Hi all,
Sorry if this questions been answered already.
But why is everyone saying that the new HBOOT is unable to be rooted.
Is it locked down, and how?
Or just it hasn't been done yet?
Thanks for all info, and explanations

It can be now, via downgrading to 0.80
Ok it can be downgraded, but why can't the newest one be rooted?

Cause the exploit that was used in the older hboot was fixed and no-one has found a new one yet. Be our guest if you want to find one

Well as a slight noob, it's way over my head, but you know, "the only stupid question is the one not asked".
And I guess the answer from that its it just hasn't been done yet.
Thank you

Only by downgrading then re-rooting
you have to downgrade as shown in this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905003
follow the steps exactly and everything will be just fine
Thanks guys for the reply
Last question : this situation is temperary, isn't it?
I mean a way to root this update is going to come out some time.
if that is the case do you recommend a specific site or thread that I should follow or should I just stick to searching the forum and the web
I really appreciate all the replies and help , thank you.

No, this situation is permanent. You really have to downgrade due to incredibly tight security in HTC devices. Be happy that it is even possible to root devices with these new builds..

Hey guys, visionaryplus doesn't work on Android 2.3.3 anymore, so..how do i root my HTC desire HD running 2.3.3? Give me a nice and easy guide! Thanks!

If you have S-OFF you can use GingerBreak - GINGERBREAK LINK
If not, you need to downgrade! ... DOWNGRADE LINK
after downgrading, you can then upgrade to 2.3.3

2.3.4 is no longer an issue,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1298990
i used the methods described there and they do indeed work.
running cyanogenmod 7 on my dinc2 now, It came from verizon with 2.3.4 and hboot 0.98
just follow the directions there (exactly) and you will be set.
Okay, so this probably sounds like a noobish question, but here goes! I have an HTC One X, unlocked bootloader, S-ON and running the latest ICS ARHD... Is there any way I can update to JB without bricking my device?! I've been trawling the forums looking for a means to do this but have found nothing. Any help? :cyclops:

Hi, guys, I just got the Verizon HTC One today and it came out of box with Android 4.4.2 and Sense 5.5 build no. 3.11.605.1 CL304035 release-keys. I have read through the Android Development forum and Original Android Development forum and I didn't find any tools specific to the 4.4.2 build. Can any of you point me in the right direction? Or is the bootloader and S-Off method still in the works? Please don't tell me that this is going to be like the Samsung devices and locked down forever! Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance!!!
As of right now, there is no s-off, bootloader unlock, or root for 4.4.2. But im sure there will be eventually. As i understand it, firewaters exploit was not patched, but the needed temp root method was.

If you got the device from a retail store just go back and try to get a replacement. There's a good bet most of them are not on 4.4
Gotcha(directed to both of you) I'm sure there'll be a method soon, if nothing else moonshine, rumrunner, etc. Will probably just be updated as I figure. I used to have the Droid DNA which is an awesome phone and I used moonshine and loved it. I love those one click programs that does everything for you! I just thought I'd ask because I read through the forums first and didn't see anything and I just wanted to make sure I didn't over look anything. Thank you guys, I appreciate it.

I seen another thread, where jcase said he will released a new method in August.

Almost 5 months for a root method? I feel really bad for those stuck on 4.4 now. I'd just jump to the M8 at that point.
Yeah August is a long way off and sure we will have another update by then which most will take making his exploit useless.

For the most part, beaups was silent before he cracked 4.3 right?
And they can't patch an exploit if they don't know what it is right?

I wish kingo was compatible. I mean I would like to have soff, custom recovery and an unlocked boot loader for custom ROMs but with how smooth and fast the 4.4.2 software is, I would be perfectly fine with just root.
