Bricked? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Android Development

Sooooo I think I F'd up.
I just dusted off my Tilt and charged it up and was attempting to put Android on it...apparently somewhere along the away I wasn't paying attention and was mixing up instructions between these two threads:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=680518
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=621001
I think I flashed the nbh from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=621001 and attempted to use the instructions from other other thread with it.
It actually booted into Android once, but it was apparently a build I had on my SD card from a while back. not sure why it booted into that, but I deleted the files off the SD and rebooted the phone and that was where my issues started.
Please save the "you're a moron, you shouldn't have tried this if you didn't know what you were doing", etc. I am not retarded and have done lots of messing around with this phone and others, I just was trying to do it too early in the morning and obviously wasn't paying close attention. =P
oh and I am hardSPL'd.
Basically my symptoms now are.......nothing. I hit power and the LCD doesn't even start to turn on, and neither do any LED's. No bootloader, LED's, backlight, anything. It's as if the battery isn't even installed (which it is...)
I've been looking around and haven't found anything related to this specific issue... If there is a thread on this already I apologize, and please direct me to it.

Did you try entering bootloader by holding cam button down and power on (no usb cable plugged)?
Did you try a hardreset?

ahhhh there she is.... removed USB and reseated battery and held cam and power and got into bootloader... simple oversight, I think I forgot to unplug USB the first dozen or so times. =P
Should be fine from here. =x
k, please commence the impending dozen posts calling me a noob and bustin my balls for creating a thread for this. =P
thanks man.

Actually the OP is a good example of a well thought out, informative troubleshooting post, all the information you thought would be needed was there, what you did, what went wrong, the symptoms, and finally, the solution, OK is was a silly mistake, but not an obvious one, leaving the USB plugged in wouldn't stop WM from booting, and this one might help someone else in a similar situation.
So don't beat yourself up about it, a late night/early morning mistake like that is just about inevitable once in a while

Thanks! It's so nice to see non douchey posts like this once in a while. =P
Although we have a relatively relaxed community on xda versus other forums I've seen.
oh and after realizing I was a moron, I was able to successfully install Cyanogen Mod 6 just fine! =D

Actually that was informative, will bookmark this one for when I get into difficulties, which will no doubt happen
But note to self, before attempting ANYTHING in the morning, drink a strong coffee first

Long Post, Need Help, might be bricked

I ahve been running mightyrom on my tp2 with Cricket. I let it get wet, (a wet towel got thrown on it), and now I have a tri color with errors when turning it back on. I was actually relieved to see something, cause it took a day of it sitting on an AC to get it to do ANYTHING.
Now, the error reads Microp(led) wrong plat (0x0). I figure I lost everything, but now am just trying to salvage the phone.
So the question is, where do I start from here?
I would be happy just to get it working again, but its not a normal starting point and I don't want to do more harm not knowing where to start
Now I have another question as well, just because I'm greedy I'm probably being foolish, but nonetheless, I'll ask it. Would there be any benefit to moving towards android? I know I have been able to save desktops, and hard drives using linux, would this make it easier, harder, etc....?
I did look through the forums, but this seems to be a kind of unique starting point, and the android is new to me as well.
Thanks in advance for any help, and thanks for all the help in the past.

First off this is in the COMPLETELY wrong forum. This is the Android port forum, not the Windows Mobile ROM forum. Please for future reference double check you are posting in the correct forum.
If you are still getting boot loader (tri color screen) then not all hope is lost. You need to get the stock TP2 rom for whatever company's TP2 you have (tmobile, att, etc) not a cooked rom the STOCK rom, from the TP2 Wiki. if you can get your phone to at least connect to USB (when on the tri color screen it will say "usb" on the very bottom if its got a working connection) then you may be able to run the stock rom to save it.
It could still be broken tho, water damage is a funny thing sometimes.

i know no one will awnser

but i tried to get into hboot with the charger plugged in, the thing vibrated 3 times, now won't boot on, what did i do?
nvm, battery was dead. swapped to my other battery and it turned on just fine.

yeah, battery was dead, plugged into the charger then hit the boot button, then it turned on and i was like "oh ****, oh **** oh-oh, i guess the battery needed to be charged"
so, any admin please delete this thread.
reading this makes me ill. I had the 3 vibrate problem twice ended up with a good refurb and my warranty ends today.. I've been offered $180 for my inc1 !!. I just can't let her go though.

[Q] Horray! I bricked my epic...

Ok, so like...two days ago, I followed qbkings video on how to root & clockworkmod an epic with EI22, well it worked. I got recovery working A ok and played around with some roms and stuff. They all worked for the most part, but after rebooting my phone, the SAMSUNG loading screen wouldnt fade away, realizing it had been soft bricked. I tried recoveries but they didnt work. tried tutorial after tutorial after tutoria, but no luck. When trying the Odin unroot method It'd always be stuck on like a factory. file, and keep getting the phone - ! - computer error afterwards. Ive tried looking around the forums and such, but no go. I really need help with this.
You didn't look to hard. There have been 5 threads like this in the last 2 weeks. Go to the stickies, top of development and follow post 1 of How to restore a semi-bricked Epic.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Uh yeah, that was one of the first posts I tried. Never worked for me. Followed exactly step by step and repeated the process five times, but ive been constantly getting stuck on factoryfs.rfs
oh ****, now it wont even turn on. tried charger usb, nothing! no indicator or anything. damn. am I screwed?
I think you were better off leaving your phone alone. If following instructions is difficult, than that should have been your first clue. Id post a link to help you, but you have already read and tried it, and even that didn't work........time for you to buy an iphone I guess.
Sent from cyandroid
Try pulling the battery and sd card, let sit for an hour with usb unplugged, then connect to usb cable with odin running and try to boot into download mode.
If it goes, pop the battery in and load up ei22 or another odinable tar along with the recovery in qbkings videos. Make sure only reboot is checked in odin.
If not, go back and try every step in the sticky. I doubt that you have a problem that has not been experienced already.
Sent by my CleanGB Epic using XDA App
So you tried buying and using a better cable? And tried with both the battery and sd card out using only the computer as a power source like the thread in Development said to do?

Sometimes the truth hurts.
I tend to agree with that sentiment, nothing against you OP, but there are some that gravitate to technology and feel at home, and then there are some that gravitate and lack the necessary skills for something like this.
This is a very straight-forward task, especially with all of qbking's hard work in making those very easy to follow videos, and other's time typing out tutorials, so I really fail to see how most have so much trouble making it work. Maybe they belong in the latter analysis.

We all started somewhere on this, and I bet most people didn't have success right away. I know I didn't on either platform I've worked on. I'm just sick of the n00b flaming around here. These people might be the ones who's roms or kernels you running in a year. Just show some respect.

Youll have to find one of them jigs to get you back into download mode I assume usually time heals all mistakes though if your inpatient id look up how to make an odin(download) reset jig ( I think its called that). I think there a thread about that lying around here somewhere...

Yup, Ive tried different cables, ports, no battery, battery but got nothing. I thoroughly read through the entire post and tried what was suggested and got nothing. Phone wont turn on or do anything. I'm thinking that i'm screwed. I have been thinking about getting a replacement epic for a while, cause some time ago I actually accidentally dropped it from my desk and this happened to it http://imgur.com/ZBlNn still worked fine, so I didn't really bother thinking about replacing it, but now I'm guessing that I have to. If I do end up requesting for a replacement, any tips/fore warnings about what I should say when I talk to the guys over at sprint before i end up mumbling like an idiot.

With the soft brick you might have been able to save it. It happened to my brothers phone and what I did to fix it was wipe everything, factory reset
Then flash stock rom. Wipe everything again
Then flash stock kernel
Wipe everything again
Then it was perfect.
If you had already been flashing roms.and such then your problem wasn't following directions.
You just might have flashed a rom without a supported kernal. Causing bootloop
As far as where you are now.. maybe tell then you dropped it and it never turned back on?
I don't think they can ever find out you rooted it if it never turns on again lol

Don't use the broken screen as the reason or they will charge you around $100. Just try and make sure you get across the point that its the faulty phone (even if it isn't) and make sure you have an accurate believable story on how it got bricked. If you mention anything about messing with root or anything similar they won't replace it.
True. But on another note you can't say much. Only other thing I can think of is saying maybe you tried updating the device and it died

Seriously you ignored the odin mode jig? it jumps you back into download mode and you should be able to odin back to eco5........ Ill find a how to for ya.
Its all over a simple google search and you can find a usb jig for about 8 bucks.

[FYI] Learn from my dumb mistake, thought my phone was bricked

Hey guys, just a piece of info, hopefully this will save somebody a serious headache.
Always always always charge the battery. I know it says that everywhere but apparently they weren't kidding.
I tried to flash my E4GT using odin and it ended up failing halfway through a few months ago. When it would not connect over usb after that I thought I had seriously screwed something up and it sat for a few months. I even bought a jtag programmer, got my dad to help me solder to the jtag port and reflashed the bootloader. But in the end it turns out that all along it was a dead battery. Charged it up because I was about to sell it for parts and I wanted to show the error screen. Tried to root it again and now it's as happy as can be.
Anyway, just figured I'd share. like I said, hopefully somebody else will benefit from my dumb mistake.
I am totally sorry but

[Q] HELP - child wiped out phone (brick?) and mom needs help...

hi everyone! I am seeking your expertise as I came upon this forum trying to help my son fix his phone. He's only 11 years old- but as we call him at home our "tech guy". He got a brand new HTC One M8 (carrier is ATT) yesterday and 3 hours later - the phone was "bricked" as I have been told. Apparently, (these are his words) he "unlocked the bootloader using HTCdev, then flashed twrp, then flashed supersu.zip.
I have no idea what any of that means but apparently he did something wrong because his phone is not working and we don't know how to fix it. If you have any compassion for a frustrated Mom who's trying not to be angry with her son -- I would appreciate any advice you can give on how to fix this.
I have attached a picture of what the phone looks like when we turn it on. I also posted this under the ATT forum too.
Thanks in advance for your help!
You bought your 11 year old son an M8?
Do you adopt?

Going by the pic, the bootloader has been relocked. So that's a problem. The bootloader will need to be unlocked again. I would suggest heading over to Youtube, as I have found video tutorials the most helpful when I was learning this stuff. There are plenty of videos that are even specific to the M8.
Edit: I should also point out that a phone can almost always be saved/restored if it still powers on. So don't panic. It would probably be in your best interest though to find someone experienced to fix it. Trying to explain the process to fix it here is not going to be helpful to someone who doesn't know what they're doing. If you can't find someone experienced, then my best suggestion, as stated above, would be to watch some Youtube tutorials on unlocking/rooting the M8.
Okay. In all seriousness.
When was this screen grab taken? In other words, is this your current position with the phone?
Relocked... etc etc
Are you in the US on AT&T?
Your tech son needs to restore ATT backup.. Hopefully someone in that forum has it

UPDATE on my son
Thank you all so much for your responses! It is much appreciated. Believe it or not - this kid fixed it all by himself. Basically (remember I am not technical) he unlocked the boot loader then flashed a ROM onto an SD card and was able to load. Don't think I worded correctly - but I think you know what I am talking about -- it's fixed and working fine. WHEW!!
I guess he "retraced" the steps he did last night and was able to get it. Actually it's strange the first ROM he put on wasn't allowing him to find or pick up wifi. He found another and got it. This kid is good!
I will certainly keep the info to this forum handy because something tells me that I will be visiting again with this child..................
Have a great evening!!
p.s. I typed the wrong key -- he's 12 not 11 And - sure I'd adopt! But he did save up his own money to get this phone and only wanted it to do these "cool" things as he says to it.....rest of my family - we are simple and use Iphones -- sorry.
All I can say to this is Wow!!

I'm glad to hear everything worked out for you and your son.
It's great to know that you're letting your kid tinker around as he is. I know these are quite expensive devices, but we often do learn from our mistakes, and that is even more true when it comes to technology. I'm sure that I have a bit of a bias being a software developer, but tech is such a huge part of life now, and that is only going to become more so with time. So getting an early start as he is, your son is going to have a leg-up in the world, even if he doesn't choose this type of field as a career path.

Thanks!! He's very into all of this stuff and always has been from a very young age -- started with Legos at 2. He doesn't play sports and this is his "thing". He really LOVES all this stuff. He's actually really good and understands most things. As you can see - we certainly have issues now and then but overall we certainly let him "tinker". I really should write stuff down so we can laugh about it in about 10 years. We tried to limit his Internet time a couple of years ago and added a password on his computer that we had to input on his computer to gain access. Little **** put a keystroke logger on the computer to get the password. Then he somehow modified the main password screen to say PENIS when we logged on. The stories go on and on....... We will let him continue his technology building and hopefully he really have a bright future in technology!
Thanks for all of the input and support from this forum!

I was the same from an early age and always have been. I have taken apart or modified more household items than I can think of. I broke a lot of stuff messing as a kid, but now I have a lot of knowledge and can fix almost any thing properly.
It seems you are not so bad yourself with the technical stuff as most moms wouldn't have a clue or even be able to repeat what you have explained here.
