any way to temporarily disable text messages? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I would like to be able to pause my text messages, kind of in the same way that you can turn off data. Is there any way to pause them so that they will be received after you are done with what you are doing? Texts keep interrupting my connection!!
Thanks

Unchecking Autoretreive does not accomplish this. Any ideas?
Aren't there apps that squelch texts from certain numbers? Would any of these accomplish my goal?

Go to Settings->Call and check DDTM. This will delay texts & calls until your data connection is dormant.

I am on T-Mobile, so I'm not familiar with what AT&T can do, but on our network you can log in to your account at the website and disable text messaging. It won't be gone from the phone, but you won't get any text messages. I'm not sure if this turn of OUTBOUND texting.
Ill take a look in the registry for you, i think the most you'll be able to do is disable the messaging driver, but im not sure what that will do. ill be back in a bit
If you dont/wont use it... why even bother with disabling it? I dont think we're charged if we recieve a text only for sending. I could be wrong here though.
Are you worried about accidently opening a contact and typing out a message and sending it to them?

Disable roaming text messages?

Anyone know if there is a way/app to disable text messages while I am roaming? Canadian carriers charge a fortune for US text messages so I would like to turn them off.
Having the phone on and using Wifi is fine, but not SMS.
THanks.

Don't know any apps but you can always manually uncheck the "Automatically retrieve messages" box in the messaging settings. That way you won't recieve messages until you turn that function back on.

[Q] Multiple notifications using Handcent SMS App

Ever since I updated to Handcent version 5.0.3 when I get a text message my phone will do what it's supposed to do & notify me. If I'm already in the app texting someone else & I try to navigate to the new text, my phone keeps notifying me of the new text. It will ring 3-4 times. I thought it was due to having the text reminders option on, but it still does it when I turned off the reminders. Why is it doing this & what can I do to make it stop?

Cant send/receive text messages

Tried switching to default app. Has nothing to do with apps. Keep receiving
"Networkis unavailable. The message will be sent when the network is available pr pver WiFi if you are subscribed to Integrated Messaging."
I tried doing soft resets, deleting cache/data. Turned on wifi and the message comes up none stop. Turn it off and the message only comes on when i try to send a message. Cant find anything online.
Been rooted on 13B. Verizon. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It seems the service freezes. So to restart it I just placed a call since calls uses the same signal as text messages (regular texts not mms). Once the call went through it restarted the service and i was able to send/receive texts.

Are you getting notifications for messages that YOU have sent

Everytime i send an SMS or whatsapp I get a notification of my outbound message in the same way an inbound message notification.
I can't see any setting to switch this off. Its pretty annoying especially when using Android Auto..
You getting this too?
