[Q] I give up :(, Problem with permissions. - myTouch 3G Slide Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

First of all Hello everyone.
So today i decided to root my Mytouch Slide.
- I have used the method on theunlockr.com
- Successfully rooted my phone and had super user app in menu.
- I decided to put Slide MR1 custom rom, so i went to clockworks and installed the rom.
- After rom was installed phone would boot loop, so i read that eng-build is needed to get this working ( Not sure if i am right )
- So i followed this guide: ip208-100-42-21.static.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=703076
- Anyways i got to this point: "/data/local/flash_image misc /data/local/mtd0.img" and now i get error message saying "error writing misc: Permission denied"
Is there anyway i can make my phone functional again, preferably with custom rom ?
Thanks for help.

Have you tried doing it as su in terminal emulator on the phone?

Ok i managed to unbrick my phone using ESPRIMG rom.
Is there any custom rom that doesnt require eng-build to be preinstalled ?
I tried Wes rom but it got stuck on boot loop also.
Thank you

Maybe if you posted in the right section you'd get an answer. Don't be afraid to reread the directions and try again.

To perform the function it requires that you first call
Su (superuser permissions)
And then
Chmod 04755 *
Edit: btw the method on unlockr is eugenes first method with loop excluded for whatever reason using an update.zip with su and superuser.apk included which euegene also posted so I don't see why your having trouble with xda devs methods.

you didnt unbrick it cus it wasnt bricked. if it was, you wouldnt have been able to unbrick it...plus the slide is almost impossible to brick, because it has a locked bootloader

none of them require the eng build, but if you dont flash the eng build you will have to redo the entire root process EVERY time you flash anything...
oh, almost forgot:
THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH DEVELOPMENT! QUESTIONS GO IN Q&A! WRONG SECTION!!! USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION!!!

I am sorry for bad terminology.
Please move the topic if possible, i am sorry i made it in wrong place i was in rush.
Why does every rom i install boot loops then, maybe i am missing something.
Thank you
EDIT:
So after installing ESPRIMG i decided i will try to put custom rom on my phone again.
I went to recovery mode and surprisingly clockwork worked without connecting it to my pc and doing "adb" stuff.
-Does that mean eng-build went through, or my phone is rooted ?
From clockworks i installed slidemeroot 5r1 and it works !
Now my question is am i all set or do i need to install radio update etc ?
Thanks

Your radio has been downgraded. ChiefzReloaded made a new thread on here today with an updated radio. You can flash that update.

What does the downgraded radio affect, and how to check which version i have ?
Thanks guys you are really helpful.

settings > about phone > software information
listed under 'baseband version' after the _
the updated version tmo just sent out is 7.09.35.10

Since you just rooted and are asking questions about the radio kinda tells me you probably dont have the latest radio. Just go to the link by CR and download it. Put it on your sd card and flash it through clockwork recovery. Its that easy.

To answer your question though, the downgraded radio will yield shorter battery life and less signal strength. It's a considerable difference between the different radios. More because of signal strength than anything.

I had problems with boot loops and it endeed up being remnants of a ext4 partition on my sdcard (from when it was in my G1). Have you had your card partitioned before?

[Q] md5 misfit issues

hi all.ok,im a noobish flasher !!!! (lol) i have tried several of the roms etc and i make clockworkmod nandroid backups regular, all of a sudden i am no longer able to restore my nandroid backups due to keep getting md5 misfit i have not changed the name of the folder or anything like that they are put onto my p.c for safe keeping so as to just drag and drop later. i have change the size of the partition on the sd since nandroid back-ups so would this cause the md5 issues ?? i think i might be using a newer rom manager than previous too but why would this affect the nandroid stuff !!!
md5 issues
nobody !!!!!!
what happens if instead of rom manager, you restore through hboot?

hi,cheers for the link.too complicated for me all that adb stuff so just gonna keep my trust with the dev roms.using wildpuzzle now since start of feb and its fine for what i use my phone for. regards slymobi.
hi again.ok im not clued up with adb but i have got terminal emulator on my phone. can you give me instructions on how i could try the method in the link you gave me but by using terminal emulator instead of adb ??? like i said its not a must to fix but would be nice to revert back to my orignal three network installed crap if needed. i appriciate your help and replies. regards chris (slymobi)
While I do not know whether it will work using the Android Terminal (Don't use Terminal much. Prefer using ADB), I would recommend you read up some ADB tutorials. There are loads of them, and really, ADB is a must-have, and, not complex at all.

Having a hell of a time getting my evo 4g to change to s on. I have successfully unrooted it but the s off remains there. I need to take it back to sprint for repairs.
I have tried several with the recent unrevoked 3. But my results are after flashing "waiting 5 seconds because windows hates" message and the other says waiting to reboot" (both freezes forever). Any direction would be appreciated.
Thanks you.
Newsflash. I've never heard one story of Spring checking a bootloader to make sure a phone is S-On.
Flash A stock ROM and you;ll be good, although there have been posts that say Sprint will work on Rooted phones now.

You have to have a custom recovery to do that (Amon-RA or Clockwork). You need to reinstall Amon-Ra Recovery by putting this in the root of your SDCard and rename it "PC36IMG.zip": http://files.androidspin.com/downloads.php?dir=amon_ra/RECOVERY/&file=PC36IMG.zip
Then flash this: http://downloads.unrevoked.com/forever/current/unrevoked-forever-son.zip
After that just run an RUU from here: http://goo-inside.me/supersonic/ruu
In case the RUU won't work from your computer, download one of the ZIP ones, put it in the root of your SDCard and rename it "PC36IMG.zip". That always works.
I am not sure what you mean by "Spring checking but I have flashed the stock rom PC36IMG.zip onto the root of the sd. My understanding that once your successful doing this you basically revert to the original rom. I have done that thanks to this site. But, I cannot for the life of me get the s on back on. Rooting my phone with three different custom roms were easier. Not all Spring stores like rooted phones. Id rather revert to original with the s on to be sure. product F thanks for the reply I will try that..perhaps I missed something. Thank You.

That plus the leaked document from the sprint employee forums that said that sprint supports rooted devices means we don't have to fret over s-on for service just make sure that your phone is running a sense rom when it is taken in otherwise they can't use the diagnostic commands from the dialer to fully support the device.

If you're using Clockwork, you have to disable Signature Verification.

Thanks for staying with me. Appreciate it.
Here is how I wasable to get to recovery to get to the root directory for choosing zip from sd.
STEP 9: TURN OFF DEVICE
Power down the device by holding the Power Button for 2 seconds. Allow it to shutdown completely. Wait about 10 seconds before next step.
STEP 10: RECOVERY MODE
Hold down VOL DOWN + POWER until device boots into a White Screen.
Move to RECOVERY by using the VOL DOWN toggle and select by using POWER button.
STEP 11: TRANSFER PC36IMG.zip TO SDCARD
Connect the MICRO USB Cord. There is an option for this in both the Amon RA and Clockwork recovery.
Transfer the PC36IMG.zip to the ROOT of your SDCard.[/SIZE][/SIZE]
It was the connection and discnnection of th usb cable. Everything was in green. Is that normal.
So, my next step was to flash the forever s on zip. The results were unsupported radio version. Update failed. The current version I have is 2.15.00.05.02. on the new update on my evo. I tried it first by removing the pc36img.zip nd then tried it with it on...same results.
So I found this radio version (EVO_Radio_2.15.00.05.02_WiMAX_27243_PRI_NV_2.15_003), but I am not sure if this is what version is needed. Anyways, I apologize for this long everyone, but I am trying to provide as much info and hopefully I can minimize your time. Thanks alot.

The radio package you mention is the same radio you already have, so you'll want an older version. I'm not exactly sure of the version number, but I do know that is not the correct one.
Remember when you flash radios to not pull the battery. It'll flash, then upon rebooting it'll finish. You'll see a screen that you probably haven't seen before, it'll most likely be an arrow pointing down to a phone or an Android in a box... or something like that. Regardless of what you see after the flash, don't freak out and pull the battery - you'll end up bricking your phone. It's one of the few ways to guarantee a real brick, the phone will never turn on again. You may already know this, or it may be in whatever guide you're using, but it's good to know.
Anyway, I'll see if I can find the correct radio for you, and good luck!
Edit: I read somewhere that someone used this one to get s-on: http://www.mediafire.com/?v0ymbhaa0ltcvyy
However, you may need to do some trial and error. It should work, but here's a link to all of them: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715485
These are from Calkulin, so if they're PC36IMG files you'll be fine, but I'm pretty sure you flash them in recovery. Sorry, it's late & I'm lazy. Anyway, I think Calkulin still uses amend scripting, which will render them incompatible with ClockworkMod. You'll either need to switch to Amon Ra to flash them or find a different flashable zip. I think you'll only need to flash the radio, not all of them, but I could be wrong.

You don't need S-OFF to have sprint work on your phone for repair. My cousin just got an insurance replacement Evo 4g because he washed his phone with his clothes. He brought it over to me to be rooted and the phone he got was already S-OFF and that is an Insurance REFERB. also with the leaked forum of how Sprint will infact work on Rooted phones gives it away that you dont need S-OFF
Plainjane. Thanks for the info. I downloaded the zip from the first site you showed here and it ran well with the exception that it got stuck on formatting cache. So, I rebooted. s off still on. I will try the next one here in a few. Thanks everyone.

well. While I continue to try and solve this puzzle I will attempt to attach this link on how to flash a radio to evo. i take no credit.
well i am happy to say i have finally go the s on back on. I believe the problem was that i left the recovery supersonic ra image on the root directory of the sd. i deleted that and flashed the supersonic s on image and voila!!! [Q] bricked

hate to ask for help bc u can usually find the answer somwhere....if my phone IS really bricked would love someone to tell me that so i can move on. seemed to have read that if it comes on then its not bricked..idk. ive rooted, flashed new roms and flashed it back completely stock.
i bricked it by attemting to flash it to boost...wrote nv items and zero'd out the meid. was looking for the esn so i could do the same, got a few of em.....phone fell battery flew..now i cant get past the first white htc screen...now this is where things get funky. a step of the guide i was following required root so i did n i saw cwm.. wen i got the bootloop i wasnt really worried at first bc i kne i could try a few things. well that didnt last long. booted into hboot n it said s-on..? then it wouldnt let me in recovery, just rebooted to the bootloop. i tried runnig unrevoked agn even tho i couldnt boot...couldnt read the phone. put the pb13img on sd card and it went thru its updating process n asked to reboot. reboots in same bootloop. next i tried runnig RUU..it runs and reboots my phone to the same bootloop...is there anyway to restore the ORIGINAL nv items and meid/esn...since these are the only things other than running unrevoked that ive changed i think thats where my problem lies. any help would be greatly appreciated.
Which radio is currently flashed on your phone? I had this issue once, I had to flash back to the 7.28 radio to get my phone to boot.
damn when i saw this post, i thought it was my post! i did almost the exact same thing and its acting almost the same as your phone. i did the ruu and it worked on the one posted in my thread, ran through and all but nothing. how would i done grade the radio?
i never flashed a radio...hboot says 2.15.00.07.28..
lol waxworks i saw ur post also... started reading and we pretty much did the same thing on pretty much the same step of flashing to boost...mad as hell too stuck with this incognito for awhile smh..
is there anyway to flash a nandroid without being able to get into cwm? idk man jus not looking good.

Galaxy S2 GT-i9100 root+Rom issue

Okeydokey. I installed a custom ROM ( VillainRom3.0 ) last night, and it has messed up a few things :/. Most apps randomly blank out and crash instantly - wifi doesn't work, phone freezes.
I'm rather new, and most of this stuff does confuse me; anyone able to post simple step by step of how to get a suitable kernal for VillainRom3.0 ?
EDIT: It also removed CWM and Superuser from the App menu :/

I was running villain rom with the standard chainfire kernel that most start with and that was stable - I must say though I wasn't too impressed with it - recently installed Westcrip's Resurrection ICS remix and boy am I happy I did! - if you want villain though just search for a compatible rom using the last letters from your baseband version - that normally does the trick! Good luck
I've found an old backup laying around, and got to installing that, so VillainRom is no longer on their. I'm back to a rooted firmware and that's it.
BUT: Now my computer ( nor any other ) recognises when It's pluggedin via USB :/.
I have this issue flashing some newer roms lately, not sure what it is.
To get back to a stock rom/rooted rom use the methods listed under the dev section of your phone that are the initial root direction using odin or something similar.

*Help* I unrooted on a rom and now I can't root my phone.

Device: LG G3
Rom: [AOSP EXTENDED V3.0] [LG G3 - D855] [OFFICIAL] [NOUGAT R9] [by MARCHETTO96]
Hey again,
So i'm running this rom right and I was reinstalling my apps onto my phone and one app I need to log into but it noticed it was running root (Snapchat). So I followed someones advice on here on XDA to fully unroot the device and I did that I fully unrooted the app from the phone and then here comes the worst part that I realized this will kick me out of recovery and i wont be able to get back in because I need to get on to recovery to re install superSU back on. So im stranded on nougat 7.1 and dont have access to root at all except for root access on developer settings but that doesn't nothing at all I re installed the app on play store but its telling me the phone is unrooted of course.
Anyone can help me out here. It would be greatly appreciated .
P.S I did get snapchat working after that method kinda did work/backfire at the same time.
Do you have nandroid backup? If yes, flash that. It will be all well.
Other hard method is to downgrade to KitKat and then root and then TWRP. ?
I do not have a back up for this ROM but I have other back ups on my phone that still works. I can't do it as well cause I neeed root to l get it to work.

Yeah thats the only thing I can't get access to TWRP. When I fully unrooted It would not let me in my recovery at all just bootloops until i take the battery out then it reboots to the system fine.
Just going to ask a hopefully obvious question that I know doesn't help but I'm intrigued... Why didn't you just unroot using the supersu app?

I did do that....now my main problem is I don't have root anymore and I can't get access to my recovery and plus I'm running an Nougat rom so I need to find a way to re-root my phone again to get it all back.
The supersu app doesn't delete the recovery on your phone so something had to have gone wrong. Either way the best bet for you I would imagine anyway would be to follow a guide to install recovery - it's been that long since I had to do it I can't be of much help but I'm willing to look into the easiest options for you if you want. There will be a way, pretty much guaranteed

I know that my recovery is still there but It wont allow me on there for some reason. But im thinking that If I factory reset the phone it would PROBABLY fix the problem but theres one risk that it could probably happen and im guessing that it will go straight into a bootloop. If you want to help me It would be great
I'll research for you mate!
Did you modify your ro.product.model in build.prop file and when supersu app asks if you want to flash stock recovery you pressed yes?
For example if you have enabled google assistant by changing your ro.product.model to pixel or pixel xl and after that unrooted and pressed yes to restore stock recovery (to get OTA to work), supersu flashes pixel recovery and thats why you can't get to recovey again.
There are ways to get your phone back to factory clean and start over.
Okay I have spent a whole day figuring out this problem but i finally managed to fix it.
So I went onto download mode
opened up LG Flash Tool 2014
Flashed an LG KDZ File managed to work after the 2nd time
10 or 15 mins later it finally worked
LG started to boot up and started loading in the apps
THEN
I rooted the phone again using this forum: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/root-twrp-marshmallow-d855-30b-t3286268
Then I finally got back onto the glorious TWRP rom.
I re-installed the ASOP rom again.
I'd Like to thank Juhkimo, Jahanzaibawan and pffcouk for helping me out. You guys got my phone back to what it was before so thanks a ton
