any one got a stock orange uk htc desire rom?? im returning mine tommorrow and i need it asap!
I am looking for the Orange ROM as well.
Whats the reason for returning it? There is a French-based ROM floating about, not sure if that will do the trick...
Stock Orange ROM has never seen the light of day, it's the risk you take debranding your phone
It's a shame, in a way, that no-one did a dump of the system & data partitions from an Orange-branded phone prior to flashing
Well there are 2 options, wait for the official 2.2 ruu to turn up.
or ask someone prior to rooting orange UK phones to take a dump (you will have to talk them through it.)

I am running stock OrangeUK, I made a dump of the system but I didn't know what to do from there. If anyone can help me through I would only be too happy to give it a go!
Can you also dump boot and data please??
Then, if you know how to use FTP, I can give you access to my server to upload them to if you wish and I can host/get a flashable ROM done for those wishing to re-brand
Yeah, you will have to bare with me sorry, have formatted since I got the system folder. Also yes i know how to upload to ftps, will let you know when i have the files though!
How did you dump the orange Rom?
I was under the impression it wasn't possible and
people were waiting for orange based ruu to be leaked on HTC,web
I wish I looked into this more myself now, if it's possible...>_<oh badger
You can dump the stock partitions (system, boot, data, etc etc) the only thing which is needed then is to unpack these images, and to re-package it into a flashable update.
It's not so much a full RUU then, but more of a Clone
Either way, it will still then give the ability to re-flash a stock-RUU-based ROM for Orange, and/or have a stock Orange-based ROM with Root
Soon as I get the files from saitrix, I'll get on with it, and do 2 versions, 1 rooted, 1 stock.
I did a nandroid on my uk orange just after rooting.
Don't know if its possible to re flash the nandroid then do an unroot. If it is then i can zip it up and ftp it or put it on my ftp server.

I have only been able to copy the system folder, it seems the other folders are protected for some reason.

Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Dude, i'm running some crappy ROM on my HTC Desire, did you ever make the flashable RUU? I NEED IT
Bumping up an old thread here!
It looks like I may have a problem with my Desire's motherboard cos I have constant rebooting problems. I'm gonna need to return my phone to stock before I can send it back for repair.
Did anyone ever have any luck getting a stock orange uk rom?

Does anyone have a Nandroid backup of the shipper Orange HTC Hero? If they do can I ne sent a copy and can this be used to restore my Orange Hero to as shipped .. I have a wifi issue after rooting.
Any help would be appreciated.
With all the Root'ing going on does anyone have a Nandroid backup of the Orange shipped ROM?
Thanks
I've got one here, Ian. I did the backup right after a factory reset, skipping the Google/wi-fi/time zone set-up so it should be as pristine as possible.
Dropped you a pm ... could you email to address in PM ... many thanks

You have the wifi issue after rooting by Modaco 1.4 or 1.3? Could I use modaco 1.4 patch to root my hero without wifi's problem!?

Thanks to Shluggity.
I know have an original Orange ROM back up (Nandriod). If there is interest I will post it for others.
Please do, i'll host it somewhere in a repository of stock ROMs.
Anyone have a T-Mo stock ROM?

Please post it scopes64, would be good to have a backup.
Copy of backup is now with Paul at Modaco. It should be available soon.

I may have one for in a few days or so. I just bought a hero from a place in Chicago...it looked unbranded to me but the auction listing said tmo, we'll see. If it is, I'll be a Factory reset and then do a nandroid backup. I've never done it before as this is my first android phone but I"m happy to learn and contribute.
Orange stock Rom
Hiya folks. I am looking for a nandroid stock backup rom for my Orange Hero. Can anyone help? cheers Andy
why not just download the htc RUU update from the website and flash that, its for the orange hero.
Currently using Pauls rooted ROM from over on Modaco but need to put the stock Vodafone UK ROM back on my phone as I need to send it back due to a fault with the phone.
Does anyone know where I can find the ROM? Looked in all sorts of places but haven't been able to track it down yet.
Thank you in advance, from a very desperate person!
Don't think VF have made it available...
Try here http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Bravo/
out of interest what is the fault, I have a vodafone desire with original rom is radio 32.3000.28U_4.05.00.11 rom 1.15.161.4 CL155070

Would also love it if you could manage this. I'd even have your babies!
It's not that important you get voda ROM on there.
Voda made very few changes except in the Customization folder and build.prop.
I was going to wait also, but now I know pretty much what most of the changes were, I can replicate them later if need be with a custom ROM that would be close enough that they would never notice or care.
+1 for the Vodafone Rom. I rooted to 1.15.405.4, mainly as an experiment. I am on my 2nd android. I couldn't root my last one and felt I was missing out.
I did this before FroYo was announced= , and have discovered this will give me all the features I desire without root and invalidating my warranty.
Fingers crossed someone manages to dump the rom.
Cheers and good luck!
Daz
its available now look here
That looks like it's just the latest update, not the RUU for Vodafone UK

Hi St0kes
That would be great, only thing is, do you know how to put this onto my Desire? Or of any tutorials?
Thanks
Daz
i would also like this rom for same reason as everyone else.
this any good to ya?
http://liveimage.htc.com//OTA_Bravo_Vodafone_UK_1.19.161.5_1.15.161.4_release_P2q1fwy34gicxsiqaq.zip
it the vodafone 1.19.161.5 rom
Think people are after the full RUU not just the OTA update...surprised VF/HTC haven't made it available
Maybe if I can get the Voda stock /system of someone I can make an update to be flashed over generic in order to make it a Voda again. I'll need to make a comparison of changes first so I'll need the Voda /system dir first.
Ok the other day i decided to get rid of the orange rom from my HTC Desire so i created a goldcard flashed the testruu.exe file then i rooted my phone. yesterday i decided to unroot it and reflash the htc generic rom. all was working perfect then today i checked for ota update. there was one ready to download so i got it installed and it was working fine. ive just got home from work now and my wifi says unable to start under settings. dont know how its happened
Any ideas how to fix this.
Thanks in advance.
p.s.
please dont tell me ive got to flash my phone again otherwise i will get all my friends iphones to rape the desire right up the usb slot
you could try doing a manual update using the RUU 1.21.405.2 in the dev forum. I used that and I have no wi-fi problems...
Funny, the other reports of broken wi-fi I've read seem to be from people who had previously rooted their phones too...
Is there no other way around this other than flashing the rom?
Doubt it, but it's pretty soon after the official roll-out. Give it time and somebody might figure something out.

Mine has never been rooted and I have the same wi-fi problem after the 1.21.405.2 update.
Not so funny then, I guess.
Try flashing with this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=684259
It's the same update... but it works. At least, it worked on mine and many others. It will wipe everything so make sure to back up first.
Same here...Never rooted, but I did de-brand with a generic ROM using a GoldCard. Can't start Wi-Fi.
Does anyone know if T-Mobile customers with the stock T-Mobile ROM have received this update?
Hello. Exactly same problem for me: Orange France ROM flashed to official HTC, and after upgrade unrecognized wifi. It was never rooted.
How to be sure to have an official ROM ?
Thanks.
Ok, so it's not rooting, but we now have three people in this thread who have flashed to the generic rom and then updated, who now have broken wireless.
Teppic24 - how about you? Did you debrand your phone? Just curious. If that's the issue maybe we can warn people who have done the same...
Yes I did de-brand.
So basically, everybody in this thread who has wireless issues, de-branded their phone before applying the update?
There's a pattern here...
It's exactly the same for me. I debranded my French Orange HTC Desire with the official HTC Rom, and now no more Wifi
What's more, I have never rooted my Desire.
arrrrrrggggghhhh Help!
Just flashed it using the same 1.21.405.2 rom from the dev section and now its asking for sim network unlock pin
I put in my goldcard and booted to fastboot then with my phone connected to pc i ran the rom.exe and it installed booted up and now its asking for sim network unlock pin.
Any ideas plz
Thanks
Dion
Yeah, I don't know what exactly the issue is, but the debranding does seem to be the culprit (so far, anyway)
As mentioned previously, you can probably fix it by flashing your Desire with the rom linked in the first post here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=684259
It's an official release. It will wipe everything, so make sure to back up first.

I take it a Goldcard is still required to flash that, even for de-branded phones?

Yep...and now I feel like a **** for leaving it lying around my overly tidy girlfriend who doesn't take care of what she's throwing out when she's gone all Monica for the day.
Well, I just plugged my phone in and opened the RUU on my pc. But my desire is a stock, unaltered model.
I don't know if it will be the same for you guys.
With my unabeled wifi, rebranded HTC rom after Orange, my base band version is:
32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11
In hope it helps...
It seems that there is no trouble with this one : 32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2.
If someone want to make a test ... and there an other one : 32.37.00.32U_4.06.00.16_2
Silly question probably, but I don't care:
Is it possible to flash only the baseband ?
I've been reading and flashing all afternoon.
I have a non-simlocked phone but it has a Virgin Media bootscreen and a link app on the home page to their website.
I've flashed successfully twice with WWE ROMs but after it's all done, it goes through the device setup screens (as expected) but when it gets round to the home screen, the Virgin stuff pops up again.
It's almost like I do really flash it, but the branding is persisting for some reason and I can't do any OTA Froyo updates or anything as it is presumably looking for the Virgin version which may never come.
So, what am I doing wrong here?
Cheers,
Joe
What is the full name of the RUU you have flashed with?
These are the ones I used:
RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.15.405.4_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_122704.exe
RUU_Bravo_HTC_Europe_1.15.405.3_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_121865.exe
Both ran the course successfully and so I expected the Virgin stuff to have gone, only for it to reappear.
Have I used the right ones?
Only other thing (if relevant) is that I haven't rooted and my current end goal is a plain old vanilla Froyo from HTC (official version). I had planned on using these ROM's to enable an OTA update to take place you see...
EDIT: I see this page says to have the update.zip on the SD whereas the method I was doing was get into bootloader on the phone and run the exe on the PC.
http://www.droid-den.com/phone-guides/phone-guide-how-to-root-the-htc-desire <--see section 4 for the extra file that they say to use.
Thanks for any advice dudes - I've been going round in circles with this for 4 hours now!
It'd seem those two RUUs have Virgin branding included, especially if you were able to run them without a goldcard.
If all you want to do is end up with stock froyo just run the RUU directly:
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Bra...3.00.32U_5.09.00.20_release_140022_signed.exe
This will require a goldcard.
Ok thanks a lot for that.
I'm a bit new to Android coming from years of WinMo - can I ask how does it work that after the ROM's been flashed that the Virgin stuff comes back?
Is there a portion of the phone's ROM that doesn't get overwritten? I'm on T-Mobile for a network so it's not getting it from my SIM.
Cheers,
Joe

I haven't looked at those two RUUs, but they could contain code to install some Virgin branding after flashing if your phone has a Virgin CID.
An RUU will flash the entire phone's software.
So the Goldcard lets me flash the ROM but then afterwards the CID kicks in and tells the newly installed firmware to be carrier specific then?
Ok, my end goal has changed very slightly - get to a stock HTC 2.2 ROM and get rid of the Virgin branding!
Going for some food - back in 15 mins! I want to get this sorted!
Thanks,
Joe
Normally that won't happen. If you flash stock froyo you should get rid of any Virgin branding.
Ok, I'm going in.
Call 999 if I'm not back in half an hour
I will report back soon!
Remember you need a goldcard, or you'll be back sooner than you hope.
All done thanks.
Yes I used my Goldcard and it's all gone through fine, same as the others, except...(drum roll)...no Virgin branding!!!!
I tried an update check afterwards and nothing's available - all up to date - I assume then this is the newest build out there and there's nothing else to update now?
Thanks a million for your help - if I could buy you a beer or two I would but the chances of you being near SW Essex in the UK are low.
Cheers,
Joe
Heh, thanks. That is the latest unbranded build, yes - make sure you use a goldcard whenever you want to install future OTA updates though.
I have a T-mobile uk branded desire (firmware version 2.1 -update 1 )
(software number 1.15.110.11), I dont want to root as i want to keep the warranty, but the low volume problem is really pissing me off, I tried to watch a film while stuck on the underground today, I could not hear a word of it, even with hi end sennheisers, its really pissing me off!!!
I have been told that switching to the stock HTC rom will solve the issue.
If possible pls explain how? I am an android newb and will need help.
Many thanks in advance.
sadly, no.
But if you have a problem, you can keep a backup of the stock HTC sense rom, and restore it. Additionally, you can restore the recovery to stock (I think i saw it somewhere).
After all that, you are good to go. Warranty still valid, and you can RMA it
Thanks for the reply, pls remember I am a newb, how do I do this???
Root your phone, do what you want with it, just keep this handy...
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Bra...00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_127570_signed.exe
It's the current T-Mobile UK stock ROM and can be reflashed at any point to return to stock for warranty purposes (link may go down occationally so keep trying until you have it)...to reflash the stock ROM just make sure you have your Desire connected to your PC with HTC Sync and run the file - simple as that!!
I really dont want to root it to be honest, the phone is perfect except for the media volume! Do you think if I contacted htc they would be able to tell me how to change the rom without rooting it?
You CANNOT change the ROM without rooting, and HTC wouldn't tell you as it's breech of their warranty...just root it, you can always go back to stock if need be using the file I posted
Rooting isn't for everyone. If you have doubts about it, you should not do it. It's better to read some more about it than to hastely brick your phone. Most bricks are solvable these days, but it is no fun to do. If you want root just for the volume, it's not worth it if you don't know what you're doing, imho.
Sent from my Evil Lair using Doomsday Device
I have a T-Mo branded Desire that I have de-branded to a stock ROM, it's been OTA updated to 2.2 and just this morning it OTA updated to the new release all without rooting.
You just need to create a goldcard (very easy using the helper program) which will allow you to install any stock RUU. I have left the goldcard in my phone as it works as a standard microSD anyway to avoid any problems that occur when updating with out a gold card in.
I can't post links as I'm too much of a newb around here but search and the links are there.
