My phone get's 5mbps on the phone but via wireless tethering it only manages to push 1mbps....Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this or it it's just me?
Shouldn't wireless tethering be close to the speed on the phone?
my evo isnt rooted but i get 11mb down and 1mb up. i use easytether. i had a mt3g rooted just for wifi tether and i dont think it was worth it. yeah it was fun and all but not worth it just for the wireless tether.
anyway i get this while tethered via usb: its also in my sig

I just update to 2.2. I have full 4G service at home. When I run speed test via internal Evo browser i get almost 12Mbps when i connect my laptop and run speed test via laptop i get only 6Mbps is it limitation of USB tethering? I would like to try WIFI tether but Froyo not supporting WIFI tether yet. Just in case i am running rooted 2.2. Any body can veryfy limitations?

I have similar. 6 on the phone but less than 1 on laptop. I also tried EasyTether with similar result. Before update it was just flying over usb. Very strange.
Any ideas, fixes?

Cam home installed wifi tether Pre 7 first i was getting crappy speed of about 2 MBPS then i connect charger and my speed shot up to 9 mbps down and 5mbps up WOW i am impresssed.

Nevermind my laptop switched to optimum router while I ran test. So I am back to 2mbps.
was just curious i just updated to valek 3.0 and loving it. and its the frist rom ive used with print usb tether and hotspot unlocked. when i have sprints usb on i cant connect to 4g network it scans and reconnects. but when i use easytether 4g is fine. is sprints tether only 3g or whats the deal with that. anyone know a work around to get 4g working or am just stuck with easytether or something.
just curious i wanted to try out sprints tether before i bought easy tether or PDAnet.

This is a known issue, and I don't think anyone has come out with a fix for it yet.
The Vaelpak version of WiFi Tether works flawlessly on Ricsims Stock Turbo 3.70 however, and it is basically the same version of your ROM without the Vaelpak theme.
No need to purchase PDAnet or easy tether.
thanks for the reply i use this as my main internet connection at home through my desktop and dont have a wifi usb dongle paying for one would be just like paying for pdanet so i just use usb tether but ive used up my pdanet "trial" lol and easytether just doesnt seem as good so just wanted to try out the stock sprint usb tether but if i cant get 3g then maybe ill buy pdanet.

So I run a speed test from my phone and I get around 1MB/s but still don't get close to that when I download files. When I tether to my laptop wireless I get around 100-150Kb/s. When I tether with Wired I get around 100Kb/s.
Any suggestions of what is going on here? It seems that Verizon it allowing me to connect super fast to the speed test but not to everything else.
So ive been desperately trying to get USB tethering to work on my Rooted S4 after the 4.3 update. I have the Tmobile SGH-M9191 - M919UVUEMK2, I downloaded and paid $1.95 for Wifi Tether Router and it works fine for Wifi but has no USB tether - I also have unlimited everything and 2.5 GB free tethering which isn't enough. Does anyone know of an app that has usb tethering that works on this phone? I'm willing to flash a ROM, pay for an app, whatever it takes. I get 15 mbps on wifi tether app, but on stock USB tether I get 35+ mbps. Also with usb tether the phone charges while being used. Ive been searching for so freaking long and can't find a solution.
Tmobile and Metro PCS don't block hotspot however they do slow you down once you reach your GB Limit, has anyone managed to get unlimited Wireless Tether?
I'm currently using PdaNet+ which hides tether usage but only to PC's connected through USB. I messed with the app called WiFi tether router but no luck \:
