Droid-X keyboard working with FroYo yet? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone gotten the current Droid-X keyboard working on the FroYo 2.2 update yet?
More specifically, the new Fresh Rom 3.x.x.x, thanks!

the new froyo has a multitouch keyboard too, i don't think we need the Droid X keyboard anymore!

Well, that's your opinion but it's not the multi-touch I like, it's the layout and spacing of the keys.
I dislike the new ForYo keyboard, I want the Droid-X keyboard back. Went back to Fresh Rom 1.0.x until the current Droid-X keyboard is hacked, or FroYo 2.2 is out for the Droid-X phone.

I also prefer the droidx multitouch keybaord over HTCs. Yes I know the stock keyboard in Froyo is multitouch, but I like the droidx keybaord's layout much better.
We won't see a Froyo compatible droidx kb until Froyo gets released on the droidx.
Until then all we can do is sit back and wait.

I'm using the gingerbread keyboard from the market and if you long hold space bar and drag up, you might be able to get some arrows
You could use ultra keyboard with the HTC skin, it looks the same and it more customisable.
I must have spent three hours looking for this today. Thank you so very much whoever modded this for gingerbread.
where i can find the htc skin for ultra keyboard?
I was looking for the same thing came across this thread:

The HTC IME from the addons section works on cm7.0.3!
The only thing is I wanted a pure HTC IME skin, but this one is custom themed. Anybody ideas how I can get it unthemed? I tried repacking it with apktool with graphics from HTC_IME_hi v27 but it didn't work. AppInstaller kept staying application not installed without an explanation as to why
thanks button = poked
Got my new SE Neo yesterday and hated the keyboard, tried a couple of the versions on Gimpsta's sight as this is what I had had on my X10 but wouldn't work. Should have known to check here first, thank you for making my nice new phone now perfect.
Thanks for posting!!
Gonna give this a try on my G2X running 2.3.3, hope this works!
DHD_HTC_IME.apk
u can try this one

just take the apk file (from the 28b version) and install it (is better if installed in the internal storage)! than go to :
Settings---> language and keyboard ---> select htc_ime

[Q] anyone?

Will 2.3 have better bluetooth? I ask because I would like to go back to sense but only if I can use a wiimote for my emulators.
+1
Would love to know if anyone can get a hid keyboard to work on a newer version of sense, which I believe is the problem, not android 2.2 or 2.3.

I believe I read somewhere that the new Sense 3.0 that will be on the Evo 3D will have HID bluetooth, finally. If that's true, in theory, a wiimote controller or hid keyboard should work. I'm not 100% sure on that information, but I'm pretty sure I read it somewhere in the recent past.

I've successfully linked my BT HID based keyboard with cm7.
I haven't tried the leaked rom as I don't intend to run it anyways. AFAIR, the issue was with the 2.2 stack not containing a HID profile. I can't recall if this was the case with aosp 2.2 also, or just 2.2 in general.

Htc sense like keyboard for CM7 (Q)

I have seached every where to find a keyboard like the sense one that comes stock for evo to run on CM7. I have found the htc_ime kitchen which is pretty close but they dont have the arrow buttons to move the cursor.
Anyone have any idea where i can get a keyboard with arrow buttons to move the cursor for CM7?
The arrows are Sense only, I think. Some of the 3rd party keyboards may have the arrows, though.
However, I use the HTC_IME keyboard in CM7/MIUI with no issues. You can set the volume rocker keys to move the cursor back and forth.

I will dig this, because there's no still any IME mod with cursor keys, and I believe it can be done, we just need gingerbread base for this one, not the foryo's, and maybe more, I don't know, but it should be possible. There are much more ppl who will use it.
By the way, "swipe" actions allow to move a word back and forth. It's not the same, but may ease your life.

Again, Swiftkey X is worse. I see no other Swiftkeys in the market. By the way, Swiftkey is not free. Sense is... I had it on my phone as a factory default, so not discussing the licensing too deeply, it's like it would be free ;>. I just would like HTC DHD IME ported to CM7, or something very, very similar in the layout and features.

Just out of curiosity, what don't you like about swiftkey? I've tried out just about every keyboard there is over the last few years and I keep coming back to swiftkey x. The customizations, themes and predictions are top notch imo.

Layout is worse. Some functions are not present (don't remember which ones, tested quite a few weeks ago). It's not free, it's a trial only which will stop working at some point leaving a user which used to it with a choice of paying or getting used to another - not worth of the time if you won't like it, if you will, then it's just a luck. It would be much better to make featureless free version than time limited trial (called "free" in the market by the way - not very polite to lie...)

To each their own, I suppose. I find that the location of the comma and period on the main screen (without having to long press or go to a page 2) makes this one of the best layouts out there.
happy hunting!

Yep, I maybe just used to it too much, but it's too late now ;P. Thanks, but I do not know honestly I will stay with CM, so maybe I will just switch back to Sense... CM is buggy .

If you are looking for another option outside of sense, I've been running Decks reloaded for a few weeks now and it is awesome. I've had trouble with CM being buggy in the past, and I get bored on sense roms but this sucker is slick and FAST. I've been flashing roms on this baby for nearly 2 years now and this is by far the fastest and most stable rom I have ever run:

Of course, this doesn't help your keyboard issue

Heheh, thanks, but it seems it doesn't help at all - I have HTC Desire HD, and there's nothing about Decks working on my phone

HTC_IME?

I apologize if this has been answered, but I've been searching and can't find it.
Is there a version of the 2.3.3 HTC_IME keyboard I can use with AOSP ROMs like Deck's or Vaelpak's AOSP preview? Thanks in advance.
Anyone? Is this possible?
No because it is a sense keyboard and that won't work on aosp, however there numerous great keyboards on the market. It will only take 2 or 3 days to get used to the aosp keyboard, then you'll hate the sense version.
Thanks for the reply. However, I did find these KBs modded for CM that are working great.

[Q] Sense keyboard for CM7.1?

I'm so used to Sense keyboard and I recently flashed CM7.1
I sometimes type and instead of pressing enter I press delete.
Anyone knows how I can get a Sense keyboard?
Well you could try alternate keyboards on the market but the actual sense keyboard will not work. Don't worry, you'll get used to it and love it.
