Just nice, but please ask a designer to make a nice UI for this

Functionality comes first; fancy graphics later!
I am looking at implementing the sense SDK in future revisions. I have some good ideas how it may hang together.

Is it possible to enter a date and have it automatically determine how much time (in days) is left? I've been looking for a program to do this for me. I found T-Day Counter by Marc Zimmermann, which is simple and does exactly what I want it to do. However, it runs on the Today Screen, so I have to turn off Touch Flo to see it. I would prefer to launch a small application from my programs menu

That feature is not currently available in the current release; however I have had a couple of emails requesting this feature, and it is something that i will be implementing in the next version.

NRG Weather 3.0 - "The pretty version..."

Here's Chome Weather 3.0 with a 10 day forecast. Download the cab and enjoy.
1) Install the cab in the link at the bottom of the post.
2) It should ask to reboot ! Press "Ok"
3) Go to your Start Menu and find "Weather Options", or go down to the Settings slide on your homescreen and the second slide will be the CHome Weather options slide.
Set your Zip / Location Code to your zip code if you're in the US or a "location code" if you're anywhere else (ex: ROXX003 for Bucharest). More info on finding your specific code is here http://developer.yahoo.com/weather/#req . Set the "Fahrenheit / Celsius" option. This will only affect the reading of the current conditions panels, not the text descriptions in the forecast panels. Those will always be in Fahrenheit.
Specify whether you would like the application to attempt to connect your default GPRS connection first, before updating. If you have a constant data connection on, leave this on "N". Finally you can turn off the autoupdate feature with the last option #7.
4) Now it might be a good idea to go to Start and find "Update Weather" and run it to update the weather data! Alternatively you can click the center button while you're on any of the forecast panels.
5) The cab should set your Home Screen to "Sliding Panel + Weather!" automatically.
6) Enjoy and report any bugs you might encounter, please.
New features:
- New 6 day forecast layout (layout #7)
- Autoupdate using Yahoo's server time. No manual control over update interval anymore.
- Revised layouts to ensure correct wrapping
- HomeScreen update feature. No need to reboot to see forecast or layout changes. This option is turned off by default because it doesn't work for everybody. If you turn it on and you see problems with your phone's radio turning off, phone becoming very slow etc... turn it off. (it's option #10)
- Added new panel to the Settings panel at the bottom for easy access to the weather updates and settings.
- "Stardock icons" are default for forecast and regular panels.
Screenshot descriptions:
1- IPhone Layout (this is the default layout)
2- Forecast Panels screenshot
3- Slim Panels Layout with the background options enabled
4- HTC Slim Layout while updating
5- HTC Slim Layout in normal mode
6- The HomeScreen with the weather plugin in its "condensed" state at the bottom, showing current conditions
7- Regular Panel Layout with no background.
8- IPhone Slim Layout

Vox Version (Currently still at 3.0.1) > http://www.sendspace.com/file/0bie7d
Current Version: 3.1
Changes in 3.1
- Rearranged the order the various subroutines run.
- Fixed autoupdate issue.
- Removed HTC icons and background PNGs from the cab. Please download them separately from the addons post if you plan to use those layouts.
- Added option to show extended forecast panels on the homescreen or not.
- Added detection routine to detect if your phone's keypad is locked and NOT to update the homescreen is that's the case. Should help with the "Phone - Incoming" message problem that's been reported
- Edited some CPRs for better alignment
- More verbose status messages
- Etc...
More to come soon. The next version will update your clock panel with current conditions info. Just wanted to get this update out of the way first.
Changes in 3.0.1:
- Added 6 day forecast layout.
- Autoupdate feature based on Yahoo server's time.
- Small bugfixes, revised Options panel.
- Compressed PNGs.
- Complete portrait support for the new 6 day layout.
- Background used in screenshots included in .cab.
Changes to 2.0.3:
- completely redesigned Options panel. Hopefully things will be easier to get around. Now it tell you what the current layout used is.
- Fixed HTC Layout (5) text not wrapping down issue.
- Added option NOT to check for internet connection before connecting.
- Options panel keeps track of what layout you're running.
- added blue, purple, WM7 style or original glass panel selection to options panel.
- updated portrait CPRs.
- forecast panels should now display "N/A" icons when a forecast is not available instead of a red x.
- ability to choose between european ("rest of the world pretty much...) or american style dates on the forecast panels.
If you like this application and feel the need to support my work, here's a link to donate to me via PayPal.

DO NOT install this to the storage card. It will not work that way!
p.s. Portrait support is included for the new 6 day layout.
p.s.s. The cab seems to take a few minutes to install, especially if you're installing over 2.0.3. So just be patient I guess...
Update to 3.1
Only install this if you have 3.0.1 or 3.0.2 installed. Otherwise, download the cab in the sendspace link above and install the whole app.
This is the "addons" post.
Added "NRG Power Key..... .cab This will add three options to the menu that comes up when you hit the power key on the side of your Excalibur. "Power off", "Reboot" and "Weather Update". I hope they're self explanatory Have fun. Take note your wireless manager might be gone, or might act erracticaly. If you have problems, just install the cab. Don't post in the thread about it, there's nothing I can do about it.
Download the Calibri font mod if you want your system font to look like the one in the screenshots.
The Yahoo, Spil, Novaweather and 7Degree icon sets are alternative icons sets for most of your layouts and extended forecast panels
Most of the icons sets install as a one time installation application. Which means you will not see it in the "uninstallable" list of program under "Settings". Once you run the cab, it will overwrite whatever icons are installed and that's it...
Reserved... the last one.. I promise
Looks niiice i will be testing on Portrait (tornado)
Good Job
So far so good on my Q9c. Last version had to be uninstalled due to a couple of crashes. The worst being when I plugged into the computer the home screen crashed and would not recover after a reboot.
Like the new layout.
Formatting on QVGA
Incredible progress!
I've attached two SS's from my QVGA, using your layout #9 (Standard 6 day which is only 4 day by the way). As you can see, the bottom Temps are not lined up in either F or C and I looked at the CPR, but it is like Greek to me... I see "Bottom Temps" but fiddling and restarting gives me either to the Right or Left - I don't suppose there is a GUI for modding these CPRs is there?
Can you assist in getting it all lined up?
Thanks and keep up the GREAT work! Expect some more PayPal coming your way!
The new layout looks beautiful. The one thing i might suggest: You may want to add an option in advanced options to turn off the 10 day forecast. Since it appears that im going to be using this 6 day testpluginui ( and several others will be too) they may not want or need the additional 10 day forecast panel.
I personally know how to disable it via the registry, but others may not. Secondly, If that option is de-selected, if you can also put in the weather.mscr file to not update that panel, so that way the weather updater runs a little faster.
Edit: I also think that today's Hi/Lo under the city needs to be removed. Its kind of redundant info, since the same info is located in the 6 day forecast located in the first day of the 6 day forecast.
This will also allow more room for lengthier weather condition names.
Damn,
Free service is at full capacity, hope someone can mirror it later.....
I'm anxious to try it
I installed on my Q9c and I still get that font issue with large text boxes in PIE, however, I'm willing to put up with it at this point since the 6-day layout means I don't have to reboot the phone to see the latest forecast.
Any idea what might be causing the font issue? Since this weather panel is basically just scripts reading XML files and making registry changes, I can't imagine that it'd be too hard to figure out what's causing the PIE font issue. The font issue isn't a huge deal and I'd completely ignore it if it weren't for the fact that the digital font makes no differentiation between upper and lower case and many special characters just show up as boxes.
I dumped the 10-day panel and added a link to the Weather Update in my links panel if I ever decide to manually update the weather.

It may be the chome_320X240.cpr file in your /windows directory. When you load a layout. his program pulls .cprs from the chomeweather directory and replaces your original chome_320X240.cpr file ... you may uninstall. copy over your chome320X240.cpr file do your PC's desktop and open it and whatever .cpr file you use for the weather layout and compare the differences.
Glad you guys like it. I'm sorry the portrait guys are still experiencing issues, like the misalignment of the bottom temps. However, the issue needs to be taken care of in the weather.mscr file, not the cpr file. I think I will switch to png rendering of the bottom temps instead of relying on text handled by the plugin. It's just not reliable at all and the temps are always a little misaligned....
Look for 3.0.1 at the end of the day... LOL

I second that, the testui pluig in is enough for me, I already remove the welcome center because is no need to get it on the screen, anyway it looks besutiful, great work......
Great work as always, man. Amazing how you fit so much information in such a small place.
Personally, I'm sticking with the NRG Slim layout for now. Going for the "less is more" effect
Whats Vox version and how do i get my NRG Colored panels with the 5 day forcast like on PIcture 4?

Point taken. I will remove the "hi -lo" in the top left corner and make enabling the welcome center an option
Excuse me for the question, but will this app work on regular WM6, or it only works with WM 6.1 Chome?
No chances to have a version for WM6?

this app is specifically written for the sliding panel homescreen. The sliding panel homescreen is only available on the WM 6.1 platform. So no. it does not and will not work on the WM6 interface
I've got the shakes...
Oh man... I SO wanna download this and "finagle" while I'm here at work, but I'll need to edit my cpr and it's too cumbersome trying to do it from the phone (instead of on my PC desktop). Blast! My love for boldened titles hinders me from enjoying this .cab this instant! lol

S2U2

S2U2
Although S2U2 is now called v1.05 it doesn't mean it can be run perfectly on your device. Thanks to different devices produced by different vendors. So, please test it before use it everyday, especially the CallerID function.
What is S2U2?
S2U2 (Slide2Unlock2) is a simple lock/unlock application which has the iPhone style slide unlocking. It can be used as a screensaver while you don't use your device. And it's has a CallerID function (but some devices may not work, so please try it first); and S2P control plugin.
Prerequisition:
- WM5 Phone or WM6 Professional devices
- free RAM: at least 1M for QVGA; 3M for VGA
Changes of v1.05
- fixed the bug introduced in v1.02 that the clock did not update occasionally on device wake up;the idle time out occasionally malfunction; and the wallpaper did not change occasionally.
- the total unread count for FlexMail now reads to a maximum of 10 storages.
- fixed the bug that displayed night icon for Spb Weather.
- fixed the bug that some devices could not run probably on landscape mode.
- added support to RealVGA.
- added support to WVGA & WQVGA.
- some minor bugs fixed.
Mod Edit:
Perhaps you could explain why you are posting links on different forums that all go to a certain website. Link removed. You are also duplicating info shown here:

you must be new here. hahaha. welcome.

Four Weather Applications for Windows Mobile 6.1 (only)

I have started this for the purpose of having a stickied thread that points you to the three (currently) working weather apps for Windows Mobile 6.1 (Kavana and Rickwyatt ROMs). The program creators have created a post for their version of their weather application and have provided the info, screenshots and links to the original thread to obtain the application. This will allow you to judge which application suits you best and it will preserve the threads, should they get buried deep within the annals of this forum.
NRG's MiniWeather 1.0
Features of MiniWeather 1.0 :
- Autoupdate according to Yahoo servers' time + 10 minutes + 1-5 random minutes (so we don't all hit the server at the same exact times)
- Update in 15 minutes when no connection is found.
- Verbose status information as the script is running.
- Detailed Forecast panels can be turned off in "Advanced Options"
- Application will not automatically refresh the screen while the phone's keypad is locked.
- Built-in leftover notifications removal tool, in case you want to uninstall. See "advanced options".
Please go HERE to visit the original thread and to download the appplication.
NRG Weather 3.0
This is Chome Weather 3.1 with a 10 day forecast. It's the full version of MiniWeather with several layouts to choose from. It's also a much larger install...
Features:
- New 6 day forecast layout (layout #7)
- Autoupdate using Yahoo's server time. No manual control over update interval anymore.
- Revised layouts to ensure correct wrapping
- HomeScreen update feature. No need to reboot to see forecast or layout changes. This option is turned off by default because it doesn't work for everybody. If you turn it on and you see problems with your phone's radio turning off, phone becoming very slow etc... turn it off. (it's option #10)
- Added new panel to the Settings panel at the bottom for easy access to the weather updates and settings.
- "Stardock icons" are default for forecast and regular panels.
p.s. Portrait support is included for the new 6 day layout.
Please go HERE to download the application and to visit the original thread.
ODSHOWeather WM 6.1
Showaco, I are happy to bring you our weather panel. We have worked on testing this thing for a while.
We have new panels that display without affecting any of your other panels whatsoever.
We have a great feed, it is brought by our corporate sponser, Accuweather.
They have really put up a great feed for us to use, and it is updated constantly.
This is hands down the best weather app out there for the visual candy lovers. With the standard version without system monitor, it uses no battery or memory as far as hogging goes.
With that being said. Check out our link to the app for full feature info and check out the app and be amazed at its seemingly endless options you can set, like voice updates with 4 voices to choose from. Several layouts, and lite on the phone's memory, ahh, it is nice to be free...
Please go HERE to download the application and to visit the original thread.
The smallest weather app available has just gone on a diet, it started at 950kb and now comes in at a lightweight sub 850 kb. Its been slimmed down in size but not in weather data available. The new TotalClock cab has the full five day and current conditions within the clock panel itself. Check out the screenshots below, you only see one day at a time for a nice clean look. Hit the right soft key to advance thru the days and when you done, it has a timer to reset itself to current conditions after 60 seconds of non-flipping of the forecast pages.
For those who would rather have it seperate, the original version still uses a seperate forecast panel along with current conditions only in the clock panel. But even though it hasn't changed, I have managed to squeeze another 100 kb off of it.
On the original version clock panel you get info for current: temperature, icon, real feel temp, winds, humidity, visibility, barometer, uv level, cloud cover, precipitation, sunrise, sunset, air quality levels, and dewpoint. Also, on the clock panel you get tomorrow's forecast: conditions, hi/lo temperatures, real feel high temps, winds, and estimated precipitation.
On condensed clock panel, there is current temp, current condition icon, time, and todays Hi/Lo temperatures. So if you dock your clock, you will always have weather and time showing on homescreen.
And for a full forecast, there is a 5 day forecast panel that can be enabled or disabled. The forecast pages have info for: day, date, conditions, hi/lo temperatures, precipitation estimates, uv levels, and winds expected.
Both have a user set time interval for the updates depending on your needs, wants, or data plans. Just go to setup and specify the interval in minutes. The default is 30 minutes. The forecast data updates every 8th time weather update runs, that way you get updated forecast info every 4 hrs if you use the default for current condition updates.
To install: For now, install to main memory, I'm working on either or version.
Download the cab. After installation, it should prompt you to restart. If it doesn't, then restart your phone to set new clock panel in place. After reboot, wait about 10 seconds and the FeatherOptions will run automatically. Go to Setup and set all of your info, good idea to go ahead and set your right soft key on the clock panel at this time. After setup, exit options by selecting "Run Weather Update and Exit".
That's it, your done.
NOTE: I beleive I worked out my problem with mortscript registering itself, but if it doesn't auto start the options after 10 seconds, then go to FeatherWeather folder in Program Files and click on Mortscript.exe .
To uninstall: Go to Settings, Remove Programs and uninstall the cab. It may not change your clock panel back, but it will remove everything else. To revert clock panel back, install an original cpr or cpr of your choice.(note: the cpr should revert back to original on uninstall by itself if you reboot.)
City Location Codes:
For anyone that needs to find their city code, use this link and change the location in this url to the name of your city and then go to it and it will give a list of all cities worldwide that have that name. Get your location from there and enter it exactly as it appears in the quotes, but do not use the quotes.
http://hadle.accu-weather.com/widget...ation=calcutta
So, for this link above, if you were looking for Calcutta, India. Go to this link, and you will see a line like this:
<location cnt="1" city="Calcutta" state="India(Bangla)" location="ASI|IN|IN036|CALCUTTA" />
So your location to enter in to options would be :
ASI|IN|IN036|CALCUTTA
This should work for cities worldwide.
Feather currently is installed with a slim panel layout only. If you want more dll or cpr options, they are easily installed with FileChanger. Those are more homescreen customizations than they are weather customization, thats why they aren't in here.
For landscape phones: If you don't want the slim panels, I have standard panels cpr and mini panels cpr that work specifically with FeatherWeather. They are in the Featherscprs.zip below. Just install with the FileChanger app or copy into windows folder. Click on the File Changer in my signature below for the File Changer thread and download.
New Portrait versions below, the last 2 cabs that names end with "P" are the portrait versions. Portrait versions updated 8/19/08 with new cpr. If you already installed, you can download the cpr zip only and install to windows directory.
Check out these new portrait layouts provided by Kron2:
Make sure you get the landscape or portrait version you need, first 2 are Landscape, last 2 are Portrait

[ROM][New video demos]Schap's 5.00 ROMs with TouchXperience UI-Call to beta testers

As some of you know, I am currently working on a touch user interface (since more than 10 months), fully compatible with HTC Diamond, it even takes advantage of G-sensor and touch-sensitive control pad, and I plan to develop a 3D user interface in a future version.
I will prepare soon a private beta, and if there is no major issue I would like to release a first public version in about 2 weeks. But please don’t take too much into consideration this date, be aware that contrary to other ROM cookers who only take programs from other ROMs I have developed the whole user interface from scratch, so it’s a really huge work (more than 1000 hours at the moment) and it’s hard to fix a release date.
As for other devices, Diamond ROMs will be multilingual and available in two versions: Full (with TouchXperience User Interface) and Lite (maximal storage space).
I am looking for some motivated and experienced people to participate to this private beta. I need only about 20 people so I will choose first people who could really help me, better is if you have WM cooking or development knowledges. I don’t want to get thousands of messages asking “please please send me the ROM” like it was in the other threads, so please don’t ask me to participate if you don’t have solid arguments. If you are interested, let me a post here (explaining in what you are good, if I don’t know you) and I will contact you later by PM if you are selected.
More info about TouchXperience User Interface and video demos:
http://www.touchxperience.com/
TouchXperience is the Next Generation User Interface for Windows Mobile, finger friendly and highly customizable, it offers many interesting features: program launcher, contacts manager, home screen, appointments, messaging, task manager, profile and event manager, call log, control panel, communication manager,...
TouchMenu is probably the most powerful and customizable menu, replacing original Start Menu for an innovative touch interface. TouchMenu supports finger scrolling and gestures, for example you can switch from a menu to another by sliding your finger left/right, or display context menu by a long press on the screen. You can also scroll menus using G-sensor. Each menu has four different views (large list, small list, large grid, small grid). As the rest of the future user interface, TouchMenu has a nice Vista/WM7 look.
TouchMenu has various built-in menus :
- All Programs (Start Menu replacement)
- Active Programs (Task Manager)
- Recent programs
- Favorite programs
- Settings (Control Panel)
- Documents
- Favorite websites
- Contacts
- Messaging
- Appointments
- Tasks
- Calls (Call Log)
- Communications (Comm. Manager)
- RSS feeds
- Power Actions
- End Actions
- One Touch Settings
But you can do much more by creating your own custom menus where you can add contacts, program shortcuts, website links, system actions (for example: reset device, rotate screen, sound profile, clock, brightness backlight, WMP status,...) or links to other menus. You can also replace icon for each program/folder/contacts/menu with a custom image.
TouchHome is a fully customizable screen where you can add various widgets and graphical elements (clocks, indicators, today items, texts, images,...). By default, TouchHome displays when you turn your phone on. You can make your own graphics and layout using XML. TouchHome can be also used as screen unlocker (unlock screen by sliding finger, by double tapping, by shaking device, using navigation scroll wheel,...).
Use GPS or cell-based geo-positioning to determine current location and create profiles for each location.
Custom Events is a powerful application which execute predefined actions when custom events occur. The principle is simple, each custom event is defined by:
- A basic event (application changed, location changed, new message, new incoming call, battery charging, device cradled, headset connected, Wi-Fi network detected, internet connection detected, ,...)
- Eventually some conditions (date/time, current application, current location, specific words in message, caller identity,...)
- An action (launch application, display notification, enable flight mode, turn on Wi-Fi, change profile, send message, ,...)
There will be hundreds of events and actions, so possibilities are very large! Here are some examples:
- Enable flight mode during nights
- Connect to Wi-Fi while battery is charging
- Deactivate alarm when I turn my device face down
- Put phone in silent mode at workplace
- Remind me to buy bread when I’m near to the bakery
Supports finger gestures on touch-sensitive control pad (experimental, for HTC Touch Diamond/Touch Pro only) to execute different system actions, in this way you can have up to 8 “virtual buttons” on your device.
Supports display auto-rotation navigation using G-sensor (experimental, for HTC Touch Diamond/Touch Pro only).
TouchXperience User Interface is designed for a future usage of hardware accelerated 3D graphics for an outstanding experience!

i would be glad to help
Sounds really really nice.
If I can be of any help I'll be glad to, comes from Hermes and Kaiser and now has Diamond.
Tried some of your roms before and liked some, but not all, but this seems really exciting.

I can Help
Hello mate,
I have cooked (mostly my own) ROMs for Elf, Niki and Cruise so I have considerable background on the components of the WM OS and the overall structure of the devices (not so much the Diamond to be honest as I'm still trying to get to understand its internals).
If you like, I would more than willing to help out with Beta testing whether it's to focus on a specific area or just overall testing. I also have experience in QA so I can pick out little things that need ironing out
Cheers from Dubai!
WOAH! Schaps, this sounds awesome. I'd be happy to beta test your TouchXperience UI. Coming from an iPhone background, I'd love to see more thumb/finger friendliness in our Diamonds.
EDIT: Checked out the site and the screenshots and it looks fab so far !
Couple of questions, would there be a new finger/thumb friendly Calendar app? (I totally despise the stock WM one) Also, do you plan on integrating a more thumb friendly keyboard for input? The standard Diamond one is okay but I tend to be a fast typer and because the screen on the Diamond is relatively small, it is prone to keystroke errors and the Diamond keyboard does not have any type of correction method (i.e. as included with the PCM Keyboard - I use this but a lack of VGA skins is highly disappointing).
All in all I can't wait to test this - I thought the Diamond would have been more thumb/finger friendly but tend to find myself pulling out the dreaded stylus now and then.. Something I hoped I could have gotten away from. Cheers for the great effort Schaps!
WOW
Love to test the new interface.
Moral Support!!
Schap,
im not a pro in any of these programming. But at least i can sent some moral supports!!
It's a great development All the best to you
Very nice ...I will pleasure, when i test this program...

P.S.: I will soon work on a new Advanced Config. version fully compatible with Touch Diamond and Touch Pro. Advanced Configuration Tool V3 will come with a new finger-friendly interface.

@ Schaps, could you look into the possibility to add "default mediaplayer chooption" in order to link Bluetooth devices to other players not forcing to use WMP linked with TF3D .
There is a cab out there from RuffRuff (still need to test it) , but including this possible solution in AdvConfig V3 would be a big added value.
As for the Beta testing , it starts to look like recruting for La Legion etrangere (The Foreign Legion)
People want but how many can give ?
Anyway, success with the new UI + Rom combination. Looking forward.

[Wishful Thinking] GUI design

I couldn't sleep this night too well, so my mind was wandering about what a perfect GUI would be like.
I'm writing this in the blackstone group -because that's the mobile phone I have... This topic would of course be quite general stuff anyway.
And my mind produced something with my home/start view would be split into 6 areas. (excluding softkeys)
1 2
3 4
5 6
Each of the areas would then be large enough for not-so-perfect clicker and they would be large enough to show readable information. At least on the Blackstone with it's 480x800 resolution.
One could then configure a basic setup for each of the areas. Call the widgets or apps or whatever, each area could have an easily changeable app - the same app could also have either more standalone instances on 1-6 areas (for example football live tickers) - or the app could use the combined area of all the assigned areas (could be problematic with app design - how would a calendar app know that it has been assigned 2 areas for it's usage)
An example of the last:
I could have a basic configuration of (nevermind if they make sense, just an example)
1 - Tasks
2 - Clock
3 - Calendar
4 - Weather, with location picked from the calendar
5 - Call log
6 - Email notifications
Now when I would tip one of the areas shortly, that would open the app in fullscreen.
And if I would tap and hold the area, I would get a menu where I could...
* change area/screen configuration
* change app temporarily (so that after certain time the preset app would return in this area)
* or do some other stuff.
An example of the last chapter:
I could tip and hold area 6 and change the app in it to a live football ticker to follow a match and then after 3 hours the area would switch back to the email notifications. Or I could tip and hold area 1 to change it to a music player for the next hour.
I know this isn't realisable that easily with current winmo themes (not to full content), but I liked to share the idea and see if someone would even comment on it.

I'm, at work so writing quickly, but this sounds very similar to Sony Experia's Panels, which can be downloaded as a cab
