Stuck at Red Caution sign recovery mode - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I brought my phone back to stock before 2.2. Whenever I try to flash the recovery I get brought to the Evo background with the red caution sign. I have tried Simple root .1, and the OTA version and I also used the evo recovery file.
Its not working, I can't flash my recovery.

How are you trying to flash recovery?

When you get to the red caution screen hit volume up/down and the power button together, and it should take you to the recovery.

Actually, hold the volume up for several seconds, and then press power.

If you fully converted to stock before going to 2.2 then you no longer have a custom recovery. If you reverted to a stock rooted 1.47 build and then flashed a stock rooted 3.26 build your recovery should still be there. What is version number is your hboot?

Thanks Guys figured it out.

Flashing Rom help!!!

Im fully rooted, and I was able to flash to Fresh's rom. I guess not deleting the Pc36*** file, when it rebooted, i panicked (lol) and reinstalled the stock rom...
Now I have absolutely no idea how to get back to the green recovery screen where I can flash from zip...
Is it me, is it a adb thing?
Any help is greatly appreciated....
if you have a custom recovery: power the phone off, hold volume down and then press the power button. Continue to hold volume down. Make sure the pc img is off the sd card, wait for it to go through the motions then enter recovery

Where do i go from here partner?
yeah, so try doing what I said above. Turn off phone, hold volume down, press power and release and continue holding down. You will get to hboot and it will scan for the pcimg and should not find it and present you with a menu. Go to recovery and that should be it

I did so, and its just sitting idle with the phone & red triangle. My only option from here is vol up and power to take me to the blue reboot screen...
Thanks for the help by the way...
hmmm, I would have thought you would have a custom recovery from Part II of toast's rooting guide. Have you unlocked your nand through that procedure?
in any case, you can always download rom manager from the market, and that will allow you to install a custom recovery and boot into recovery from android. I am not sure if the new version requires nand unlock so make sure you have done part II of toasts root guide

I was able to flash from the green recovery screen tho. Im not understanding this. I even updated the radio and wimax thru the same green screen...
Thanks for your help..
how were you flashing before? did you use clockwork recovery (i think thats what it's called) through rom manager?
I dont think that I have clockwork on my phone. I was able to vol dwn/power, hboot would see the PC36*** because I was not informed to delete it, and instead of updating i selected NO, and it took me to the green recovery screen...
Ok, so I would try flashing the recovery from the second part of Toast's rooting guide. If you can do that, then you can just use the volume + power thing to get to hboot, then select recovery and it should take you into the recovery that you flashed. From that recovery you can wipe flash backup, and all that good stuff.
you dont need to do the whole part 2 over, just the part about flashing the custom recovery.

[Q] CM7 stable won't install

I am currently running CM7.0.0-RC2-Slide, and I saw that there was a stable CM7 available, but after following cyanogen's instructions on installing, and after rebooting the phone, I come to a black screen with an image of a phone and a red triangle with a ! in the middle, on the top right of the image.
My technology savvy roommate said I need to flash the newest clockwork recovery with ADB, but i just can't figure anything out.
I just want the new CM7 on my phone and be happy already. I'm half tempted to just revert back to stock and upgrade to 2.2.
Can anyone please help shed some light on my dilemma?

The red triangle screen is the stock recovery. The instruction at the cyanogen wiki says:
15. Once in the recovery, you will see a device with a triangle. Press Volume Up & the Power button.
16. Use the Volume Down button to highlight Apply update.zip & press the Power button to select this.
17. After a moment, the TMobile myTouch Slide will boot into the ClockworkMod Recovery.

The update.zip in this case is the ClockworkMod recovery. The link to that file is in the wiki. Once you are in ClockworkMod Recovery you can proceed to wipe and install the update-cm-7.0.0-Slide-signed.zip
P.S: BTW you can't flash a permanent CWM Recovery on this device without being S-OFF. That's why for S-ON devices you always have to get into CWM Recovery from the Stock Recovery.

Red triangle in Android belly when I try to revert back to recovery

As I stated in the title, when I try to flash back the stock recovery, it flashes ok, then when it tries to load it gives me an android with an red exclamation mark in the belly.
What can I do to revert back to recovery?
imm76D, 4.04, root, cwm (was before I put the stock one)
10x
Once that pops up...
Press Volume +, Volume -, and Power.
i know how to get into fastboot mode, I dunno how to put the stock recovery back

That is the stock recovery. When you see that, in order to access its menu, you need to: Pres volume up and power together repeatedly until you see the menu. It's a little finicky, so you will likely have to repeat it a few times.

Stock Recovery

I wanted to return my M8 to stock recovery. I found the img file and flashed it. Just to test it out, I booted into fast boot and selected recovery. It brought me to a screen that had the phone with a red triangle and exclamation point. The only way to get out of it was to hold power and volume up. Is this the correct stock recovery?
Yes it is.

Just holding volume up + power button eventually restarts the phone. To get into the recovery just hold volume up and TAP power button, it'll then take you into recovery menu. From there you can reboot device anyways as there really isn't all that much to do with stock recovery. But yeah, you have the right one there then.
Ok. Thanks. I returned to stock because after I rooted I found that I didn't want to change much. Instead of staying rooted, I reverted back to stock so I can get future OTA's.

Can't install OTA after flashing back to stock

flashed back to stock but the ota wont install. When the tablet boots into recovery, I get a 'no command' error. Tried the volume up and power but that reboots into the same page. I tried reflashing the stock rom and just flashing the bootloader and recovery files but no luck. I'm not looking to root or customize the tablet, just keep it stock. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.
I'm having the same issue.

You're flashing an older image and trying to take an ota? Why? Just flash the latest image.

Because there is a new ota update not integrated in last published 6.0 factory image. With netflix and something else fix, sized 2.2 mb.
Got mine to install. Was able to get into stock recovery. Boot into bootloader, (reboot, hold down power and volume down buttons), select recovery. When you get to the android screen with the red triangle, hold the power button and touch the volume up button. Takes you to recovery. I wiped the cache and rebooted, then was able to take the ota.

Thanks. That worked perfectly. Ha, I have always been rooted and using twrp. That was the first time I actually used the stock recovery for something.
