I am looking for a Armband for my EVO. I would like to find one that allows me to view the screen while it is in the band. I got one from Ebay that came from Hong Kong that says it will work for the phone but it is tight (so tight is causes signal loss) on the phone and only can view 2/3 of screen. If anyone out there has gotten one or seen one please let me know.

I am not sure how being tight would cause signal loss unless your seeing the signal loss while it is strapped to you arm, in which case it is your arm, not the case.
As for your question, have not seen any yet, my wife sews like crazy so when I need something like that I just ask her for it lol.

Yeah, it cause signal loss in the wireless network and the GPS. even if it is not on my arm. A friend says it being tight would cause a pinch on the chip. To much pressure on the screen it what he says. He is a electronic engineer too. So i would believe him.
Your friend is wrong. The chip for wifi and cell is on the back of the board away from the screen. At most it may be signal attenuation due to a material in the case.
To show I am not talking out my ass here.

As you can see the chips are on the back of the board.
As someone with seven years of RF experience I just have to say, this is the most absurd thing I have ever read online.

Which part?
the reception thing sounds crazy
i use an arm band for an ipod touch that is a "stretchy/spongy" material and i can still see the phone and change songs through the thick plastic coating on the front. I sweat ALOT too and still never had water damage after 45 min+ runs
its very similar to this one but an older model i think(had it for years for my 1st gen zune). Just stretch it out lol

Very cool, interresting spring-in cylinder near the hinge. Is that the source of the weak hinge woes? (I actually have no problem with the hinge =))
We see, that it HAS spring... Wtf happened to it?
ha! so the hinge is actually spring loaded? Anybody think the "hinge problem" can be fixed by just using a tighter spring?
good thing i held off on buying it. whoever said the hinge works mainly on gravity is just spewing BS...
Doesn't the fact that the spring is at right angles to the opening direction of the phone mean it's not contributing towards the actual opening/closing ? And perhaps it's just a spring-loaded thing to release the clips to take the phone apart ? I could be way off though.
Couldn't that spring be like part of the antenna?
One of my previous phones also had a coil antenna like that inside.
I must agree that it looks like it's part of the hinge, but then again it also looks like it's not directly connected to it.
It doesn't looks like 'a spring' to me... more like an antenna.

You can open your keyboard and see a lift in that place, I don't think that it's antenna
Its a spring for the hinge, if you move the top half of the phone vertical downwards (with respect to the phone and not the ground, you'll be moving the top half parallell to the ground considering the phone is on a flat surface) while holding the bottom fixed you can feel the spring give slightly.
I dont know what it is but if it is spring for hinge mechanism it seems to be broken. At the first picture the device is closed. At the second one it is open. Spring is the same, not shorter or longer.
So I guess that it dont work?

Like I suggested earlier, the spring is at right-angles to the direction of opening. So I'm not suprised it doesn't change.
It is a spring to govern the hinge. See this thread on the G2 forums, which explains how to modify your hinge if it seems too loose !

cool.. only thing that i hate about this phone is its slide type..
I was worried about it breaking when being removed but after seeing this video

WOW
i thought it was cheap but !!!!!!!

Can you imagine a car body made of that plastic
Damn...I had no idea how decent it was. I guess Samsung really know their hardware.

Yea, I figured it wouldn't be that brittle.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
Normally when you bend plastic , it goes white at the bend point as is damaged/weakened , no sign of that here
This grade of plastic is more expensive than aluminium, and for good reasons. Im happy I have this phone and not one with an aluminium cover.
Great, I thought mine was going to break when taking it off lol
that's pretty damn impressive.
Not even fatigue
im amazed, but has anyone else tried this with theirs?

I was about to but then i looked inside my pants and realised my balls are not big enough.
Before people go trying this are we sure this is not third party? Don't recognise the logo under the camera, unless it's a carrier one?
I've tried it with mine, no problem at all.. It pop's right back to it's original state.. Did it however when temperatures were high (>25 Celcius), somehow i get the feeling that matters also a bit..
By the way.. The logo is of Anycall, it's the Korean telecom division from Samsung.
thats awesome, seems better than the SE Vivaz battery cover (my last phone)...
there's been no day i havent found something new and awesome about my SGSII =)
lmao nice one tbh first time i took it off was like omg its gonna break now i just rip it off lol but put my mind at rest im not gonna damage it
Has anybody tried bending their backcover like in the video, just in case it was a special rubber one
No way.. I wont try it
When I first took the cover off my new SGS2, I was extremely disappointed to see how flimsy the back cover was and was handling it like it was going to snap at any second..
Very nice to see that it is pretty strong, although I have no intention of testing the hardiness of my own one
Gutsy
It definitely took balls for that guy to try it on the video the first time. We can't even try it after seeing a demonstration!
I got so relieved when i saw that video xD
Got so scared the couple times i had to remove it
"Oh god, need to open the case again, its totally gonna break now!"
My thought every single time xD
looking for where to put my phone while jogging i have found "arm-bands" which i find annoying... the question is, does a similar accessory exist but that can be strapped to your leg or waist in a similar manner to gun cases for example, but for phones?
Sent from my GT-S5830 using Tapatalk 2
Hey! It's an interesting question. I, as far as i'm concerned, do not know about those leg-bands. I don't think they exist. I mean, just think of the forces applied to your phone while jogging; it would eventually break. I hope i helped you somehow.
I have one of those armbands, but rather than have it hooked to my biceps, I actually strap it to my left forearm so I can look at my info when I'm running. (I have it paired to a Zephyr HxM HRM so I can see if my heart rate is too fast or not). it also allows me to switch music tracks easily as well)
Maybe that will help out if you hook it so it's right above the widest part of your forearm.
EDIT: come to think of it: some of these armbands also sell an "extension" band.... i guess if you get 2 or those extensions, you can wrap it around your thigh so it works as a "leg band"?
I guess you are right, but then guns would have a similar problem (jumping out of place or something like that)
But I after looking around a small hip bag might do the job...
I think a hipbag designed for cell phones might be an interesting idea.

when you say hip bag.. you mean fanny pack right? if so, you can get those anywhere.. although they tend to be... conspicuous and very gaudy in many cases..

I used to use a Nike Wrist Coach with my Sensation. It's one of those playcard forearm sleeves that quarterbacks wear that has the plays on them. It work pretty well for jogging; I would have My Tracks and Play Music running and I could glance it my phone to check my pace, distance and change songs. I could even use voice to text to send messages.
Then I lost my Sensation in a cab.
You might want to go to a sporting goods and check it out. The GS3 is much thinner than the Sensation, so it might work.

hello has anyone used their s4 without the battery cover? Reason I ask is because I have a UAG CASE + ZEROLEMON BATTERY + WIRELESS CHARGING PAD. It causes the UAG to not sit flat on the raised feet.
Anyways is anything bad going to happen without the battery cover?
No problem, it's just a piece of plastic, there are no integrated antennas or anything. If you can prevent your battery from falling out you'll be fine.
Yes you can use it without the battery cover, let me know how it fits on your UAG case without the cover. I'm interested in that battery but I don't want a bulge on the back of my case

I read in another thread(forget which one) awhile back that the signal is actually weaker without the back cover. Weird, but that's what I remember reading.
No way does the cover have anything to do with reception, you read wrong, other than the battery just falling out, it can run cover free.
Not recommended but ok.

In some phone ya back plate holds antenna connections. For example my old HTC Sensation had it. And iPhone 4 has it. But Samsung never had it on back cover. Yes u can use phone without it but it will catch dust inside fast in your case you should be fine because u going to have case.

I use mine without the original back cover. NFC works, wireless charging works. The case I use is Ringke Fusion Hybrid.

Well that's one person saying that but the fact is, the back cober is plastic, no antenna in it. I don't see how that would affect anything at all.

It's hacky, but it works. Let me know if you guys want a write-up.
NOTE: You don't have to break the back of the watch to get this to work. I broke it a while back.

ouch is an understatement
hope that NEVER happens to my watch
Sweet Mercy that looks painful!
Nice hack though, I'm always on the lookout for interesting hardware mods!
Question though, mine has started cracking too... anything other than aesthetics affected by it? Heart rate monitor or dust ingress? It would be good to know what to expect if my crack starts expanding... maybe I should dremel it preemptively?
Eek, how did you break it like that?!
Let me guess your real job is a butcher!

call motorola and get a free replacement. No reason to have a cracked back! You even get a free charging cradle out of the whole thing (and I think the replacements are stronger because I haven't had an issue since I got it swapped)

I'm in that situation where I bought it from someone who bought it in the US, and I find myself in Canada... And Motorola isn't capable of shipping me a replacement, unless I give them a US based address... Seems like too much of a hassle really, everything else is fine, and it had this tiny crack when I bought it (the guy had small wrists, much smaller than mine). I check it every night before I put it on the charger, hasn't expanded at all.
Given some horror stories I've read online of DOA units, dead pixels that aren't covered by warranty and other things, I'd rather stick with my perfectly functional one . Worst case, I'll just dremel the edges to reduce strain.
Thanks for the advice though! :good:

I'm sorry, but to be honest... It looks like ****...
Im sorry but i stall cant stop laughing
The cracks happen when using wrong bands. The metal bands push against the glass back and they crack the glass. Normally the back won't crack when using the genuine strap. I had the pebble steel on the moto360 and saw the glass started damaging so I removed it. If I had it still on then it would have cracked almost certainly
There sure are! At Southern Straps we have NATOs for the MOTO 360
Check us out when you get the chance. Out straps come with a Lifetime Warranty and our founder came from the Android Wear project.
Our bands fit Apple, Pebble and all Android Wear watches!
