I have a HTC HD2 Rom version 1.72.110.4. When I make or recieve a phone call, there is a vertical slider that is used to access options including the notepad, calendar and speaker.
Is there a registry setting that can disable the slider so that I have ready access to the options buttons?
Thanks in advance
Why?

I have a desire with stock unrooted ROM. Its also been upgraded OTA to the latest froyo release.
I am sure the standard web browser used to have zoom buttons appear when you scrolled up and down but they have gone and I can't get them back.
Cleared the user data and removed the SD card but still they are not there.
Anyone know how to fix this?
you can pinch-zoom you know...
Yeah but the zoom buttons are great for one handed use. Gotta get em back.
Can anyone confirm the buttons are there on their desire with the latest build?

Because I am steering with my knees and I have a beer in the other hand
HTC have confirmed that the zoom buttons should be there on build 2.10.405.2 but they want me to send the phone back to the service centre to resolve the issue. Really don't want to have to do that!
Menu option
Just checked my menu.
*open standard webkit browser
*menu -> more -> settings (I presume, I have Dutch language menu's)
*beneath my 'standaardzoom' (standard zoom), I have the option to tick off/on 'Show visual zoom control'.
That's what you are looking for.
Thank god for chevron, allowing us to have custom ringtones. but what about notifications? is there an installer for that? is it possible to make one using the ringtone one as a blueprint? yes i just got a wp7...
I would like to know also. My Phone has NO VISUAL Notifications Light(e.g Blackberries) which pisses me off since its common sense to include one. I was curious if there is a software that can TURN the center Window key into a notifications Light. e.g make it blink or something...

There is a swype like option in the default HTC keyboard settings by enabling tracing. Can even change colour of the tracer.
The HTC note application is able to sync to evernote server.
Able to grp sms on sense ics
Please continue to add to this thread to be useful.
Thanks!
- turn off fastboot at settings/power uncheck it and reboot.
- turn off 3 fingers swipe at display
apparently these solved most of the screen glitches problem with camera and browser.
Most people may know this but I will put my part in. You can change colour of lock ring based on which scene you choose. Ands there's a pointless feature where when you touch or drag something there's a circle cursor on screen... Can be found in settings - developer options

Its not pointless. I assume its main purpose is to allow you to monitor how accurate the display is in regards to your touches (in fact I can see that my typing is slightly to the left of each button) and I know many use it to show video demos (I.e. they use it to show where they touched the screen... watch an angry birds tutorial and you'll see what I mean)

been lurking for a while and registered to add this...
As well as the taking photos while videoing, you can take (extract) photos while playing back the video. Had a dig in the manual - couldn't find this mentioned.

go to personalize and than the second entry in the list (i dont know what its called in english) there you have 6 different "scenes" and in some of them, the lock ring color(is it color or colour?) is changed
US - color
all the other countries - colour
Here is a cool feature that I found out the other day. I'm not sure if its new or not though.
If you use google voice and recieve text messages via google voice. The HTC messaging client will bring those texts in and unify all your texts in one area. If you continue the conversation it uses the google voice number in that message.
There is an app on the phone which is called in Dutch "Laat zien" which had a lot of info about features of the One X.
I guess its called something like show me in english

I found a unique feature where if you take your phone out in front of iphone users, they look at their device in despair and start crying!!!
Found this and might be of use..
Did you know you can use the icon that pops up when you click a volume key?
Quickly cycle through silent, vibrate etc. !)

Hi all,
I have searched already for the answer but couldn't see any answer.
I cannot change the notification sound for the HTC Mail application, there is an option for sound and vibrate but no option to change the sound, which is strange, I find the default sound too quiet.
Is there away to change this or would I need to download a mail app?
Thanks.

What a stupid place to put the setting, it's been bugging me for a while!
Hi all,
I have a HTC Desire Z running Audacity Beta 4 (+++)
As far as I can tell, there's no way of configuring a volume toggle in the lockscreen unlike previous ROMs which had this by default. I've seen posts in the Audacity development thread (pages 409-) describing how to add the camera to the lockscreen, however I want to reverse this and re-enable a mute/sound toggle on the lockscreen. I've been into the system->settings->lockscreen but that offers no volume toggle options under apps or activities.
I'm currently working around this by using "Mute" but this seems to be an ugly fix to what seems to be a missing system option.
Does anyone have any better solution or ideas?
Thanks in advance

Well, since you can't disable access to the notification bar, you can use the toggle there.
I just looked into this myself and you're right. I did find a workaround though. If you have Tasker you can make a task that switches toggle states and then bind that task to a lockscreen slot with Task Cut (selectable on the first page).
Granted that won't update your icon, but it's something.
As mentioned above though, you can also toggle it from the power widget in the notification drawer.

Thanks for the responses. As Tasker isn't free I'll stick with the "Mute" app and add that to the lockscreen for now.
The whole point of this was so that I don't have to unlock on the way in/out of appointments etc... I can just wake the screen and swipe left to mute/unmute the phone. Granted it's not a huge amount of effort to unlock and use the power widget in the notifications screen, but it is an extra step and we're all about efficiency (or idleness!)
It just seems odd to me that this should be something that's inbuilt on the lockscreen, but I guess the developers take a different view nowadays. (It would be nice to have options for both camera and mute in the lockscreen options)
I'd like to have a go at creating an app to do this for myself.
Can anyone recommend any threads on how to start development - I'm reasonably ok with programming though I'll freely admit that java's object orientation will be a bit of a learning curve. I'm hoping that this will be a relatively simple task - All I want to do is to mute/unmute from the lockscreen without changing anything else...
I've found these bits of code to play with:
http://stackoverflow.com/a/7318028
http://stackoverflow.com/a/10921268
but where do I start in trying to create an app around this and packaging it? adb? Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm looking for an "android how to write apps" or something like that...
Thanks in advance
[edit] - found the android developers pages now and am starting "my first app" - If anyone has any hints and tips though, they'd still be appreciated. Thanks
