[Q] Problem with Flash Player 10.1 installation - Desire General

Hello,
I have installed the Froyo official rooted update from nickiberli and I have deleted a lot of APK that I don't need to make the ROM lighter. I have deleted the install_flash_player.apk and install_flash_player.odex and after three hours of configuration of my phone I realized that I can't redownload Flash Player 10.1 form the Market... I have tried to put the install_flash_player.apk in the SD Card and install with ES File Explorer but it say that it can't install the APK. Is there a way to reinstall the APK (with an ADB command?) to make FlashPlayer works correctly without reflashing the ROM with the the two APK and loosing three hours of reconfiguration?
Thanks in advance to the one that can help me

try: adb install -r APKname
otherwise you might be stuck with having to reflash.
oh, and make sure you place the apks in the tools dir

Thanks you but it didn't help, say "Installation Failed" too.
But I have put back the install_flash_player.apk and install_flash_player.odex back in system/app with the command "adb push" in Recovery Mod, restarted the phone and now everything works correctly again.

yeah you cant install an odexed .apk, you either need the deodexed version or just push it using adb like you did lol

You obviously ask a question... so please ask the question in the Q&A section, not in the dev section.

DSP Manager: how to?

In several places in the forums I see DSP manager mentioned as a way to change the sound output from the phone.
It is possible to use the .apk file or flash the .zip file to a stock firmware that is rooted (no other changes), or does it have to be applied to a custom rom?
Ta.
Here you go...
http://www.multiupload.com/7VS5O9KKQ0
Flash as you would a ROM
Hmm, I flashed it and the settings appeared, but they seem to make no difference to the sound output!
Trying via headphones? As I doubt you'd notice from the internal speaker
Other than that I can't help, have no issues personally
Yep, trying via headphones. Seems to make no difference at all. I am running a stock rooted HTC Rom.
Hi, I flashed the DSP from recovery and rebooted. Installation was successful but I can't find the app anywhere in my phone? where do I see it?

For anyone else having this problem:
I didn't find the app I installed so I searched the net for other installation files, and found this:
h ttp://androidforums.com/1446319-post107.html
after I flashed this and rebooted, I got a 'force close' notification for the app. Than I went to /system/app/DSPManager.apk and installed it.
DSP Manager now working great ^^
I did as u said but it gives me a force close and when i try to install it i cant cause its already installed, cant uninstall it either, what should i do ? BTW I'm using AuraxTSense v7.4
did you install the one in the second post as well?
I'm using AuraxTSense 7.0
Yes, first I installed that one, it didn't work, then I installed the other. Is that the problem ? I thought so... so how should I fix it ?
good question..I'm not sure.. try installing the first again
Ok I did it, it removed the app from the app list. What now ? If I try installing it from /system/app it gives an error.
I don't know.. i just rebooted my device and it gave me the force close again. so I did what I did the previous time and ran that app from the location I wrote.. worked like a charm.. again..

I installed the other zip again, gave me a force close so went to system/app and tried to install it but I can't, only have the options uninstall and launch... No idea why is it working for you and not for me...
EDIT: Ok it works now, had to remove first the odex file and install the other zip again
Update DSP Manager
You can remove the DSPManager.apk file using the terminal emulator.
NOTE: You need to have a rooted phone, Superuser & Terminal emulator.
STEPS
1. Change to root user it is granted super-user permissions.
su -2. Then change to the system app directory.
cd /system/app3. Then move the DSPManager.apk to the tmp directory.
mv DSPManager.apk /tmp4. Move the new apk file to the system app directory.
NOTE: Change to the directory where the DSPManager_1.0.apk is.
cp DSPManager_1.0.apk /system/app5. Reboot the phone.
6. Check in the apps list and the new DSP Manager should be in there.
NOTE: If it all worked you can remove the DSPManager.apk from /tmp
rm /tmp/DSPManager.apk
Attached is the version I use on my rooted HTC Desire.
In order to work, DSP Manager also needs a file called libaudioflinger.so in the /system/lib directory in addition to the apk.
The easy way to get this done is to use an update zip for DSP Manager. Get it from one of these links (all links from this page):

I don't think you can install the zip from Astro Explorer because it needs to copy files to the /system partition which is read-only when the phone is booted up. In other words, you must have a rooted phone to do this.
If you do have a rooted phone, then reboot into recovery mode and install the update.zip the usual way.
If you don't have a rooted phone, well that's a whole different story.
i , please help me.
I've installed it via recovery and I made backup with my original needly files: libaudioflinger and libaudio. Then i copied my files back (deleted new files and moved old files) . I restarted my phone and it didn't boot. Just show me the White window (T-mobile)... Can i repair my phone by myself? Please help me and sorry for my english.

I'm sorry I don't really understand the problem. Normally, installing the update.zip should be all that you need to do. I don't understand why you copied the old files back and were those two files the only files that you backed up?

[Q] placing app in system/app does not install app

Hi.
I have some apps i want to install.
I have uninstalled the weather app along with the weatherSyncProvider and WeatherProvider.
So all the posts say "copy to system/app, clear dalvik-cahce, and reboot" to install a system app.
But thats not working. So after rebooting, i went into Root Explorer and installed the Weather app. It installed successfully.
On the other hand, the WeatherSyncProvider and WeatherProvider app didnt install giving the "Application not installed" message.
I tried using adb to install it, and it gave me an error (forgot what the error said exactly) but it gave the meaning that the error was got to do with the sharedID
which is com.htc.uid.rosie. I've tired way too much, but cant get it to install.
Do i have to change anything in the AndroidManifest.xml file?
---- OH and same thing happens to HtcMusic.apk, but this gives the DEXOPT error, and the .apk had no .dex file but has a .odex file and im running a stock 2.3.3 rooted odex ROM
Root is not enough to make persistant changes to the system directory, you need S-OFF.
Oh and you should use a deodexed ROM, it will save you the hassle of deleting the odex files.
yea, i have radio and eng s-off.
i've been to many posts, read MANY solutions, but none work.
I like the odex ROMs, mostly because its more stock'ish' and i like the challenge! , but as you can see i've hit a little bump with the error that adb is giving me (DEXOPT and SHARED ID).
And if you could please...
When i get an app that is DEXed, will using the 'dexopt-wrapper' command always work to make a .odex file? -- because i used it with the sense 3.0 lockscreen and it worked but with
com.htc.framework.jar (in /system/framework/)
it didnt. -- it wouldnt even load the bootanimation, just hanged on the HTC splash screen.
Could you tell me the importance of the com.htc.framework.jar file?
Sorry if its too much questions! ... any help would be greatly appreciated!
A similar issue happened to me just a few days back. While trying to apply a Rosie patch, i just used Root Explorer to copy the new apk to /data/app_s, but for some reason that did not work.
So i then tried pushing the apk via adb, and it worked. I'm not really sure what difference this makes, but it seemed to work for me.
So maybe you could give this a try. Instead of copy-pasting, try to do a push.
i've tried both ... still not working

[Help Required] will not boot

Hey guys,
I have done something stupid.
The phone.
GSM Galaxy Nexus - Android 4.0.2 (ICL53F)
Rooted. otherwise stock.
Current status - will not boot android. Will load fastboot/recovery
I was trying to change the bootanimation.
Could not do it with adb push.
So i tried by copying the .zip file to the phone.
Opened up file File expert (unsure how many use this) clicked on "internal Memory" and tried to mount for read/write.
Copied bootanimation.zip from sd card to /system/media would not paste.
Tried again. Did not paste but it did delete the stock bootanimation.zip file.
Unsure what i clicked but when i tried to open /system/media it try to "execute" it, stated that it could not find a program to do so.
Closed program.
Phone started to come up with differnt apps stating that they have stopped working.
turned off phone, reboot.
Will not load boot animation, just loads to recovery!
I think I will have to flash the stock rom to solve this.
Any help would be great.

If this was my phone I'd find a nice rom, stock or not, and install it. I'd follow the dev's installation instructions to a "T".
You could also go this way: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399210
Good luck.

[Q] Problem with superuser/superSU/rooting

This being my first post a HI EVERYBODY is in order.
On with the show.
So, I managed to unlock my bootloader via htcdev website, i slapped on the cwm recovery and managed to put a custom rom on my cell.
The rom in question is the jellyking, works fine, everything is great.
PROBLEM:
although ive tried several cm10 roms i liked jellyking the most but on all of them i had troubles getting root.
what happens is that i download es file manager, set it to give me root and mount system as RW, popup says that the preinstalled (with rom) superuser app granted those rights and that everything should be superb, but I couldnt copy files from my sd to lets say /system/media (wanted to change my bootanim) it says file copy failed, only once i did manage to copy a file but i dont know how.
The question:
when i put a custom rom, do i need to reapply the famous root.zip or maybe install busybox as my first app or maybe flash over the existing superuser app the superSU app which seems to update the root binaries sucessfully.
BOTTOM LINE:
What is the exact (if any) procedure that I need to follow to get perm root access (copy rights) to my own phone, each and every reboot.
Thanks in advance for all Your insights,
Humbly,

[Q] KF2: Unable to boot into CM10 - Any help appreciated

Hi Guys,
Firstly, thanks so much for the info on this community. I've followed loads of the threads and almost all of what I need to know is here.
I have a KF2 @ v10.3.1. I've rooted it and applied the 2nd bootloader using a homemade lead (thanks to the thread on that!). I started in Windows but switched to Kubuntu after getting driver issues etc.. To compound the problem, the KF2 is blocked by Amazon, which didn't help as I couldn't load apps whist it was stock. (It's not stolen or otherwise illegally obtained. Amazon sent it in error, and despite me contacting them to ask how to return it, they've never replied)
Anyhow, After following THIS thread, which appeared to go OK, after rebooting I'm unable to boot into Recovery. The blue screen just stays there. I can still boot normally, but I would like to load CM10 which is loaded as per the thread, along with gapps, both in zip format. I have read many threads about being stuck on the blue screen, but these are always locked and need to be restored, but I have no problem booting normally and the KF2 is not locked. I've searched this site and googled plenty.
I don't expect an exact answer, but if someone could just point me at what to look at, I'm sure I can find the rest of the info I need on here. :good:
Oh, also. Another quick question. I see that the CM10 images are constantly being updated, if (when I get mine working) I want to use one of these, is it simply a case of copying the zip file over? Or is there more to do than that.
Many thanks in advance.
You can boot normally? Into stock, I assume.
Run the apk tool from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2106463
Should get you fixed right up
The zip file will have to be flashed from recovery. So, its a matter of copying the zip file (and gapps) over. Boot into recovery. Wipe data, cache, dalvik and system. Then flash rom first, the gapps.
Also, be VERY CAREFUL and make sure you have a GOOD DOWNLOAD by checking the md5 on the file. If you wipe the system (which deletes the stack file) you will not be able to boot into recovery or anything.
I still recommend that you purchase a fastboot cable.
Edit: also, when booting into recovery you might have to hit the power button a couple of times.

Cheers mindmajick. I've tried to do this but still having a few problems.
If I use the wired version, the runme.bat does not have permissions to the data/app folder. I can't seem to run it in Kubuntu as it says I can't run a binary file if I make it executable, but says I don't have permission if I remove execute. (I'm looking into this - but I'm not very good with Linux, so lots of Googling!!...lol....) Also I see that there are some issues with this version with the wireless version being favored. Unfortunately as I'm unable to log onto my Amazon account, I can't use this method.
I will continue to try, I'm almost there now, thanks for you help so far.

I'm unable to use the cordless version com.powerpoint45.FMKilo-2.apk due to the fact that as the KF2 is blocked by Amazon, I'm unable to log in and download or install .apk files.

Hopefully that makes a little more sense. Cheers
Yes. Download the fmkilo apk from his thread, (use the browser if you have to) then once downloaded pull down the notification bar and tap on the apk link. Also, make sure that the option to install from unknown sources is set in the settings before doing the download
You could alternatively push the file via adb to the system Directory.
Is USB debugging enabled? Are you rooted?

Yup, that did it. I had overlooked the fact that I was still able to use the browser on the KF2 and didn't really know you could install .apk's using that method anyway. So now I have carried on and installed Jellybean 4.2.2 on there and it works a treat.
Thank you ever so much Mindmajick for taking an interest in my problem, I really do appreciate yours and the rest of the developers time on here. :good:

Not a problem: Thanks
I think this is a method of pushing the flash and image files to the tablet and then installing using ADB by the way it is described.
I think I have that method copied down some place else.
I have never used this method but, sounds like it would work.
I also presume you need root to do the install via ADB.
