Anybody know where I can get an apk of the stock froyo car home? This Sprint or HTC one that replaced it has no button for music and is thus useless to me

I have attached it for you....
That being said, to extract any application you may want from the stock ROM all you have to do is download any ROM, stock or not. Open the zip file and go to the folder: 'system > app' Then you'll see all the apk's for the ROM. In this case the apk you were looking for was: "HtcCarPanel.apk"
I have the pre release 2.2 update installed, is the car panel supposed to have a music button? I've never seen a music button on any of the car panels, I would like to have this as well.
thanks a lot for the help though i guess i wasnt clear about what i was looking for. the htc car panel is the one that doesnt have a music button. i just extracted the apk i need from the cyanogen google apps .zip using the method you described so i should be good to go.

I don't like the default music player on the SGS for only one reason.
There is no skip, previous function when it is on the headset.
For this reason, I installed the default music player from the nexus one/stock android.
I did all this without needing to root(waiting for stable nandroid 'coz my ROM is not listed anywhere on samsung firmwares.)
The original SGS Music player is still installed.
The headset works perfectly with this now(Double click now goes to the next song)!!!!!
The only issue is that now when I press the headset button, the default Music Player starts playing as well(even if I force kill the service from the running services).
It's like I'm toggling from one music player to the other.
Any soln.?
If I root the device what apk do I have to delete?
::::UPDATE::::
I did a nandroid recovery(if any Indian SGS needs a nandroid backup of DDJF3 if you have to send the device for repairs just ask me)
I have removed the MusicPlayer.apk as well as the MusicPlayer.odex from system/app
and installed the default music player from nexus one.
Everything works fine.
FLAC still works and phone works normally as if nothing ever happened.
I am unable to upload attachments here or link attachments to my site.
If I could, I would upload the Nexus one music player and the SGS MusicPlayer.apk and the MusicPlayer.odex
My bluetooth headset has previous/next funtionality working fine...
I'm sorry I forgot to mention that I'm using the pre included Samsung wired headset.
thats my problem with the default player too
although i love the sound of the default player, and the eq, custom eq and the auto eq settings are the best ive seen in any player
also the 5.1 srs made my triplefi10 even better than before
i mailed samsung and the acknowledged the suggestion
one thing i noticed too, the underlying service on the default player is named coreplayer
i dont know of any android port of the coreplayer from winmo, but the winmo coreplayer is one of the best players around
Solved!!! Check out the first post
I have the same problem as you, can you share me the music player from the nexus one? My email is [email protected]. Thx.
Could you please share with us how did you do this (got the nexus one app, installed it)? I know these questions might be silly ones I am new to Android (switched from iPhone a week ago) and am really missing the skip functionality.
Would like to try out the N1 music player...please?
To get the app google droid-life.com nexus one music app (I cannot post links) Second link should take you to the website with the app and instructions how to install it.
I can confirm it works as described above
Dont post your email id's here.
Got to www. google. com /ncr
Type "nexus one music player for milestone"
Scrooll down and click on "AndroidHD - News: Milestone Android 2.1 - Nexus one style (UPDATED)"
Scroll down and click on "5. music app 2.1"
Download it.
Now keep it aside.
Next root your device like here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728754
Next using root explorer or a terminal(command prompt on pc), perform the folln. steps
Navigate to system/app/
MOVE MusicPlayer.odex and MusicPlayer.apk to your sdcard under a folder named backup.
Next plug in the usb cable on your pc to your phone.
Pull down the notification tray and select mount drive.
Copy the Nexus one apk to your sdcard.
Pull down the notification bar again and turn off the drive.
Using myfiles open the root of your sdcard and install the apk by just clicking and installing it.
Did not understand?
PM me.
where I find the music player of nexus one? can you post here? please
edit: thanks I resolved
great! thanks so much!
now my mw600 works very well with the Nexus One MusicPlayer!
hmm, any idea whether this fix will work on other earphones such as the sennheiser ie8 that does'nt come with external hardware buttons like the default headset? meaning we double click the vol + or vol - hard buttons on the SGS itself to skip/rewind tracks... thanks....

NO. The volume up/down will only work to change volume.
You will have to either build yourself something that does that or find an app that does that.

Buddy i am from india. Can you give me the link for DDJF3. Have you tried reinstalling DDJF3 and check if it works?
Because on other forum many people have reported that this nandroid DDJF3 ROM doesnt recover the "Cell Radio" (Baseband)version of the phone. So Samsung guys can still know that you have flashed a different ROM.
But in your case you will be fine becoz you have not flashed any other beta ROM.
I've done a lot of experiments with my device and have always reverted to ddjf3 using the nandroid that I had initially made. My phone, pda, csc all stay the same, I.e . Ddjf3.
The nandroid is on my website. I'll give u a link in the evening.
I don't have the ddjf3 rom. Just the nandroid backup without root.
Sorry I can't help you there. I was doing some reading and http://androidforums.com/all-things...eband-backed-up-spr-cwmr-nand.html#post671189
Your baseband is not backed up.
You will not get your baseband back to ddjf3 unless you flash your device.
*Stupid n00b mistake by me*

I've done the music headset without buttons thinggy
Use the Music apk from here and the apk i am providing here.
Its not perfect but i'm working on it.
I need some help from some android programmers with receiving button clicks when the screen is off.
I do not fully understand services and broadcast receivers as yet.
How do i intercept button clicks when the screen is off?
Code examples or a tutorial will be of great help.
If any android programming guru can help me i'd appreciate it very much.
Froyo... This is driving me seriously crazy. I've been searching for answers for days, really I've been clicking the search button, no BS.
1. No speech input on keyboard
2. No wifi tether (that i can get to work(without spending $30/m))
3. Pandora sound quality sucks. I tried to pull the build.prop file to edit it, had no luck, it said it was pulled but couldn't find it.
Three deal breakers for me, backed up to 2.1. Any resolve on these issues? Flash was cool, but for me the LED for camcorder was the best feature, if I could just get that on 2.1 I'd be happy. I wanna run 2.2 but not without those three features. Anyone? Please? I'll give you props...
Which ROM are you using? I have the Rooted Froyo 3.26.651.6 version, and:
1. The stock keyboard does have the mic input.
2. Using netarchy's kernel 3.7.6c I have working WiFi tether. The only downside of the kernel, is the camera app SAYS it is only 3mp, but I confirmed through Photoshop that the pics are 8mp (pics show as 2448x3264 pixels)
3. I don't use Pandora, so I can't help here.....
I tried .3 odexed, .3 deodexed, and the official rooted, all had same issues, and no speech input on keyboard (it was replaced with a button to switch languages)
my speech button was on the left i'm typing this now by speaking ...

Ooo...cool. That needs to be in that ABD commands post...and I'll probably just forget where this post is in next two days...
Thanx for all the tips, running 2.2 now and stickin with it. Flashed official .6 deodex rom, with above kernel, edited the build.prop file so pandora sounds great now, everything but my camera is working. It will freeze up sometimes, and the flash on camcorder works when it feels like it. hmm... more searching
PROPS!!
Is it possible to download this? I had it on one of the original leaked Froyo ROM's it was a nicely rendered black Maglite fullscreen and you could press the onscreen button to set three levels of LED brightness from the flash.
The ones on the market are rubbish.
The only other thing I could do is reflash the old ROM, save the app and try flashing my current ROM back?
Try searching the market for N1 Torch!!
yes a great app if it is a app?
i have it on my rooted froyo rom but it doesn't show in my apps list! ?
Don't need to reflash.
Open the zip for the rom on your PC and find the apk you need.

Did you find this - would like it for my NS.
Rich
i think you mean this
http://www.mediafire.com/?9oxo632bbjrh2xc
but i think it only works on SENSE
i can open the app but the flashlight dont work
You can search the market for Mag Flashlight, it's pretty similar to the stock Flashlight and works with non-sense roms.
your right
its similar to the stock
thanx
I have been running Uncommon Sense 1.1 for quite a while on my Incredible, and my absolute favorite aspect is the center Rose button being linked to a modified version of App Folders instead of the normal app drawer. Folder organization is pretty important for me due to a large quantity of apps.
Anyhow, I am now finding myself interested in changing ROMs (I used to test drive multiple ROMs a week, it's weird staying tied down). The problem is, I want the folder organization I've gotten used to mapped to Rosie.
The question is, how can I modify a ROM to achieve this? I have never modified a ROM before, and this sounds like a tough one to start with. My first inclination is to simply take the Rosie.apk from Uncommon Sense and plop it into a different ROM. But given than App Folders was modified in Uncommon Sense, would this work? And how would I do it? Or would I have better luck remapping Rosie to add the unmodified App Folders?

This question belongs in Q&A not development.
That being said, start here:

Even though it is an EVO page, the theory still applies.
or this:

These are both easy to find utilizing the search function. Hope this helps.

MynWArm is a great ROM.. I prefer stock, I deodexed the most up to date Nov. OTA update completely rooted and busyboxed and deodexed. Which means you can run the stock ROM and add Modifications that you enjoyed such as the rosie modification. in mynswarm rom he has an app called rosie settings which you can choose the left and right buttons makes it sooo easy. lemme hook u up wit some links. I am uploading these things for you so I hope you use it.
step one, make sure your rooted S-OFF
download this stock ROM I deodexed, it's completely stock doesnt have any name or anything like that.
here is the ROM http://androidforums.com/incredible...dexed-added-root-nov-update-any-interest.html
or direct download link - http://www.multiupload.com/2KS0OS60DR
then you need to Flash this file from recovery once the ROM is up and running.
I'm uploading just for you so, I hope you use this.
flash from recovery, http://www.multiupload.com/5FLXLMGJHO
this will take a good ten minutes so boot, so don't panic and pull the battery it'll work.
once you have this flashed and phone is on and running you'll see something famililar to myns warm, rosie wise, you wont be able to use any of the buttons except the middle for all apps, this is were you take this .apk -
this part is really important download this .apk
http://www.multiupload.com/W4IX7D2423
and install your favorite way, I used astro to do it. but once this is instaleld open the app and you can change the left and right buttons to whatever..
all credit goes to the creators or mynwarm I just prefer to do the themeing myself, this is just an amazing mod that lets you change the rosie shortcuts in an easy to use app.
Awesome, man. That will probably do pretty much everything I need. Or probably pretty damn close to it. I'll try it out tonight and let you know how it goes.

Anybody get Google Car Dock working with Virtuous Unity ?
When I insert my phone in the dock this stupid HTC Navigation automatically launches asking me to buy. I've installed com.google.android.carhome-1.apk as well as carpanel.apk but, alas, no joy.
On the stock ROM, I installed the same apk and when inserting the phone into the car dock the first time was asked what app I wanted to use and "Car Home" was listed. I can't find the stupid HTC Navigation anywhere to remove it or at least clear the defaults.
Even if I can't get Google Car Dock working, how in Gods name can I get this plague, that is HTC Navigation, off my phone? I tried freezing, moving, deleting, uninstalling any and everything from /data/app and /system/app that closely resembled the HTC Navigation. Yet, when I insert my phone into the car dock, low and behold, up pops HTC Navigation asking me to buy maps. This thing is like herpes -it just doesn't go away. Whats even more odd -when I hit the Car Home icon (the google one with a little "g") the HTC Navigation launches!! I'm losing my marbles over here!!
Thanks in advance.
Thanks

haha hey man, glad you got root goin, I will take a look at those files to see if I can find what you need to delete. The reason the stock .apks do not work is because those for 2.1 and Virtuous is a 3.0 rom. so you need 3.0 .apks.. try out this rom here its based off the stock rom with sense 3.0 goodies, might help you out. it's a great rom and will only get better.

Thanks (again) Bro! I managed to sort myself out. After backing up Virtuous with clockwork, I installed CM7, then used TiBackup on Car Home.
Once I restored Virtuous, I restored Car Home with Ti Backup and it works like a charm. I also found I could get HTC Navigation to stop opening by checking the little box in Settings > Dock > "Automatically Start Navigation" (DUH!!).
All is right with the world now, except Car Home doesn't launch automagically when I put my phone in the dock but I can most certainly live with that.
Cheers!
EDIT: I will give that ROM you suggested a try. Thanks!
