Short and sweet question:
Is it normal to only have access to Verizon's 1G network when using the force roaming feature, and not 3G?

Better question: Does Sprint and Verizon's roaming deal allow for 3G roaming? Don't remember off the top of my head, but I'm fairly sure it doesn't.

As far as I know, the agreement between Sprint and Verizon is for voice only. Some people claim to have been roaming with data on Verizon towers but I have yet to see proof of that...

I get data over the 1g connection, but it is ~ 20 kb :¤(
If roaming didn't include data, why would Sprint put a 200Mb limit on data roaming?

Im not a cellular network engineer but I have some experience with corporate wireless networks. We are in the midst of the holiday season and people are crowding around shopping areas, buying their first 4g device, and Verizon is still building out their LTE network. I wonder if towers are load balancing users based on increased density.
Increased 4g subscribers
A still growing network
Maybe Verizon is getting to a point where they need to play catch up.
Today I was in a shopping area where I'd normally get -75 db on LTE. I got -102. I drove across town where there were far fewer people and got -74db. I had no problem maintaining this signal strength inside our local Kroger.
Let me know your thoughts and remember its not fair to compare a CDMA signal strength to LTE signal strength. They are different broadcasts and frequencies. Since (as I believe to be true) LTE can hold more clients per tower Verizon may not have LTE on every tower in LTE coverage areas just yet. We are still in the deployment.
maybe it was -76 but you get the point.

This is in Sugar Land, TX. Looks like it does work!! Haven't done a speed test, since my phone is on a prepaid plan on 2G speeds Might be able to find someone with an unlimited plan and try to run one later!
Just wanted to share that there is finally some proof that it will work on T-Mo LTE
------Edit------
Clarification: I'm using a US Version AT&T Lumia 900 that was unlocked by an AT&T supplied code.
Not too impressive, faster than HSPA+ here. But it did just come on lol.
Did you change any setings or just insert the sim card ?

Changed my APN from epc.tmobile.com to fast.t-mobile.com, that's all. You think there was more I should have done?

no I was just curious
I also would like to say that I was so surprised when I saw LTE on my phone. Right now I'm in Baltimore and I just unlocked my L900. First I saw no bars on my phones, so I was a little scared. But after a couple of seconds I saw 4G (what was surprising enough), and then LTE. I couldn't believe. I used to have L810 in TMobile, but this was so surprising.
if S5 has it when you guys think they will roll out VolTE Update for note4? i think it should be out of the box, but it's not.

Yeah, unfortunately there is date for VoLTE for the Note. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

Verizon Volte
I think its going to be more in the 3 to 6 month range. VZW is having to many issues with the Volte service at this time. To many dropped calls when the call originates in an LTE market & then goes to a 3G or 1XRTT area. That's why the initial rollout only included a select number of devices, the call centers would be flooded with support calls. Now they are partnering with AT&T in 2015 ( is hell freezing over ) to make Volte work. Which is the way cellular service should be in this country to give the consumer the best possible experience. The big 4 have just never historically played well together but really good to see going forward. Anyway this is going to be a very slow process!!
Can anyone help with this? I notice this happens in certain areas of my home and it's happening on 2 att note 4s. Any help is appreciated!! Thank you

If you mean what I'm showing in my picture, then don't worry. Your data isn't being used along with your WiFi and this is a known phenomenon (I mean, it's obviously happening to me too). No one has really been able to figure out exactly why it happens (to my knowledge).

I get it, too. Happens a couple times a week around the same time in the evenings. Doesn't seem to affect my data usage.
The AT&T visual voice mail app does this when you use it. It seems to always get its data from the cell network even when wifi is available. It's possible that other AT&T apps do likewise.

This isn't the cause because I've had Visual Voicemail disabled since updating to 5.1.1.
