Themeing Sense Froyo (2.2) Official - Help Needed - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey dudes...I have a couple of questions about issues I have run into when trying to theme the deodexed official version of Sense 2.2 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=740667). Issues are mentioned below:
#1. Where is the lockscreen located in Sense 2.2? It used to be HTCLockscreen.apk but that is no longer where it is located.
#2. When trying to theme the pull-down tray and make it transparent, it doesn't work and becomes a black box (difficult to explain). If someone could post a patch of fix for this that'd be phenomenal. I believe Nexus users faced the same issue with the pull-down tray when they first received Froyo and were themeing it - there should be a patch somewhere on the forums to fix it, but I'm not sure where it is at the moment.
If any of you know the answer or solution to either of these issues, then please let me know. Also, you guys can use this thread to discuss any issues you all are having with themeing the new official Sense 2.2. It would be good if we could all come together to solve some of the issues that we will face when themeing 2.2. Thanks!

Question#1 - The Lock Screen files are located in \system\framework\com.htc.resources.apk\res\drawable-hdpi\ (Same as 2.1)
Their are 3 files - 1. lockscreen_arc 2. lockscreen_arcglass_bottom 3. lockscreen_arcglass_top.9
Question#2 - Can't help you their lol. .

I have attached some files for you to help mod your lock screen. Credit to Konikub for creating them.
They are located in com.htc.resources.apk as michd43 said in the \system\framework\com.htc.resources.apk\res\drawab le-hdpi\ folder.
You can use these PNGs to replace the ones in your com.htc.resources.apk, you can replace the files with WinRAR quite easily as it can read apks.

[Theme] Trial by Fire -Stericson's Final theme....[Updated] 01/11/2009

Before getting started I need to thank some people who have hlped me with this project or offered help to me. These people can be seen as contributors to this project, and I am grateful for their help.

Necromancer
Major thanks to Manup465 as he provided the status bar, the bottom notification bar, and the app bar used in one of the backgrounds. Thanks alot for your help Manup465!
Major thanks to Necromancer as he came up with the idea of replacing the fonts on the phone, between the two of use we were able to do it! Thanks alot man!
Also, before we get started, you will need root, and Jesusfreke's Mod rc30 installed(1.3), Mod ADP1(Actually, I would think that this would work on the default ADP), or Mod RC8(1.3) MAKE SURE IT'S V1.3!!!.
THIS COULD BRICK YOUR PHONE!
While I highly doubt it will, it still could!
If you are going to do this, I very highly URGE you to install the G1 engineering bootloader. With this installed, if something does go wrong, your phone is salvageable!
JesusFreke's Mod RC30 update V1.3: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=466174
G1 Engineering bootloader: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=455860
With all that said an done I can get rid of that bold font.
This is a very simple process thanks to Jesusfreke helping me understand how to make an update.zip file which will work with his mod rc30 update.
Simply download the file, place it on your sdcard, boot your phone into the recovery mode(power+home), and hit alt+S.
Once it says its done, reboot the phone and enjoy!
Let me know if you run into any problems at all!
Let me know what you want to see in the next release, be reasonable I'm not a master image maker, and android does some strange things to some images.
Let me know if something seems out of place, or wrong.
I will try to resolve all issues as quick as I can.
Take a look at the pictures!
This theme comes with both the standard wallpaper shown and the wallpaper with the app bar provided by Manup465. These wallpapers are in the wallpaper gallery.

Besides the obvious visual differences, what else has changed or been modified/fixed/etc? I think i like your other theme better, and if there is little or nothing changed behind the scenes i think ill stick with it. Great work though guys, another original looking theme!
Awesome theme!!!!
Ouch...hope im not hit with that. But at least you can now update to JF's RC 30v1.3, and try again
momentary, message me on gtalk...I want you to try something
[email protected]
Pablizzo, I made some corrections added some fixes changed the magnifying icons and the look thats about it. It does contain bug fixes though....
same ol same
hey stericson its the same ordeal this theme is soooo sick man and i cant even flash it
success
hey i flashed the rc30 1.3 and then your theme and it worked yes! great theme
For anyone having ANY issues flashing the phone (or if you freeze up).
Take the card out and use an adaptor (or at least this is how I did it) to install JF's new 1.3 version for the phone...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=466174
Once you do that, just reboot and then install the theme as shown above. Just did it and it looks AWESOME
Anyones device who froze at the g1 screen I believe the problem was that you run out of space on the device, causing some programs from getting flashed over, which would cause your phone not to boot. Installing JF's rc30 V1.3 fixes this by drastically increasing /systems free space.

Amen! With this and JF's update, I feel like I just got a new phone! The thought put into detail is amazing!
thanks for the new theme! working great so far. loving the new icons 8)
Stericson you did it again!! the main system icons are changed and i love them! your theme keeps getting better and better
for those who are missing Browser from the previous theme:
I installed JF's 1.3 then Stericson's new theme and the browser came back. I dont know if its the new theme or the order of installation.
NOTE:
For anyone getting "stuck" at the Android screen, you need the NON-ADP1 version of JF1.3. This is written for that version and NOT for the developer version.
Got stuck in a loop and didn't realize why until I did a little hunting.
Did I mention I ****LOVE**** this theme????
Ok this may be a dumb question but i have everything installed on my g1 you say is needed. One question though, i have never put a theme on g1 yet, do i need to have a previous theme installed for new one to work or can i just put this on right now?
Should work without wiping...has for everyone else. If it doesnt, just do a wipe manually.
BTW, A version of my theme for ADP1 has been released
Just installed this on my g1 after recently downgrading to rc29 then installing modded tc8 then installed jf 1.3 adp1. This theme went on no probs and didnt even have to wipe!!.
Nice work
browser icon
Is there a way to install theme and push the auto rotate browser and keep the new theme icon?
On v1.3 it wont i have tried it with the auto rotate browser i made edit to for my theme and nothing.
@Stericson
Do you know if the pics bug is the build or the themes problem? I am having this problem when you scroll the pics it goes down a little bit then resets,it does it all the time an I think its the theme that frame around the pics but where is that part in framework-res?
Oh an i think said this before this theme is HOT!!!!!
So maybe Stericson can help me. Everytime I load a new theme, and I have Koush's Auto-rotate browser set up, I lost my browser function. I can push the browser back, but then the browser icon returns to the stock icon (which sucks if you're using manup's blue theme) Anyone else having this problem?
manup's blue theme is the only one that has survived since manup has taken the auto rotate browser and applied the icon change. you can download the file here ://www.mediafire.com/?0wtm3mlntzj (file is on post #66 from blue theme thread)
change it the name to browser.apk and place on sd card and follow the steps to push it thru.
I have not found the flame theme browser icon update yet, so for now I am sticking to the blue theme until someone comes up with it unless I learn how to do it myself.

Themes/Morphs for AOSP 2.2 OTA Froyo

I've been trying to install Morphs or a blackbar for the new (rooted) OTA Update. I'm using the ROM that was (claimed to be in the thread) deodexed (look here: h t t p://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=811620). I've either had boot loops or blank screens after boot. Have you guys managed to get any morphs to work? I'm just looking for a smooth black statusbar.
I'm guessing (since you didn't post a link to the theme) that it flashes services.jar in /system/framework, if you remove that and edit the xml accordingly it will work, but the time will remain black. You'll need to manually edit your services.jar to fix that.
I tried flashing themes that were CM6 compatible (Simplicity), and just the browser and the framework_res.apk. I haven't tried any others.
And those bootlooped? It's probably a much better idea to get support in the release threads for those themes.
Good idea. Thanks!
i just downloaded that build you posted a link too and it is still odex'd unless you deodexed it yourself or something
bump!
Sorry to bump this, but I'm also looking for a themed version of the 2.2.1 OTA rom, but in particular i want the black bar with white letters, such as the Community Hero Mix has. Is there something like this? Aside from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=848791, because I prefer the green on black and a simple OTA rom

[Q] Flashables?

first, i apologize if this is in a few threads all over these forums. ive tried reading through most but they are cluttered and outdated.
i have been looking for a few theme/mods in flashable form to use on a rooted stock/RUU rom.
i have been messing around with other roms trying to edit my own but it's becoming a very large hassle without a proper desktop and internet connection.
anyways, if anyone could point me to a thread with a working flash or tutorial for:
white taskbar (possibly similar to mikfroyo's theme)
battery icon with % (not metamorph files)
again, sorry if this information is in an obvious place, i cant seem to find it. thanks.

the battery icon one you can find in my sig, the links is for stock de-odexed ROMs though. If you have another ROM look at the OP for different versions of it
thanks so much!
Actually this one may work better for you, the other one was for an older version and is glitchy so I added the battery icons to the new framework.
Stock 3.30.651.2 Battery % Icons
Note: Be sure to wipe cache & dalvik before rebooting.
the 2nd file worked perfectly, thanks.
if anyone has a tutorial or flashable white task bar mod please inform me. thanks again.
hey shutuproman dude. you need a de-odexed rom to theme. this means .odex files that hold stuff for each .apk won't contradict the apk, causing massive force floses, and reboot. find a de-odexed rom, and you can flash whatever the hell you wnat.

You may be able to get away with it if you delete the .odex file, I've never tried it though. If it works it could easily be added to the updates script so it is done automatically.

[REQUEST] Help with APK testing from someone on a 4.2.x ROM, please :)

Good day all,
I've got a little thread going with some themed versions of the new 4.2 DeskClock app, and I am looking for anyone who is currently on any 4.2.x ROM who can help me with some testing. I am still on 4.1.2 as I can't take the plunge myself quite yet, so I am not able to do this myself yet.
I am looking to confirm that the theming I have done to the DeskClock APK's doesn't cause any issues with the function of the app. The AOSP version of the APK has some issues when running on 4.1.2, but I am assuming they are not present on 4.2 since I haven't seen anyone complaining about it. I also want to confirm that the flashable ZIP file I made is 4.2-compatible.
The ZIP file here (View attachment 1523414) contains a semi-transparent white version of the 4.2 DeskClock. You are welcome to inspect the contents as well as the updater-script to confirm this. Nothing nefarious. I ask that you try flashing it and help me answer 3 questions:
1) Did the flashable ZIP work? You can confirm by installing the analog clock widget and seeing if it is now semi-transparent (or a fainter white depending on your wallpaper). I can make a ZIP to get you back to stock after that, or if there is a style in the OP you like, and I will make a flashable ZIP for you.
View attachment 1534986
2) Does the new digital clock widget work on 4.2? When I try it on 4.1.2, I get the display error in the screenshot below, even the stock unthemed version. Sadface.
View attachment 1522550
3) Does everything still work? Alarms? Timers? Widgets? No weird FC's when exiting the app while a timer is running?
If anyone is willing to help me with any or all of the things above, it would be greatly appreciated!! You can post here or in the thread over in the Themes & Apps sub-forum, I'll be checking both places
weekend BUMP! any help is appreciated!

[How-to] Change background of smart cover window of Find7a; flashable zip included

DISCLAIMER
Flash at your own risk.
INTRODUCTION
Hello everyone, This is my first time posting my own thread, I've been lurking around these forums since the release of Galaxy Note 1 (N7000) ,my first android phone. I've learnt to flash custom roms, root devices, etcetera. This is my first time I've extracted and repacked an apk file.
Anyways, I've learnt how to change the background wallpaper of the Smart Cover app whilst the cover is on the phone. I've used this site as my source; http://www.oppoforums.com/threads/m...-sfondo-per-le-custodie-easy-cover-etc.17149/
Credits goes to the author for the original apk and zip files. I am no app developer neither am I proficient in creating custom scripts or apk files. I just repacked the apk and zip files and replaced the jpg files located here:
\system\app\OppoLeather\res\drawable-hdpi\window_bg.jpg
\system\app\OppoLeather\res\drawable-xxhdpi\window_bg.jpg
The first 3 flashable files were created by the aforementioned author from the linked forum.
INSTRUCTIONS
I flashed this using the custom ROM, Kulay OS v1.1 on my Find 7a X9006, on CWM Philz Touch Recovery 6.42.2.
I believe you will not face any problem using the stock ROM on any Custom Recovery.
First download the attached 7zip file, then extract
Choose your preferred flashable zip based on the attached screenshots in this thread
Copy it in the internal/External SD card of your phone
Reboot into recovery
Perform a wipe cache and Dalvik-cache (you will not lose your settings and apps installed)
Select the zip file you downloaded earlier and flash
Reboot the phone

Hi leihuwan,
Thanks for the fine work. Working fine on my 9076, but it doesn't wake the screen when i open the smart cover. I have to double tap to wake it. Although not a big problem, would be nice to see a fix for it.
Once again thank you.
P.S tried four of your mods and the problem persists on all of them.
Hey,
I love this, thanks a lot! I always use BG 01, it's perfect.
However, it does not wake the device anymore if you use the new ColorOS 2.0.0i
Will you fix this? I'd love to continue using it, but if it prevents the device from waking up I can't
Thanks for this !
Each one of them, so much nicer than the stock one...
Great job.

What version of ColorOS are you using? Have you tried setting screen lock to None at Settings > Safety & Privacy > Screen Lock?

I am terribly sorry. Truthfully I am not a programmer and my knowledge in coding and packaging APK files is very limited. I only translated the instructions I've discovered at oppoforums seen at the link at OP. Maybe they changed something in the apk of the official ColorOS 2.0 release. If someone more knowledgeable than me is present, feel free to chime in.

Alright, thanks.
I read what you did and fixed the problem myself since it's pretty easy.
I took the original OppoLeather.apk of ColorOS 2.0.0i and modified the background of it and put it in your .zip
This works without problems for me and the device now wakes up properly. Yes, they did some changes to it in 2.0.0i.
If anyone else wants it, in the attachment is a working flashable .zip for ColorOS 2.0.0i with Background picture 1 of the original post.
please help...

Before that ,the screen went on even with a little opening of the cover .
Now,I decide when the screen goes on...

Find the oppoleather.apk (it's somewhere in the /root partition of the phone)
copy it to your computer
rename it from .apk to .zip
you can now open it with any zip browser.
Replace the window_bg.jpg in /res/drawable-hdpi and /res/xxhdpi with a picture of your choice.
Make sure your picture is also a .jpg, has the exactly same name and resolution.
After you replaced the pictures in the .zip you can close your file browser and rename the file into .apk
Your apk is now modified.
To flash it:
Download any of the flashable .zip's the creator of this thread put up.
when you have a flashable .zip open it.
In there will be the OppoLeather.apk and some other files. Replace the OppoLeather.apk with your modified .apk.
Make sure your apk has the exact same name as the one you're replacing it with.
After replacing you can close your file browser and copy the modified flashable .zip on your phone.
Now you only have to flash it (see instructions in first post).
Hi! I know this is an old thread, but I have a question concerning this little mod. I recently got the N3 and since the cover had a square window, the default easy cover window of the OPPO N3 is a circle.
So, I decided to flash one of the modified packages provided by the op and they work great. However, there is a slight misalignment - unsurprisingly - due to the resolution and size differences between the 7/7a and the N3. What I would like to know, is whether it is possible to to decompile and modify the apk, in order to place the small window screen a bit higher. I have decompiled the apk myself, but I haven't yet figured which string to modify.
A small help would be greatly appreciated!!!

You can do it manually with a root enable file browser.
Find the OppoLeather.apk in /system/app/Oppoleather, copy it into your phone storage then transfer it to your computer, open the apk with 7-Zip, navigate to find window_bg_circle (.png or jpg), extract it, modify the picture while keeping its dimensions, put it back into the apk, transfer the apk in your phone storage. With the file browser, change the suffix of the original OppoLeather.apk into .bak, copy the modified apk into the /system/app/Oppoleather folder, modify its permissions according to the old file (i.e. rw-r--r--). That's it.
Thanks on behalf of many owners here. It's rare to see someone reply to something in such a helpful manner and in plain english instead of abbreviated jargon
