Hello and thank you ahead of time for reading my thread. I spent a good deal of time searching for solutions in your forums but couldn't find anything related, so apologies if this is a repost.
I recently flashed my stock htc incredible with the leaked 2.2 ROM. While the flashing and installation of the new OS was successful, the phone itself is now acting really weird.
First, it is incredibly slow. There is a noticeable lag between the time I touch the screen and the time the touch actually registers. For example, to dial a number, I have to long press every button for it to register.
The second and much more annoying issue is the phone starts doing all sorts of things on its own. When sending a text message for example, all these keys are randomly pressed, it goes to the desktop, back to sending a text, inputs all these random characters, and sometimes frustratingly on occasion sends the text message on its own. This happens on and off and I haven't been able to figure out what triggers.
My question is, what can I do to fix it? I've reinstalled the ROM several times already and the problems appear every single time.
If I can't fix it, I'd love to go back to my previous stock rom and just wait for HTC's update.
Your help is greatly appreciated it.
Thanks.
have you cleared data and cache? do you have clockworkmod recovery install? please go through all the steps you went through to install the 2.2 leak
If ur rooted then u have clockworkmod installed...you should do a factory reset thru clockworkmod and wipe all data and cache ...
Then after that perhaps try a good and stable ROM ..
Wow thank you for such a prompt response.
I followed the steps in this thread:
[ROM]Leaked Stock 2.2 with Sense [LEAKED ROM - SOME BUGS!!]
(it's on the development front page, I would post a link but since I am a new member I am not allowed to).
In summary, I first updated to Radio version indicated in that thread (version 2).
I then ran unrevoked 3 which installed clockworkmod recovery. Then, I did a wipe. After, in the recovery screen I installed from the zip file of the mod that was in my SD card.
This is all I have done to date.

Okay...good to go.
You should boot into recovery aka clockworkmod...
Then do factoryreset wipe cache and data...
And I would recommend u install a ROM that u would like and u should be fine.
if ya like sense do skyraider....if ya like vanilla do CM6 test 8....and ya should be okay
If ya get stuck feel free to pm me and I can give u my Gtalk and can help furthur if ya need.
Cheers
I was having this problem too. I solved it by cleaning the screen and making sure my hands werent sweaty before use. I think thays why it didnt register the touch

With an eyglass cleaninn cloth? That worked for me.
I first came across the problem while testing the rom i made, jdfroyo, so initially thought it was my rom. I wiped my hands (which were sweaty) and then thoroughly cleaned my phone off. I havent had issues since.

I have heard that cleaning screen with a certain product (don't remember if it was like soap or alcohol) is not recommended as it leaves an almost invisible layer and can send it to that whacko stage of doing weird stuff. Double check on that... Otherwise, I am with the others > Wipe data/cache > then do a ROM re-flash.

Hi,
Thanks all for your help. And thanks to acid for helping me out on gtalk.
After trying several different ROMs, my phone continues to be really laggy. For example, I can type an entire word in the keyboard before it appears on the screen, and usually only the first few letters register.
I think my screen is just malfunctioning and it happened to coincide with the day I flashed my phone so I am just going to do a warranty exchange.
Thanks again everyone!

Hey guys. I have a problem and not sure how to go about this. My Evo was at 2.2 rooted for a long while and all of a sudden it started acting up. It would always freeze and had to be rebooted constantly. So I had a back that I went back to successfully but it is at 2.1 now (Baseband 2.15.00.09.01)
Now I'm not getting the OTA update to 2.2. I go into HTC software update and it says no available updates for my phone.
So how do I get to 2.2 or 2.3 rooted?
FYI after going into bootlaoder and choosing Recovery, I get Clockworkmod Recovery. Is this normal?
You need to flash the stock rooted ROM for the latest OTA update. I would suggest trying out some different Roms, though. That's the best part of rooting.
And ClockworkMod is the most popular recovery for the Evo, so yeah that's probably right.

Sounds like the perfect time to throw CM7 on there and see what you think about AOSP Gingerbread.

It's pretty easy actually. Once you have root again (if you don't already), go to http://mirror.teamdouche.net/?device=supersonic and download either the newest nighly (30) or RC2 to your memory card.
Boot into Clockwork and go to backup and restore, and choose nandroid backup or backup (I'm not using clockwork, so I don't know the exact verbiage). Once the backup is complete, do a full system wipe by clicking on wipe data/factory reset.
Once that is done, choose install zip from sdcard, scroll down to cm_supersonic_full-30.zip and select it. It will install and then ask you to reboot. Go ahead and reboot.
Once your phone is up and running again, you'll want to get back into recovery so that you can flash GoogleApps, which you can find here: http://goo-inside.me/gapps/latest/7/universal/.
You'll flash these just like you did CyanogenMod 7 a minute ago, although you will want to wipe your cache and dalvik cache (which is located under "advanced" in the Clockwork menu) first.
All you have to do then is boot back up, go through the walkthrough to set up your google account, and then you'll be running (close to) stock Gingerbread 2.3.
If you need any help, feel free to ask.
Awesome!!! Thanks blackroseMD1!! I'll give it a try when I get home from work tonight. I'm not rooted right now. The last time I rooted I used unrevoked because it was so easy. Would that be good enough to get the process rolling?

Many recommend wiping data/factory reset (which I know was suggested and you've done), but also cache and dalvik BEFORE flashing any new ROM. Also, with CM, is it not suggested that you use Format_All?

Your best bet is to use YouMail, which is free in the market. It's a lot like Sprint's Visual VoiceMail that you have on Sense roms, but with more features. I use it, and I love it.
OK, so I am not new to the xda desire scene,
(Despite the fact that I can't post in the rom development thread regarding this issue)
I have tried installing this Rom in as many different ways as I can over the past 3 hours:
Using EXT3 rather that EXT4
Changing Hboots
Making sure that I have got the correct download (a2sd+/D++)
Wiping a billion times over
etc etc.
HOWEVER no matter what I do I cannot get this Rom to function
When I boot up for the first time, I just get a wallpaper and notification bar.
No touch screen response/button response.
Only the power button works as a method of turning the screen on/off
I assume from experience at this point in first boot HTC's setup program
(or whatever it is) should start and guide me through
linking up accounts/inputting Wifi keys etc.
I have scoured the rom thread and others regarding rom problems and nobody seems to have had this problem of the Setup manager not starting.
As nice as the Gingerbread Screen On/Off animation is I would prefer to do abit more with my phone
I hope I have posted in the right section and I would very much appreciate it if anyone who has had this experience could help me fix this problem and get a working phone...
(ps. The Rom looks very good, if only I could get it working)

Hey Thanks guys, but..... I re-downloaded the ROM both versions 1.5 and 1.7 (since 1.5 is thought to be more stable) :/ and get stuck at exactly the same place :SSS I'm am abit baffled since I change Rom's alot and have never experienced this before
Did you wipe dalvik? btw your sd card partion need to be at least 1 gigabyte. It worked for me i had same issue as you. First post on XDA
My first installation of 1.7 didnt work and I had to pull the battery and I thought the same thing was happening with my second try, as the screen just went blank after all the crazy changing shapes that happen during boot. However once I touched the power button the setup menu appeared.
I thought this was strange as every other ROM I have tried went straight from the boot animation to the phone starting without the screen blanking out. I know this doesn't help solve your problem but it might mean something to somebody else, who can then help you further.
ps I have been running the ROM for the past week and I haven't had a screen freeze yet. Which has been a revelation for me, as every other ROM ive tried has been really bad for this.
Hello all,
So I bought my HTC Wildfire S Virgin Mobile on black friday like everybody else. I waited a few days and then rooted. And then I had the brilliant idea to try installing the CM 7.1 Mod for it. And well, I didn't do a Clockwork Backup, and well, it didnt work very well. The phone got stuck on the HTC screen. So finally I installed a different ROM, JikantaruROM, and I managed to get past the bootscreen but I can't use my carrier anymore. So I was wondering if anybody could either tell me how to flash CM 7.1 Unoffical release to my phone, or if anybody knew a way I could get back to the original Virgin Mobile software. It seems that you have all the other stock roms, so I would REALLY appreciate if someone could share the Virgin Mobile rom too.
Thanks in advance,
Wieland959
Seconded. Although I think mine is in a slightly worse case; I kept flashing roms and ended up in a state where it turns on, screen remains black, then the phone vibrates three times and evidently does nothing. So Wieland959, I'd advise you to stop flashing until someone posts the ROM.
And if someone could let me know how to recover from my current state, I'd very much appreciate it.

Your in the same boat I was just in. My solution was to go back to radioshack with the receipt and tell them it just turned off and wouldnt turn back on. Just doing the 3 vibrations. I did spend hours trying to search about how to fix it, but I dont think theres a way unless you use a jtag hookup and some sort of fancy programmer.
@Wieland959, If you want. I just tried to do the OTA update through the settings on the phone itself. It would let me download the file(I believe it should be flashable through the cwm recovery), but when I tried to let the phone install the file, I would get the android with the exclamation mark after the reboot. Ill try to post here, if it will upload. But......
DISCLAIMER!!!!
I take no responsibility for anyone damaging their phone using the file here. This file, as far as I know, should only work with the Wildfire S Virgin Mobile USA CDMA model A510C as this is the phone the file was downloaded from.
Thank you for the file, but I couldn't flash it. What might work though, if you are willing is, if you have rooted your phone, to make a cwm backup and upload that here. From there I should be able to recover and then factory wipe my phone. But thank you anyways for the file. I will keep kicking until the phone doesn't boot.
How are you planning on restoring from backup if the phone doesn't even boot?

Okay. I managed to boot my phone and am able to send/receive texts. The rom I used? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1367701] It seems to work pretty well. However, I would still like to have the original rom if someone could still upload it.
VM USA Stock Clockwork Backup
Well, I don't know much about stuff like this, but here is my clockwork mod recovery backup. It's just the stock VM USA w/HTC Sense. I have realized that I deleted the bloatware, so that's the only thing that isn't 100% stock. Hope it helps.
*Unzip the file before placing on you sd card. (Contains the clockwork folder, which contains the backup folder, and then the folder that contains the backup itself.)*

Thanks for the backup! It worked perfect for me!
would you mind if i posted the link on another forum? i know of a couple people looking for a backup aswell.
You should be able to switch back with the recovery no problem. Correct me if I'm wrong, but to install boot into recovery, install from SD, select specific, and select the zip of the rom. Also, I don't have my phone on me so the wording might be a little different.
MMS is a known issue with the rom from what I've read. I don't have it installed personally.
@brandonhun, Thank you so much. You're a life saver. As far as the rom goes, it still have sense on it and there are tons of MMS errors. So just wait and eventually something will pop up.

I haven't done this ROM change but if its the stock HTC Sense go to personalize and get HTC widgets (perhaps its get more HTC widgets) and you should find an update to the clock widget. That should give you the original clock plus a bunch more new ones.

I'm a noob here, so plz don't flame me if this isn't posted in exactly the right place.
A few days ago, the 4 touchkeys across the bottom of my T989 suddenly stopped working, out of the blue. I don't know why.
When I bought my T989 in Nov2011 (my 1st android), I got it from a guy who bought it for his son, but his son decided he wanted an iPhone instead, so it was brand new with box and factory screen protector and all that, BUT already rooted and running GB 2.3.5 Juggernaut 3.1. Until now, I didn't want to mess with it because I didn't know jack and didn't want to f*** up my phone, so I've been operating flawlessly without any rom or FW updates for 14 months. But since it's f***ed up now anyway, it's time to get my android s*** figured out.
In the past few days I've flashed stock ICS 4.0.4 AFTER WHICH the touchkeys functioned normally UNTIL Kies said there was newer system FW, and so I updated to that with Kies, and then they didn't work anymore again. NEXT, I found out about the *#2663# code, flashed back to GB 2.3.5 and succeeded in updating the touchkey FW, but that didn't help. I opened the phone and carefully examined the touchkey hardware and (without removing the screen) everything appears perfect. It's clean and there are no pinched or torn ribbon connections from a screwed up factory assembly. Also, I have had my phone in a D30 case since day one and it's been forever since I've dropped it. Obviously, I don't know for sure if this is a hardware or software issue, but the fact that the touchkeys worked again after originally flashing ICS, and the touchkey lights still flash on at startup, is screwing with my mind.
The only thing left to try that I can think of is to revert to the older pre-Kies-update system FW (which, so far, I prefer), but I don't even know if that's possible. Can anyone give me a clue, or any other ideas? Thx.
I kinda lost track of your troubleshooting but I'll give u a suggestion.
1. Flash cwm 5.0.2.7 recovery
2. Flash darkside super.wipe script
3. Flash slim star 2.2 ROM
4. Flash gapps 10/11/12
5. Flash darkside cache.wipe script
6. Reboot and wait 5-10 min
7. Reboot again and setup ur phone.
If your soft keys quit working again, I would be stumped.
PS. I picked cwm 5027 cuz its what I use and if u have any follow up questions I could answer them. Twrp and others are just as valid. I picked slim star ROM because I can confirm everything works also if u have follow up questions I could answer them. If you do not have cwm5027 recovery then DO NOT used the two scripts I mentioned. Good luck

Okay, so, here's what I did:
Using TWRP Touch Recovery 2.3.3.0
Wiped cache, dalvik cache, system, android secure, and factory reset
Flashed slim star 2.2 ROM
Flashed gapps 10/11/12
Wiped cache, dalvik cache
Rebooted & set aside for 11 minutes
Rebooted & setup
It's weird, during bootload the touchkey lights light up (which they always used to with juggernaut), but only dimly, not full strength. But they don't respond to touch...so far...
I like this slim star rom. It's graphically minimalist, but it's loaded with options.

gapps 10-11-12
I guess the other 2 good things about this rom is that it allows me to have all the toggle controls in the status bar which I absolutely can't live without (only having five in the stock roms is like sandpaper on my brain), but also gives me a navigation bar that allows me to replicate the touchkeys I've lost with a replica software navigation bar directly above that I can set up with the same "touchkeys." It takes up some screen area, but I can bump the screen resolution to a higher density to make up for the lost real estate.
The only problem i'm having is with gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip, even though twrp said it flashed successfully, I don't have the google apps. I tried flashing it again, still no gmail, maps, navigation, etc. (The ones in Google Play I guess are the 121212 versions and aren't compatible.)

Yes, my hardware touchkeys still don't work. I've been slogging away at this for about a week now and I'm ready to give up.
I would run with this slim-star rom because I can put software touchkeys right above my inoperable hardware ones. Plus I really like the rom.

When I go to download the gmail app from the play store, it tells me "Your device is not compatible with this version" and it doesn't give me a download button. It does that for other google apps too.
So now the hurdle is google apps. Why is play store telling me this? Is there something wrong with how I flashed my slim-star? I flashed from a v2.2 found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2109841.
thx

If u have the play store then u flashed gapps correctly. Whatever else u want can be downloaded from the play store...gmail, maps, nav.
So ur touchkeys still don't work?

It turns out that this is a common issue for people updating to ICS via kies. Although not everyone, a substantial number. I guess the only thing left is rolling back whatever u updated but idk how. Sry

Screen Resolution
Actually, I never updated to ICS via Kies, although I did let Kies flash some type of firmware update. I regretted it immediately.
The fact that I changed the screen resolution from 240 might have something to do with playstore not liking my device. I'm going to look into that. LCD Modder Pro might fix it...
Thx

Just download the multi DPI play store. It is because u changed DPI but if u use the modified play store ull be fine. No need for another app, that probably won't work anyway.

brick...lol
Yep, it was the resolution. LCD Modder Pro fixed it and I was able to download Gmail. But then I soft-bricked it. Oh well, start again.
Thanks for turning me onto slim-star. By far the best rom I've seen so far.
So I was working on putting on a new ROM and when I went to install the PA G Apps zip it said in my recovery that I didn't have enough space in the system storage. Which was a little confusing since I had just wiped it like usual through the recovery before I do a ROM. However I was navigating the recovery since it had been a while and just check out some of the things I didn't notice that changed. Went to the Mounts and Storage area, then I guess I touched "Format /system" and when I realized that it moved to asking me if I wanted to format /system I tried to push NO but apparently I have fat fingers and still pushed yes...So now after having rebooted the phone it is stuck at the screen "Google *small unlocked Lock at the bottom*". And now I'm not sure what to do.
Any advice?
Well this is nothing serious. Just reflash your ROM or flash the new one you werd gonna flash..
P.s. formatting system is a good idea anyway before flashing a new ROM..

Well the issue is it is stuck...I let it sit for at least 5min or so and it just sat there at that same spot. Is that because I need to reflash it? I have the Galaxy Nexus Toolkit, but I haven't used it as of late since I haven't needed it. If you don't mind going into detail I would appreciate it .
Should also mention if I go into the bootloader, it hangs at "Downloading..." so effectively I can't do anything to reflash my ROM or anything. And I probably should be clear that this all happened AFTER I flashed the new ROM and then remembered I needed the PA G Apps. Should have refreshed my memory with doing this sort of thing since I'm not as experienced as I use to be long ways back.

Did you actually use the right combination to go to bootloader? Because from what I understand, you simply wiped your /system clean, which is a simple matter to fix - just flash any ROM or restore any valid backup to make it work again.

Volume button then Power button until it vibrates then keep holding down the volume button? Only way I know how to do it, seeing as I've never heard of another way to do it.

Yeah, make sure you hold BOTH volume keys for bootloader. Hold only VOLUME- for Download mode as you've seen before. If you indeed held both keys but still got to Download mode, chances are you have a broken volume key.

Yep I'm dumb apparently and misjudged how the buttons were being pressed down...now on to step 2! Hmmm....
Seems like the zip for the ROM isnt in the storage anymore. How do I copy it back on from just being in fastboot mode or recovery? I'm not familiar with ADB at all. I may have figured out the problem so hold on...I think I derped and forgot that I removed the device drivers off my desktop because I wanted to fresh install them way back.
Edit2: Doing this the hard way.
OK SO I feel like a total noob, which I really am. I've never used ADB, never tried pushing files, or anything of the sort. I tried for a very long time to get the Galaxy Nexus toolkit to help me out but it REALLY didn't do ANYTHING for me. None of the options worked like I had hoped, the ONLY thing it did for me was to install the missing drivers I needed. Other than that it was utterly useless. You guys may find this funny, but I really had no idea on how to fix this even in the slightest. Even with the responses put here by some of the community.
However, with a little searching I was able to find the answers to my questions, not found here on XDA unfortunately. What I ended up doing was updating my SDK tools and learning how to open up ADB (had no idea why the adb.exe wasn't just opening for me like I assumed it would). From there I used the sideload option in my recovery to help me get my ROM flashed back on my phone. So now all is well and I can go back to being a noob who just likes to find good looking ROMS and play with them every couple months.
Thanks, my issue is now resolved.
