Internet problem - Desire General

I have the modaco froyo ROM and have a sight problem.
When I load some sites, it automatically closes it down. Anyone know why?
An example site is http://www.worldcarfans.com/
Also the xda site loads, it closes the internet app down.

I have noticed that it happens on sites where there a lots of pictures and data.
Anyone know the problem?

Just tested http://www.worldcarfans.com/ on unrooted Uk Desire and no problems here.
Have you tried clearing your browser cache then trying again.

Yes, all working now. I changed the browser settings and then back again.

Problem is still there. Think it is related to plugins.
In the broswer settings i need to set plugins to ON DEMAND. But if i do this, it cures the problem but then i cant see/use flash content on certain sites.

got it working, reinstalled flash player

I think the issue is with HTC. I've recently been getting the same thing, even though previously it would update fine.
I have tried to force stop and clear data but that didn't do much. Seems to be a random issue, it does occasionally update fine.
I got email back from htc, not so much help so i forearded one more explaining issue in depth. Few guys at work with htc phones are having same issues.

chrome phone crash? ICS

Has anyone else had serious issues with the new chrome beta? I tried running it on my icecoldsandwich rom and it caused my phone to reboot twice in a row. I know its a beta and will inherently have issues, but I've never seen an app, especially a browser, act this poorly

I have not had any problem with it on aospX ics rom.

Neither have I. I even deleted and reinstalled chrome, but no dice. It just freezes, turns back after about 15 seconds and reboots.
The last time it happened it messed with my app drawer. When the phone restarted only one app showed in my drawer, so I had to do another reboot to fix that.

Update* After it being recommended that I clear my caches on my phone, I reinstalled chrome. This time I found that it works with every site I tried except for boingboing.net, which makes the phone reboot every time. Does anyone here have any ideas why this would happen? It's not exactly like Boingboing would be particularly hard to render

I'm running it on Virtuous Quattro RC3 without problem by itself. Tried boing boing and it works.
However, I find that having Chrome beta running cause some other apps to FC. (Can't even launch until I manually kill Chrome)

For me it's working nicely on IceColdSandwich 1.4.0
No problem at all on IceColdSandwich 1.5.0,
even the reported "pink"graphics glitches are (allmost) gone
with the very latest 1.5.test3 by LordClockaN.
Well frankly there are better browsers than chrome out there..
P.S. - no issues for me also on lord's ics latest test build

Stock browser stealing defaults

Since my update to 4.0.4, the stock browser keeps stealing my Internet default. Anyone else seeing this?

I'd like to help but I don't understand what you're asking

My stock galaxy tab does that with navigation error messages but no others. I've not seen it happen on my one x.
Have you tried clearing the defaults and app data for both browsers?

I think he means the stock browser is being used regardless of the one he chooses as default.

I'm on 4.0.4 too and it does not happen to me, try clearing the defaults from the android app menu.
I have the same problem. If I set Chrome as default browser, it will be default for some time and then forgets it and the stock browser is opened by default.
I will try clearing defaults for both browsers.
Mine did that shortly after updating. I just cleared the stock browsers defaults and set them back to Chrome.

Yes, that seems to fix the problem. Thanks.
Thanks everyone. Problem seems to have gone since a restart. Though was incredibly annoying as for most things, as I prefer a choice.

Have to say I also encountered this problem.
Searched around the web and also found the solution of clearing defaults. When applied it did work, however sooner or later it happened again.
No matter how many times I cleared the defaults, it just resurfaced a few days later.
The final solution for me was installing a custom ROM (like ViperX), and removing the stock internet browser all together.
To be honest, we ain't using it anyway...

Youtube (desktop + mobile) Force closes on video playback

I've tried searching the forums for a possible solution but have had no luck thus far.
I prefer the desktop Youtube over the mobile app version but regardless on which one I use for some reason lately YT always force closes anytime I hit the play icon to watch a video. it would load for a couple seconds and then force close me out of my browser. I do have the correct flash player and I've tried various browsers installed on my phone as well as earlier versions to each but the issue continues to occur. I also tried clearing data but no luck either. Has anyone else experienced this? and if so, a possible fix? Any advice would be great.

If you're on Deviant then it's a known issue. Something with webkit Ramsay did, thought we got it under control, but I guess not.
Hmm.. ok. I wouldn't have thought it was the ROM because I've been using Deviant since it's beta release as my daily driver and it's been stable for me until today. Wasn't having this issue til now and I hadn't modified anything. Thanks for clearing this up for me though. appreciate it.

Weird that it didn't happen before for sure. But it only works on chrome for me.
