i'ld say any rom with SetCPU will have decent battery...
i drained 20% of battery in 27 hours with regular (short) usage at work

i'm not convinced by setcpu. i surfed for 20 minutes this morning and lost 10% battery life ..

Set CPU
I found that with set cpu running on leedroid if I set any profiles then i struggle to work even though the only profile that is active is the screen off profile.
It's like the moment I turn it on it causes issues.

Unplugged since: 4h25m...72% battery remaining.
Today I used Youtube app .... 5 video's , all about 5 minutes. Did some browsing...not much , about 20 minutes...
So...battery is good with opendesire rom

It is doing precisely nothing for you! The kernel is locked and so you can't set the clock speed. Any perceived benefits are imaginary.

Battery Drain

Hi All,
When i look into (almost) all roms i see the problem with the battery drain problem.
To bad i do not have the knowledge to find out what to do.
But i think that some smart developers work together to find a solution about this battery drain problem.
So that's why i start this thread so we can discuss this

Drain
Tested a lot of roms with froyo and sense. The roms based on 2.06 base are draining relative more then the roms based on 2.04.
Above is not scientificly tested.
Charge to 100% , go to recovery , advanced , wipe battery stats. Enjoy greater baterry life

I had NONE battery drain problems on any of ROMS 2.1 or 2.2, and i did try alot of them.
Maybe theres something wrong with your phone itself (battery).
But definetly try wipe battery stats in recovery.
Since 08:00 morning had WiFi on.. network Data of... and now 12:02 battery is now 90%. DId have play with config the Tasker Tool (Great app).
Tomorrow i will do the test again but then with Network Data on and WiFi off.

I've changed about 8 roms, mostly used 4, but can't say there was a huge difference between them. 2 days of normal use, 1 day of heavy use.
Possibly shadowfrost and DeFrost 2.4 had the best battery life and I had the fastest kernel installed...
I would think that - some isolated problem aside - mostly it has to do with some applications/settings

sometimes my E-Mail application is consuming most of the cpu. It keeps the cpu at max frequency. Even if i try to end the taks with the app "system panel" it wont solve the problem. I have to go into the app and make a manual sync.
i also found out that automatic brightness is using loads of battery. since i set it to static I'm experiencing almost 2 days of battery life with moderate use.
I'm on Defrost 2.1
Hello again everybody,
Yesterday whole day online by WiFi. Using phone couple of hours and my Maildroid Email was active without prevent sleep mode.
Battery was empty after almost 17hours. (+/- 5% every hour)
Today. Wifi on. Maildroid now with prevent sleep mode ON.
Have unplugged the phone 4 hours ago and battery is at 75%
Tomorrow i will test this with Network Data on.. and without prevent sleep mode of Maildroid. And day after with prevent sleep mode.
I know for sure.. the battery will drain very vast for both situations...
BUT Ill let you know
EDIT 26-07-2010: Battery was empty tonight on 1:30.
NOW I do the whole test again but now with network data on and WiFi off
Ive had the opportunity to own a Nexus One at launch and a HTC Desire...I always found Android OS to be the issue whenever i had excessive battery drain.
Ive found my issue to center around the OS 'calling home to sync' (whether 'sync' option is selected or not)Initially, the problem was resolved by deleting all my sync funtions...but that was obviously not practical........ so now I keep my GSM data connection running and I get about 2.5 days on Open Desire (non HTC Sense).
AdamG seems like the guy who knows what hes talking about - His changelogs for OpenDesire actually hint at him having done some battery drain tweaking...whatever he did, he has definitely fixed it
Cheers
Oz
I've tried so many ROMS in the past few weeks to try to solve battery drain issues. On some, I could almost see the percentage dropping as I looked at the home screen! I even bought a new battery thinking I might have killed the original.
OpenDesire does seem to be the way forward re this problem if you're intent on the HAVS kernel. OD2.3a gave me almost two days of varied use.
However, and I know this is going backwards, an earlier DeFrost - the 2.1, is brilliant for me. I'm now at two days since unplug and still at an unbelievable 45% - yes, I know, I thought it was broke as well! For now, I'm sticking with this one. Everything I want works and I don't have to carry a spare battery in my pocket when I go out.
Hope this is of some help. Don't despair. You will find the one for you.
Cheers
I don't get why everyone says they have such a issue with battery.
I get about 2.5-4 days of use with DeFrost 2.2 and have done about so since DeFrost 0.9. I've had it up around five days once.
How are you actually using your phones?
It's not a "Froyo" issue.

[Q] Battery lifetime on official OTA Froyo ROM release?

Hi
Any news on how long battery last on the new official release?
Im currently on Pays ROM, and battery last between 24-48 h, with 3g and wifi turned on and daily use of phone, sms and browsing.
Just tried some ROMs that didnt even last a whole day
In 3 hours I have nearly used 50% of battery and that is with 3 short phone calls.
System, cell standby, wifi and phone idle account for 80% usage. Was using a different froyo rom before putting oem one on and did not have this type of drain.
Also not using an app killer as people have been saying that the system can handle the apps, that has not been the case and will install again.
My battery drain has been up massively since I went to 2.2 with the OpenDesire ROM. Phone standby takes most of it. What's causing such excessive usage? Even on the official ROM now :-/
What ROM's are you guys getting best battery with?
You should post on which ROMs you have the battery drain...
I have had massive battery drain on all ROMs until I started using the rooted 2.2 OTA. I would have to charge my phone twice every day but now it's great, I have 65 percent left after a full day of heavy use.
Edit: tried almost every FroYo ROM before this.

Battery life is also my only problem with this otherwise amazing phone
Maybe it's the rom/radio combination!?
I had PaysDesire v2.3 before installing the OTA 2.2. The battery with PaysDesire with average use went from 100% to like 60% in 12 hours. With the latest one, i lost 8% in 2 hours but with over average usage. Testing the camera, installing apps, setting up things...
That is why I am still not convinced that the battery sucks on 2.2 and I will wait few days (until the shine wears off, as Coldplay would say) before bringing my final decision.

+1.i am getting really good battery performance on this ROM.
but from my experience even from WinMO you will never find a single ROM on which people would agre on 100% that is good or bad.everyone is getting different results.everyone has different apps instaled, using different combination of services (push mail,wi fi,3G...).
Someone will always claim good battery life and others will say it is crap.this is really about testing what works for you the best.
Sorry for my english guys...
When i have a good connection then my battery is ok. After 16 hours i have still 12%. If my connection is bad (i'm in a building) so it search for connection and lost it again i see the battery drain and my battery is empty after few hours...

About rom choice: battery consumption

Hi to all
I would like to know, on your experience, what rom is more efficient about battery consumption.
In order to my normal use:
- 5 mail synch every 15 min
- facebook synch
- twitter synch
- about 30/45 min per day for internet browsing
- no game (max 10 min per week),
my experience is:
- Stock rom: too much!! Battery off on 12 hours
- Virtuous: too much but better than stock: batt off about 14/15 hours
- Rcmix 3d: noticeable battery drain: off about 16/18 hours
- MIUI: better battery life, at now. About 18/20 hours
I would like to know what kind of rom could I try to use for obtain a better battery consumption. The use of my phone is the same...
Actually I use MIUI also because has a mp4 video format saving (mp4 isn't on other roms that I tried), but I regret Rcmix 3d for panorama camera option.
Any suggest?
Thanks a lot to all

First thing's first, you've posted in the wrong thread dude, should've posted in Q&A section.
What i would suggest is, as you have got different answers from all of us, just try out every roms on which you can have your hands on and choose the one which suits you and your battery the most. (I have tried nearly every roms on XDA because i find it hard to stick to one rom just for the battery consumption, its like sticking to just two loafs of bread in the morning to save some money when you can have bacons and eggs with beans.) Also, i carry my charger with me all the times and plug in whenever i need to (unless i am in some place without electricity or if i am travelling out very far, as far as MARS.)
Just to let you know, i am using Virtuous Unity rom at the moment, its good and stable with good battery life for me.

Rom w/ Best Battery Life

curious to see which ROM you experienced the best battery life with. I am not a big flasher but used darkside v8 and CMX and seems like v8 got better battery life. Mainly a web browser, email, pandora. not big on games. what has your experience been like so far?
Nothing wrong with stock ICS (if you tune it right). No need for CPU sleepers scripts or something like that if you keep you phone clean from sloppy written apps.

Why even have a phone if you don't use it? Out of 96 hours you used it for 1 hour, thats like 15 min a day. That's not showing good battery life of usage, it's showing battery life on standby

You right. I was experimenting those days. Besides it was 30 min per day - 15 min of screen time (checking email and reading news) and 15 min of voice call.
This test also shows that there are no rough apps on my phone which could eat battery on background. And the ROM is pretty stable. What would be your results in similar scenario?
If you have read my posts - one day I had 7:40 hours of screen time (was reading ebook) and had 40% battery left. This is another type of usage.
So power consumption is vastly different depending on type of usage... if say you are looking YouTube through 4G your phone will be dead in 2-3 hours...
I have posted results of power consumption during different type of usage so one can compare more objectively and not against "OMG this ROM/app are so good" statements.
Don't have any stats to prove it other than experience but after a few hours on Jedi Mind Trick I can already tell it's being great on battery compared to any AOSP based ROM and it's SNAPPY fast!
For some reason it reminds me of the Darkside GB based ROM Digital Warfare (this thing was crazy good on battery!).

some people use 007 and others 006. New JEDI V5 is ready to download
I'm on rooted Stock ICS and get 6-10 hours of battery life depending how much I'm using my phone whether it's on facebook, twitter, foursquare, instagram, textin etc etc.

[MOD][18-02]New configuration of stock JB KERNEL for less power usage

NEW CONFIGURATION
OF STOCK JB KERNEL
Hi guyz, since i don't like the default parameters of stock JB kernel,
i'm trying to use my own one witch i could have little less power usage
with hight tasks like web browsing or gaming.

HOW IT WORKS?
Simply, it decrease the cpu ramping up to maxfreq to preserve
a lower voltages of the SoC, it means, less power usage.
In fact, MilliAmpere used are less.
HOW TO FLASH?
REALLY?!? :silly:
Flash it as a normal ROM.
####################
You could have issues
Enjoy and, if you like, rate 5 stars
and sure, FEEDBACKS me!!
It's an order!
It should works with all SENSE JB roms.
P.S. 5 mins of usage isn't a test,
2 days from a complete charge to a complete
discharge are that, and sure, WITH THE SAME USAGE!!
An Example

FAQ
- What about this MOD?
It's a script witch changes Ondemand's parameters
- Could damage my phone?
ABSOLUTELY NO! why? because it's only a script witch write some numbers, after a reboot, numbers comes to stock setting if MOD will be removed
- Is it invasive for my rom?
ABSOLUTELY NO! it doesen't change anything in system files, only write some numbers in governor's parameters, those returns at stock value after 1 reboot (if you delete the mod)
- Should i have little lags?
Yes, you could, because this setting decrease the ramp up of the cpu, it means, less frequency = less power usage.. but.. means less performance too!
- Is it a mod for hardcore gaming?
No, i create that only for normal dalily use + web browsing, you should have little lags!
- I have some issues after installing this mod, what about it?
Since this only changes some values, the ONLY thing you could have is a lagghing phone, other issues are rom fault (or maybe your fauilt)
- I have choppy youtube videos, what could i do?
Nothing, don't know why but, probably, youtube needs 1.5ghz of core, and, this mod decrease the ammount of time spent at that frequency. It's an nvidia hotplug error, it should turn on 4 core at low freq, but, it doesn't do, so, for now, don't know what we could do to fix it! Need the source code of kernel!
- I don't like your mod, how to remove?
Flash the remove zip file and fuk off! (ahahahahaha )
WOULD YOU LIKE TO ADD MY MOD IN YOUR OWN ROM?
For me, it's ok, but, my opinion, some users has issues with gaming and youtube playback, so, if you FORCE ths mod to him, you could lose credibility!
This mod decrease the benchamrks results too! So, my advice is to ADD THIS THREAD LINK IN YOUR ROM'S THREAD WITCH YOU ADVICE TO TRY MY MOD!

Simply change and force some parameters setting of the ondemand governor
I did it to preserve the ramp up of the cpu to maxfreq, it means less power usage

YOU COULD HAVE LITTLE LAGS! COULD!

You'll see the difference in a completely day, if you already uses the phone, you don't have a completely charge, and the % of battery is calculated and not real. What i would say?
Simply, decrease from 100 to 90 isn't the same as 20 to 10%!
You'll see in a completely day with a completely charge

Hi iba, what real benefit can bring your MOD. We have battery saver in JB and his function is the same as your mod or is there some diference?

this function has a similar effect, the different is i'm using another parameter
the difference is, with my mod, the most hight freq witch is used is 1.2, but 1.4 and 1.5 will used too, if those are real necessary
with normal battery saver force to max 1.3ghz
is quite different
Ok, now understand...thanks for answer
