no the SlideMeRoot 5r1 but you mighty need ubuntu that's what i used. first rename the rom i just added 2 at the end
in ubuntu i deleted a fie in the bin folder (logwarpper) from SMR5r1 rom
flash the rom (renamed) then flash the regular rom (no wipe)
note: download the regular rom and put on SD first
EX: slideMeRood5r1 regular
SlideMeRoot5r2 renamed
hope im clear sorry
Eh, don't do all of that. Just change your Theme (press your menu key at the desktop screen, then select "MyModes", then "Change my Theme") to Nest. It already has the bubbles removed on the latest Slidemeroot5, but the theme has to be Nest. You can change the background after you change to that theme.
I only removed it on the Default theme, as I knew people was going to say ( But, I liked the Bubbles!! )

I'm not sure how anyone can like the bubbles... they're so obnoxious. Makes the screen too cluttered-like, but what do I know - all personal preference I guess.

the stock nest theme is in system/framework its com.htc.resources.apk.. you can pull this from one of his slidemeroms and push it to your rom and itll have them removed. If you want to do it the hard way, you pull that file from your phone, open it up, all the png files in it that say container in the name are the bubbles. replace bubbles with a blank icon named the same.

Hi,
I updated to XXKG2 and now the 5 optional styles for the sms/mms app are gone. I always like the really simple black&white flat style.
Is there any way of reinstalling those themes)
Thank you
anybody?
does nobody but me really, really dislike those blue and green bubble-conversations? they make the sgs2 look like some cheapo toy.
try Gosmspro and apply a theme to your taste

Agree 100% - those bubbles look ridiculous. Almost tempted to back to KE2 just for the b&w.
AFAIK there's no alternative at the mo, and I for one am not going to get a SMS app from the market.
I asked nitrozk to see if he could do anything about it in his black theme - here's hoping...
I copied the .apk over from a backup. Not noticed any problem
i thought about replacing the app itself, but it's the new version made for the android 2.3.4
i really just want that one skin/theme.

+1 on that
Yeah, why the hell did they get rid of the themes, and if they really had no choice but to get rid of them, why did they keep the crappy looking iPhone-esque one...
I was thinking exactly the same: I updated this morning and was like "aaaagh where have my cats and dogs gone!!!". I'd get the apk off my brother's phone but it'd involve rooting it wouldn't it?
Ok, well I coppied Mms.apk and MmsProvisioning.apk from the old firmware, installed and still no skins.
Inspecting the new Mms.apk, the funky icons (styles) are still there. Maybe they forgot to put the menu option in?
My phone isn't rooted, could that be why it's not working? Does it need to overwrite the one in /system/app?
Ok, I rooted it and overwrote /system/app/Mms.apk and the other Mms* files from the old firmware. Style selection was there, but it wouldn't change from the tacky looking blue one.
I've flashed the old firmware back but with the updated kernel.
The mms.apk from an older backup would work fine I guess... But the guy over here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1177318
Has themed an old mms.apk black and made an install guide... Unfortunately his attachment has dissapeeard so I'll attach it here... This one includes the 5 skins
Credits to santacruzdz
So this is a replacement with the B&W theme or a replacement with the old skins PLUS the B&W theme?
Thanks
Yes theres a solution, after every new rom install i flash with cwm this mms fix and it restores the message themes.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14500999
but that's probably the old apk, right? the 2.3.3 and not the 2.3.4 version? because the version of the app itself changed with the new firmwares.
Small bump - anyone heard of a solution/workaround?

I have stock KG6 (rooted). Just copy to system/app the mms.apk from post #12 and also delete mms.odex. Reboot in CWM, whipe cache and dalvik cache, reboot and thats it. Worked for me.

Thanks, I'll try it tonight. I was wary of mixing and matching between 2.3.3 and 2.3.4, but you've obviously had no problems.
I'm on KG6 in the Revolution ROM which is odexed, so sounds promising.

Hi all,
Just in case anyone is interested, I have ported HTC Desire's MMS apk to my ace running on GR v1.1.
Some features
1. Change app background black or white
2. Change attachment save folder
3. Custom User Agent (Spoof Phone as a different model for MMS, though i have
not used this so far)
4. Customize font size from list available
5. SMS template gestures
Edit 1: does not allow more than 11 contacts (sam's original did not allow more than 10) ... very bad
Screen shots attached.
MatrixLoaded
Edit 2: Steps and Apk attached
Standard disclaimer apply and most importantly below process will wipe your data so take a backup. (may be there is another way to put app without wipe but i know only this one sr. members, pls feel free to enlighten me of that process)
requirements
KPN FW (i have GR v1.1 so i think it should work on all KPN)
Rooted, deodexed, Root explorer or file explored and recovery 4.0.0.9
steps
1. take backup on your original mms.apk from system/app via root explorer
2. put attached MLmms.apk to your sd card
3. rename MLmms.apk to mms.apk
4. use root explorer and move renamed mms.apk to system/app (don't forget to mount rw)
5. put permission as r-xrwxr-x (after this you might not see the icon on the menu eg tw launcher in case you use it. but don't be afraid)
6. reboot into recovery and WIPE DATA/FACTORY RESET
7. reboot normally and you should see the new app.
Which means it's for KPN , right ?

Hi everybody,
OP UPDATED :
I just wanted to share these beautifull Inverted Black and Blue Apps. I'm only a messenger here, and had the kind authorisation and support of NCANDIANO to post these here for everybody. Please thank him, and most important, go show your love on ROMDROIDHACKS Forum, which is really great !
I didn't made these, so I'll take no credits. Please thank NCandiano, and ROMDROIDHACKS :
Original Thread here : http://romdroidhacks.com/forums/index.php?/topic/15-twistedx-theme/
The amazing TWISTED(X) Theme, made by NCANDIANO, will only work with KILLROMS , but as he's a real Gentleman, he made separate inverted apps only package, for us to use with all other Roms (should work on all J.B ROMS.)
What you'll find (Quoted from Twisted(X) Thread) :
Inverted (Black and Blue) GApps & Extras:
TwistedAppsOnly: http://db.tt/DX8nht1F (Contains for your pleasure: Updated Contacts, Calendar, Gmail, MMS, and Keyboard, Google Now, Email, Calculator, Google Talk, Phonesky(market))(This pack can be used with any 4.1.1 Roms. Google Now may have to be installed seperately, however.)
Flashable App-Zips: For your convenience. In the event you'd like to sample one or two flavors, this is the menu. Have at it.
Gmail: http://db.tt/1veBVDpY
Calendar: http://db.tt/nOxUy7b4
Contacts: http://db.tt/ezCjuaxC
MMS: http://db.tt/dXKhhsf2 (This is the Mms from KillRom, with QuickText)
Keyboard: http://db.tt/VbXsfbbI
GoogleNow: http://db.tt/jDLqcwM0 (You need to be on the updated Google Search from the market for this to work. See disclaimer above regarding if it doesn't take on the first flash!)
GoogleTalk: http://db.tt/waeB0yuJ
Email: http://db.tt/rJ4R5xbd
Calculator: http://db.tt/sYd5V5o6
Market(Phonesky): http://db.tt/H2T9fhVz
FOR BETTER AND NICER AND BIGGER SCREENSHOTS, WELL GO TO : http://romdroidhacks.com/forums/index.php?/topic/15-twistedx-theme/
I particularly advise using these apps with the wonderful RASBEANJELLY ROM, which is already all Black and Blue : http://fitsnugly.euroskank.com/?rom=rasbeanjelly&device=maguro
OR of course using the Original Theme with KILLROMS : http://romdroidhacks.com/forums/
Instructions for flashable zip : wipe cache and dalvik, flash and reboot.
If you want to revert to stock apps...then you'll have to flash again your Rom after having performed a cache and dalvik wipe.
Usual Disclamer : I'm not responsible for the damages that these could eventually cause to you phone. I suppose you're grown-up people, so you don't need me to hold your hand...blah, blah,.......BUT these apps should not harm your phone if you follow instructions...
Yay... Looking good.
Thanks for sharing.
Would it be possible for me to edit the text (e.g in Gmail) to white?

Has anyone managed to install the quicksearch inverted app? I tried both installing it as a normal apk file and moving it to system/app/ after removing velvet.apk (which should be the normal app) but in the first case I get an error message saying it's not a valid apk file and in the second case it doesn't pop up anywhere in my installed apps list after rebooting the device. Thank you.

Try this one and report ; you don't need to delete first the old one, just put the new one in system/app folder, it will override it, and the phone will reboot.

Oh, that's must be why then. I had moved out of the /system/app folder the original velvet.apk in my attempts. Now even if I move it back to the app folder, the stock google search app won't appear in the apps list no matter what. I guess I have to flash gapps again and then follow your procedure.

Yes, i think deleting first the file must "disturb" the system somehow...
Try with the Quicksearchbox in OP, and if it doesn't work, then try the Velvet one.
Instead of deleting or moving the original files. Just rename them. Then it's easy to undo the changes.
Remember to check that permissions are set.

You are right, I should've just renamed it. That was my bad, I thought that following the rootzwiki inverted gmail client installation procedure would work with those apk as well (mount /system for W permissions as root, delete /system/app/gmail.apk and then install the custom gmail.apk as a normal apk file).
For the record's sake, I've tried flashing latest gapps but I couldn't manage to make google search pop again. Maybe I should just do a clean flash of the rom again and try with the correct procedure.
What's strange is that i'm using too Rasjellybean 9th Aug , and i installed this without any issue.
So volapyk is right , this could be a permission problem.
Vaalen , have you tried the velvet apk too ?
And before reflashing default gapps , have you wipe cache and dalvik ?
Flashable Zips- Black Velvet Forthcoming
I added the apks into flashable zips. They're generic zip flashers they'll work in any recovery. Just wipe cache/dalvik and flash. It's not always just the name with the QSB apk, so I'm going to put together a Velvet.apk when I get home later, in the meantime these should make for easier installs for those who don't want to be messing around in the system/app folder. I'm PMing you the links because XDA won't let me link (not enough posts,) If you would update the OP I'd appreciate it.
**Black and blue UI, Framework, and Inverted Notifications Shade are only supported at the HIVE for Axiom ROMs at the moment.
Enjoy your JellyBean!
OP is updated with your flashable zip NCandiano, again a huge thank to you. As i said i just wanted to use these apps on other roms, and pulled these from your beautiful PZ Theme, and with your permission posted here.
But i didn't think you'd come and offer us even better ! That's great mate ! You deserve your own thread for your own work buddy ! I'm just a user who appreciate and share your work.
Flashed MMS apk and gmail apk. MMS apk works great except when you click a thread on the main screen the area you click doesn't highlight. Is this how it should be? Also gmail apk only screen that is dark is the main home screen. When you click to read an email it is white. Normal as well? Thanks!

1. Unzip the theme to a folder in your sd card
2. Go to market and install the metamorph app.
3. Use View attachment UniversalAndroot-1.6.2-beta5.apk to root your phone if you are not root already, or my advice-if you have the time for it-is to install a custom rom.
4. Enable USB debugging in settings-applications-development.
5. Open the metamorph app that you installed earlier.
6. Tap "pick existing theme"
7. Navigate to the folder that you unzipped the theme to, and then select the "ICS_theme_1.0.xml" file to let metamorph know how to use the theme.
8. Follow the prompts and when it reboots, just let it, as it needs to reboot to edit system files, much like chkdsk on windows.
9. Enjoy! This theme has a black statusbar and holo buttons much like the ones in ICS -correction- they are the original buttons, taken directly from the source! Give me feedback if you think there is anything missing
P.S. I am working on a video tutorial on how to install cyanogenmod, so if you are having trouble rooting your phone, then it will hopefully help.

Yeah bro, I tried it but nothing change, I used the metamorph.apk from market and followed what you have said, but I think its not suitable for the rom I'm using.
But thanks for the help you given me... :good:
you might need to adjust the reboot timeout in metamorph settings, so that it doesn't reboot in the middle of the operation.

That's funny, I just moved to ezgingerbread. I'm not actually finding it that slow with the ram hack. I literally flashed it about 15 minutes ago, and this was sent using it. Send me a link, that sounds awesome! However, is it compatible with the ezterry ram hack?
Yes it is, its themed by darinx (probably butchered his name) there are two ROMs actually, one based off froyo by Laszlo and one of dream team froyo, two of the better froyo builds for the dream
Check the dev threads and youll find it within the first few pages
Also andisa (probably butchered his name too) made a great ICS theamed version of ezgingerbread that all includes some additional tweeks, I don't believe he ever created an xda thread but I can find you the link if your interested

Just want to ask what was the things you did to make G1 still great even with live wallpapers under the gingerbread version?? heheh,,,thanks in advance,,,
what I did to speed it up was remove some apps that were running in the background, such as dialer, which was taking up a solid 7mb of ram all the time. I now have a pretty consistent 42mb of ram while at my launcher, adw ex. While it won't beat any phone at a benchmark, it will run quite smoothly while flipping between launcher pages. Try using swap and a task killer, I am using smart ram booster and have the widget situated over the clock on the statusbar for whenever I want a quick boost in speed.
Is there a way to change the build prop to make the dialer and contacts dark?

I Believe it's a matter of finding those apk's that are already themed dark. They are out there though.

So you have to find a dark apk to switch for the stock one you have. Like if you had a base rom and you where going to theme it. How would you make the dialer and contacts black instead of white. That's what I was trying to do. Thanks for your reply.

Thanks that's what I want to do is make my own rom. I finally got a computer. Now I am ready to do this Lol. I have watched some videos on building custom roms and stuff. I just need a little help and guidance. So basically I find the base rom that I am working on, contacts apk and replace that apk with a dark apk from another rom. Then zip it back up and test?
