are there any class 6 16 or 32 gb cards?
my class 6 8gb card just died and im looking to get more space to get rid of my ipod but i dont think a class 2 card would be fast enough to handle 12gb worth of music fluidly like a ipod....
i tried looking for some san disk class 6 cards but i can only find class 2 16 and 32gb cards
and some random "ts" cards that say their class 6 which i really doubt they are

They get kinda warm, or even kinda hot, and can burn out. Especially in the Evo, underneath the battery, which already can easily get >100 deg. F, and not being able to vent.. yeah. Also if it's a cheap card it can just be made really crappy and r/w operations can damage the memory
How do you verify the card is real? I bought a 16gb class 2 from eBay. It says scandisk on it and it only cost 26 bucks. I haven't seemed to have problems with it, but worried about the overheating.

Use h2testw to check for capacity. You can't really tell if it is sandisk or not. Check the read/write speed using atto disk benchmark.
Anyways, a class 2 16 gb microsd goes for ~30-33 on Amazon via third party seller/fufilled by Amazon (less likely to be fake)

if you have a sandisk chip that you know is genuine, compare the two chips. Other wise Google image for a sandisk chip and compare. I think that sandisk usually has a serial or part number on the chip. Not sure of the details but I've heard that fakes are usually lacking something. Also compare the size and build quality to the chip that came with the phone. Sometimes fakes are slightly larger or have crappy glue jobs. Google how to detect a fake. There's some good info. Most of it is what I said.
Ok conducted a test and got this.
Warning: Only 15101 of 15193 MByte tested.
Test finished without errors.
You can now delete the test files *.h2w or verify them again.
Writing speed: 3.57 MByte/s
Reading speed: 13.9 MByte/s
H2testw v1.4
Thanks for all your help guys!!! Looks like I have a good card.
i just got the 16gb class 10 card and here are the benches. im also testing the stock card the phone came with. enjoy!

so i synced all my music and pics and the card works great just as fast as the itouch... but now it brings me to another issue.... the itouch is louder the evo is loud enough but it just kills me to know that i could go louder on my itouch this is bull****
which is card to get ?
you know... i personally would go with some 8 gig class six models, example, transcend is selling the 16gig class 6 for 64.99 on new egg but also selling the 8 gig class 6 for 19.99.... which means you could get 24 gigs for less with over 5 dollars to spare which you could use to get a nice 5.99 2.0 card reader all free shipping. besides most custom roms and all future android updates use apps to sd which shortens the life of you sd, why put all your eggs in one basket? i had 2x 8 gig cards on my g1 using apps to sd for a year and a half and never opened the second 8 gig card sold it in its package when i sold my g1 had 1 gig ext3 partition 256 mb swap, plus over 2 gig of music and a bunch of t.v shows its hard to fill up an 8gig card on a mobile device.
I wish I knew about the class 10. I just got an AData 16gb class 6 for $59.99 to replace my other one that went bad.
So I'm looking for SD cards for my vibrant. I'm wondering if I should be shelling out 100$ for a 16 GB Class 10 card or get the class 2 32 GB for the same price. Does anyone know if the phone might somehow be limited to certain file transfer speeds when connected via USB? I do intend to use the card for video and have all my apps on it. Thoughts?
From wikipedia:
The following are the ratings of some currently available cards:
Class 2: 16 Mbit/s (2 MB/s)
Class 4: 32 Mbit/s (4 MB/s)
Class 6: 48 Mbit/s (6 MB/s)
Class 10: 80 Mbit/s (10 MB/s)

You might compromise and look for a class 6 -- i've seen a lot more class 6's than 10's so you might get a much better value from a class 6 purchase -- unless you need/want the fastest possible.
Lets just say I survived for a couple of years or whatever the time frame was running my apps off my G1 on a Class 6 card just fine.
Avatar runs fine on my SD card so I'd guess at least whatever that is if you are running video.
Thanks for the input, anyone actually have a 10 that they are using? A 6 is a viable option...
Sent from my Vibrant using XDA App
Class 4 is plenty fast. Class 10 imo for this phone is a waste of money. I got a class 4 16GB for $32.99 last weekend.
Go for a class 6, 10 is overkill and really intended for mass writes in the form of very high quality video or photos in quick succession.
~ infinityv ~
i have a 32 gb class2 and it plays my 720p .mkv videos just fine
Not all micro SD cards are made the same even if they say they are a given class. Stay away from eBay there are cases where people modify the firmware of the card and you get a card that is actually smaller or slower.
The best cards are name brands like Sandisk or Lexar. Transcend is also a very good brand and the tend to mark their card such that they always meet the spec but often read at higher speeds. Kingston is the name brand card that I have seen so far, but reviews on Newegg indicate that it's R/W performance isn't class 10 (<10MB/s). Some vendors interpret the class spec such that they say cards are class X if their peak read speed is X instead of their lowest R/W speed should not go below X.
I'd recommend getting a class 6 Transcend card (lifetime warranty). The sweet spot right now is 8GB class 6 for ~$20. Their 16GB is like ~$75 on Amazon.
Class 6 is good if you plan to run apps or put extended partitions / swap on it. That is what I did with my old G1. It is also a safe bet if your planning to record at 720p.
If you just need space for playing movies and music you can go for the cheaper 32GB cards. I'd pick a class 4 to be safe if your doing HD movies.
I was at target tonight and I saw that they are selling an 8gb microsd card (class 4 for all you nerds out there. ) for only 9$! I usually can only find these for 20-25$ but this was amazing. I will now have to find a use for my old 4gb (class2) but whatever, more memory is more memory. Just figured I would share this for everyone to take advantage of. I think it's well worth it.
It's a clearance sale
8GB cards are being as attractive as a 2GB, at least for me.
Even Feature phones today having capacity for a 16GB and 32GB cards.
Still both of them are a little pricey, especially for a higher transfer rate cards class 4-10.
For me anything less than 16GB in a phone is unusable as my CD collection on the card (as mp3s) is >10GB alone.
Using a class2 card that is good enough for both video recording and .mkv play back.
Have to wait till the 16GBs and 32GBs is on sale when the MicroSDXC hits the store shelves.
Same at Wal-Mart...but I wont by anything less than 16!
Lovely price, i'm gonna upgrade to an 8gb as soon as I find a class 4 or higher for that price. I have a class 4 4gb and still have half of it free but only because i'm conscious of it....getting an 8gb will make it to where I don't think about how much space I have left
I have recently purchased an EVO 4G. I am waiting for it to come in the mail. Now I have a 4GB Class6 microSD card from my G1. Would it be better to use than the regular 8GB that comes stock with the EVO?
Well that obviously depends on whether you want 4gb of space or 8gb. The class speed really isnt that big of a deal. It isn't going to speed up anything on the phone, the only thing it will speed up is transferring files to and from the phone with usb.
Thanks man. Appreciate the helpful info.
Even class 4 has acceptable copy speed. I have to copy my music back after formatting since I have found a clean card really makes new roms install without glitches. I picked up a 32GB class 4 for $45 on ebay and it was ALOT faster to copy to than the 16GB class 2 I had previously.
Depends, if you plan to use app2sd, the faster sd is preferable. Remember, the class is the speed, higher the number, faster the read/write.
The EVO should come with an 8gig class 4 sd. I recently changed to a 16gig class 6 sd. I see no difference in speed but the extra space is nice. The difference would be really appreciated if you where changing from a class 2 or 4 to a class 8 or 10. Class 10 is the fastest I know of atm.
In your situation, keep the stock sd in the EVO unless ofc you plan to load it up with apps & media.
what micro sd card do you recommend which is compatible for the razer phone? looking for a bang for the buck with fast read/write and doesnt need to be above 512gb. Thanks
I have personally gone with the Samsung 256GB Evo Plus Class 10 / U3 card from Samsung Mobile on amazon. Currently still on sale £114, I never really use the camera unless on holiday or need to snap a quick pic or video of something as its quicker than writing it down. Conisdering my last family holiday I took the 128GB iPhone 6s size wise the 256gb is more than enough as the only game i have installed is hearthstone. All my apps take up a total 21.33/58.90 (GB) on the internal drive leaving the SD for the camera.
i have a toshiba 128gb, class 10, u3 and the phone lags considerably when using the external cards memory to access.
i have it formated as internal memory as well.
i thought U3 class 10 is the fastest you can get but it still tells me the card is slow when i go to format it.
