Mugen 1800mAh & 3600mAh Battery

Here's two batteries from Mugen Powers, a 1800mAh and 3600 mAh. From my understanding, The 1800mAh will work with the original stock battery cover. And of course the 3600mAh, has the bulkier build. Here's some links for those interested.

3600mAh is sick but im going to order the 1800 mAh i wish they made a 2000mAh normal looking battery with the stock cover.

Let us know how it works out. I'm curious if there are any heat issues associated with the larger-capacity battery.

I just bought the 1800mAh, but it will be shipped in 10 days and will take 10 more to arrive!

Mugen is one of the best second party manufacturer for batteries! It's really quality, no Hongkong Crap.

OEM batteries is the only option unless the battery is inbuilt. Why are people so gullible? The manufactures always uses the best cells for their phones as it is part of the features present, i.e. long talk/standby time.
I have a HD2 and bought two original batteries which were not from Ebay.

maybe its because the people who know they are no good are so patronising when they are saying such. Not everyone has knowledge of these things and not everyone has had experience of this before but thats no reason to talk down to them. Its logical that these batteries should be better, after all they are rated 400mah higher, if thats not the case then you cannot blame the person who buys it thinking it is.

After market batteries is not a new phenomena and people buying such batteries should have learned by others which have made those mistakes before. It does not matter if it says Mugen or whatever on the battery.
I bought a battery for SE P1 on Ebay for 3 GBP and the picture was showing the retail package. When I received the package it was a "Walkman" branded when P1 is a business phone. I filled a complaint and received my money back. I would never do it without PayPal covering the full amount. I knew it from the beginning, if it sounds to good to be true it is not.

no, but what about somebody doesnt know anything about battery tech, or somebody who simply bought their phone from and o2 shop and has never had experience of other people buying aftermarket batteries? how are they supposed to know?
i came into this thread asking questions because to me it seems a little too good too be true, i know very little about battery tech but i do know a fair bit about other areas. other people, even those on this site may not have the slightest clue other than 1800 is more than 1400 and to talk down to them because of this is very unfair.

Mugen makes horrible batteries and have a long history of such incidents such as the ones above.

£26+ for 400mAh more - seems a bit steep IMO.
Better to buy a second genuine BST-41 from SE - seen them for the same money all over the place:

Not true. The P1 battery from Ebay did have a hologram but when comparing against the original battery there was a visible difference.

Mugen 3600 mAh battery
I got my 3600mAh battery on Friday and it works great! 5% drain an hour even with heavy useage. I can go the whole day without charging and still have 30% before I go to bed, beats the OG battery which I had to charge 2 times a day which sucked...

I'm personally a bit skeptical to 3rd party batteries, but I would like to have a 3600mha battery, the added thickness is not a problem. But as far as I know there only available battery from Sony is the stock 1500mha battery?

That's exactly how my original battery behaves... lol

Not for me.
My original 1500mAh battery was dead by 3.30-4pm after taking it off charge at 8.30am and that was with moderate use. Its been dead by 2pm before now.
Got my 1800mAh Mugen battery and i can take it off charge at 8.30am and have it still on 40% at 5pm after heavy use during my lunch hour.
It does work much better

Saw an eBay auction for the Mugen battery set up by "Mugen Battery".
Read the lower lines and they want to add 19% VAT after the sale is completed to all EU buyers by sending you a separate bill for the VAT (totally against eBay rules)!

I agree. I've been using the Mugen 1800mAg battery and it lasts all day without a charge. I even use moxier on direct push for work email.

Yeah the android system doesn't really care, it measures the battery in percentages.
I've got a cheapo 2000mAH that I picked up for my Hero, it lasts a little longer than the OEM battery. I do notice a difference. When my phones battery is low, I can tell what battery is in it without opening it, just because I know how long I've been off the charger.
They're cheap. You can also find a deal for 2 1500 mAH batteries and a wall charger for $10. I went with that..

I'm buying one because they are red lol.. j/k well for $10 more than the China seller, you get "300mAH" more and this guy is in California so shipping should not take close to a month

I was expecting to be able to offer him $10, but he has that set on auto reject so I just went with the 2x 1500 mAh for $10.

I wonder what brand these batteries actually are? If they are just rebranded Mugen's, then according to batteryboss.org they are worse than OEM 1500mAh.

not quite sure what you mean, but ultimately yes, they are all from china. I just thought it was a good deal, but too bad it wasnt shipping from somewhere in the US. I'm not too thrilled to order things from across the world.

I bought the 2x plus charger for $10...They seem to be holding up pretty well, maybe a bit shorter life than the stock one, but if you have three batteries and can rotate through 2 of them while keeping one on the charger, you'll never have to plug your phone in again...I would say BUY BUY BUY, for the price, you can't go wrong, it's worth the standalone charger with a built in usb port.

I am using the 10$ 2x1500ma with the charger... free shipping too. I have only been using one of the Chinese batteries, they are great, they last about, or maybe a little less. I just put the real and the spare one in my wallet... so beast.

I doubt those things are even 1800mAh, they are probably the same 2x1500+Wall Charger $10 deal just a different color/sticker. Its the same exact charger and same exact sticker thats on the 1500mAh ones just it says 1800mAh and the battery color is red.
I purchased the $10 2x1500mAh + Wall Charger bundle about a week ago and have been putting them through their paces ever since, they have been fine for me. About the same as an oem battery, maybe a tiny tiny bit less but nothing really noticeable unless you have OCD like me lol.
I would just spring for the $10 one, search my threads if you need the link. Best of luck.

I know the OP has already purchased the 2x 1500 mah batteries, but I thought I'd add my 2 cents for anyone else thinking about batteries.
I bought the 2x 1500 mah batteries plus charger too. I don't see any difference between them and the OEM battery. I actually do wish they were red so I could use them if I buy the clear battery door that's being discussed in another thread, but not enough to spend twice as much.
We just did a week-long vacation and I bought six batteries for my wife and me to share (coming from the iPhone I went a little crazy). We often switched a battery while out all day, but the only time I needed to use three was when we flew back -- which was a 15 hour ordeal due to a canceled flight. Thank god I had all the battery power I could need without having to resort to $75 external battery packs.

I also bought two of the 1500 mAH batteries, and they seem to work fine. I haven't really noticed much of a difference between the cheap ones and the OEM battery.

I just bought these batteries. Im not into extended batteries cause of the added bulk. Its great deal for stock batteries! Not sure if these are authentic Samsung batteries but if hey end up to be generic, they were cheap anyways.

I've bought batteries off eBay that shipped from Hong Kong for my other phone in the past that turned out to be real. At least they worked and lasted just the same as a real one. To this day those batteries still work perfectly fine. They even looked exactly the same so well just have to see

thanks for this! they look good to me and for 12.99 you cant really go wrong. i have some batteries around from my og epic still and I rarely if ever have to use them because my battery life is great now. nut, this does look like a good buyt to me. im tempted to get it just for the charger. i lost mine and cant find it. i have a 4 and a 2 year old boy so theres no telling where it ended up. probably at the dump now...

For anyone that may be interested in batteries that are exclusively Samsung OEM: don't purchase these. They are generic. This posting is rather misleading.
Just a few points of thought: Nowhere in the listing does it say they are stock OEM Samsung batteries. The picture is there to throw you off, which has apparently done its job. lol The price and logic don't warrant it being OEM. For the same price as 3 generic batteries, you can get 3 OEM Samsung batteries? Course not, just think about it. Also, it would be illogical of the seller to sell an OEM product so low. The Chinese are known for a lot of things, stupidity is not one of them. lol Lastly, if the batteries end up looking like the picture, does that mean they're OEM? No, because of the above reasons, which are logic and price. The Chinese already produce a legitimate version and/or knockoff version of almost everything one can think of...do you think they aren't capable of copying and creating the same simple logo and sticker onto the generic batteries as there are on the OEM batteries? Of course they can. With ease.
That being said, the generic batteries aren't exactly garbage. They're just fine and have the potential of working just as good as OEM batteries. Though there are some lemons here and there that don't work up to par, and some that don't work at all. I just wouldn't expect to get a Samsung OEM product.
Coincidentally, I myself bought another set of 3 generic 1800mAh batteries + 1 battery wall charger from eBay today for $9.99 + free shipping and should have them in less than a week thanks to buying from a U.S. seller.

Sorry, but I gotta vent (and inform) about this...there's a seller from China on eBay with a poor feedback rating selling the highly popular Samsung 32GB MicroSD Class 10 cards for roughly $15 each (they normally sell for between $50 to $75 and still have counterfeits among them), and some moe-rons snatched up about 400 of them in about 3 days time. Really, people? With the ridiculous, rampant amount of fake microSD cards on the internet market, you're actually going to believe a Chinese seller with a poor feedback rating selling "OEM" Samsung newest generation microSD cards for $15?? Common sense isn't so common. Bottomline: you get what you pay for. OK I'm done venting.

i ended up picking up a set of 3 1800 mah batteries and a charger for 13 bucks. tethering 4g really does a number on my battery (guess its the wifi + wimax being on at the same time) and it would be nice to swap these out when needed.
One thing im concerned about, do these batteries heat up with constant use? ive felt the stock battery go up to 42 degrees and i think any warmer than this may end up damaging my phone.

I would bet my middle testicle that those things are as fake as a chola's eyebrows.

dont really care about them being fake, just dont want these Chinese?? cells overheating and damaging my phone.
for thirteen bucks shipped i didnt really expect oem batteries, just something to use/drain/swap while tethering

I bought these.. 3 and external charger. I don't regret it one bit. I could careless about battery drain now. I can now use my phone and enjoy full usage without having to worry. I highly recommend it. Although it will take a month to come in. If you are even slightly considering it, I say go for it.

I'm gonna order some from HK because I can't find any in the US.

I switch between the 4 all the time (1 OEM and 3 generic). The three generics are numbered so I can keep track of them. I've had them since mid November, and I haven't noticed any difference in battery life relative to the stock battery.
I haven't had an overheating issues with any of the batteries either.

i have generic batteries as well and at first thought they were the same capacity as the OEM stock battery but that's only from 100 down to 40%. with the generic batteries, once i get to 40% if i reboot the phone it'll drop down DRASTICALLY to ~10%.

well, the seller in the ebay link, has almost 11000 sales, and a 99.4% positive reviews, so I would think its safe to buy from him..I am sure they are not "real" samsung batteries but, hell, for 13 bucks for 3 batteries and a charger, who cares!

China makes the best lipo batteries on earth. They also probably make the worst. It's a tossup. Luckily there is a good way to tell sometimes. The Chinese are more capitalist than we are now, so if a company in China makes good batteries they will put their name on them. If they make good product and only sell good product, they will gain notoriety and get to increase their prices to cash in on it.
So on these no-name batteries, either take the chance or buy Korean from a trusted retailer. Wot wah!

Had nothing but bad experiences buying batteries from Ebay, then again last time I did it was for my oldschool Motorola RAZR.

Just wanted to report back on the ebay batteries. So far so good, though they are definitely not as good as my stock battery. Good for swapping out when tethering etc. They do heat up with use, the max i saw while tethering is 47c. At these temps its unlikely they will last long, but for ~4 bucks each i guess they are replaceable.
The bundled charger puts out 5.2v at 800mah though it does have an annoying blue led that's always on while plugged in(black duct tape took care of this for me). Would have been nice if they bundled a usb cable, the one i had laying around works just fine.
Overall I had a great experience with the ebay seller who shipped China post->USPS, took about 10 business days.

Well I ordered some off ebay on the 12th of Feb. China post tracking says it just passed through a sort facility. Well, now I remember why I stopped using ebay 10 years ago. I miss when it was just stuff that fell off the back of a truck and people selling their used stuff. Now it's just chinese people dropshipping stuff that takes them two weeks to locate before they actually ship it. *fart*

Review after 30 days of rotated use:
These batteries are cheap. Very cheap, at best I would estimate 1500mAh, and they only go downhill from there. Now I'm lucky to last 7 hours with streaming radio. I would estimate I'm down to 1-1200mAh after less than 10 charge cycles.
I also broke the tabs on the charger inserting a battery too forcibly, but easily fixed with ABS cement.
However, I only bought them for streaming, tethering and to keep cycle count on OEM battery down, but it may not be worth it to you given the terrible life cycle.

I used it for one week now. With stock battery i am getting 7 hours with light browsing and phone call. With QCell battery i'm getting around 8 hours.

Hmm, I wish I would have known about this before, I would have tried it out. I just received the official Samsung 2000mAh battery and cover from SK. Cost me like $45 on ebay.
edit: although I note the qcell battery does not appear to support NFC...

These batteries are quite good. The charger is very handy in charging up the spares. Highly recommend this

I've bought a bunch of 3rd party batteries for my previous phones (Nexus One, Sensation), and have found that they're pretty much all crap and any perceived gains are simply psychological. Actual batteries mAh ratings are often significantly exaggerated on the product labeling, this can easily be determined by peeling off the label and looking for serial and model numbers printed on the metal battery casing. Googleing these numbers brings up product data sheets from manufacturers in China with the actual mAh rating.
I now only buy OEM batteries as I think it's the only way of ensuring your getting what you think you are. Think of it this way, if Samsung could pack more mAh into a specific size, they probably would. The size of a battery is limited by the battery technology, so if you calculate the mAh/gram density of the OEM battery I would use that as a guideline. 3rd party batteries advertising densities higher than that are probably exaggerating the actual capacity.

Jim, completely agree, and have usually found non-OEM batteries to be total crap, however it's possible to find some that aren't. I bought some PowerGen batteries for my Nexus One about a year ago and they've given me performance on par with the OEM battery. I made that purchase based on positive reviews and since they only cost about $10 (IIRC), way cheaper than OEM, it was a good risk and deal. Worked for me. I'm hoping the QCell batteries will be the same, but haven't seen enough positive reviews to know yet...

The latter of the two has 3 total posts on XDA, and "ckang" has a handful of posts since registering this past January (55 total) talking up these QCell batteries for all different devices. Again, they could both be very real people, but this thread to me seems like a bit of a hoax.
But if this thread in fact legit, I do agree with Jim and GPSRider as I have similar experiences with OEM vs non-OEM batteries in the past.

Any updates? I've bought 3rd party batteries before, for my HTC Sensation. Something similar, 2x1900mAh + charger, but theose were Anker, and they were pretty good. Lasted longer than the stock one.
I'm considering trying these as I find it very comfortable to have spare batteries and a battery charger.

I can understand your skepticism. I am one hell of skeptical person too. But I do owe these Qcell batteries (I bought a pair with a charger) and have had them for 4/5 months now. No problems absolutely.
Take the 2050mah for granted. They are not any higher than stock. But the build quality is very good at least for me.

I've had great experience with my 2100 vzw extended battery but that's made by Samsung.

[Q] Slim extended battery?

Hey everybody,
I've tried looking to see if there was a thread about these two batteries before posting but came up with no results. I'm running a stock SGSII (4.0.4) with an Otterbox Defender (downhill skateboarding/military protection). Phone usage includes emails, texting, FB and games.
I'm looking for an extended battery after going through TWO Samsung OEM batteries within 11 months. Both the batteries got the bulge of death. Sprint store techs have run multiple diagnostics and replaced parts but have no idea why this is happening and won't replace my phone.
I came across a 'Galilio' 2500mAh battery as well as a 'Sporting Persistence' 2520 mAh battery while searching around on eBay. I'm staying away from the Andida 2300mAh after reading several stories about how the contacts were misaligned and the battery wasn't really 2300mAh.
I don't want to go with a big, bulky case due to my requirements for protection. I've read about the Mugen 1950mAh batteries being pretty decent, but they're a bit more than I want to spend.
Thoughts? Ideas? Anyone tried either of these?

I got a 2100mah battery that was really just a fake. It does work fine as a spare and it was cheap but its worse life than stock. I suspect those 2500mah you found are fakes too. I tried the andida which had better life than stock but the contact misalignment caused random reboots after a while.
My suggestion is to just buy an external charger and multiple batteries. I just pop an extra battery in my pocket and go about my day then if I burn thru two batteries in one day I still have the third at home.

Anything on the mugen battery? I want to keep my protective Trident case on my phone instead of putting on the cheap back and 3200mah siedo battery where I can't protect my phone... and wish to have increased battery life and I keep having the problem where when I reboot I go from 69% to 19%..... I haven't checked for battery bulge yet

In my search for extended slim batteries I learned many lessons. I kept buying them from eBay until I got to the bottom of the conspiracy.
The batteries I purchased were for my Galaxy S2 and my Galaxy S3.
Lesson #1: If the battery price is too good to be true, it probably is. Case in point, I purchased several great deals on 'Samsung' brand OEM replacement batteries, all were under $10 bucks and all were counterfeits. All lasted only 2/3s of the time compared to the old and well used battery I was trying to replace. Some of these fakes didn't even have the chip inside that communicated with my phone, so as soon as you plugged in the wall charger the phone would immediately cut off, which is bad for your operating system. If the battery doesn't communicate with your phone properly, it's a fake. I went one step further and weighed the stock battery against the replacement battery and the replacement was far lighter, further proving it was a fake.
Lesson #2: High capacity fakes. I decided to try my luck at after market name brand and generic batteries that claimed longer battery life (a higher milliamp hours [mAh] or higher capacity). I ordered them one at a time, each time one came I would weigh it, it would ALWAYS be lighter than the stock battery (the only exception is Mugen). That was my first clue at fraud. Some of these brands communicated perfectly with my phone and charged OK but they were still lighter, telling me they had less lithium and less capacity. I tested each several times (because it takes a few charges to break in a new battery) but they were the same as the others, all would last only 2/3s the time of the worn out stock battery I was trying to replace. In all cases I would return the battery and try a different brand. In the end buying Mugen brand for $40-$45 a battery is the only way to get a quality replacement battery that lasts a long time but fits like the stock battery.
Mugen batteries are the only brand I can find that actually weigh more than stock OEM batteries. Mugen batteries last a long time, just like they claim. Now I only buy Mugen. Save up your money, it is worth the extra cash for the longer life. Would you want to carry replacement batteries around with you and swap them out twice a day or just use one Mugen? I charge my phone once at night and then use it all day long. Even on days with heavy use I still put it on the charger with a charge left.
I've tried most of the names you mentioned and many more. Maybe there are other illegitimate companies other than Mugen, but I wouldn't know, and I've looked. For anyone wanting to continue my search, the key is to research the name brand and see if they have a website that looks illegitimate. Do they sell batteries for other model phones and devices? Do they sell their own brand of battery charger? If not they are fly by night and are selling you a low capacity battery with a short life but have slapped a label on that claims a higher capacity. If you order one WEIGH IT and compare the weight to your OEM battery that came with the phone.

Have you ever tried the Anker brand? I have also read that those are legit. But I will like to hear that from someone that actually runs serious tests on them. Thank you

I've had the anker battery for over a week now. With my normal use I get about 20% more life than my stock non bloated battery

I have the andida and it seems to last about 2 hrs more then the stock one but ever once in awhile when it over heats the phone resets and you lose about 20% battery

Chichitech is legit, 20$ and got a higher capacity, heavier battery for my HTC Evo 3d. I will buy from them again.
Edit not happy with my chi chi tech batteries for sgs2. Loved it for HTC evo v 4g but it seems to be decidedly higher quality than these ones for the sgs2
