Hello,
I finally found a rom i am happy with and have just started to get it setup but i have a couple of problems.....
When i try to restore my apps using mybackuppro i get a message saying......"there was a problem parsing the files"
I can restore my contacts and settings fine but not the apps.
I tried to download one of my favourite apps from market.... A Online Radio but it does not show now.
I am using this rom here
Appreciate any help.
Cheers.
Try use Titanium Backup instead. It is much better and restores market links too.
Titanium Backup does not work on the nandroid backup i made with my apps on it....i rooted using the one step method....i read somewhere that some apps won't work unless it is fully rooted.
Cheers.

I'm looking for the best possible solution to backup my apps and apps settings (Handcent Gmail, etc) so when I flash a new rom I'm able to open up the app thats already configured relativity head ache free.
Is this something apps 2 sd would do?
MYBACKUPPRO, TITANIUM BACKUP, ASTRO FILE MANAGER, etc etc - Just search the market for "backup" and google the diff apps to see the features of each.
+1 for Titanium

DITTO makes everything easier
Titanium for sure
dunno about mybackup pro but titanium backup donate has gotten me out of some stupid situations before. It does the apps / data / system data all seperate and lets you restore each or all at once...going to and from CM6 and keeping two roms updated to play around with has never been easier.
Titanium backup. Back up app+data.
If you are going to a new rom and not the same rom it is best to install the apps fresh and not install the apps using Titanium back up. The apps that are saved are saved with the first roms settings and sometimes just the littelest diffrence could cause all sorts of issues leading to FC's or something else.

Didn't know Ti had this issue but MyBackup Pro doesn't. I've flashed different roms to test (always gone back to Fresh because it's just my preferred) and MBPro has always restored apps+data with no issues. The newest version finally doesn't list SU, which always gave me errors back then until I figured not to restore it. Anyways, Ti and MBPro are both great options.
Hey guys,
i really want to try out ICS but somehow Titanium Backup always freezws after a few apps while backing them up
What can I do now?
If it works for you, what version of Titanium Backup are you using?
Or is there another app that does the same (with market links)?
Thanks
Regards,
Flo

I use myphoneexplorer to make a backup of all my .apk files on my PC(also contacts, sms, notes, alarms)
I've had a recent upgrade of tb(4.9.0.2), but it didn't hugely improve the backup/restore ability on the recent ics releases. Works fine on the beta based roms, and cm9. Try app backup.
Does it always freeze into one specific app? Happens to me pretty often, you just have to exclude that app.
If that's not the case, try My Backup Pro. It is paid app.
titanium backup are so slow in ICS
and like to stuck in the middle
i'm back to GB.....
Used my MyBackup Root to back my stuff up.
But upgrading to ICS worked fine even without a wipe

Happened to me where I tried to freeze app and TB just froze.
Try reboot after installing TB.
Not entirely sure but could have something to do with busybox??? Please correct me if I'm wrong, but you can try update busybox if it doesn't work.
My Titanium Backup work normal on my ICS beta + office.
For me it only freezes sometime when restoring an app. Just force close it and try again.
So I haven't found the answer to this yet....
So i had to fully flash and unroot to take it my Gnex back to Verizon and I made a Nandroid backup but now after all is said and done I rerooted and installed a ROM and downloaded Titanium Backup and nothing was there. The folder was gone. I didn't realize it would wipe that folder away. I thought it would be like a factory reset (data/cache/dalvik) like I always do before flashing a new ROM. I don't have a backup of that Titanium backup folder, but is there a chance if I restore from a Nandroid backup up that it'll bring the folder back.
Not quite sure how the restore works in that sense. Any advice or answers would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Nope.
A nandroid will restore your apps and such though...
So restore the nandroid (you have a copy on your PC, if I'm understanding correctly?) and create a Titanium Backup then.
Yes I do have a Nandroid backup copy on my PC. Basically I wanted my apps back but wasn't going to do the Nandroid restore if it wasn't going to bring back my apps and data. Now I know to keep a copy of the Titanium back up folder as well as a copy of the Nandroid on my computer so I don't run into this again.
Hopefully I won't have to go back to Verizon soon and have to even worry about it again.
Thanks for your help!

There's also the option of using the app appextractor. It extracts from your nandroid so you don't have to actually restore the whole thing. I use titanium backup myself, so I've never tried using app extractor to restore apps, but it has the option and it works great for restoring SMS.

People sometimes complain of TB force closing during restore and such; which I've never had.
But I did get this when trying to restore applications from a nandroid with Titanium the couple of times I tried.
Granted, this was probably 10 updates ago, not sure if anything has changed.
Titanium backup will extract apps from your nandroid too as previously mentioned. Not sure of the steps as I don't have my phone with me at the moment but I have done it many times. The online help for TB has detailed instructions. Basically you choose extract from nandroid then point it to the nandroid and tick the apps you want restored. presto it restores them, However if you don't have the paid version you will have to do them one at a time. In the future you can set a schedule for TB to send your backup folder to Dropbox or google drive also. That way you can restore from there in case something catastrophic happens.
I haven't had to use it yet so can't say how good it is but the app Nandroid Browser is supposed to allow you to browse thru the backups in memory and you can pick what you want restored.

Just use Titanium. That's why it has a restore from nandroid option.
Don't like titanium. Never works for me...and yes...i do know how to read the directions but i would still get force close issues on some apps.
Supposedly can extract and restore any file from it. Single apk files...whatever...and move to sd, dropbox...

I didn't realize titanium had an extract from nandroid feature. But I never have problems with titanium force closing either, months ago it would hang occasionally during batch restores but that has been fixed.

I was talking about the app nandroid browser that extracts single files. And i always got fc from titanium. I use app2zip and flash all my apps back in while in recovery at same time as Rom

App2zip doesn't restore app data. It's nothing you can't do with a root file explorer. You could easily just copy your apps and stick em in the ROM or Gapps zips too if you didn't care about the data.

No it doesn't restore data but as long as you don't clear your storage is still there and i don't have any apps that need data restored. I don't play games or anything like that. I did see they have an old final fantasy in play store tho..All my bookmarks are in sync with desktop so those always come back. While not for people who need data restored it works for me since Google hasn't been restoring any of my apps for quite some time. App2zip is so much faster than hunting and installing one by one

Just curious, couldn't you backup data using titanium and backup apk using that zip method? So you can backup the apk and then flash it, then after restore the data with titanium? Just a thought
Swyped on my Galaxy Nexus running AOKP with Franco Kernel, overclocked to 1.4GHz
I don't really have any data worth saving. My memory is full of roms, pics, and recovery files. That's about it.

I flashed the Eclipse 2.1 ToroPlus ROM last night coming from a stock AOSP 4.2....did the usual Titanium Backup before the flash.
Did the factory reset 3 times as well as format system 3 times like I do EVERY time I change ROMs (using latest TWRP)...
However once I booted this ROM everything (folders) was gone...like when you revert to factory with ODIN...just the basic files were in my root...
I never had this happen before...
the problem with this is I was using "Safe Notes" to keep ALOT of Admin info/passwords for numerous websites I do the upkeep on, as well as some bank info, money owed to me by others, etc....
Now, I DO have a bunch of CWM nandroids from previous backups...is there any way to go into one of these nandroids and extract the files for "Safe Notes" from a Titanium Backup "backup zip" to slip into the directory for the app?
I've done it before with a SafeNotes backup I made but that's long gone now...
I have backups of all the WidgetLocker, UCCW, music, etc. but I NEED NEED NEED to get the Safe Notes info back...
Like I said I've never had this happen before except for when I intentionally wipe everything via ODIN when returning to factory condition...I wasn't expecting it...
Also, what could cause this problem??
Was it because I came from 4.2 back to 4.1.2??
When I booted up after installing the new ROM I went to re-install my apps through Titanium Backup but they weren't there...perhaps that had something to do with the gapps package?
I thought that might be the case so I installed the 4.2 gapps package and still nothing in TB....
perhaps install CWM and restore one of the latest nandroids to recover the Safe Notes file/info?
if I could extract it from a ZIP from inside one of the TB/nandroid backups that would be sweet...but if restoring a nandroid is the ONLY option I guess I'll have to do that...
I *REALLY* need the info on that Safe Notes file...hope someone can help...
This is a great question, I lost my notes somehow with TWRP trying to upgrade to BAKED blackbean 7 on my Galaxy S3. Have you found a solution yet?
Titanium backup can restore apps and data from backups. Hit menu (3 dots) go to extract from nandroid backup. Hopefully it will have it. Some apps store information in other places and when that is the case it's lost. Should do the trick though

If you have a nandroid backup and root you should be able to use TiBu or Nandroid Manager to restore your app data.

I have both, but when I try to restore data for the app, SafeNotes then has what appears to be an empty data. I'm not sure if the database was stored somewhere else. I made a nandroid but lost my SafeNotes data after ODIN. I have tried to look around (mostly in the data folder) for a file I can use with SafeNotes' restore database option, but nothing seems to work :/.
Is there any app that can restore all apps+data where I don't need to re-download and re-organize my apps all over again? I came from iOS and iTunes pretty much restores my phone and all the apps exactly the way I had it if I were to switch to a new iOS device. I was hoping android could do the same. For example I have apps in folders but when I keep flashing roms and I try to restore my backups I never get all my apps restored and I even have to download lots of apps all over again. I have the paid Titanium Backup Pro, MyBackUp Pro, Rom ToolBox Pro and I've used TWRP.
All of those apps will do that. I have both titanium and rom toolbox. I prefer titanium. It's fast and let's me backup and restore sms/mms too

I use Titanium Pro to batch backup then restore APPS and APP Data. Works great with about 100 or so apps I have on my device.
Then only SYSTEM data I restore is call logs/messages.
Sorry I wasn't clear. I am saying that those apps that I have paid for I have also used and not a single one will do a mirror restore after I flash a rom. Even if I go back to stock rom and restore I still have to download old apps and almost always have to remake every page and folder. What I am asking is if there is an app or program like iTunes that can do a mirror restore where all the hard work doesn't have to be repeated every time I flash a new rom?

Some launchers (I use Nova) have a backup/restore for your layout so you don't have to keep redoing it. Is that what you mean? Placement of your widgets, folders, and apps and such?
I use titanium backup and it restores everything for me. After flashing, download titanium and run batch restore. Mine even sets up nova how I had it. Titanium works, I use it almost every day. I flash alot and only clean flash. I can have my phone all set up in like ten minutes.
