Or maybe some advice or any suggestion?
According to the requirements it should not work because the HVGA-screen is not supported:

Hello,
I just wanted to know if skyfire will work on the htc touch hd. Has anyone managed to get it working on their Touch HD. I installed it but get the usual windows error message, i.e it doesn't work on mine. Does it work on yours?
If you do manage to get it working, can you please check if bbc iplayer works on it fully with sound. i read somewhere on this forum that they got it working on their Mobile device but bbc iplayers sound did not work. this will be the best browser to go on bbc iplayer and watch other videos.
Please someone reply.
p.s I got so happy that this will work on the HD, but it doesn't. apparently there isn't a skin that supports the HD's screen. here's the website: http://get.skyfire.com/
Windows Mobile phones: Skyfire runs on Microsoft Windows 5, 6, and 6.1. We support VGA and QVGA screen resolutions. Skyfire runs on many popular Windows Mobile phones including the HTC Tilt, HTC Touch Diamond, HTC Fuze, Motorola Q and Q9, Palm Pro, Palm 800W and Samsung Blackjack II. To check if your phone is compatible with our OS and resolution requirements, please refer to the Microsoft website.
Skyfire will not run on Windows Mobile PDAs. Skyfire runs on phones only.
Skyfire will not run on WVGA Windows Mobile phones.
Skyfire will run on Wi-Fi, however a data plan is recommended.
Cut & Paste from their site
To be short

We must wait a fixed version ;-)
huh, when did they add vga compatibility?? I checked over a month ago and it ran like crap on my Diamond... now I sold the Diamond and got the HD, effectively pushing my self back in the waiting line
Use W VGA Fix 2
->> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442426
i've tried too but resolution of the the hd is bigger ...skyf for smaller rezs...
Current releases are not working with the HD... we have to wait, just that!
p.s: anyway this browser looks promising so much!
Many thanks! Works with W VGA FIX 2...
Although to switch back to regular resolution I found you have to use task manager to close the app and restart.
Doesn't work for me.
How did you get SkyFire to work on HD. Ive installed fix2 and the certificate that came with it. When I try to run SkyFire i just get..
'Skyfire only supports screen size widths/heights of 240,320,480 or 640.
Desperate to get iplayer, if not this solution then the other 'new' thread looks hopeful
Thanks you guys, I'm out of my depth but following your lead!
ashleyp,
install wvga fix 2 cab. That puts a new program in your program list. Find the program called VModeSwitch, run it and change screen res to 640x480. Then run skyfire.
Works many thanks
Now need to try iplayer when at home on my wifi network.

Confirmed that this works 100% perfectly using VModeSwitch.
However, VModeSwitch rotates the screen, you may not want this. I use AEButtonPlus and assigned a long press key to rotate the screen clockwise, in which case VModeSwitch becomes responsive again and I do not have to kill it in the task manager.
The problem is VModeSwitch does nothing until you switch out of it. If you don't want to use AEButton, simply press the home hardkey on your HD after switching resolution, because then the screen goes back to Manila which instantly forces the screen back into portrait mode (but still VGA res). After this, VModeSwitch will work again when you get it from the tasks window and your screen is portrait VGA after which skyfire works 100% perfect.
VGA resolution?
Does the latest Skyfire (with VGA support) actually run at full 640x480 resolution or is it just stretch the pixels for the HD, as though the HD were running at 320x240?
opera
tried it, i think i will just stick with Opera until they fix the vga problem.

Very wise.
I cant understand why people go to such trouble to get a browser to work.
some of us need to monitor pages which display info using fash, I think Skyfire is the only option, right?
Never heard of Flash Lite? Works with Opera and IMO Opera is the best browsing solution anyway. On the other hand Netfront 3.5 Concept works like a charm on the HD for pages that don't display correctly with Opera. Give it a shot, it's free
Okay, I've installed the adobe version for my HD... tell me why we need this horrible looking SkyFire then? I've uninstalled it and the other bits and peices I needed to make it work.

What have you installed?
Adobe version of what?
Can you please explain?
Thanks
Sorry, I went looking for Flash Lite and found a thread with 2 versions, Flash Lite (didn't work for me) and an adobe version of flash lite (I think) which worked. I can now see the flash content on my fantasy football page
I thought SkyFire was a horrible looking browser and just wondered why everyone wants it if Opera can show flash content?
hi,
skyfire doesn't work on htc touch hd , it say's wrong resolution , Ive heard of patch to fix that , anybody know where to get that patch from ?
cheers
VGAFIX
Hi friend you must be vgafix use on your hd, then you can well skyfire run it on your hd.
regards
Aye that would be great if Skyfire worked on WVGA..... miss the perfect flash support from Skyfire
Ditto, Skyfire is great. You can use the VGAfix program that's around here that'll change your screen to VGA. It just sucks that you lose out on part of your great HD screen when you do that. I would think Skyfire would eventually support WVGA though.
The latest version of Skyfire now supports WVGA, check http://get.skyfire.com/; have not installed it yet, will do it later. But great if it would finally work on the Touch HD
SkyFire Update, www.skyfire.com
Youuuuppppiiiii !!
Iphone is dead
Still it hasn't a native WVGA resolution.
Native WVGA or not. It does what it says on the box. Just watched a video review of a bmw on Whatcar's website (an embedded wmplayer video). Video doesn't seem to maximise resolution (much like watching mobile tv from Orange france) BUT didn't notice any lag. Pretty cool! Will play around with it for a while and see what else it has to offer

It's true it isn't really WVGA quality (more like streched out vga). However, it is great to be able to see flash based websites..
Hope a true HTC HD version comes out soon..
would love to try it if it ever got passed the screen i attached (below) lol. Looks great on the video, jsut doesnt seem to work on my HD
Had the same problem until I removed and installed again.
Just installed it. Got it working but all the content is very pixelated. It's kinda like it's stretched VGA like was said before. Uninstalled it, I'll wait for native WVGA.
This 0.9 version is much better than the 0.8 version I had. Still some work they need to do (real WVGA for one) but it still is better than anything else I've tried.
It's nice to finally be able to use Skyfire on our HDs. I didn't notice any major improvement since beta 0.8 (which I used to run on my former KS-20). Actually, videos don't seem to be as smooth as they to be on my old phone and moreover, there is no sound at all. The little speaker logo (to mute/unmute sound) which was displayed on the bottom right corner is not here anymore. And yes, the rendering is not as nice as Opera's, it's more pixellated.
But besides that, Skyfire is still a great browser, and I'm looking forward the future releases.
Love deezer work
But Keyboard still not here on theweb page, Deezer for exemple it's impossible to search or login without keyboard ....
Soory for me English

Anyone using this on edge?
Anybody in North America using skyfire on edge connection to stream videos? Hulu, maybe?
Quality is reasonably good on my Athena and i-mate 6150, but that's at 3G. This is my major concern about the Touch HD not having U.S. 3G bands.
Any feedback about your experiences will be greatly appreciated.

yesterday i used my hd with only 2 bars of E to stream my fiances college basketball game.... im not sure if there was suppose to be video or not cuz i did not read it, but the sound was good.... sometimes my signal faded so it was a signal problem but the streaming of audio with E was pretty good... and i feel for you man, been using H on my fuze for some time now, and it hurts not having at least 3g on our touch hd... but its a hell of a phone and so worth it!

Yeah. It would be nice to run flash files outside a browser. for example as a screensaver.
I found this aq couple of days ago.
http://www.tweaks2k2.com/portal/staticpages/index.php?page=20050228103228923
frame rates on my hd are a little poor with this tho' but at least it will play animations and games.

I don't know, but when I went to Youtube.com it actually played the videos, even if it is flash... But Opera should not support flash
How can that be?
I have searched the site and tried a couple of apps on here - but does anyone have or know of an iPlayer app that works on 6.5?
do a search for myplayer. I assume it works on 6.5
Tried that one...
whats wrong with going straight to:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/mobile/index.html
with a web browser?
Hmmm - yep just tried the browser... thats dire to... IE does nothing... opera doesnt play it and just trys to download the steam
MyPlayer works fine on 6.5 in my experience, I'm using it on EnergyROM Genesis 30th Aug, and it's fine over wifi and HSDPA.
I'm using version 0.96b but I think 1.025 is now out.

Can confirm that mplayer works on NRG, Miri & Duttythroy 6.5 roms. I see no reason why it wouldn't work on others
anyone got the origional htc bbc iplayer app (that should work on 6.5 no?)
i prefer it to myplayer

If you are within the United Kingdom - watching the BBC iPlayer content via myPlayer is free. Just make sure you are using the latest version (v1.050) and you have selected "Access all streams directly" on the Stream Settings menu.

Yep - iPlayer is fine I was trying ITV Player... it says it has to be transcoded via the MyPlayer server.... I'm in the UK....
If you're on O2 it might not work... I think they've disabled some streams
