That's not exactly helpful advice. However, there is little else you can do. The korean version differs hardware wise from the european/asian version so the european firmwares won't work for you (likely they will never work).
So even though it may be mean, there is unfortunately little else you can do if you want to get rid of the korean firmware.

That totally sucks. I wish I could flash my European gt-i9000 to the Korean version so I could take advantage of the native "record call" function.
How different are these two phones hardware wise? Is there really no way to force install the firmware?

O.K. I found the answer to my own question.
Hardware-wise the Korean Galaxy S isn't much different from the European one. These are the only differences I could find:
Korean:
Digital Media Broadcast: T-DMB digital tuner Pull-out antenna
Analog Radio: Not supported
European:
Digital Media Broadcast: Not supported
Analog Radio: FM radio (87.5-108MHz) with RDS radio reciever Proprietary headset as antenna
I really hope that sooner or later a genius will create some kind of hack to make such a firmware flash work

[Q] Running leaky software?

Hey everyone i was just wondering if anyone else has seen this floating around somewhere. I work at a sprint store as a tech and i just had a phone in that did not have normal software. Software number: 4.63.651.2 android version: 2.3.5. This evo has never been rooted or updated via a update.zip file. I was going to pull the system and check it out but i do not have access to adb atm. I attached a pic to try to find an answer. Very curios to see what this is.

that would be interesting... i have done many searches to try and find this software somewhere but no luck. It also still has Carry IQ on it so it doesn't seem like the update that removes it..
I've never seen that baseband either ...interesting
We're comin from a pure power source.
If you go to the Market App it may show apps in english language, but if phone is from Korea it will show apps localized for Korea and not America. May be another country altogether in which case apps will be localized to that country. Language settings for EVOs from Korea will have English or Korean for language choice as well.

i have not checked the market. he will be back in next week so im going to have to check it out and possibly pull the system to have a look at it. Now if the phones software is Korea would it not write the modem to Korea spec and be in international roaming?
Looked a little closer at Korean version Raider/Evo 4G+ and it doesnt look the same. However knockoffs from China look exactly the same on the outside except it doesnt have hdmi port and some other things - http://micgadget.com/6703/here-comes-the-htc-evo-4g-knockoff/ There may be various version knockoffs who knows at this point. Let us know what you find out..curious on this one.

[Baseband/Radio] KRKL1

This is the KRKL1 radio that came with the the Korean 4.0.2 update (yakjukr/M420/SK Telecom). I did not dump this myself, as I am rooted and running a custom ROM and kernel, but rather it was found on a Korean Nexus forum. I decided to upload it here for the benefit of non-Korean speaking users.
Unfortunately, I did not document the signal strength of KRKK7, so I can only offer empirical evidence of any change (of which there is little to none). While I cannot attest to any benefits in battery life or signal, conversely there are also no problems.
If I run into any issues, I will document them here.

Yes. Running it on my UK GSM model i9250 and it's perfectly fine. I have no idea why Samsung gave the M420 code to the Korean model. It's the same an the i9250.

the radio will work on any GSM galaxy nexus, it's location means nothing. if it works the best out of them all, then stick with it.
hopefully will give a try and let you know soon.
KRKL1 just means this is the same as the UGKL1 radio, except for the Korean market. Nothing special here. Not sure why everyone is in a rush to try this.
What we're really looking for is something like an **LA1 or **KL2 radio, both of which would be newer than anything we have thus far.
If they are all the same why google make it hard for it self and region named them. it is not logic. I just flashed this radio, i see wifi signals is lower on the same location comparing the XXKK6, and UGKK7. Will Test the Data speed, also the Detecting the roaming profile for the WINDMOBILE users, as it is a famus issue with the UKKL1

FM Radio.. anybody

Does anyone know how to enable the FM radio inside the G Pro (assuming ATT kept it inside). I know from past smart phones that FM radio ability can lay dormant inside the handset until software enables it. This was the case with a windows phone recently. I do know that the international model had the FM radio. I need to know if ATT removed the FM chip or disabled it with software. I hope some one has root ability to offer some type of FM radio on this device (or using the Bluetooth radio as FM). Thanks for any help!!!!

Default settings are usually best.
It's more likely to work if you're rooted though.
If there is no FM driver in the kernel, an alternate kernel may help.

All recent modern phones have FM tuners built in to them. They can utilize the headphones as a receiver. The problem is AT&T has disable the tuner so we cannot use it without a special driver. @nerdyblonde what do you think could you guys pack this into Blisspop?

Any way to retrieve the necessary programming?
If the FM antenna pin is grounded, as it is in most "Western world" phones now, nothing short of an extremely expensive and/or "heroic act" will fix it.
Do you know, or can you afford to hire, someone with access to thousands of dollars worth of micro-soldering and multi-layer PCB reworking equipment. And the skills to use them ?
In 4 1/2 years devoted almost exclusively to FM radio on Android, I have only ever heard of 1 successful case: A Chinese Android tablet that had an easily accessible antenna jumper. He used my app but we could never enable audio, which can be another huge hurdle.
Vast majority of devices use a PCB ground trace, that can be thick and very difficult to break. Then you'd attach a wire to a 75 cm or more long antenna/headset cable. Never mind the few coils or caps etc that need to be installed too.
TL;DR: Forget about it and get a new phone with stock FM, or a BT/FM headset like Sony MW-1.

I actually got Spirit FM to work perfectly, no more signal losses and finds all of our country's channels.
For anyone wondering why they have no sound:
I've set the band to World 200Khz (as i'm euro) & Audio Method to: Digital OneXL/S/Sony it's the only one out of the list that works for the GT-I9195 (atleast for me), and a few other things at the Debug section, which i don't know out of the top of my head.

I cancel any order at any time on request. And have been doing so for over 2 years. Back then HTC Desire and Nexus One were big and I still support those (as best I can of course).
Now, GS3, HTC One and Xperia's are big and I'm now supporting those too.
It's a "crazy" job trying to support all these, on MANY different custom & stock ROMs, and nobody else is crazy enough to seriously try it seems.

I presume we were emailing about this ?
My ability to support a device is directly related to how much support I get from customers. If it's enough, I buy the phone to support it better.
I was dismayed all variants of the "normal" GS4 had no FM. I expected to buy one, but got an HTC One instead.
I'd be happy to get some GS4 variant with FM, again, if there's sufficient interest in supporting me. I'm working 70 hour weeks and making about the legal minimum wage here for those hours; That's nice, but don't imagine I'm living in app dev luxury or some such.

I'm not sure as ive seen you for first time now and i havent mailed anyone. I do know that developers have struggle with different roms and phones but codes for fm radio shouldnt be that hard. Even the S4 mini stock rom has a FM radio tuner, so missing it on cm10.1 was a bummer.
However for myself, im good now, as i have spirit fm to work with CM10.1.3 as mentioned before.

headphones plugged in as it functions as an attenna.
BAND - World 200khz (This might not be the same for you)

UI - RDS: (ON)
AF - AF MODE: RDS+Region
DEBUG - FM CHIP: (QC V4L HTC) & Motorola FW Load: (HCI)

I think we can blame the US market for the lack of recording in most FM apps. I think there's some group or something that charges $10 or so for "FM recorders". And as always, US market effects often hit the rest of the world.
I think this is why there are virtually no MP3/FM players that record. It's a simple feature addition is many cases, so it's omission seems strange.
And only one company, Samsung, has (had) recording in their FM app on International high end phones (GS2, GS3, Note, Note2). And none of the US carriers sell/sold these International phones.
I presume that whatever groups demand ransom for FM recording have either never heard of my app, or figure I'm small potatoes and not worth pursuing.

Hi,
so I have tried turned off the RDS and it doesn't help.
I live in the Czech Republic and I found several stations with this problem.
The first was Country radio 89.5 MHz (Prague)
My phone is i9195 with Cyanogenmod 10.1 (problem is same on all modifications based on the same kernel) so problem is probably there.

My Note 2 to you
It is already downloadable at sammobile.com
I installed it, beware though of something awful. Screen color calibration and font antialiasing was probably inherited just from the one intended for the new 1080p screens of the Note 3 and S4.
After update colors look bad, no matter the screen mode you choose.
Fonts also look bad, they look bold instead of normal typeface everyhwere, because they changed the antialiasing method, probably improving rendering form 1080p screens, but in 720p things just lost detail, all fonts look square, and I don't mean the interface fonts, I mean webpage fonts, document fonts, etc.
Performance is OK, I am so sad they got this display thing so wrong, because if the screen looks bad, what's the point of having such a expensive one.
dude i'm on the same build as you , just be patient ,when you plug it under kies i bet it shows (PHE) ??
