unlocking problem... :( - Desire General

hi guys...
i have bought an unlocking code from ebay... and i entered that code and it told me it was successful.... but if i dont get any network activity.... and also wen i restart the phone.... the phone asks me to enter the code again...
any1 had this b4? or any1 can guide me on how to sort this out?
many thnx
saif

any1 can help?

For me i Entered in my Code Twice
When i Entered in a Sim Card that was not allowed it asked me to eneter in my Code,
I done this once and it said it was Successfully,
then i entered it in again,
And give it some time and it asked me to select an Operator
O2, Vodafone, Orange etc.
This took something like 3 - 5 Minutes for me
Please dont Double post!

for me.... it didnt do anything.... just said successful.... every time i entered it in... the same message.... done it 5 times so far i am use DeFrost 2.0e if that makes any difference?

Unlock Code as in to Unlock your Phone to Any Network,
If so what is your current Provider i.e. Orange?
If so Place in a Sim card other than orange, and you should see Sim Registration Failed,
Enter in your code
You should see Successfully,
Enter it in again and wait!!

how do i enter it again?

What?
Did your Seller Post you a Link?
https://www.xpresscodes.com/faqs.php

thats the person i bought the unlocking code.... he gave me the same site.... but still.... i did that and it still dont work... if i turn the phone off n on again.... it asks me to enter the code again... it says successful but i dont get network.... if i go n search for network list it comes with an error message "error while searching for network"

Well it worked for me,
I entered my code in twice As instructed,
I have 0 Problems,
If suggest you got back to the seller and explain he may be able to assist you,
But Put in a Different Sim Card,
Enter in your Code Once, it will say Successful,
Then enter it again, and it will say the same and thats it

the phone asks me to enter the code only 1s :S

You need to flash back to the rooted 2.1 Rom you first rooted your phone with. You can't sim unlock on a custom Rom.

Yes, you can.
But yea, if you downgrade to a 2.1 ROM and insert a different SIM or upgrade the radio you'll just have to enter your code there and it should work. Worked for me anyway.

I'm reporting my findings. Couldn't unlock my sim using a froyo Rom without sense, but using my old 2.1 installation everything worked fine. The problem OP is having is the same I had.

thank you for ur help.... i will try that now and report back
would any rom thats 2.1 will do? or has to b stock rom?

Any ROM mate, I flashed DJDroid as it was the first one I seen.. but any should work.

[Q] Probme with sim unlocking HTC S620/Dash

Hi there.
I have a problem with sim unlocking my phone. T-Mobile already gave me my unlock code.
I entered it once, and it told me wrong code. I don't know if I typed the wrong code or if they sent me one. I swear i only did it once.
Anyway, my problem right now is that when I insert a new sim card, it does not prompt me for an unlock code.
My sim card is unaccessible plus I don't have any signal.
I already have done a hard reset twice, and still not prompt.
Can anyone help me how to make the phone prompt for the sim unlock code?
did u buy it off someone?
Nope. My service provider, T-Mobile gave it to me.
I also have flashed to the phone to the latest ROM here. Still no go...

You need to flash to a 6.0 or 6.1 rom so you can get the sim unlock message. If you flashed a 6.5 rom this will not happen.
This is something that is on the sticky. On that note, thread closed.

what does 'properly unlocked' mean ?
I say you might have unlocked the bootloader, bit the phone still has SIM lock.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire S
hmm, so you saying if i go back to the shop and get them to unlock properly, it might let me use the o2 sim???
is there anything i can do....having only a modest knowledge of these issues?
and in reply to properly...sorry i wasnt specific - i meant that when you put an o2 sim in and turn it on...it doesnt ask for a pin or code to unlock the phone??
Well did you buy it in a O2 shop? If yes, then there appears to be a problem with you handset. If you DIDN'T buy it in a O2 shop(which means any other,T-Mobile,3,etc.) Then you're out of luck because it it probably SIM locked to that carrier.
You should bring back the handset back to the shop and ask them to remove the SIM lock.
ok, so here we go...
Went to the shop and they say the phone is unlocked. When i put an o2 sim card in, it does not require a pin when the phone switches on.
It works with tmobile sim, orange, virgin just not o2....
so it is unlocked just wont take o2.....
any ideas why?
its originally a tmobile wildfire - spoken to tmobile and they say they have completly unlocked.....

do you have any other o2 sim to test it ?
you should also go and change your sim, might be rly the SIM problem ...here changing sim costs 10 bucks, i hope its free in your case.
im afraid im a step ahead - all o2 sims dont work - i had a brand new 3g sim sent out by o2 and have tried a pay as you go sim on o2 - still wont work with any o2 sim....
any ideas?

a ok, i didnt read that one... lets try to keep this on one thread. why dont you try flashing stock rom again... i mean its worth a shot... i guess you dont use any custom roms atm ? or even try flashin any custom rom, just to try it ... if it doesn't work then, well, we will see it's a very strange problem.
did you try connecting with 2g, and not 3g...
or maybe changing setting in *#*#3646#*#* then phone information, then set preffered network type... and try changing those also ... First try this, and if it doesnt help then try what i wrote above.
ok,well - had a read of your suggestion and only a slight problem with it...i am a real beginner when it comes to this so apologies but rom flash???
Also looked at the *#*# suggestion...unsure how to do that - did try typing that into the keypad on the phone part but it didn't do anything..
apologies im not up to speed..any way to simplify for me?
oh, and also someone has suggested going into the bootloader so i took out the sim and battery, put it all back in and held down volume and power. at the bootloader menu, i selected simlock. when i pressed it the following was displayed..
fat 32 init ok
open mccmnc file fail
open cid file fail
process done, reboot?
does this help explain anything??

i guess you didnt unlock via xtc clip... you should write the code that i told u on dialer pad, it should immediately open a meny, i will make photos when i come home as a more detailed guide k ?
ok, just to save you some time if you dont need to spend it - the phone was unlocked at a local shop - no idea how they did it - although im guessing badly...
i typed that code in - when i enter the final * the code just disappears and it does nothing. I did enter the code without the last * and it said mmi running but then said incorrect mmi...

thanks - tried that and got into the phone menu. The current preferred choice is WCDMA - there are other options but nothing to suggest that an o2 sim should be blocked....

so it looks like we're stuffed here???

[Q] HELP!!!!

I have a HTC One X, i have unlocker bootloader etc & installed LeeDrOiD One Xtreme V6.2.0, everything works, but, my phone is on Orange, but i was told installing a custom rom would allow me to use another sim (T-Mobile), but when the phone reboots after install the custom rom, it says network locked & will only accept an Orange sim.
Is there any custom rom / stock rom that i can use to get around this??

Iw as told by Android.com to flash a custom rom & it would work, everywhere i try to get a sim unlock code from, says you have to wait a month after getting the phone, before the imei is registered!
Wish i had stayed away from HTC, not had any of this with the Galaxy Note
thanks for you reply

The carriers simlock the phones not HTC. Try ferraripassion on here, he sorted me an unlock code in 5 mins a few days after i got my phone.

IMEI unknown, but phone working normally

Hi folks,
strange issue, I bought the HTC One X locked to our network, from another guy. It was rooted via HTC dev with Mike's revolution over it. Everything was ok, except it was locked to a network I dont want to use with.
So I tried with HTCSimUnlock.com, purchased unlock code, received it instantly, and tried several times to insert it. But every time, display showed "unknown password" and no luck.
What I discovered when I took to record the procedure of unsuccessful inserting the code to claim for money back, was that imei number is missing, and actually in the settings imei showe as "unknown". The most interesting thing is that phone is working normally, with of course, sim card from the network that the phone is locked to.
I wrote to HTCSimUnlock.com ,and waiting for the answer, but I dont know should I do something, try to get the RUU back to stock rom, or hard reset, but am little afraid that phone could stop working...

you could try the hard reset or RUU. whether the phone will stop working or not, i personally would try it, but you make your own choice. its a risk best thing i can suggest is play it safe, sell it on and get an unbranded one
How could you buy a unlock code without IMEI in the first place? And secondly, if you reboot into bootloader and choose "show barcode" then I guess there is a IMEI? In that case, just try a new rom, or better yet a ruu.
Download the appropriate Ruu and update it, this is a common issue on the S2 as well with ics during flashing, possibly someone updated it before you and it didnt go according to plan.
first time i have come across IMEI known, i know the serial number came back unkown once, try the RUU, like i said i dont think it will mess up your phone because your restoring it to factory conditions obviously.

no, imei was there in the first place, and after my attempt to unlock it, it dissapeared...
Then, I listened to you, and went to barcode, and imei was there normally.
Now, when I bootup, imei is here! Crazy staff...thanks...I really dont understand what happened...

[Q] SIM unlocking phone

Hi all
I recently came to the end of my contract, and decided that I was quite happy with my Desire HD, I would switch to PAYG
So I got a code from Orange to unlock the handset.
I put my new SIM in, and it came up with "SIM Network Unlock PIN" and a text input box, plus buttons for Unlock and Dismiss.
I enter my unlock code, and it says "Network unlock successful"
As I understand it, at this point it should reboot and reflash the radio. It does not do this, it simply goes to the home screen and I have no reception. It is just as if I have clicked Dismiss.
Please can someone advise how I can get this to work?
I'm running IceColdSandwich.
Thanks.
Did you put the sim cover back on? Its needed for the antenna

Yes, I did. As I said, it hasn't even done the bit where it reboots to flash the radio.
What if you reboot manually? You could always head back to the carrier and let them know the code didn't work.
You could also achieve soff,in doing so also sum unlocks

If I reboot manually it just boots as normal and shows the "SIM Network Unlock PIN" screen again.
I think the problem is the handset rather than the code, as when I enter the code it does say that it has been accepted - it just then doesn't reboot.
Thanks, I'll try the SOFF method.
I can't get ADB to connect from my work PC, so I'll try this when I get home later.
Thanks.
