Boot animation for CM5 and CM6.
I redid the original DroidX boot animation as best I could and was very pleased with the quality of the port.

Instructions
1. Download bootanimation.zip
2. Put it on the root directory of your SD card
3. Open the terminal app and enter:
su
cp /sdcard/bootanimation.zip /data/local/
reboot
OR
If you want to save internal space you can replace the original boot animation from /system/media with the new one using ADB or, the easier way, with DroidExplorer (de.codeplex.com)

I saw that one but I wanted one that had the same size and quality as the original, so I made my own. The other one was cropped and cut out the sides of the animation.
Nice stuff, Thanks!
Thanks, glad you like it!
Love it would love it more if it was blue instead of red

You're the man! I have a G1 & Aria. Turns out the Aria also uses the same bootanimation as the G1. I was using the Droid X bootanimation but like you stated it cuts off some of the image. Thanks a lot for this!

How to enter in the information in Terminal Emulater??
Kinda of a weird question, but I don't know and that is why I'm asking.
So after I have put the bootanimation.img onto the root of my sd and I open the emu. I type su.... now do I press enter and continue with process or do I just type the whole code or do I press enter to make it look like how you have it?
Example:
su <enter>
blah blah <enter>
bloah bloah <enter>
reboot <enter>
I have a G1 running Cyanogen 5.0.8, have the newest radio, I think I'm pretty much up-to-date as far as my taste goes.
P.S. Thanks and your work is AWESOME!

didn't work for me. I tried the nexus boot animation one.
I followed everything (named it to bootanimation and it is a zip file) and pushed it to the location you pointed out.
I'm on SuperD v1.7 themed with Espresso but will this work for any ROM like maybe....MLIGN 3.2B?
EDIT: After seeing what was actually in the zip file, I'm guessing this is for 2.x ROMs and not 1.x.

great work!
These look GORGEOUS! I'm about to push the paint splash one (I need to get rid of my sound-making one anyway).
Just pushed, they are a lil low quality but great nonetheless. Thanks.
I can't get it to work. I'm on King's Espresso 1.2, so it's based on 2.1, it has an animated bootscreen already. i tried pushing the file, and it *said* it did it, but then I rebooted and there was no change. I looked inside the ROM and found several .gif files, a background, and a sound, with a document telling the phone how to load them.. so how do I change the ROM to work with this? Thanks

Hero is a little different, it looks for the boot in a .gif in /system/media/bootscreen. If you want these you'll need to grab the bootanimation file in /system/bin. Then put it on your sdcard and in terminal:
rwsystem
cp /sdcard/bootanimation /system/bin
chmod 0755 /system/bin/bootanimation
Put the bootanimation.zip in /system/media and reboot

can you make these into zip files that can be flashed through the recovery image??
that'd be amazing....i tried through terminal and i cant get it to work...i'm on open eclair 1.2.2 btw. thanks
Ha, might want to just flash over to 2.1 because of all these, it looks sick xP any chance of them being ported to 1.6?

No you cannot port these to 1.6 since only eclair will allow multiple .png images to be stringed together and you can't flash them, you have to push them in via adb.
Hi, I'm searching for the "htc quietly brilliant" bootanimation like on htc desire.
Someone got it? Can't download the desire port for nexus one to check if its in there.., always getting redirected to modaco.com
Edit // got it, did find alpha 1 or something on my hd
anyone know what this might be about I accidentally put the boot animation to /system/media earlier and now it wont let me flash to this and gives me an odd error?
well thats annoying the photo came out wrong but w/e it gives me failed to copy bootanimation.zip 'system/media/' is a directory?
you guys should push these to /data/local.../system/media deletes the original one. i've never had a problem pushing any boot ani to data/local..
I actually don't have the G1 but will this work for the droid eris 2.1?
Oh the Dimensions area little different... for the eris I read somewhere that they should be 320x480.
anyone willing to convert these for the ERIS?

Heres the droidx bootanimation. Use it like u wud a regular 2.0+ bootanimation, so push to /system/media/
Heres wht i changed;
1. Cropped
2. Resized
3. Increased frame-rate
4. Compress the png's (Saved ~2mb)

Theres a few png's in the droid incredible animation that look really bad if u dont make it full resolution 320x480. But when u do, it looks bad cuz the image is stretched. Im talking about the images where the flash is at its fullest. So i removed those and created a smooth transition between them. Here try this one more suited for our devices. Btw both this and previous have been sharpened, cuz it was blury.
Pushed this to froyo on my G1 and it looks amazing ;D Thanks a lot
Thanks Donsheem, it looks really nice. Much better then ugly boot on froyo.
realy smooth. now do the droidX LW i cannot find it anywhere :|

I made a splash screen for the g1 and Mytouch 3G, Mytouch fender, Mytouch 1.2, and 32A magic.
It is the droid x eye at the full flash. I made it, and flashed it using fastboot and it works perfectly and looks great. If you want, here is a link.

If you want anymore splash screens from the boot animations posted in this thread, just ask me.
Hey there,
That boot is pretty sick. I have a question/request.
I was wondering if there was anyway to pull the audio file, the "droid" part, from that and use it with a different animation. I'm using scribble with the Cyanogen circle now, it's neat.
When I first got CM5.0.8 and rebooted I got this wac "office phone ring" thing goin on when it boots. I'd really like to replace that with something cool lol. Hell even an R2D2 scream would be better that that damn ring.
If possible that would be great! If not then panda will be sad
Thanks in advance!

Thank you.
Seems easy enough. I am new to this game, I assume this would be done through sdk or would android commander work. As for the dump...I've no idea where to start looking for that. I'll start with google search.
I the process to do this is in sdk, just use the norm sdk commands?
Sorry for the 20 questions but I want to make sure I do it right.
Again thanks for your help, it is greatly appreciated.

make sure the file is named boot.mp3
I would use AndroidCommander because you can't use normal adb commands to push things into system
or use the terminal. put boot.mp3 onto the root of your sdcard, and go into terminal
su
#cp /sdcard/boot.mp3 /system/media/
that should work.

K so file is named and good to go, followed the path you gave and no luck I still have the ugly ringing sound when it boots. Any Ideas?
Boot up/down tone
____________________________________________________________________
After some research and a good recommendation from Firerat @Cyanogenmod forums, I was able to do it. The ring I was hearing was a SD card notification. Turns out if you really want to you can put whatever sound, song, byte, etc. you want in there you just have to do a little converting.
This is how I did it.
1. Downloaded this: FlicFlac
2. Install, like 5 secs
3. Open FlicFlac, select convert to OGG
4. click on the big box that says select file
5. Pick ur MP3 or whatever audio file it is, and...BAM! u have conversion
Now I used Android Commander to place the file in the directory, /system/media/audio/notifications
You can prolly ADB push that as well.
Reboot and there you have it. New "boot sound" lol. (of course you need to go into notification sounds ((Settings > Sound & Display > Notification Ringtone)) and select your newly created .ogg file for it to work)
Hope you like.

Can't seem to get the audio to work on boot. took the file out of the droid x dump (bootup.ogg) file. Have tried to cp from terminal with ubers instructions to no avail. No matter what i name it i get a cannot create message. Read only system file or something like that. Also tried with file managers. Says cannot move. Is there a remount code or something im missing? Bootanimation.zip worked great. Cp it do /data/local. Looks awesome. Thanks

Hey, I don't know if this will help or not but I kinda cheated I guess. I was banging my head on that same question. Most replies I got were there aren't any sounds with boot screens yadda, yadda. At any rate I just took the .ogg file, that you already have, and placed it in the
/system/media/audio/notifications folder. I used Android Commander to do it to bypass any access, insufficient privilege issues. Once that is done and you reboot you can select the new sound from the system sounds. Have sd notifications on and that's how I got mine to work.
Hope it helps and if I'm way off base, sorry.
hi .. posting my first here at xda,, just wanted to share the theme i created by adding some of those modifications and themes from here at xda.. cannot recall the original authors but credits goes to them... if this post seems not good for them then please delete this respectable admins and moderators..
the theme is all black and have a modified clear dock, battery icon also modified..my rom is untouched... well don't know what to say but please see the pics for reference...
1. you need to have root access and a 3rd party launcher installed like adw or launcher pro just in case you mess touchwiz.
2. create a backup of your twframework-res.apk, framework-res.apk, and TouchWiz30Launcher.apk
3. replace them with the attached files. use adb or terminal emulator to do so...must set as SU and system is mount as RW.
just revert the steps to return your original files. i don't know how to create update.zip file, if anyone like to help then please post as you wish...
tested on JPK, JPC, JP6 and JPM.. i have not tested this to other firmwares.. please do at your own risk.. thanks...

how to apply the theme
some detailed steps for the newbies like me..
requirements:
1. root with busy box 1.17.x
2. terminal emulator [downloadable in the market free]
3. root explorer like astro
4. other launcher like ADW or Launcher Pro - [In case you mess the touchwiz]
5. download the 3 files on my post then save it at root folder of the SDCARD of your SGS
steps :
1. using root explorer.. create a backup of the following on your computer or external card
a. TouchWiz30Launcher.apk = location is system/app/
b. framework-res.apk and twframework-res.apk = location is system/framework/
2. open your terminal emulator
3. type su then hit enter
4. type mount -o remount,rw / system then hit enter.
5. type cp -f sdcard/TouchWiz30Launcher.apk system/app then hit enter
6. type sync then hit enter
7. type reboot then hit enter
8. open your terminal emulator
9. type su then hit enter
10. type mount -o remount,rw / system then hit enter.
11. type cp -f sdcard/framework-res.apk system/framework then hit enter
12. type sync then hit enter
13. type reboot then hit enter
14. open your terminal emulator
15. type su then hit enter
16. type mount -o remount,rw / system then hit enter.
17. type cp -f sdcard/twframework-res.apk system/framework then hit enter
18. type sync then hit enter
19. type reboot then hit enter
separate each file and do sync and reboot to avoid problem such as terminal freezes then eventually system/framework will be corrupted, though you can fix it by reflashing, still best not to do reflash
done...
Is there any chance you can do a version without the tellytubby backs for the icons in the app drawer ?
i will check if that can be deleted.. love the idea
flanflinger...
i guess it is possible.. i need to test first.. i can change them to black to accompany the all black series like the dock background... wait... will use paint now and will try it first

updated TouchWiz30Launcher.apk
Spot on !
Oh this looks awesome, I just have 2 questions.
1. Will this work on JM1? (As I've seen a lot of themes for just JPM, JPK etc etc etc)
2. Which apk contains the edited top bar? Is it possible to just get the rest of the mod without the top bar editing? (I already have an edited one and I like it the way it is.)
Thanks,
Luke.
While at this step:
7. type cp -f sdcard/twframework-res.apk system/framework then hit enter
My phone froze, and I couldn't do anything for too long, so I turned it off and on by removing the battery, now whenever I try to boot it, it gets stuck on Galaxy S GT-I9000 screen...
Any idea how I should recover from all this?
Hi chickie.tobias i like your work.
I wanna know if u can make a framework-res.apk working on JM8 with stock samsung icon and battery icon version z stock gradient.
If u can do this i will appreciate your work. thanks
@chickie.tobias if i give you my framework-res.apk + twframework-res.apk, could you mod this for me? I really like your work bro!
[email protected],
I can try... really depends if you wanted the same look as this...
TawaNicolas,
i believe the only way is to reflash using odin....
lelf,
i can try, i just need your framework-res.apk and this file "battery icon version z stock gradient".

Many thanks bro. I dont need the battery icon mod but the notification bar (the black semi-transparent screen with wifi, bluetooth, gps, etc screen you modded). All i need is that (the dock bar would be a plus too). Ive included 3 files (framework-res.apk, twframework-res.apk, and touchwiz30launcher.apk), but from what i know (but not sure) is you only need twframwork-res.apk to change to semi-transparent black notification screen, as framework-res.apk changes battery icon (which i dont need). Thanks in advance bro... (btw, my eclair firmware is zsjg4)
Here we go, my apk are up. I don't need battery icon mod, in this apk is arledy modded.
Pls make all the same as in the screenshoot the icon bar too. Thx you!!!!!!!!
FW: JM8

[email protected] and lelf,
i sorry cannot do your themes since I am using Froyo... seems like you guys are using Eclair... currently still trying to further check the composition of each icons to modify them...
no worries bro....was really hoping i could get my phone to look like yours.......
No problem mate, thanks you for your time. see for next update for the theme!!
I did sync and reboot when i copy the first file but when i wanna do the same for the second file it said cannot copy..any idea?

Just like everyone says.
I download the zip to my sdcard, used root explorer to copy and paste it to data/local.
Reboot and nothing.
If I paste it in system/media it boots up to a solid black screen and takes forever.

Can I or should I delete these?
Updated: I deleted everything in the data/local folder except the boot animation and it worked.

Hey tried your method of editing off of a previous g2 boot animation to port the older red rage animation for the droid 1 phones but im having some issues. Didn't want to thread jack with my problems so I created a new one. I can't seem to get the red rage boot animation to work correctly, any expertise is welcome!
What are the issues ur having? Plus if u want to attatch it and ill take a look

Ive figured a lot of stuff out as I found a site that explains the desc.txt file. The problem i'm having is that I simply can't load all of the screens before the phone boots lol, there's like 300+ PNG's to load between the two animation folders.
Well u might need to up the frame rate to make it play a little faster
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
Ill download and lood at it tonight or tomorrow and see what I can do
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
Thanks for the advice dude, ive played with the frame rate..like..a lot lol. Atleast i'm pretty sure. The default file should be set at 210p just to load the whole thing on a stock droid 1 at the time.
Ive played with it and trimmed some of the fat off like multiple black screens and such but it's still not enough. Thanks for your time, it really is a cool animation
This is also booting on CM RC2 which boots fast as crap anyways lol.
Yea I noticed the boot times are shorter which is cool but it cuts into our animation lol

hmmm doesnt work for desire z rom
This mod will add the following features:
battery % numbers with step of 1 instead of 5 as by default
battery charging icon displays %
no carrier text
no wastes space around clock (especially noticeable with 24H clock)
CRT off effect (it's an animation when screen gets turned off)
The battery icons were taken from [KITCHEN][12/20] UOT Kitchen (Ultimate Online Theme Kitchen) version 4.0
Created from and tested on Nitro HD P930 (AT&T) with stock rom.
Disclamer: as usual you are the one who is responsible if you brick you phone
The attached files can be flashed with CWM. In my tests I had to install package twice without reboot, otherwise it would either get stuck at LG logo or boot loop.
Make sure create a backup with CWM before installing this!
If you don't want use CWM you can install it manually:
backup /system/framework/framework-res.apk and /system/app/SystemUI.apk
copy framework\framework-res.apk and app\SystemUI.apk from package to sd card on your phone
a) using Root Explorer (DO NOT USE ES FILE EXPLORER OR YOU'LL BRICK YOUR PHONE!) copy framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk from sd card to /system/.
Change permissions to:
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",

}
move /system/framework-res.apk to /system/framework/
and /system/SystemUI.apk to /system/app/
reboot (don't worry about force closes, it's normal)
b) using adb from your computer, make sure phone is set to debug mode.
open cmd window on your computer and type (each line is separate command):
Code:
adb shell
su
mount -oremount,rw /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
cp /sdcard/framework-res.apk /system/
chmod 0644 /system/framework-res.apk
chown root.root /system/framework-res.apk
cp /sdcard/SystemUI.apk /system/
chmod 0644 /system/SystemUI.apk
chown root.root /system/SystemUI.apk
mv /system/framework-res.apk /system/framework/
mv /system/SystemUI.apk /system/app/
mount -oremount,ro /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
exit
exit
adb reboot
It'd be really cool to figure out how to manually cook an apk like itiskonrad did, but with percentage text in 1% increments on top of the blue battery he created.
Awesome! Thanks, [email protected]! Yeah, Malnilion, if it's okay with [email protected], maybe I can take a look at it and try to group it with the blue icons/blue battery/no carrier stuff if he's cool with that?

absolutely!
And by the way, after seeing the vertical icon I noticed that we have so much wasted space between battery icon and clock, never noticed it before, now it bothers me...do you think there is a way remove that space?
Hmm, one question though. If I apply the % to the stock battery, what color do I choose for the number? =) As the battery drains, it has a white background, so I guess no white. So just black?
Quick question for [email protected]! I decompiled the framework-res.apk that you got from UOT Kitchen, and noticed that all the battery icons normally used by the phone (typically stored in framework-res/res/drawable-xhdpi) are missing. The battery icons being used in this theme are being stored in framework-res/res/drawable-hdpi, the folder designated for lower-resolution icons for lower res phones. My question is did you delete the battery icons from xhdpi? Or did UOT kitchen do it automatically?
No, I did not touch the .apk files. Must be UOT kitchen itself...
I wonder when/where these xhdpi images are being used?
In the nitro, xhdpi images include pretty much all the icons, battery, buttons used. All modifications I made were to copies of the icons used in xhdpi. UOT kitchen can't handle xhdpi yet. It's only designed for phones up to qHD, which still use images in hdpi. So when UOT kitchen made the phone use 1% battery increments, the only way it knew how was to direct the framework to use hdpi images of the battery, since it doesn't understand how to modify xhdpi yet. This is fine, but I'm wondering if since it's directing the battery icons to hdpi (these are about half the resolution of the xhdpi icons) if it's also directing ALL the other icons to hdpi. Did you notice any drop in quality (or size) of the other icons unrelated to the battery when installing this apk, in particular the install icon (the arrow with the horizontal green line going through it that pops up when you're downloading/installing an app)? If nothing else changed, then it's good. Then the only things that have been modified are the battery icons, and I can see if I can just swap them out with higher res originals with added percent values....
looks cool, about to do this but re: step 3b
could you clarify what adb is?
thanks in advance!

adb.exe is a command-line tool, part of a set of Android Developer tools. You usually have to download the Android Software Developer's kit to get...But since I know you recently used SuperOneClick to root your phone, you can just grab it from that install.
Be sure whatever directory you use, you copy over all the files inside the ADB directory from SuperOneClick

hey cool, thanks! firing up the superoneclick here in a bit.
You know, now I do see the battery icon is a bit fuzzy, but it really, really barely visible...we are talking about 24% difference, 38x38 vs 50x50
if others are afraid of bricking their phone.
i can confirm that this mod DOES WORK! (i use the 1%_battery_horizontal.zip)

I think it's due to Domination is deodexed rom, this mod is not dedexed.
I don't know if there is a way use dedexed SystemUI.apk on stock rom or not...
I'm in process of testing phone with no CWM installed, so I don't want risk it soft brick
I've attached SystemUI.odex file, try put it in /system/app/ using the manual method above.
If it works, perhaps deodex version could possibly make it work on stock rom as well.
Deodexed SystemUI.apk works fine on non-deodexed stock rom. I'm using it now in order to get the transparent notification bar on my otherwise stock rom.
Did you have to delete SystemUI.odex ?
Yup, deleted the odex after putting in the deodexed apk. Works fine as far as I can tell. Been using it this way for a month or so and no signs of anything weird. And I think since only SystemUI.apk is deodexed, it didn't seem to change my boot time when turning on my phone. Still right around 55 seconds.
How would I add just the CRT effect?
