Is there any way to back up the mail accounts with the stock Mail app so I can just restore them after a wipe instead of having to manually set up them up again? I tried using MyBackup Pro but backing up the mail accounts is not one of the options. I'm also not interested in routing my various email accounts through my gmail account. It's a pain to have to constantly setup all my accounts (9 of them) each time I try some new ROM or something on the phone, not to mention having to manually mark each email as read for every account since the Mail app doesn't have a mark as read option. MyBackup Pro can restore my SMS/MMS, bookmarks, call logs, etc but I would really like something that can do the same for my mail accounts. Is there an app available for this or can I just back up certain files/directories on the phone that I can use to restore? Any help would be appreciated.
Only Gmail accounts.
I think you've just given me a great idea for an app. I also hate to re-enter my e-maiil accounts after a wipe. It's great that Google backups up my wireless connection settings so after a wipe they get restored.

Just had the worst rooting/flashing experience ever.
Tried to update to FroYo and failed so hard it's unbelievable.
After using MyBackup and restoring my calendar (even though I didn't need to because it was a cloud calendar), it doubled up all my appointments and resent invites to everyone on my calendar, even if I didn't originally arrange the meeting and even though they were expired.
Now my calendar and my mail won't even sync anymore. I removed and added my secondary Gmail account and now it only comes up with the option to sync contacts.
The only thing I can think that's different is that I'm rooted and I updated the modem firmware for the previous flash to FroYo. I've since restored from Nandroid backup and gone back to stock.
How do I get my mail back?
Fixed it on my own again.
If anyone runs into the same problem, you need to go into the app manager and clear the cache in the Gmail storage.
This should fix any syncing issues.
I use the paid-version of Titanium Backup for all my apps and SMS Backup for texts, but what's the easiest for contacts and call logs? Google doesn't fully restore my contacts (for some reason there are some missing).
take a look at Call Logs Backup & Restore, it's free and it works like a charm
this author also has free apps to backup SMS and APNs
Are the "missiing" contacts on the desktop computer version of GMail? If so, they should all sync automatically. Are these contacts from Facebook, or SIM contacts? You might just need to sync your phone to Facebook before those contacts come up.
As a final idea, when you create a contact on the phone (at least with Sense ROMs), one of the things you get asked is where you want to store the contact. You get all your gmail accounts, exchange accounts and a Phone option. If you choose Phone, it will not sync with any online service, so that might be the reason why you loose your contacts.
For my case, I only store contacts on the Phone if I know I will delete them in the short term, that way if I change phone or have to wipe I get a free cleanup, but for contacts that I want to keep I always put them on some online account.

i use a couple different back ups. Google backs things up, titanium back up, then I'm using sms back up and restore pro. I haven't lost a message or contact yet flashed about 8-9 times in a week since i started rooting.
1: I've been running an ICS theme on my epic 4g touch for a little while and I'm looking into installing a ROM to improve speed and battery life. I've been struggling to choose between the most current version of Blazer, or Unnamed. They seem relatively similar apart from the fact that if I get Unnamed I'll have to flash an ICS theme over it, but I'd like opinions from everyone.
2: I understand for both of those ROMs you must wipe your phone. I have no issue with wiping apps as they can be reinstalled, but I need my contacts. I don't have an SD card and would prefer to not have to buy one, so is there any method to backing up my contacts that I could retrieve them post flashing?
Thanks in advance
1. I don't have either of those so can't help with that.
2. if you have a Gmail account set up you can back up contacts. its in accounts and sync under settings. just be sure to go online into your Gmail account to check. I thought I was backed up before and wasn't.

I've tried syncing the contacts to gmail before but when I checked the account, none of my contacts were there.
ya I believe I fixed it by going to accounts and sync. then clicked on the google account. unchecked all. then checked only contacts and hit sync now. if that doesn't work try removing account and then add it again. sorry I don't know of any third party way to backup the contacts.
The trick is to get all of your email contacts into Gmail on your PC even if you have to manually enter each one. Then they will sync automatically to your phone and you won't have to back anything up. If you use Outlook on your computer, I think there's a way to export your contacts into gmail with a csv file. I couldn't tell you how to do it but you should be able to find out by searching in Google forums. I did mine all manually when I first started using android and I've never had to back up anything. Google does it for me. I know this will sound really strange, but to get them all to sync to Gmail and into my phone contacts list, I had to enter a fake email address for the contacts I only had a phone number for. Now I can flash and wipe my phone all I want and all my email and phone contacts sync again as soon as my phone connects to Google servers. I have them stored on my sd card, too, but I never need to restore them from it. Make sure you have two way sync turned on in your Gmail account on your computer. If you want gmail to pull in all of your other email accounts such as Comcast or hotmail, you can set that up on your computer too in Gmail account settings. I get all my mail in Gmail now and don't even use the other email client on my phone.
When you create a contact it will give you 2 options. 1 to backup internal 2 to backup to Google. It seems you selected internal so you need to go to contacts and go through the menus until you switch all contacts to Google then do your sync through settings. Best of luck if your still having issues do a titanium backup.. but like the poster said above as long as you save your contacts to Google in the future it makes going from rom to rom a breeze

Sweet, thanks everyone. I've got my contacts onto Gmail. Anyone have opinions regarding Unnamed vs. Blazer?
There's also a way to backup manually your contact list. In contacts program hit menu then export. It saves the file as 00001.icf in the root of your sd card. After you export, use a file manager to go and make sure the file is there before proceeding. You could then copy it to your computer or email it as an attachment to yourself.
Or it could be .vcf I forgot
I've tried restoring Accounts (only restores Exchange ActiveSync mail accounts) and Email (does basically nothing).
I don't want to restore every system app because of paranoia. So, what app do I restore to get my email accounts back? There has to be SOME app, as restoring all apps restores email accounts.
I know I can brute force it and try every app, I just want to know if someone already knows.
I'm hoping this is possible.
So on my personal phone I always use the gmail App for my accounts.
I just recently started working for a company that doesn't issue cell phones, but will set up your exchange account on your personal phone, so i've gone and done that.
Everything works fine, accept the Exchange account is accessed through the Stock Email app, and it is also synching my 2 gmail accounts. Is it possible to remove the gmail accounts from the Stock email app? I've gone into the app's settings and I can't see anything to remove them. I can see the option to stop the sync, but that does me no good for whats already been synced.
Any tips?
