I know it was just released yesterday but is there a 2.3 rom out there for the evo? Sorry if this was posted in the wrong section or if it's already been answered.
Swyped from my supersonic
no, no there isnt
There is. It doesn't work really so it's kind of useless right now.

No buttons ftw! LOL
Ok so 2.3 is called gingerbread??
Can someone tell me what is so good about 2.3 and what it has or does that 2.2 does not/does not do.
Also will the EVO ever get it..
http://www.cnet.com/8301-19736_1-20022517-251.html
As for whether or not the Evo will get it, that is not confirmed yet. Although I'm sure Sprint might push for it. They didn't even knock out the Epic 4G's Froyo completely yet (they are close I think).
If the Evo does get it, I hope that Sprint doesn't take their sweet ass time pushing it out.

The buttons are working in build 4. The only things I have tested that aren't really working are wifi and bluetooth and, the real killer, the phone speakers.

Yeah, but hopefully they push it out fast. Kind of like what happened with Froyo when it first was released. Devs made it work and right when it was getting polished, they did the official release lol. -.-
But obviously we wont be installing it from sprint OTA and lose root, i would imagine we will be waiting till a dev releases a custom version...

Of course. But I meant that once the OTA is out its much easier for DEVs to use that as a base to punch out their ROMs. Leaked or open sourced versions are good practice to mess around with but usually pretty bugged. But working with an OTA as a base would be better. Hurry Sprint! Gingerbread go go! I wonder if the new ASOP will be better than Sense. lol

I've only seen the Gingerbread keyboard cooked into ROMs so far, can't wait for the full release
I really just posted that for anyone new to rooting that may not realize that the OTA would remove root...I can't wait to see it!!

Nice. Looks like someone just cooked a rom from the CM repo. They have a gingerbread branch, but work to merge the froyo tree into the gingerbread one is a largely manual process, and still much closer to the beginning than the end.
Don't let this get anyone's hopes up. CM7 is likely still pretty far away.

Yup, there should be some major steps made once Google releases the Nexus One 2.3 drivers. Then we'd have to wait for HTC to release (if it ever does) 2.3 drivers for other stuff we might need (like the cameras) or else we'd just get some hacked up alternatives, if that.
we need an HTC device with gingerbread... that would make things a lot easier.
Its gonna take maybe a month. They gotta get all the froyo stuff merged over. Then you'll start to see nightlys. I don't think anything from the nexus s is going to help us. Cyan got the cams working real fast for froyo by writing code himself.

The nightly builds are very stable though. The only bugs I've seen are the compass, but nav works when you're driving. Headset mics not working, and data arrows don't show.
None of these issues are really a deal breaker for me. Oh, and the call volume is low, which is fixed by flashing a kernal like tiamat. I'm actually using JDKernal nightly build from Rootzwiki.com,
The only issue I have with the nightly builds is the fact that they are nightly, so majority of the updates are just bugfixes for bugs that I probably have not even personally seen in the last 10 builds. So it's kind of a hassle at this point to stay up to date.
So don't stay up to date I watch the changelog and if nothing big is changed or added I don't bother. If I get bored before something interesting is added I try out a different rom. I have a few backups on my sd I can restore whenever I feel the need to change.

In most cases this is right but doesn't necessarily need to happen. Look at the g2x..... They will most likely never get ics from lg and cm arcee compiled a just about stable ics rom that is beautiful and works great. And thats with tegra being closed source to so drivers had to be a pain also. So we could see nightlys soon who knows we have no clue they could come out this week for all we know
I am sitting with a Skyrocket CM7 rom that isn't quite finished and isn't ever going to be finished just because I can't stand anything but...
CM9 will come...its only a matter of time, many talented people are working on ICS.

Yeah, I doubt that CM7 will ever be released in more than alpha. The CM team decided to go straight to CM9 with this device which means they will not do CM7 and it doesnt seem like anyone outside of CM team would bother since nobody has up til now and I am pretty sure the chances of a proper CM7 build will only go down when CM9 is released. All you can do is hold tight.
Ya this was pretty cruel. Thought it was gonna say it was up and running ugh.

Still don't think they have a cm9 bud all I see is 7.2 for vivow
No mention of the Incredible 2, so we might still be stuck with aero's port, not that there is anything wrong with that.... :/

No, that was for the latest RC3 of CM 7.2. Official CM7 7.2 is already out though so even that is out-dated. There haven't been any official CM9 builds for the Incredible 2 yet.
Page Cannot Be Found
EDIT - Whoops! Forum lag there...
So CM9 RC1 has not been released for the Inc2 yet then? Why even post this in the Inc2 forums then?
I "findthisfunny".

Honestly where have you guys been, yea an RC was released but certainly not for the Inc2. There isn't going to be any builds from the CM team until HTC releases a kernel and maybe even an official ROM (months away). Hopefully the IncS will get something sooner. In the meantime, Aeroevan is doing great work with unofficial builds.

Well it could like with the CM7.2 build for the Inc2, it also took at least a day after the announcement for the build to be released for the phone.
It seems CM announces their builds before or while they are actually still compiling rather than when they are done, so maybe we still be hopeful.
On github, I don't see an ics branch on the vivow device tree, so I don't know how they will build it.

Sorry for getting your hope up everyone,
I was hopeful and clamoring for an official CM9 too. The link in the op was a legit post from the CM moderator. But it looks like a cookie cutter post, probably for all the devices. Looks like we don't have a RC1 for VIVOW yet. FYI here is CM announcement in their blog.
