sry bout that thanks for the link
not a problem
for those that dont want to read the thread, or do the adb work..
the easiest way to see what screen you have is by using the power control widget, and pressing the brightness button.
If your screen fades between brightness, you have Novatek. If the screen brightness changes instantly, its Epson.

Just change the brightness using the power control widget.
brightness change instantly = epson
brightness change gradually = novatec
like you mean it spits out a bunch of stuff? If so, you should be looking for something that says either epson or novatech in that screen of stuff
ok thanks i think i got epson
hey i am wondering what screen i have the novatec or epson cant find how to tell any where can someone please help
Quick and simple way is to add the Power Control Widget on your homescreen.
Then, press the Brightness level widget on the Power Control Widget. If the transition is instant, then it is Epson; if the transition fades to the next level, then it is Novatek.
ok thanks abunch
Can someone please tell me how I can tell which type of touch panel I have
It says it in the bootloader menu at the top.
We're comin from a pure power source.
So did you find it?
We're comin from a pure power source.
Also there is some command you can type into terminal emulator to tell if you have a novatec or Epson. I don't remember what it is tho...

Use the brightness widget and place it on your home screen
click it - if your brightness fades slowly (where you can see the transition) you have a novatec
if it jumps meaning when you click the button its instantly brighter or darker you have an epson

Hi
I was wondering if there was an app with which i can turn off the backlight like when u click on clock app and put on desk clock mode by tapping or few secs before the screen goes off ??
is there way to toggle that ?
What exactly do you want to do? turn down brightness when on desk clock? that is already done automatically as far as i can tell.
AMOLED screens don't have a backlight. Each pixel has it's own light source. That's why the blacks are so black, the screen is actually off in black areas.

The clock just makes everything darker. The GN doesn't have a backlight anyway, as it's a (super) amoled screen.

AMOLED/OLED screens also burn when left on the same image for a long period, would not recommend using as a desk clock as stated in OP, you will end up with burnt images where your buttons are, and any other static part of screen

The are a few brightness toggle widgets available, android comes with one built-in, power control allows customization of the brightness level so that you can go say from Max brightness to min brightness in one tap. Rom Control in the Android Open Kang Project allows for adjusting the brightness, order, and number of navigation bar buttons independent of the overall screen brightness.
Has anyone found an option to reduce the brightness on the capacitive back lit task manager and back keys, using these in the dark is impossible, it would be useful to have them lit all the time but very dimly so they could just be seen.
hmm, I guess not... think this would be really useful.

I agree, that would be a great feature.
