I have installed netfront 3.2 and decided that I wont need it any more. the problem is that now, when I try to open any link (through text message for example) it is not autmoatically opening PIE, instead i am recieving this message
"There is no application associated with "http XXXXXXX" Run the application first, then open this file from within the application"
Any idea how to solve it?
or how to add the regisrty to link this to PIE?
Hi mhg,
Re install NetFront 3.2...then go to Browser settings in Netfront, look for an option wherein it asks for "set as default browser" Untick that option and then remove the Net Front...
Thanks for the reply
Already tried that it did not work
Any Body Please
Hi!
I have been trying to solve this problem for a couple weeks now, to no avail.
I have searched google and this forum and couldn't find a working solution. Basically my search button will not fire up Google Search. If I long press it, it gives me the option to fire up Voice Search or GO SMS Pro.
What I have tried:
-Installed Google Search from market, I have the APK in these two locations:
/data/app/com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox-1.apk
/system/app/GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk
-Booted into recovery and tested the button (# 217), the button is working
-Installed ButtonRemapper.apk, it shows that it is assigned to SEARCH, I remapped it to camera before and that worked, but I really want the search button
-Factory reset my phone (this made the search button work in other apps, whereas it didn't before the factory reset)
-Checked /system/usr/keylayout both bravo-keypad.kl and qwerty.kl have button 217 listed as "key 217 SEARCH WAKE_DROPPED"
What I'm running:
dGB rom and S-OFF AlphaRev
Android 2.3.5
Please let me know if you need any more information. I would prefer not to ref lash. It seems that not many people who installed dGB have this problem, so I have no clue what I did wrong.
EDIT: Okay, FINAAAALLy got it working. The problem was I had GoogleQuickSearchBox installed twice under /system/apps. One named "QuickSearchBox.apk". Deleted that and rebooted, it was fine.
Same problem, different fix
I didn't have two applications for Google Search as OP did - only the one from the play store. So I tried uninstalling Google Search and then rebooted and for some odd reason that fixed the problem. Now when I press the search button, Google Search opens (which doesn't make sense since I uninstalled it, but as far as I'm concerned everything is working now.)
I got my Note 2 today and loving it but I'm having trouble setting up my google voice. After installing and re-installing the voice app during set up I get an error message saying "Forwarding number change failed". I have also tried to do it manually by typing in *004*(11 digit #)# and the system gives me an error message saying "emergency calls only". I've tried to re-setup my number through google's web site with no success. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!!
ATT
4.1.1
I followed the instructions here and it works fine now (post 3 from link I'm not allowed to post). I didn't get the forwarding number change failed message.
1. Go to Google voice on a browser (can't post link)
(If you don't already have a phone set up on the website, set one up)
2. Press on "Show advanced settings"
3. Next to "Forwarding Options", press "Activate"
4. Follow the instructions
(Enter *004*Yourgooglevoicenumber# into the dialer and enter)
5. If you get the confirmation, tada! When you go into the Google voice app, it'll automatically go past the setup due to it detecting it already being set up. Now you are ready to start receiving your voicemails via Google voice.
This message should be in the "Jedi Invasion Rom" section but I don't have enough posts to post there. Hopefully someone here can help me out. I recently installed the jedi invasion rom which doesn't include s voice but i miss a couple of the features of s voice like being able to take a picture with a voice command and turning your alarm off with a voice command. Anyway, i'm trying to reinstall s voice and have tried a couple different files downloaded from different areas here like the one from here which i'm not allowed to post their urls yet.
I understand these to be flashable zip files so i boot into recovery and flash from there. Everything seems to go without any errors and i get success message but when i boot up the phone there is no s voice in the app drawer. I do see it in titanium pro but can't figure out how to launch from there. It says it resides in /system/app/com.vlingo.midas.apk
When i click on the apk it asks to install but i still can't access s voice anywhere.
Anyone?
thx
Fixed
I figured it out. The fix for me was to locate the app in Titanium Backup Pro and click on it. Then go to Special features and "open system details". This opens the app info and i was able to enable s voice. whoo hoo!
This guide is to meant to attempt to save valuable time and frustration from anyone who needs google's contact sync.
Please keep all discussions polite.
So I need google apps on a daily basis and i tried to set up google on the chinese ROM .
And of course there is no Google contacts app so you need to put it in yourself.
I have looked at several guides and threads from XDA and MIUI Forum but they didn't seem to touch the critical steps for getting the contacts to sync with google.
After 2 days of trying...literally.., i figured out how to set the contact sync up reliably, not "reboot it and it will work after the reboot" sorta result.
If the following steps don't work for you, please let me know...I have tried this on 2 MIX 3's and they all worked after first attempt.
1, Enable google play services in Settings app -> system apps -> google play services
2, Download the Google play store from Apk Mirror:
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/googl...8-23-all-0-pr-224256688-android-apk-download/
and the google contacts sync adapter:
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/googl.../google-contacts-sync-9-android-apk-download/
And install them.
3, Open google play store, log in, and install Google contacts from the play store.
4, Give permissions to google contacts and contact sync adapter
*** Above steps are common to the threads i have read, and below are the key points ***
5, Enable on developer options by goto Settings->my phone(or something like that) -> full specs and tap MIUI version 7 times.
6, Go to settings -> additional settings -> developer options , scroll to the very bottom (last item) and disable "MIUI optimizations". Will explain why in later steps.
7, Download an "app permission setting" app such as (but not limited to) this one:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fdd2hdd.AppPermissionInfo
8, Open the permission settings app and find Google contacts and Google contact sync adapter apps and grant all their required permission.
Once you are here you should notice that, the permission GUI opened from this permission app is different. The GUI here is more AOSP style, or vanilla android style, and this is what we need. The permission GUI from MIUI layer doesn't allow you to set this up.
******* End of the key steps************
9, Now if you go to settings->accounts->Google, you should see "contacts" in the sync options and it should work. If not, well, reboot lol, i think it should appear.
If this works for you, a "Thanks" button press is very much appreciated.

Could just install Google installer v3 APK, let it install and go to contacts permission in settings and tick them all, job done

Chinese ROM doesn't have it installed so no need to uninstall it. Just run Google installer v3, set contacts permission and it works fine.

If I remember it does. That however may be the dev rom as I only set up the stock room once while I set up the dev rom multiple times. Dev rom install of contacts sync will fail.
Install Google installer v3 APK, let it install and go to contacts permission in settings and tick them all, job done - this has helped. Thank you!
not sure what the problem is, followed this guide to a T and still can't get contacts to show up in my google account to sync it. everything else like Gmail works no problem. i have every permission checked. i've uninstalled and reinstalled. i have the AOSP like sliders to turn things on after going to developer settings.
for some reason instead of contacts i get a people details sync but nothing for contacts will show up. so frustrating.
ok i wiped data and started from scratch and unfortunately same results. ****ing hell this never happened with original mi mix. i guess i'm stuck waiting for the 72 hours to be able to unlock unless anyone has other ideas.
EDIT - ------ FINALLY I got this working. the key is you have to downgrade the calendar sync app to 8.1 - it would not work with 9.0 for me for some reason. once i did this and followed the rest of your instructions it finally worked for me
Worked excellent in Mi 11 Pro! at 2022, I only wonder about what I'm losing by disbling the optimizations, but at the beginning it seems not a big deal... thanks!
