Saw GPS tether in the app store, didn't get a chance to look at it though. Maybe that is what you are looking for?

Game controller

Has anybody found any kind of game controller that will pair with the captivate?
I've tried all the wiimote apps in the market, and the only one that seems to do anything is simplewiicontroller. I can get my phone to recognize it, but every time I try to pair, it asks for a pin number. At this point any controller at all would be awesome.

also for the pin did you try 1111 or 9999 . those are standard bt pins for no input devices, such as headsets

Yeah tried 0000, 1111, 1234, 9999, 4321, abcd. Nothing works, always says incorrect pin. I thought the reason why you couldn't use the wiimote with samsung, is because the cappy b/t couldn't detect the older versions of bluetooth. But mine clearly picks it up.

i havent heard on anyone getting a wii mote to work on a galaxy s. something withthe bluetooth stack and no source code. notice the nexus s has bluetooth 2.1 and the galaxy s has bluetooth 3.0. people have compiled in different bluetooth stacks but come back to the samsung one because of "problems" im not sure what the problems are but no custom roms have the other bluetooth stacks that i know of.
let us know if you get that app working though. it would be really cool.
now we just need to figure out how to get the native resolution out of the captivate to a tv other than dlna. composite video just wont cut it on todays bigger panels and the picture is distorted because you are pushing more res than the cable can handle. if we can get something out via usb even if we need an external converter of some kind like in a dock or something this phone would be way better.
now i fear the infuse will divert samsung from focussing on accessories for this phone.

Apparently the CM6 BT stack works with the wiimote.
Yeah I'm not rooted and have no real intention of doing that. I'm already on ofw froyo, and still have about 6 months of warranty remaining.

That keyboard is nice, but hella expensive. Locally they go for around 150$, but I did find one for 32$. It's a unitek, and has bluetooth 2.0, so it should work.

you do realize you can un-root as easy as you can root right?
im just saying
the freaking thing doesnt even let you install third party apps out of the box
I'm not going to root phone, and waste my time trying to find a stable/glitch free rom. Done it before, each one has it's perks and flaws, all what your willing to live with.
I have no problem installing 3rd party apps, I'm not sure what you're referring to with this.
All that I'm looking for is a wireless controller, as it is I can already play video games on a tv, it's just wired, and you can't feel where the buttons are.

Wired Tether in Froyo

I'm thinking about moving back up to 2.2 from 2.1 but I want to use Wired Tether instead of Wifi Tether. Are there any Froyo roms that have this included?
no, its a Kernel locked feature which wont be able to be used until we get official 2.2 source
I use wireless tehter app on mine. That way I don't get the extra charge on my bill. Its called wireless tether but u have to have it plugged in to computer to tether the wireless signal. Atleast I seem to have to. Works great. U do have to be rooted though. You can also try pdaNET if ur not rooted. Both can be found threw a google search or on the android markt.

That is misinformation. Wired Tether is a native builtin feature of Froyo that WORKS as is on DK28 build. I'm using it now as I am typing this response.
Just curious why do you want wired over wireless?

So If I move back over to Truly Epic, I can just plug in and use the wired tethering? I tried using wireless tethering and it worked great, but the wired tether just moves so much faster for me

It's not really a "kernel locked" feature, DI18 contains the appropriate RNDIS driver code. The problem is that bugs in the USB gadget driver prevents it from being activated. Hence why it's supported in (some) custom kernels.

Good to hear. I haven't bothered with the Froyo leaks since I need kernel sources for other reasons, but it wasn't clear if Samsung fixed the RNDIS bugs.
Wired tether is convenient to have
Such as for me since I ont have a wifi router for my pc
Id love to have a way for wired tether in froyo :/

I never used wired tether before.I didn't know it was faster. I assumed but I thought it was just a little difference.

The difference between wired and wireless is when using wired u move or copy files between your phone and pc in same time you are tethering even you can move or copy files via wireless I found this way is more convenient for me.

[Q] Macbook Pro and DESIRE HD (tethering?)

Hi you all.
I tried to search my question on forums but I got Wifi and Bluetooth info only.
I have got a Macbook pro, bought on december 2010.
I have a Desire HD with RS GingerX 2.8 and sense 2.1.
I would like to share the DHD internet connection with the macbook pro via USB.
Is it possible? Can anyone help me?
I have just shared the Wifi connection with hotspot wifi on my DHD and it works perfect.
USB seems to be impossible to use. Why?
Help me and a cold beer will be shipped to your home
@ Mods: Please don't ban me for this question because I have no idea where find the answer...
Not too familiar with the custom ROM you are using but am on stock rom and using the USB tethering option from "connect to PC" in settings, it works fine for me on my Macbook. However what is the problem, if you can make it work via wifi I think its rather better without any annoying cables and all.

now USB internet tethering on macbook works perfectly.

[Q] htc evo bluetooth tether

is it possible to use an EVO on my computer as Bluetooth, like the WiFi tether but Bluetooth?
E.G: EVO usb to windows 7 64-bit (what I am using) and emulate a tether Bluetooth. I have a pair of B.T headphones and want to use them on my computer but don't have a B.T usb or internal B.T capability's.
Sry for the longness of this question just trying to get as much info in here as possible.
P.S using myn's Warm TwoPointTwo (RLS) 5 Supersonic (as sense rom)
and Cyanogen-mod 7.0.3.1 with Nightlies 65 (for my bread and butter).
Have you tried using the wireless tether app, it allows you to use blue tooth tethering.

Well, I believe the printer should be able to find the wifi from the tether using wifi, I don't personally know if it'll detect it using blue tooth.

what are our wireless tethering options since no root is available?

Thanks
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
unless you're paying for it, not applicable until we get root.
hang in there, we'll get it
You could use a no-root tether that requires drivers like EasyTether, which is incidentally on sale at Amazon today for 4.99:
http://www.amazon.com/Mobile-Stream-EasyTether/dp/B004JJR2K4
I'm just planning on waiting for root, though.
