Test 4g radio. - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Test 4g radio. Test 4g radio. I hear of problems with peoples 4g radio after rooting. I don't live in an area to know if mine works or not. Is their some way to find out?

Go to an area with 4g.

I wonder why I never thought of that... Any other ways to check?

What do you mean solid 4g? Does it connect to 4g or is it just your signal stays gray?

4G signal

What is it about my epic that every time I turn on the 4G and turn my phone sideways I lose 4G connection. What the hell! Everytime. Does anyone else have that problem?

I would get rid of that modem. Try EE03 or the EH17 modem.

i get a similar issue. anytime i move my phone more than a couple feet, 4g drops, and has a hell of a time reconnecting (even one side of my bed to the other and it drops 90% of the time.) So, it's mostly a coverage issue, but it also seems to be a bit of a hardware/software failing.
Do that thing to make 4G connect at -110dbm instead of the factory setting of -89dbm. It is the How to get better 4G signal" thread.

Wimax towers?

Are wimax towers still being implemented?

id say possibly a few random towers but overall.. if you dont already have wimax.. you wont see it. cross your fingers and hope LTE makes its way to you.

4g toggle for 4g only

Just wondering. If this is doable... i looked for somthing cant find it i feel like it would fix the problem with 4g drops... just an idea

Internet speeds jumping

So I'm watching my phone jump back and forth from h+ to 3g and I'm wondering why it might be doin this? Any ideas

See the same thing, pretty confused.
Speed tests show 3Mbps down and 1+-Mbps Up
but it usually sticks with h+ anytime i do something
Well I was in a major city yesterday and they have 4g but it was jumpin when I was sitting still in the middle of town

With the newer ROMs the phone knows when there isn't a need for 4G or H+. It drops down to 3G to save data and battery. As soon as there is a need for higher data speeds the phone automatically adjusts to meet the demand. Trust me you are getting your 4G when you need it.
