I can video chat with another handheld on QIK or FRING, but i haven't figured out how to do a video chat with a person who only has a laptop with camera.
Is this possible, are there instructions on what to do .?
You can use skype with fring.

I think we now have to wait for Skype to release they're own video apps. AFAIK this was possible via Fring but then Skype had that whole fit over it & made Fring remove the service.
So at the moment, i think we just have to sit back & wait.

you might be able to use fring to go between them, yes it has no skype but if i'm not mistaken you can still use fring video chat on both devices

Wow...I didn't even realize that Fring didn't have skype anymore...I have no use for this app now...goodbye!
They got overloaded by all the evo and iphone users. Skype was hurting on their end as well.
As far as video chat goes, I was hoping to use my Gmail account to initiate a video call/chat with a friend of mine using her Gmail also via Fring. Come to find out...Fring doesn't support this either!
One of the main reasons that people like me got the evo, was for the video chat. Now that Fring no longer uses Skype, that front cam hasn't been touched for a long time.
Is there any other way to video chat with people on the computer? My girlfriend doesn't have a smartphone that can use fring. I was hoping maybe we could use Yahoo or MSN but i can't find one that uses web chat...any help?
You could use Sipdroid if you both have SIP accounts, and the one on her end supports video chat.
(SIP is an open framework, more like email; it's not a closed network like AIM, YIM, WLM, etc.)
Skype is in beta, I really hope they include video chat eventually =/
Was really hoping to be able to do this as well.
Just a quick question, as skype is not available for the Galaxy S, can anyone recommend an alternative app?
I still want to use my skype account, and the credit on that to make calls, mainly to france.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Nimbuzz can use skype accounts (as well as a lot of others...)
I suggest to give it a try

Thanks.
It seems like the best option, but can I make skype-out calls with it using my skype credit?
you can also use Fring which supports Video Calling over IP
I'm still looking for one that will allow me to chat via video with pc skype users.
Thanks guys. I'll give these a try tomorrow.
Why can't Skype just make a proper app for Skypeout, eh
There was a android version out, but limited to some mobiles, providers and just USA i think..
Dunno why no skype app is available for us..
Skype blocked Fring.
Nimbuzz works on SGS and supports Skype out... Few bugs but ok to use.
And that's it, nothing else for skype available at the moment
I use Nimbuzz but like others mentioned it is pretty buggy.
Searching will find 'com.skype.android.lite.apk'
Haven't tried it, but it is available.
so Apple's Facetime is somewhat unique since we can't do Video calling over IP on the SGS
Thanks guys. Now using Nimbuzz, found my Skype credit, now testing over the weekend
Edit: Crap, the calls go through, ring, but when the person on the other end picks up, there is silence at both ends. Any ideas?
We can't do video chat using Google Chat? I'm surprised!
for moment whe can use iMovicha ... this program allow video chat also with client pc or with other phone with the same program instaled .. but , whe miss fring or some version skype for android
I wonder when someone creates a facetime compatible app (either on PC or android or any other device).
Would be great..
And why skype isnt able to make a new androidversion is also a good question..
Not sure if this question has been asked yet. I just recently purchased a Kinect. The Kinect Video uses msn messenger to chat with video. Is there any way or any app on the EVO that would allow for chatting between the two devices?
Hello.
I don't see the qik t-mobile video chat in the note 2. It was pre-installed when I was using the S2.
what video chat app are you guys using?
skype... you can video chat while typing a message to the other person... plus they don't have to be on their phones...

Mostly everyone I speak to is on G+ so we can hangout or video chat on there, but Skype is a good alternative. Especially since the other person doesn't have to be on their phone.
thanks for all the replies,
If the other person is on t-mobile, and I use skype to video chat his cell phone. Is the video chat going to be free?

Skype to skype is always free, data will be used (or wifi), but no minutes from plan.
