So,
I have a (nearly) totally stock EVO. I think i installed the first OTA Update.
Baseband Version: 1.39.00.05.31
Software Number: 1.32.651.6
If i use the simpleroot .1 i will have a totally rooted phone with NAND unlocked?
I will then need to flash a recovery onto the phone? (like this:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=705026 or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=702214)
and then flash a custom rom? (like any of the "[rom] Name X" files in the android development thread
Correct?

Hi guys,
(I've searched through the forums loads BTW - but may have missed something. So just point me in the right direction - thanks)
I recently got myself the Desire HD and Rooted with VISIONary, I then used the scripts at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=835746 to obtain S-OFF Successfully. At this point I installed ROM Manager and flashed ClockworkMod to the recovery, and then tried out a few of the chef's specials here. Everything was backed up after Root and S-OFF as I needed CWM in the recovery to perform the backup.
1) The question is how do I restore my DHD to factory state?
I know I can revert the root with VISIONary in-app, so my main concern is getting the original recovery image back on to the phone and applying S-ON.
I think I can flash using an RUU to restore the recovery image - but I don't want to choose the wrong one to invalidate any warranty and it's not clear if this restore S-ON. My operator is Orange UK, and I found some RUUs on a thread that linked to http://xdafil.es/?path=DesireHD
I downloaded: RUU_Ace_Orange_UK_1.40.61.2_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.26_M_release_157531_signed
Here are the necessaries:
Rom Manager 3.0.0.1
ClockWorkMod Recovery: 2.5.1.3
Baseband V.
12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M
Kernel
2.6.32.21-gf3f553d
Build #
1.32.405.6 CL278359 release-keys
Software #
1.32.405.6
The RUU I downloaded seems to have the same radio, but higher build/software number, although mine says ...'eU' rather than just 'e.'
2) How is it possible that's a later build number when there were no updates available before I rooted/S-OFFd etc?
3) Will I still receive OTAs if I flash this?
Thanks in advance guys!
Rob
Go to the radio thread in my sig, do Radio S-OFF (yes, S-OFF), and then follow the instructions to go back to stock.
Hey
First of, let me apologize for making this thread, as im sure theres alot of them around. but i have not been able to find anything that helps me :/
Anyways, i am the happy owner of a HTC Desire.
And i have decided to try and root it, so i can get some costum roms on it (Been looking at CleanDHD and Oxygen Rom for starters
But before i do ANYTHING to my phone, i want to make a complete backup of it.
So that i can go back to the exact state that it was in before i tampered with it in any way.
What is the easiest (and best ) way to this ?
Thanks for your time
Without rooting you can't backup the ROM, so long as you can get the RUU for your phone you can always go back to stock. Post up your software version and we'll see if there's an RUU for it
Android Version 2.2
Basebandversion 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27
Coresystem (name loosely translated from danish ) 2.6.32.15-gf5a401c [email protected] #1
Version number 2.29.405.5 CL293415 Release Keys
Software number 2.29.405.5
So your saying, that to take a backup of my system, i have to root it?
What if i want to remove the root acces then? go all the way back to scratch?

you need root to perform a nandroid backup. 1st find your RUU file. this will allow you to return to stock no root in the future if u want too. then root your device. after your rooted, you can use clockwork recovery to make a nandroid backup. then u can go on your way trying custom roms. if u want stock again, use your nandroid and youll b at a rooted stock htc rom. if u want to remove your root, use the RUU file and it will wipe your phone completely and flash your stock rom without root
You should be able to find your carrier specific ruu here in case you ever need it.

Myself, I rooted using unrevoked 3.2.1, installed rom manager and clockwork mod recovery, then took my nandroid backup via recovery - at this point being at a rooted stock rom.
Never looked back! And never used the backup either... ;0)
Thanks guys That made everything a lot clearer
Now the fun begins
I am in need if some help. My EVO is rooted with unrevoked (not sure what OLDER version) it also has MikFroyo v4.2 Baseband version 1.39.00.05.31 Kernel 2.6.32.17 - gee557fd
htc-kernel (at) and 18-2 # 15 Software Number 3.70.651.1
I was wanting to put the newest versions of Unrevoked and MikFroyo, tried running the Unrevoked v3.32 and it said unsupported radio version. Is there any way to fix this problem since the phone still has root? I bought the phone and it came with this on it already. It also has a custom boot screen I would like to change or put back to stock. thanks
pleeeeeeeeeeese?
You don't need to run unrevoked again if you're already rooted. Just backup, wipe, and flash the rom
We're comin from a pure power source.
I have a rooted (S-On) wildfire S with CWM recovery installed. It is currently running on stock Rom 2.3.3 and I want to upgrade it to 2.3.5 OTA....
Phone is NOT network dependent or network locked..
Will OTA upgrading damage my phone ???

Sadly, no. Once it's rooted upgrades become your own responsibility. If you're lucky, you could find a flashable file of the stock update online somewhere, but I'd just Flash the WildChild ROM if I was you, for a few reasons.
1. Based on Stock, all the features you want are there. Nothing is missing or broken.
2. It is based on Android 2.3.5 so flashing it will upgrade your Android version.
3. It's themed and arguably more attractive than Stock Sense 2.1 :good:

What you have to do is Simple. You need to give up root for like an hour. Backup all your apps, messages, etc.
Check the upgrade to 2.3.5 link in my signature. Follow the method in my tutorial and you'll have 2.3.5, unlockable and rootable.
For the RUU part, choose the latest one depending on your region, not necessarily the one I've linked.
Good luck.
Purposely burnt from my Epic Toastfire S powered by Premium Tomaytos.
I have to sent my phone to HTC (doesn't read sim card) So I have to unroot my phone.
Before I flashed an other ROM I made a Nandroid backup. So to unroot I used this tutorial:
http://theunlockr.com/2014/06/08/how-to-unroot-the-htc-one-m8-video/
I locked the boot loader with this tutorial.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708571
So I'm close to stock. S-ON, Bootloader is locked (instead of re-locked), stock ROM from NANdroid backup.
But Kernel version still says:
3.4.0-g16cd293
[email protected]#1
SMP PREEMPT
So I think I have to fix this. But I'm stuck at this one.
cid: VODAPE17
Android Version: 4.4.2
HTC Sense: 6.0
Softwarenumber: 1.54.161.10
HTC SDK API: 6.17
Smallband: 1.15.2133156.UA13G_20.18m.4096.04L
Build: 1.54.161.10 CL325784 release-keys
This has got nothing to do with development, not even close. I suppose you've just posted the topic by accident here?
I think you just need to lose root?
Unroot your device and flash the stock recovery.

You're right. I created a new post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/unroot-stock-kernel-t2911271
Maybe a mod can close or remove this one?
