Hi
I cant find any documentation on if google maps for android actually works with compass mode?
Do you mean that the 2D map view should rotate according to your position?
As far as I know the compass only works in StreetView mode (and then of course in Google Goggles app).
Although I might be entirely wrong
yes compass mode works but the map doesnt rotate. the blue triangle rotates.
oww... that sucks a bit doesnt it? Should be fairly easy to make the map rotate... but its better than nothing i guess. On my blackstone I have to move 10 meter in quick pace to get a gps-bearing... quite anoying when your on foot

Im not sure where the settings for gyrator controled events are stored, but if there is such a location could you help share your settings so we can all get a better grip of this great app?
I've tried adding some Events myself, but ive not been very successful.
Could someone help me get Gyrator to do some of the following:
* When TOMTOM is being used, I would like the screen to rotate landscape or portrait respective to the appropiate angle the HD is faced. However, I would like the rotation to stay fixed once the stylus is inserted. The rotation direction should only be able to change when the stylus is removed. (This should help me lock the screen to a landscape direction if needed or portrait if needed, and not have to worry about bumps in the road flipping my screen all over the place when driving.)
* When Windows Media Player is being used, I would like Gyrator not to rotate the screen whatsoever, because the WMP app seems to have G-Sen rotation already built in, and with Gyrator running, the phone gets very confused, and tries to show my video in lanscape on the portrait facing screen, thus chopping off half of the video)
* if anyone can suggest any other usefull Events that they've found useful, please let me know too (and if possible, let me know how to do it)?
Thanks.
BTW, ive looked at the Gyrator website, and their instructions are not the easiest to follow. (oh, and I find Gyrator 2 to be a much better app than the alternatives, hence why I am sticking with it - hoping I will learn how to use it much better)
Cheers.

That should have answers to all your needs (including WM Player and TT)
if you still have questions after reading the thread, let me know
Thanks, that helped wonders!
For certain apps, I want to be able to use the hardware keyboard but keep the screen in portrait mode. Gyrator helps a bit, but does not do everything I want:
Example 1: Kevtris. Only works in portrait, but needs enough mappable hardware buttons to control the pieces, so keyboard needs to be out, but device is held in portait.
For this, Gyrator helps because it turns the screen back to portrait if the device is in portrait (even if the keyboard is still out)
Example 2: Morphgear. Works best in portrait mode with the game display set to be sideways (East). So keyboard is out, device is held in landscape but I want the screen to stay portrait.
Any thoughts?
I'm not sure if changescreen would work, but you can set what programs turn what way, and could add an exception to those specific programs to display only in portrait mode. It's called changeScreen - v2.5 (Mar 13 '09). HTH

Is there any way to display your speed with Google Navigator?
Why when you zoom in the area you wanted zoomed in turns to be out of the visible map ?
Come on google !!! fix this !
I figured out that here would be the best place to ask.
I am struggling with the crappy fullscreen mode in landscape - the area around the camera is always either black or white. Did some tests - the most of the apps to not utilize the screen, where only the notification bar (being on the long side in landscape mode) does. Strangely enough, Google Maps and Google Translate DO utilize the whole screen in landscape mode, where as hangouts or gmail don't. This is with setting for full screen apps.
Did some reading and it seems like there are 2 ways - either the app forces the fullscreen or the OEMs. Did some tests with my own app at it looks like the only way for the app to appear fullscreen is to be allowed in the app. Is that so?
Does Gmail also have this blank area on other phones?
As you say, some apps use the full area, others don't, I believe the issue resides in the apps, not the device
