Desire - Can't enter recovery (exclamation mark) - Desire General

Hi All
I have searched for this and nothing is helping
I rooted my desire no problems. Installed a HTC generic ROM over my T-Mobile one again with no issues.
Then I installed defrost 1.3 no problems but now I can not enter the red exclamation screen. When I hold Power and Volume down I get to the menu where I need to select "Recovery" but when i do the phone boots to HTC green logo and stays stuck there.
I tried adb remount and then reboot commands and that did not work. ADB sees the device as attached though.
Also I downloaded the HTC official ROM exe and it will not detect the phone even though i have SDK and HTC sync installed.
Help!

Have you tried using fake flash? Or installing Rom Manager and booting into recovery via that app..

Exactly the same thing with ROM manager
Will try Fake Flash when I am back from Gym....

u can now flash full recovery look first topic

[SOLVED] Can't access Custor Recovery Image from HBOOT

I'm having a issue where I can't access ClockworkMod Recovery (or any other recovery, to be fair) when booting in HBOOT and selecting Recovery.
If I boot throught ROM Manager, I can go into CM like everybody else. If I try to go manually, I end up in the stock Recovery with exclamation mark.
The thing is that I made a tutorial to install CM in Desire and shared with some friends and all of them, following the same steps I made, can go into CM just by selecting Recovery in HBOOT.
Installed thru Unrevoked succefully but got the same issue.
I've tried to flash CM again thru ROM Manager several times with no luck. I can only go to CM if I use the option in ROM Manager.
I've searched a lot but I don't think I'm finding the correct key words.
Anyone has any ideas?
This is important because if I have problems with flashing some ROM and can't get into Android and ROM Manager, I won't be able to do anything without a PC.
I'm using Official SenseFroyo 1.0c from Open Desire.

You will have to flash a RUU Rom to restore recovery
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
You have forgotten one simple step.
When you choose recovery and get the red exclamation mark with a triangle, as described, you then need to press the volume down key and power at the same time. You will then have a blue text menu, choose apply update.zip to load CW recovery ( assuming you have CW recovery stored on your SD card root folder, renamed to update.zip )

Do you mean flash a RUU Rom and then flash a Custom Recovery back thru ROM Manager?
If so, is there any explanation why out of about 5 Desires rooted and with custom recovery flashed the same way, only 1 can't go into CM Recovery strait from HBOOT?
I'll try that as a last resource... If I can avoid flashing a 2.1 ROM and then a Froyo ROM back this would be nice.
Anyway, thanks for the quick help.

I already have CW installed. I just can't access it directly. Nothing happened when I pressed voldown+power while the red triangle was showing.

Sorry guys, you were right.
It turns out that dispite having using Unrevoked until it said "done", I though it would install CW directly...
Anyway, I just had to push VolUp + Power properly and managed to go into stock recovery and then flash CW.
Thanks atomfix and gekkonz for your help. I would never figure this out myself...
And that ROM Manager thing pointing out I had CW installed is really misleading, by the way...
Doh, yes vol up not vol down

[Q] can't get into recovery from fastboot

ok got a situation with a desire thats already been rooted
it was rooted with unrevoked and flashed with opendesire 4.04, i then updated to Amethyst RC7 (gingerbread) but this did not work with my sim unlock code - i kept getting emergency calls only message
so then flashed miui chinese which worked but when I try and get to clockwork recovery from fastboot i just get the white screen with green HTC logo. I need to get into clockwork to flash the english language pack.
Any ideas?
Apologies if its already been covered, i tried searching
What do you se on the fast boot screen. Do you se e the recovery option? How are you accessing fast boot, via power button or by power off and then vol+ power?
Sent with Desire.
Perhaps a silly. Question but have you tried adb reboot recovery?

Have you tried reflashing the recovery either via rom manager or using adb?

Don't think so, is the flash recovery 1 of the selection at the top of the Rom manager?
At the top of the rom manger app it will say flash recover 3.0.2.4. This is the most recent offical version. Click it and it will install CWM

So flash recovery and try booting into recovery again?

Cool, glad you got it sorted, happy flashing

See if this recovery works. You can either flash it through recovery or extract the image. Once you do that, you can flash it through either Fastboot, ADB, or Terminal Emulator.

Desire Z Recovery mode help!

So, I was continuously getting com.phone.Android process FC in CM7, so I decided to flash VirtuousROM on my Z.
I flashed the ROM, but since then the phone is stuck at the HTC boot logo.
I tried to boot into recovery mode by re-inserting the battery and putting the phone on charge. However, instead of recovery mode, the phone got stuck at the same HTC logo.
So, how do I manually boot into the recovery mode on my Z? What are the key combo?
I don't have access to a PC, so please don't suggest using ADB.

You should to choose factory reset in Hboot screen.

To manually get in to recovery hold volume down and power, this will take you to the bootloader where you can select recovery.

I just performed a factory reset (stock rom, nothing modified) re downladed some app, than froze and got stuck in bootloader mode. When I press recovery freezes again and nothing happens. 2 green arrows in round shape come up for a few seconds and dies... What to do?
Try flashing a custom recovery like clockworkmod through fastboot (taken your bootloader is S-OFF) then install a custom rom again through the recovery.
might be a bad download
check the md5 sum of the file and compare it to the one given by the dev
then try reflashing it

[Q] HTC ONE X_Boot Loop

I have rooted my phone and installed CWM . I wanted to install a new ROM and i installed Android Revolution HD and when i was trying to flash the boot.img file it say it isnt an external or internal command. I tried going to CWM recovery which i had earlier, it is not getting opened. Iam stuck here... PLEASE HELP!!!!!
P.S even factory resent doesnt help. Maybe i havent turned USB debugging on.
You need to flash the boot.img to make it boot. If your getting comand not recognised then your typing command in wrong dir or not got fastboot on pc.
