desperate need of help - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

for some reason my phone says that i do not have an sd card mounted. i tried removing it and reinstalling it but the phone does not read the sd card. this happened after i downloaded and installed aloyisus rom. now i cant even go back to my original rom. how can i fix this problem
also my pc doesnt reconize the device anymore. it states it needs qualcomm tech drivers msm.
Can this be repaired or am i Screwed.. htc evo 4g

do you have any other sd card readers to check?
can you boot into recovery and see your sd card?

no it does not read any other sd card and when i try to go into boot loader clock work recovery comes up. i cannot revert back to any of the previous roms i had.
my pc does not reconize the device anymore. it states that i must download qualcomm cdma tech.... msm driver. im hoping that if i can get that driver and at least be able to get my sd card reconized again i will be able to fix this problem..

is there any out there with a link to get this driver or does anyone have a step by step process on fixing this issue i have

Did you not make a nandroid backup of the last rom set-up you had on there that you can load from clockworkmod?

Can you boot into your phone and do a factory reset?
That will at least bring you back to stock rom

yes i did a nand back up and for some reason its not there i cant get the phone to recover at all. it seems as if the rom i put in there is the only rom.

when i tried to do a factory reset it comes back to that rom that i installed

Have you read this thread?

yes and i followed the steps to the T and i still get a device not recognized in the cmd. i have windows 7 64x and i was hoping that it will work but it didnt. i know there has to be a way to re-write the rom. all i need is access to the sd card and i can run nand.

Huge Problem - Please Help Anyone! NO SD or USB STUCK

Earlier today I flashed to a new rom and wanted to revert back using a nandroid backup - i tried to move my backups into clockwork folder so I could use clockwork recovery and thats when all hell broke loose
I ended up getting in an endless reboot and when I went into recovery my SD card wouldn't mount. I tried EVERYTHING including the RUU.exe - but no luck it wouldn't complete, SO I was able to add the PC36.IMG (or whatever the exact spelling is) to the SD and it restored that (I used the newest one Toast posted in the 2nd step rooting thread)
Now finally I'm back into android but I have no SD or USB support and again stuck.. Now when I try to reboot recovery I can't even use the update.zip because my phone can't mount the SDCARD within recovery or android. So now I have no idea what to do... Can anyone help? Should I try the RUU.exe on the computer again now that I'm back in android? I don't know if it will work because it seems I have no USB support - I can't ADB or anything.
My vote is you corrupted your SD card, and that it needs to be formatted. Reboot in to Flipz's recovery; There is an option in there to format and partition the SD card. Or, if you have a MicroSD card reader that you can use with your computer, pop it in there and I betchya the computer can't read it either. Format it with your computer as FAT32.
make sure usb debugging is enabled and RUU will work.

[Q] HELP! Desire won't boot up, Clockwork mod recovery accessible

This is my first post on this forum (figures I'll jump head in when I have a serious issue,ha?)
Ok here goes:
My Issue: HTC Desire is stuck on boot-up screen with Green HTC logo forever.
How it happened: I tried flashing a script using ROM Manager that was supposed to correct some local language settings, over my current rom.
Phone state before action: Worked beautifully using Modaco R8 RC1 ROM. Phone is of course rooted.
Why I can't solve it myself: Well, this is my first serious issue (well, I hope it's not serious, actually!) with phone, which i've had for about a week , so I'm relatively a n00b.
-- I can access Clockworkmod recovery. However, under NANDROID RESTORE there are no files. I have no idea why, because I DID a full nandroid backup before that install. I have a copy of all the IMG files of the last working setup on my windows machine hard drive, and my assumption is that maybe I accidentally moved the files to the hard drive after i did that backup, instead of copying them.
Now -
1) Can I somehow restore the phone to a working state without the nandroid backup, using some other function of the CW Mod recovery?
2) Can I somehow connect the phone via USB to the computer and get it to read the Micro SD card so I could maybe move the IMG files I have back to SD Card (using a mounting option)?
3) Anything else I could try?
If nothing else, please just calm me down if you can and let me know the phone is fixable and not bricked because I can access recovery?! That would at least help me go through the night...
last note: Before I flashed the zip, ROM Manager said my CW Mod version is 2.0.5.7. Within the recovery itself, it says the version is only 2.0.5.1. Don't know why that is , and if it is important.

You could read the SD Card directly with your computer. If you don't already have a microSD/USB reader, they are very cheap and will prove very useful in situations exactly like this one.

You are right! Indeed they are very cheap, but, unfortunately it's going to be a game of patience for me, because it's late evening right now and the shops are closed.
That's why I Was wondering if there's an option to mount SD using HBOOT or Recovery so I could end this ordeal tonight...
Anyway, The fact I could get into CM Recovery means the phone was not permanently damaged, right?
Right, if you can boot into recovery it's a good sign.
I have an N1, not a Desire, but in my CM recovery menu under "partitions menu" there is a "mount USB storage" option. Try that?
Alternately if you own any other phone with a microSD slot that can mount it via USB, it could be your makeshift USB reader.
I have had a similar issue before! What I actually ended up doing was pushing the files using ADB. Its quite easy and I'm sure you can find lots of threads on how to use it. Once the files are pushed to your SD card you can then restore it
FIXED!

Problem solved! And yeah, that's how I ended up doing it.. no micro SD card reader was needed..
I installed HTC Sync for the device drivers... then connected the Desire with the USB cable .. and worked out of the problem using ADB commands..
luckily, the guy whose update I installed that caused the problem has the same ROM as myself, so I installed his framework.jar file , and the machine is fine yet again!

[Q][HELP] Can't go to recovery, SD card removed + Qualcomm cdma Technologies MSM

Pheww,
I will try to explain what happened, but basically I am not able to boot in recovery, I mean I can boot in bootloader but if I select recovery and got the red triangle image if I connect via the usb amd try recovery-windows.bat from PC nothing happens and the computer says Qualcomm cdma Technologies MSM drivers are missing.
Also, I successfully loaded RUU rom and installed it from fastboot (copying as PB99IMG.zip file on the SD card) and that is the only thing I can run now on my phone.
I was hoping, once I load RUU that I will be able to repeat routing procedure etc, but now it reports Removed SD Card. I have reformatted card, checked another 2 cards, as well as mine card in another phone (Wildfire). My SD card works in another phone, but none of the cards works in Desire.
If I connect phone via USB computer does not recognizes it, it still searches for Qualcomm cdma Technologies MSM drivers, HTC Sync doesn't see it as well.
And yet another symptom is that: if the phone is off and usb plugged it turns on immediately and stuck in bootloop.
So what is your goal?
[Sig] dId you know? If you Insert a Coin on your Desire, then it levels up to HD, Z or S :[/Sig] !!!! 10 post limit for off topic NOW!!!!
My goal?
Final one is to enable my phone to boot in recovery and to restrore nandorid backup I have.
But firstly I need to enable SD card, or to resolve Qualcomm cdma Technologies MSM issue....

OK I'd like someone else to check my thinking, but wouldn't it work to:
insert wiped SD (FAT32 format)
flash the recovery (same version you made your nandroid in)
Wipe all / factory reset
Restore nandroid
If you are s-off you can flash recovery via fastboot - if s-on it's via rom manager, clear guide for both here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=532719
But the problem is that it won't recognize any SD in it. It reports SD Card Removed, although SD card is inserted

Hmm sorry missed that in your original post.
Now, I'm unsure...
As much as I noted it is able to recognize SD while in fastboot mode since it installed RUU ROM copied on sd card as PB99IMG.zip file, but when the OS is loaded, it not recognizes SD card at all

On the other hand... maybe this is a USB brick?

It is indeed most probably USB brick, I have almost all its symptoms... I'll study the thread you linked to see if I can resolve anything. Thanks!

[Q] Question about Flashing Recovery/Rooting

Hi Guys,
I'm sort of new to all this Rooting/Flashing Process.
So any way I'll start. I tried to Root my HTC Desire HD the other day, but can't due to the fact the current stock rom that's installed doesn't seem to want to recognise the SD Card, as it think it's a Blank Card or Unsupported Filesystem. (Believe me I have no idea to get round this issue, as I've tried several Re-Formats of this SD Card, and I have tried other SD Cards, but if you put any in my phone then back into the PC, You have to reformat it so you loose your stuff) So basically any SD Card you put in My Desire HD, Screws it up. Meaning after you even try and format it on my Phone or even a PC, you loose all of your stuff straight away.
Anyway back to my question. Since I'm unable to Root my phone, Am I able to just download ROM Manager from play store, and Flash the recovery so I can Wipe my phone completely and install A new ROM? Or since my phone won't detect my SD Card, Will it brick my phone or screw it up if I do flash the recovery and wipe anything? (By the way, I've got the phone to recognise the SD Card once or twice, but after a few hours, even after using the phone perfectly to take videos, pictures Music ETC, it wants to reformat it again due to the fact the phone thinks it's an Unsupported Filesystem). I'm not sure if this SD Issue is Hardware or Software Related, But I would have my money on Both, but I'm just not Sure.
Your help would be really appreciated guys. Thanks.
You can only flash a recovery if you can write to a partition. You need to root with either HTCDEV or AAHK to write to a partition.

[Q] Nexus 7 (2013) lte soft bricked, no backup

Hi, so I installed franco kernel on my nexus 7 2013 LTE and it messed it up. Got it stuck on boot loop. Unfortunately I didn’t do a backup. So now I can’t restore. The worst thing is my laptop doesn’t recognize it when I take it to bootloader mode or recovery. I reformatted it from recovery so I think I lost root but I can still access the bootloader and recovery. Will appreciate suggestions on how to go about this.
Did you try reflashing the ROM?
Do you have any files on the SD card? It seems that is your only hope if your computer doesn't recognize it while in bootloader or recovery.

Do you have the correct drivers installed? If so, try removing them and re-installing. There's plenty of info to be found on XDA and the rest of the web on how to do that.
You can also try:
-another USB port on your laptop
-change your USB cable (you'd be surprised on how often this works)
-use another computer
