I'm wondering how i can check which app/app's uses my battery power most.
Just put my Desire away for 1 hour, and even in standby mode i'm losing +/- 5% per hour. I don't think this is normal, so if somebody can help me find the problem i would be really thankful
On your phone dialler press: *#*#4636#*#* then tap battery history. Tap other usage, then choose partial wake usage. This should show you anything that is running while the phone is in standby.

Ok, well not much. I only see the android system is running and my dialer one.
Do you have decent network signal? A poor 3g reception can cause battery drain. Other than that, if you don't have anything preventing the phone from sleeping. I'm lost!
Well my 3g connection is not really strong, but it's terrible either.
Maybe i'll reflash the rom or try another one, and see what happens.
A lot of people swear by Pays 2.1 roms and their battery life, so you might want to test one of them.
And i just got used to the speed of 2.2
Lol, you are not the only person reporting high battery drain on a froyo rom. Nekromantik was also having this issue. He said that 2.1 was much better.
I've tried about every rom out and am back to 2.1 for now.
Maybe i will flash 2.1 back. First i'm going to look for the pay roms you talked about.
HERE they are. I've tried and like the Brave Soul version.
Thnx, downloading now.
Last question. Is there a very big speed defference with the 2.2 roms ? I only know that the linpack benchmarks where amazing with 2.2
To be honest, I don't play games etc on my phone so I don't really know. As far as day to day usage goes I notice no difference in browsing, emailing, texting and calling.
Sometimes i like to play games, just to kill some time
Flashing v2.0 now.
I think my battery is just broken. . .
After flashing it went from 100% to 95 in 3 minutes, when istalling 3 apps.

Had the same problem with the 2.2 ROM. Battery was going very fast. Reflashed Pays 2.1 and everything is better.
Besides I think the Pays has a lot of widgets already in.

So which one do you use. My battery is still running backwards.
Try to wipe your battery stats and put the phone in the charger over the night. Before wiping the battery stats i suffered from a big battery drain aswell, but after wiping it improved.

Hi All,
When i look into (almost) all roms i see the problem with the battery drain problem.
To bad i do not have the knowledge to find out what to do.
But i think that some smart developers work together to find a solution about this battery drain problem.
So that's why i start this thread so we can discuss this

Drain
Tested a lot of roms with froyo and sense. The roms based on 2.06 base are draining relative more then the roms based on 2.04.
Above is not scientificly tested.
Charge to 100% , go to recovery , advanced , wipe battery stats. Enjoy greater baterry life

I had NONE battery drain problems on any of ROMS 2.1 or 2.2, and i did try alot of them.
Maybe theres something wrong with your phone itself (battery).
But definetly try wipe battery stats in recovery.
Since 08:00 morning had WiFi on.. network Data of... and now 12:02 battery is now 90%. DId have play with config the Tasker Tool (Great app).
Tomorrow i will do the test again but then with Network Data on and WiFi off.

people are having mixed results on the battery perfermance of adam's sensefroyo rom. i experienced a poorer battery life compared to eclair (i used Amer_v4 and the battery was excellent) but can still manage to last a full day usually. haven't tried out the froyo roms though.

btw aren't you're using opendesire?
I've changed about 8 roms, mostly used 4, but can't say there was a huge difference between them. 2 days of normal use, 1 day of heavy use.
Possibly shadowfrost and DeFrost 2.4 had the best battery life and I had the fastest kernel installed...
I would think that - some isolated problem aside - mostly it has to do with some applications/settings

sometimes my E-Mail application is consuming most of the cpu. It keeps the cpu at max frequency. Even if i try to end the taks with the app "system panel" it wont solve the problem. I have to go into the app and make a manual sync.
i also found out that automatic brightness is using loads of battery. since i set it to static I'm experiencing almost 2 days of battery life with moderate use.
I'm on Defrost 2.1
Hello again everybody,
Yesterday whole day online by WiFi. Using phone couple of hours and my Maildroid Email was active without prevent sleep mode.
Battery was empty after almost 17hours. (+/- 5% every hour)
Today. Wifi on. Maildroid now with prevent sleep mode ON.
Have unplugged the phone 4 hours ago and battery is at 75%
Tomorrow i will test this with Network Data on.. and without prevent sleep mode of Maildroid. And day after with prevent sleep mode.
I know for sure.. the battery will drain very vast for both situations...
BUT Ill let you know
EDIT 26-07-2010: Battery was empty tonight on 1:30.
NOW I do the whole test again but now with network data on and WiFi off
Ive had the opportunity to own a Nexus One at launch and a HTC Desire...I always found Android OS to be the issue whenever i had excessive battery drain.
Ive found my issue to center around the OS 'calling home to sync' (whether 'sync' option is selected or not)Initially, the problem was resolved by deleting all my sync funtions...but that was obviously not practical........ so now I keep my GSM data connection running and I get about 2.5 days on Open Desire (non HTC Sense).
AdamG seems like the guy who knows what hes talking about - His changelogs for OpenDesire actually hint at him having done some battery drain tweaking...whatever he did, he has definitely fixed it
Cheers
Oz
I've tried so many ROMS in the past few weeks to try to solve battery drain issues. On some, I could almost see the percentage dropping as I looked at the home screen! I even bought a new battery thinking I might have killed the original.
OpenDesire does seem to be the way forward re this problem if you're intent on the HAVS kernel. OD2.3a gave me almost two days of varied use.
However, and I know this is going backwards, an earlier DeFrost - the 2.1, is brilliant for me. I'm now at two days since unplug and still at an unbelievable 45% - yes, I know, I thought it was broke as well! For now, I'm sticking with this one. Everything I want works and I don't have to carry a spare battery in my pocket when I go out.
Hope this is of some help. Don't despair. You will find the one for you.
Cheers
I don't get why everyone says they have such a issue with battery.
I get about 2.5-4 days of use with DeFrost 2.2 and have done about so since DeFrost 0.9. I've had it up around five days once.
How are you actually using your phones?
It's not a "Froyo" issue.

It's very interesting to me how are YOU using your phone?
Come on, 4 days ? When i talk about 30m to 1h each day and using a phone little bit, i have at least 30-40% down.
u mean u only drain about 25% each day? are u actually using your phone ? wifi, calls, 3g ? or u have a expensive pocket toy just to show to your friends ?
Configuring this thing for good battery life is exhausting. Before root I had done most things listed in this thread : http://www.xda-developers.com/android/tweaks-for-superb-battery-life-in-evo/ and finally achieved pretty good battery life.
After root, I have never been able to achieve this even though the bloatware isnt running, have various tweaks on there for performance, and so on.
Have tried Fresh Rom with stock and Kings #11 and liked it but had terrible battery life. Tried Myn's 2.2 with stock, Kings #11, and Netarchy and battery was not much better. Now running AVA9 (no flashed kernel) and battery is no better. Have tried running setCPU on all these setups and does not help.
Any suggestions? Seems someone will say this rom/kernel combo works for them and another person will say it sucks, don't use it.
I couldn't stick with Myn's because there were too many bugs/errors. If my best bet is to go back to all HTC stock rom w/root then so be it.
.....and yes, I have read through the numerous amount of threads on this topic but no clear combination has been highlighted that I have seen. I use my phone for business primarily so it needs to last me as long as possible. The thought of increasing my phone size with an extended battery is not appealing to me.
I have stock rooted 3.29. I initially did the plug-unplug trick when I got the phone. Then, I turned off always on data, and set email, google accounts, and Sense weather widget to update once an hour. Phone behaves the same as when data is always on, so I don't even notice 3G off when the screen is off.
I get 8 - 10 hours under very heavy use (constant fiddling, email, games, internet, calls, etc),
10 - 15 hours moderate (surfing, ebooks, email, internet),
and easily 18+ with light use (email, occasional light surfing, occasional call)
I have everything the same as before root so with the bloatware and some other things not running would think it would last longer than stock......not!
@greyopaque...what was the reasoning for using stock rom instead of custom? Battery life or just never tried any of the others? Would like to know if your battery life is better with just the stock over others.
Ditto....I am a heavy user and leave everything running that I need. I use the phone for what it was made for. After trying/not trying all different types of roms/battery tweaks/advanced task killers/battery monitors etc., I decided to buy another original red 1500 battery as I don't like the extended battery look either. So, until they come with better battery technology....I guess that would be the career to go into and make some money ;0).....we are stuck with the best phone ever...yet....with a battery life that sucks for those of us that put the phone to the test....have a great day!
Yep...only problem is having to shut the phone off, change battery, then power back on. All the while, missing whatever phone calls come in.
***My point of the thread really isn't the terrible stock battery but the fact that the pre-rooted setup lasted so much longer than the rooted w/custom rom. Why??
I would think the battery life would get better without all the bloatware and other worthless services running all the time.
Once again.. you need to check your apps. Most likely there's something causing a drain.. Try updating to the newest rooted stock roms (3.30). The new kernel is definitely an improvement.
As an aside.. what bugs did you have with myn's 2.2 rls2? I ran it, and it was fine. Now on rls3 beta and amazing rom with great battery (3.30 base).
To be honest, I've never tried anything else. I really like the stock Sense experience... and since this is a work phone, I need it to work without glitches.

Well....hopefully I can hear from some peeps that have used a good amount of custom roms/kernels, as well as the stock one and see what they think.
Cmon guys....let me know!
@eyeballer1......Myn's was just acting weird and I kept getting a "com.htc.bgp" force close that I couldn't fix. Also, I have tried the newest stock rom but it is just so darn plain jane didn't keep it on long enough to test it. As for apps, I have basically the same apps on my phone that I had before root (except for specific root apps such as rom manager, titanium, etc).

Sadly they won't.. That is battery technology.. This world is pretty much stuck where its at and will probably stay there.. Its the one thing that is not progressing that much.. Even from the 50's
That said.. the thicker battery is the way to go.. Only you will know its thicker, and trust me.. ITS NOT THAT BAD! Believe it or not you get used to it.. If its for business, well then a thicker battery should not bother you at all, use it during the day and maybe at night switch back to the smaller one.. You know, for the dates and ****
The thicker battery will be a life savior.. All these battery tricks and tips help, but nothing is going to be mind blowing.. The fact is, this phone is extremely advanced and requires a lot of power.. I just except the fact that I need to be close to a power charger at most times..
I might go ahead and try Myn's new beta with 3.30 and see what happens. Looks as though I need to look deep into what is actually using my battery. I have always used K-9 for email and have heard it sucks up battery, but it only uses about 2% on mine and is the best email app I have ever found.
@fastfed......I'll have to ask my wife if I can go on a date sometime.
what helped me the most was wiping battery stats correctly (as per cyanogen wiki, but applies to all roms).
Charge to full, turn off, wipe battery stats. Turn back on, wait till everythings loaded, unplug. Use as normal until battery dies (do not charge at all until battery dies). Recharge fully in one go (meaning do not unplug while charging until full). Use and charge as normal.
This should be done whenever flashing new rom.

The biggest positive jump I have seen in regards to battery life was going from Cm6 to 3.29 ruu stock, then I ur3 to root.
I'm still sceptical that the 3.30 zip update gave any improvement to battery life as I have seen others report. In fact, I almost wonder if I somehow have less battery life now, but it could be in my head. It's almost impossible to approach this issue scientifically since I use this evo all day.

Try bakedsnack 1.8, its the best battery life I've seen on a rom w/o having to make all these stupid tweeks and disabling features on ur phone.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I'm gettin great battery life using vaelpak 2.3 with the stock htc kernel. I imagine most of the custom kernels around are based off of older kernels and while they may have higher "performance" ratings though I have hardly been able to tell a difference between kings 11 or baked speed and battery, I think the newer stock kernel is your best choice no set cpu to worry about, its just simple. I'm personally gettin about 14 hours with almost constant music playing to bluetooth headset, a bunch of browsing, and occasional use of google navigation which is a big battery eater. With just phone and text use after 21 hours I was at 52% yesterday.
ok so i have literally flashed every major rom / kernel and a comination of each. I have found that with minor tweaking most sense based roms get close to the same battery life. some people will argue that this or that rom is best but I would challenge others to truely preform a test on them and i bet they would be suprised.
k-9 is only a battery hog if you have it constantly polling for new emails if you have it set up to scan constantly then it will take a reasonable about of battery life but nothing more then most other email apps with the same settings.
have you tried as was lsited above and recalibrating your battery? I am assuming you are a pretty heavy user from the sound of things. How long where you getting pre root and how long are you now getting rooted? do you have titanium back up set up on a schedule? If so that can cause major battery drain as it sometimes keeps your phone awake.
All in all with the information you provided no one can actually tell you what is wrong. there are to many variabes and everything we say is a shot in the dark hoping to hit common problems.
my best recomendation configure your battery stats as listed above, if you havent tried use the HTC trick (chrage battery for 8 hours turn off phone charge for 1 hour turn on phone unplug it or 2 minutes then turn it off and charge for another hour.)
Anytime you wipe data you wipe your batary stats and it can drasitally impact your phones "battery life".
At this point I'm not so sure my battery or charging device on the phone isn't defective. But, only time will tell.
Currently I am running the newest, non-beta Myn TwoPointTwo and Netarchy 4.2 non-havs. I also ran this procedure (which fachadick already suggested):
1. Phone on...charge until green light comes on. Immediately unplug and turn phone off.
2. Plug phone back in until green light comes on again. Immediately boot into Recovery and wipe battery stats.
3. Use the phone on battery until dies.
4. recharge phone to 100%
I'm still on step 3. Will report back after a few days.
I had never heard of doing this when switching roms so hopefully it will help since I have swapped out a good amount lately.
Does anyone know where to get the newest HTC flashable kernel based on the new 3.30 release? All I have found is the rom package.
What is the best ROM for battery usuage?
Every sense with leedroid kernel...
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
i use revolution hd 3.1 and its great for performance and battery
I will second that Revolution HD 3.1 makes such a difference to battery life, its much smoother than stock too. Tried CM7 and CoreDroid but they were both a little too battery hungry to be useful.
ROM, Kernel and Radio
I have used LeeDroid HD, Spike CM7 and Android Revolution HD. All with different kernels and radios.
I would think the battery drain has to do with both ROM, Kernel and Radio versions (and maybe more). So it's vital that all the components is compatible. Most ROM devs recommend both a radio and a kernel.
And of cause it depends on all the services and app installed after the flash
Anyway, to you question:
I use the new Spike CM7 build 19 and have great battery life now.
I had problems with no sleep mode on other ROM/Kernel before. (and yes I have tried various patches)
I'm using CM7 latest nightly with mad murdocks battery fix and the the most latest radio and I'm getting 3-5 mA battery drain while in standby (with constant 3g, mobile data and sync on). So I'd say all the roms are quite close to each other when it comes to battery drain nowadays and the battery drain isn't a main concern anymore while choosing between roms.
My friend and myself bought the phones on same day. He runs Revolution and I run LeeDroid. Looks like there is a small advantage with LeeDroid.
i'm using Spike CM7 build 19 flashed with mad-murdock's batfix build7 and my battery life is great
I recommend Android Revolution HD 3.2 for you!

I don't know what would be much...
But with texting all day, some calls I get this, but yeah, I immediatelly turn off the display after using my phone and have deactivated all unnessesary stuff
I also removed most of the sense stuff and don't use twitter or something
the only syncing things are mail (every hour) and google (once a day)
but yeah, 1-2 days are easy with this, but mostely 2+

I'm not saying that it isn't possible as you can get a week out of the device if you just let it run on standby but as soon as you switch the screen on the consumption jumps to at least around 200mA and add a little gaming, browsing etc the consumption doubles from that (not an exact figure). So what I am saying is that it's kind of false to imply that another rom has way better battery consumption if you really don't use it that much. As it has been implied in many other threads that you just can't get over a day out of the device if you actively use it. It's just maths and there is no way around it as 1230mAhs will only get you that far
It is possible to get a few days by using it as a "regular" phone, it is all really usage dependent, and therefore the times are pretty hard to compare.
I am seeing a battery improvement using Coredroid V4 over Coredroid V3.2.
Today I have given the phone light use, about 4 short phone calls, email browsing, some facebook browsing but no gaming and I am at 73% after 12 hrs from full charge.
Combination of Buzz 1.3.8.2. 1.61GHz kernel, ARHD 3.2 with sense and the recommended radio is working great for me battery- and performance-wize. Using On demand gov at 1.22 GHz with 230-460MHz screen off profile.

I did'nt say that it all depends on the ROM I use, but with my normal mobile phone lifestyle and this ROM I get those battery lifetime. It was ment as an example, because on the other hand, if I use my DHD more frequent with playing games and stuff, I don't get around the 24h with a single battery charge, but that's (like you say) ROM independet because of the big display consumption and the 1230mA battery.
I just wanted to state the ROM I use with my normal battery experience for the thread author to test out.
It all depends on the user

Hey folks!
I have the EVO 004 Supersonic. I love flashing my Android, and do it constantly. I am having issues with Synergy RC1 that just went live. My battery is draining fast, and I mean in an hour maybe two, I have to charge it. That is just being on idle, not being used. Drains much faster if I use it. I flashed back to my original image (stock) and the battery lasts longer. So I flashed Mik, and it lasted longer and I flashed CyanogenMod and that sucker lasted longer, but I LOVE the way Syngery looks and flows. But I cannot get the battery to last longer. So I thought maybe apps were running that are not supposed to, so I use my favorite app killer and the apps keep popping up, they are driving me nuts. Why the hell are they restarting? I want them stopped and NOT to reactivate. Is this an issue with anyone else, because I really do not want to get rid of this ROM. Also, yes, I cleared the Battery stats as well. Still fast drain.
Oh, one more thing, I cannot OVERCLOCK the damn thing either. So, those are my issues, cannot get apps to stay shut off (force close even), Battery is dying super fast and cannot get it to stay charged longer than two ours. Oh, and I already checked my battery with Sprint, battery is good, and they even gave me a SECOND one, and it still drains fast. Please advise.
Thanks for listening folks, and I appreciate any help. I love this site and has helped me NUMEROUS times, but I finally had post my own specific issue as I have never dealt with this before nor found anything that can help.

jeez...dead in 2 hours...and being idle?! that sux. i was running Synergy for a while and didnt have THAT bad of battery life (i maybe had 7-8 hrs before it needed to be charged again)
and of course you cant overclock yet...the kernel doesnt support it! it's still the stock kernel that came with the OTA...HTC still hasn't released the source code for the kernel so no custom "gingersense" kernels for us just yet (i.e. no HAVS, sbc, overclocking, etc.)
try some of the battery saving tips that Myn links to in the 2nd post of the Synergy thread...maybe that will help
question for you: why are you using an app/task killer!?!?!?! Android has one built in already [MENU >> SETTINGS >> APPLICATIONS >> RUNNING SERVICES (or MANAGE APPLICATIONS)] that could also be a reason your battery life is crappy (i really hate task killers so that last line might be biased lol but seriously...android does have it built it)

First, Synergy runs on HTCs stock kernel, they havent released the source code for the kernel yet, so there are no custom kernels for any evo 2.3 rom, so you cant overclock, or get the awesome battery life we usually get from custom kernels.
Now the battery draining is usually the radios. Right now I have wakelock on my phone running synergy, but I dont wanna mess with my radios, you would have to try different radio/pri combos until you find the right combo.

jeez...dead in 2 hours...and being idle?! that sux. i was running Synergy for a while and didnt have THAT bad of battery life (i maybe had 7-8 hrs before it needed to be charged again)
and of course you cant overclock yet...the kernel doesnt support it! it's still the stock kernel that came with the OTA...HTC still hasn't released the source code for the kernel so no custom "gingersense" kernels for us just yet (i.e. no HAVS, sbc, overclocking, etc.)

I use task killers because I can kill all tasks at once instead of individually. I would like to be able to close apps I am not using as well. But they keep popping up. I know now the overclock does not work with gingerbread, but man, I got a lot of misinformation.
I appreciate your help, I will try the battery saving tips, but if it is about letting the phone die, erasing battery logs and then charging it and then making the green light stay on when first plugged in and other stuff like that, I have tried it to no avail. I just flashed another ROM and the battery is FINE! It is so damn frustrating. I see others with great battery life. I just cannot get mine to do it.

Well, you guys probably will not believe this, but I got my battery to last a looooong time! I was messing with my battery options and decided to turn OFF the battery saving option it gives (enable power saver). I rebooted the phone charged it fully and then took it off the charger, BAM! Being FULLY charged it went down one percent after being on for 40 minutes. That is much better than I was getting on my stock and other roms. I just love this dang rom. Now, if I could only overclock the darn thing. So I have had the EVO on for 2 hours and 10mins and the battery says 97%, sweet. Anywho, battery issue is solved, loved it. Has this been mentioned before? Turning off the battery saver to save on battery? LOL. It probably has and I must have been to frustrated to absorb that info. Thanks for your help!
Battery saver...
I, too, was having draining issues on my Synergy-ROMed Evo. I could WATCH the battery drain. But I turned off the "battery saver" in power prefs and it's HOLDING STEADY! I'll report back if this doesn't turn out to be the cure I was hoping for, but it's definitely worth a try.
Now if I could just get this GPS to stop rebooting my phone...
Hey everyone, this is my first post in this great forum.
I am looking for some help in choosing a new ROM for my HTC desire, the main thing i want to see is the new Gingerbread OS 2.3 and the improvements it brings (battery life), but sadly it has not been officially released to the Desire platform.
EDIT :
Okay now Im on CM7, probably gonna try oxygen later, but till now CM7 suits all my needs and the battery seems good (20 to 26 hours heavy usage) but im running into a small problem.
at 9% the battery dies and phone turns off, battery and phone seem somehow out of sync so 9% means 2% or something, how can i fix this and make it turn off at 2% ?
If it's battery life you're interested in, Oxygen is pretty awesome, but it's AOSP so doesn't have any Sense stuff (widgets, messaging app, camera etc) - there's stuff on the market that provides equivalents/better versions though.
I've just flashed a sense ROM a couple of days ago after coming from Oxygen and I'm missing Oxygen so much that I'll be going back to it tonight It's very fast and stable.
But if you want to stay with Sense, this ROM is as close to stock Gingerbread (with Sense) as you'll get http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1124810
People have been getting good battery life with that but I've not had too much luck getting great results. It's very smooth though
EDIT: CyanogenMod 7 I can't tell you too much about as I've only briefly flashed it. I remember it didn't feel as "clean" as oxygen but it had a huge amount of customisation potential (though saying that, the latest Oxygen build has almost as much, with the ThemeChooser). Also I don't think CM7's battery life is as good as Oxygen's.
What I'd do if I were you: Flash the CM7r2 HBOOT from http://alpharev.nl/ then flash Oxygen/CM7/SGBS depending on what you want to try first - all 3 work on that HBOOT so if you don't like one you can just flash another quite easily.
Make sure you know what you're doing flashing HBOOT though as there's a risk of bricking associated with it. So just read up first.

Thanks.
I decided to try CM7 7.0.3 for a while and i like it. Alot of customization and some neat features, but the downside is that i dont feel like the Battery consumption has changed at all, its still as i have had my 2.2 froyo stock i think.
I did a small measurment of battery consumtion please tell me if i should be getting these results:
First
-Phone with CM7 rom Charged at 96%
(turned on wifi for like 10minutes, did around 6 phone calls, 1hour looking around settings, animated wallpaper activated for an hour)
After exactly 6hours the battery went down to 76%
So in 6hours the battery decreased 20%
Is this a good result? Will I be getting better battery life in the Oxygen rom ? If so i will definitely switch to Oxygen.
Well that's not exactly bad. I'm currently on 42% after 20 hours 30 minutes with WiFi on syncing emails every hour, a bit of browsing, over an hour of gaming (trial xtreme), some texting, about 20 minutes of calls and some music playing too. Idle it probably uses less than 1% per hour. I'm on the latest oxygen.
I'm really happy with this battery life
I'd recommend downloading battery calibration from the market to get the most from your battery.
Redux is a good ASOP ROM with good battery life - its quite stripped down.
For a sense ROM - I like LeeDroid.

Or completely ruin it. Battery calibration is to be used only if your battery percentage is out of sync with real mV status, so your phone ends up dead at say, 10%. It is not to be used to decrease battery consumption, which is not going to happen. Ever.
To OP, it boils down to your preference. I couldn't care less for ota updates, but if you do, flash ruu, or maybe even rooted stock would work, I'm not sure about that though. As for battery consumption, you had 1 hour screen on, some calls and texts. I'd call that fair.

Yeah you're right. I meant battery monitor widget. It was late at night, forgive me
Battery monitor widget gives you a good idea of what your drain can be attributed to so is a very handy thing to have on your phone. Battery calibration (as the poster above mentioned) is to line up the amounts your phone reports with the true amounts and should only be used if you're getting strange shutdown occurrences etc. Sorry about that
Some people use juice defender too but I don't really like it tbh.
Yeah, those placebo apps are the best
Juice defender, setcpu, task killers, memory menagers etc share the same place in the Hall of sillyness.

To the OP (not erklat)
If you flash a carrier RUU you're all set for ota UPDATES.
If you de-branded the phone yourself, you can still get ota updates, just make sure your goldcard is installed prior to installing the update. If you update without a goldcard you will lose your data connection
If you have a rooted stoc, same as erklat's opinion, I think it should work but I have never tested this myself.

No i read this method and many users are reporting battery damage. I dont want to do this. My battery on regular use (calls, wifi, games, browsing) lasts 26 hours max and on idle it could last like 40 hours or more maybe.
Its just that the phone is turning off at 9% battery.
I used the Battery calibration app suggested before by cgmorris89 but then erklat said that it would ruin things.
What can i do to make my phone turn off at 2% ?
Oxygen every day!
Try MIUI.us!
Miui is using cyanogenmod kernel and base over which it gives great launcher and best default sms and phone apps.
Firewall and white/black list call blockers are included also.
If you can live with english locale, of course.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
Thank you guys, yes i will try Oxygen and MIUI later on, but now im testing with CM7 and i have this battery percentage problem. If anyone has a solution to this, will be very much appreciated.
And another thing, should i update my Radio ? i have 4.08.00 something, is it safe to do so or might i brick my phone ?
