sgp crystal = close to glass feel
zagg = rubbery feel

I ordered the anti-fingerprint... should be here in a day or so.. cant wait cause i dont like the feel of the zagg at all!

Let us know how they are.
Especially the anti-fingerprint..
My two biggest probs with this phone are
A. oil
B. not as smooth as an oleophobic coated equivalent. (AKA oil again)

in for the reviews...

Incredible... They are out of stock. FAIL

be happy you didn't get one. i got my anti fingerprint today and there are no holes cut out on it for the front facing camera. their design is wrong its probably the same as the HD2.

Just ordered the anti-fingerprint.
I've been using the crappy one from sprint, and it already has marks on it that won't come off.
I used to use powersupport crystal film on an iphone, and it felt like glass and lasted forever without getting any marks/dings/scratches on it, so I'll see how this compares.

Many of the protectors on the market don't have cutouts for anything but the speaker - this is not that unusual or "wrong"...

I have pretty much settled on boxwave as my sole provider of screen protectors for various devices after having tried many. They have the best custom fit (all holes cut out) screen protectors in my experience. I actually do not use the clear one, just the anti-fingerprint one.
For cases, I pretty much go exclusively with Seidio now too.

its not wrong... like someone else said.. i am not sure i have heard of ANY screen protector that has cutouts on the front for the camera or light sensor. Like i said in the other post, these are "99.9% optically clear" and they should not interfere with anything.

Well.. i got my Steinheil anti-fingerprint the other day and i am shipping it back today.
What i liked: The fit / cut was great! Didnt interfere with the camera and was perfect. I really like the material its made of (not stretchy spongy like Zagg) very hard and felt good on the screen. And the aheisive they used was really awesome! While putting it on, its very easy to take off and move so you make sure you have it in the right spot, but after its on, it stays in place well!
What i didnt like: Really the only thing i didnt like was the matte finish on the anti-fingerprint ones. It felt nice and was great to the touch. My finger glided very smooth over the surface, however, it seemed to give the screen a grainy look and with this beautiful screen on the Evo, you just cant have that.
I would absoulutely buy from them again if they had the clear in stock or could tell me when they would have more in stock. But they cant, so i am returning it and think i will try the handhelditems ones just to see if there is a quality difference in the "value" priced ones VS. the "premium" ones (my guess is there wont be)

zagg has cutouts for both. it's the only one i have delt with.

Just got mine last night. I have the same opinion of it. However, I applied mine anyway because I had the crappy universal Sprint one on there and they only cut a square to match the 4.3" display instead of all of the glass.
I ordered a crystal one also last night...I'm impressed with the anti-fingerprint one, but like you said, the matte/grainy finish is just a no-go on such a nice display.

Boxwave has these cutouts. I have and always will be a Boxwaver....

Boxwave boxwave boxwave. All the correct cutouts and perfect feel and look.

I received the Steinheil Ultra Crystal Clear protectors in the mail today. I like the feel of it-no rubbery feel at all. The installation is a dry method and very easy to apply and walk away with a perfect looking screen. There is no wait time like with some other brands out there where you need to use liquid for the installation. On the EVO I've tried Ghost Armor, Phantom Skinz, and ExtremeShields and now Steinheil. Steinheil by far is my preference though wish the protectors were cut to the actual size of the screen not smaller than it. I'd much rather have a more difficult installation with 100% of the screen covered than an easier one with portions of it unprotected. Of all the protectors I've tried cut wise-Phantom Skinz covered the most screen of all them.

What is the best screen protector?

I just got my Droid X today and I know my screen is going to get scratched to hell and back. I bought a quality one off of ebay for my TP2 and it was an all out pain to get on; ended up throwing it away in anger.
So what is the best screen protector for the X? I would like one that covers the whole face not just the area you touch. I hear the vzw ones suck...
I was considering buying one of those body guard kits and let someone at the mall install it (i can never seem to get the bubbles out). Are they any good?
There really isn't a "best" screen protector. It depends on what you want in a screen protector. There are two main types, the kind that uses static adhesion (think the plastic sheet that was on the screen when you bought it) or the kind that uses a liquid adhesive. (like Zagg Invisible shield) The liquid adhesive ones typically have better protection, but can cause more distortion and are known to more severely affect the feel of the touch screen. They can also be a ***** to put on, prepare to spend at least 30 minutes to do a proper job, and you won't be able to use your phone for 24-48 hours while it dries. However, if you are really worried about getting the best protection, go for that.
Static adhesion ones are probably going to work for the majority of people, especially since the Droid X has Gorilla glass and many people say you don't even need a screen protector at all. I believe SGP (also known as Steinheil) makes high-quality static adhesion protectors, but they may be out of stock at the moment. I'm probably going to get an SGP for my DX when they get back in stock. Go for the crystal or ultra-crystal, i've heard reports that the anti-glare or anti-fingerprint affect the feel/drag and look of the screen more than the crystals.
tl;dr Get an SGP (Steinheil) crystal or ultra-crystal
I used one on my MT3G. It's still on there after a year.
On the DroidX I haven't put one on. It uses 'Gorilla Glass' which is really good, from Corning.
There's a video on youtube where a guy tried to scratch his screen with keys about 30 times and it didn't scratch at all.
I haven't heard about anyone getting a scratch yet, and I'm not going to put on a screen protector.
May not need one on the DroidX.
Has anyone gotten a scratch yet?

Yea those ultra crystals look pretty good. Ive never used an adhesive one before though... i dont really like the sound of it either. I've used the water ones and they work ok...

These are the best ive found, and I have gone through FOUR brands now looking for what I want, including the verizon one.
The crystal clear ones are exaclty that -- crystal clear screen prots with adhesive on one side and a protective film on the other that you peel off the front when you are done applying the protector. THIS IS NOT THAT ZAGG POLYVINYL crap. I hate that stuff.
The anti-fingerprint ones are also nice, I have those too. They are a bit "cloudy" like the verizon ones, but your finger glides over them fantastically, and they reduce glare.
The best part is -- THEY COVER THE WHOLE SCREEN AREA! I wanted that especially. Enjoy!
well i think I am going to buy the crystal one... i just hope its not hard to put on. Im not the best at putting those sticky ones on

You don't need to use screen protectors on the Droid X. As stated before it has Gorilla Glass. If something happens that is strong enough to scratch Gorilla Glass a little plastic screen protector isn't going to stop it.
Steinheil Ultra Crystal is the best, hands down!
In my option, the best protector is the Steinheil Crsytal. I had it on my Incredible, my brother still does, and now I have the Steinheil Ultra Crystal on my DX. It keeps the screen perfectly glass looking, as if there is nothing on it, allows for easy sliding, and is nice and thick to protect the screen. In my opinion, you can't beat it.
With shipping I paid 17.25 for it... comes with 2 protectors. They initially lost my order, so they sent me another, and guess what? The original showed up. So now I am expecting another at the end of this week/beginning of next.
If anyone is interested in it, I would be happy to sell it since I obviously don't need it. Let me know. I also have an extra TPU argyle (dark gray) case that I would be willing to sell if the price is right. I paid 8 dollars, shipped, for it.
In my opinion, the SGP Ultra Crystal is by far the best protector for the X.
I've had the VZW protector, which was horrible, and I've also had a privacy guard. Though the privacy guard did keep my phone private, the touch screen functionality wasn't great because the privacy guard was too thick.
I ended up with the SGP Steinheil ULTRA CRYSTAL Screen Protector and I love it. It's so clear, and it almost feels like there is nothing on the screen, but it's pretty thick compared to others; thick enough to provide excellent protection and not hinder touch screen functionality.

Actually, Gorilla Glass can be scratched. I've managed to get a really bad 3 MM wide scratch on my Zune HD, which has Gorilla Glass as well. I've heard of similar reports of scratches on devices with Gorilla Glass. So in other words, these screens aren't scratch proof. They're scratch resistant.

SGP Steinheil ULTRA CRYSTAL Screen Protector +1
it's awesome. It comes with two, and I botched the first one... many would say it was fine, but I had like one spec of dust under it, removed, recleaned, reapplied number 2... it's AWESOME. I don't use a bumper or anything big and latexy around the outside of my phone, just a Steinheil on the screen, and nothing else. It's CLEAN.
SGP Ultra Crystal. Just put it on and I can safely say I'm very impressed. You really can't tell there's anything there imo. It was a pita to figure out how to put it on...at least for me. I had to watch a you tube video to realize there are actually 3 layers to each screen protector when first taken out of the package. Piece of cake after that. Gotta be smarter than the screen protector I guess.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
After dealing with half a dozen screen protectors for my past 3 phones, Including Zagg, Seidio, and a bunch of other cheapies... I really recommend the Boxwave Crystal Touch.
It is literally the easiest thing I have ever applied, from out of the package to on my phone perfectly in less than a minute. You cannot even tell it is on your phone.

My experience was just the opposite. My InvisibleShield kept peeling but my dry install screen protector was near perfect. I had the iPhone 3GS before the Atrix so I had a Power Support screen protector.
I just placed an order for Realook. I'll report in when I get it!
From the description, it is very similar to the Martin Fields protector which is slightly thick but strong and difficult to scratch.
I purchase this one early before the Realook was being sold:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004PDHS9Y
It also has good reviews from other Android phones and it comes in 3 pcs/pkg. I'll compare it to the Martin Fields.
i just bought skinomi ones for like 16$ :x
I think the Realook screens are some of the best out there. The surface feel of it is very good albeit not as slick as those anti-glare ones. They aren't the most anti-finger goo, but they're not any worse than any other screen. When the phone is off, and you look at the screen in just the right light and angle (usually 45deg oblique under a fluorescent bulb) you see a very obvious rainbow effect. Not very desirable, but is not visible at any other time so it's okay.
The protection is adequate (never really tested but it works for me). The fit is excellent. Its the regular stick on kind. No touch sensitivity impedance. I've been waiting for the realook one for the Atrix for a while now. Don't understand why it's so hard to just cut plastic sheets...
Best part is that they're not stupidly priced. $10 for 2. Good value.
My room mate got the otterbox case and it came with a screen protector also. I think its one of the best screens I've seen. It seems to be very very anti-finger goo. Gonna look into it.
So I got my Realook cover today so here is a short review:
The packaging came quite professionally and included the standard stuff you would expect from a premium screen protector: microfiber cloth, alcohol wipe for cleaning, and some applicator to aid in putting it on. Each protector was individually wrapped. So good so far.
Now the bad. Both protectors I received were slightly warped; this means that the protector is not very thick. When applied, the warp goes away and does not affect the adhesiveness. What really annoyed me was that they decided to cut out a hole for the front camera; that in itself is not bad, but they decided to cut a U-shape out to the edge of the phone instead of just a circle. This, to me, is laziness or cost-cutting. This cut leaves a part of my screen unprotected. The second issue is that the part around the speaker hole are slightly bent and bubbled, making the protector not stick perfectly on the screen.
See my attached photo for these two issues.
Overall, I would give this protector a 7/10. The protector also shows a rainbow hue when seen from an angle. This doesn't bother me too much, especially when the screen is on, but I expected more. All in all, for $11 bucks for 2, it's not a bad bang for the buck but I'll probably try a SGP. Does anyone have a reveiw for the SGP? Does it cover the camera hole?
the Skinomi has the same outline for the camera.. I think it's standard for our phone..

Trust me when I say cutting the U instead of the circle is better. With the circle, if they just punch it out, it warps the material between the speaker and the camera, and leaves a bubble. iPhone 4 screen protectors are bad for this. The AT&T official screen protectors do this too, and it works fine.
I will be putting mine and the gf's on tonight..

IMO, this screen protector is way better than the Zagg one. I have one on my incredible and i love it. It's not rubbery and it feels just like the screen.

If you'd just look around a bit more, you'd find that the Ultra Fine for additional $3 is the anti glare and is also matte.
Looks like it's the one I wanted. I was hoping for something like iFrogz anti glare screen protection I've been using on my iPhone which it totally rocks. Don't like the InvisibleShield, it's still glossy. =P
Thanks for the heads up, going to order one now.
I'm getting one of these. This is the closest thing to the Verizon branded version, which I loved on my Droid, but the XOOM version doesn't cover the entire screen.
I was planning on getting a Zagg using a coupon code from another member here, but decided to do some more research on that product, and have been on the fence about getting it. Now my decision has been made.
If anyone wants the Zagg code, let me know. I'll PM it to you. You have to use it before Friday, I believe.

I was just about to post that one as well. Ordered an Ultra Fine one with the coupon. 28.94 total.
Thank guys! I just ordered the Ultra Fine as well. I like the idea of matte finish to reduce glare. Glare is ridiculous on the Xoom. My nook is much better about reducing glare. Anyway, thanks again! Hope the protector doesn't reduce vibrance of the colors nor clarity.
Man, I hate how much reflection the Xoom picks up. Unless, you're in a dark room, it's hard to see the screen sometimes. I love the idea of the Ultra Fine SGP. I don't think I've ever used SGP, but I know they have a good reputation.
If anybody could post a video, or screenshots of the Anti-glare when they get it, that would be great! I'm just holding off for now because I want to know if it reduces the screen quality much. But looking at YouTube reviews of this on the iPad, it greatly reduces glare.
Here's a good video review of *cough* other tablet's SGP Anti-Fingerprint...

Good thing I waited to get a protector, because this looks like it's just the ticket.
Ordered the Ultra Fine.
They are indeed high quality but there are visible scratches from swiping on the one installed on my Droid X just three months ago. Is this typical? Thus far I have no scratches whatsoever on the VZW protector on the Xoom.
And this is from someone who is fanatical about taking care of my electronics.

Yes, this is normal. I've had a Steinheil on my Incredible since May and there are multiple scratches but they're not unsightly. You have to take into account that you're not putting the Xoom in your pocket with various sharp/metal objects, so as long as your fingers and screen are relatively clean, you won't see those same scratches you do on your phone's protector.
I love Steinheil btw...

Thanks. That's why I asked -- I use a clean microfiber cloth to wipe regularly and it is kept in a case in my purse and never in a pocket. I was surprised at how easily it scratched from clean fingertips.
Oddly, I haven't seen a scratch yet on the VZW/Xoom and but expected to. Guess I am spoiled with Giottos AEGIS Pro LCD Screen Protectors for my DSLRs but they are made of German Schott glass.

Well mine's probably horrible compared to yours! I was also careful at first, making sure it was in pockets solely by itself, but after the first two or three scratches, I stopped caring. You got me thinking that I should put the backup that they sent on!
And on that note, only one comes for the Xoom, correct? I'm very obsessed about getting it perfectly laid without a speck underneath.

Yes, it is a single protector but I wouldn't be concerned - they are not fragile and easy to apply. Just be sure to find a very clean, nearly dust-free area and wash your hands well before application. I usually keep a lens blower handy as well as a couple of pieces of Scotch tape. I place the tape on opposite corners for easier control of placement.

Did you get the crystal or ultra fine? I ordered the ultra fine and hoping there isn't too much loss on viewing quality.

screen protector for galaxy tab

I just purchased one on amazon from ArmorSuit. Gotta be one of the best screen protectors out there. Way Way better then skinomi and the majority that is out there. 5/5 stars. Just my honest opinion. Want to help out those who are looking for something of quality. Go ahead and give it a try, you wont regret it.

Also want to say that their customer service is top notch. Love it.
Just got my Armor Suit and it is the best screen protector I've ever used. 5 stars.

Is invisible shield just not good anymore?
I think I'll try this Armorsuit...I just received the SGP screen protector....suck and overpriced..lucky I got it from Amazon...easy return service....
I got the Steinheil Ultra Crystal (SQ) and the fit (some air around the camera) and quality is really good (been using Steinheil screen protectors for years on my phones). I got my from Amazon.com and its kinda expensive but its like $21/year =).
This isn't the place I got my, but you can see all the different types.

couldn't find one here, hence bought a notebook screen protector and pruned it for perfect fit on my galaxy tab plus used the remnant for my phone.
I'm worried if I put an Invisibleshield screen protector on my GT 10.1 it will leave a permenant haze or film on the the screen when I decide to take it off. Can anyone offer any information? Thank you
I got this.

3x screen protectors for $10 shipped. They're matte. Fit almost perfect (1mm smaller than the actual glass to prevent lifting).
I dont see any reason for a screen protector other than wanting to have a matte screen to remove the glare.

Most of us actually prefer our screen (gorilla glass or not) scratch-free. Having a protector gives you ease of mind when rubbing a smudge or fingerprint off too.

I just installed that exact same one from the same seller. Fits perfectly, especially around the camera and ambient light sensor. It adds a little bit of a grainy texture to the display, but all anti-glare films I've used do that. Not sure if it's really got an anti-grease / oleophobic coating as mine has some decent fingerprints, but the matte surface hides it well.
Tip to line it up the first time: before you take off the backing, line it up how you want it. Scotch tape it 3x on one of the edges, preferrably the one with the pull-tab for the backing. Make a tape handle for the opposite end of the screen. When you're ready to install it, hold the tape handle and pull the backing off with the tab, then pull the handle tight as you lay down the protector.
Trust me, I went through at least 7 different screen protectors (I got the Asus, Acer, and Samsung) and this is by far the best one out there. Good luck.

How does it stack up against InvisibleShield and the other 3M Scratchguard types? I usually don't like the texture on those.
Don't know about the ones I've been hearing about in this thread, but I've got InvisibleShield on my Galaxy Tab 10.1 and I'm probably never taking it off. It works wonders and I have the same protector for my HTC Evo. Never need another screen protector once you go InvisibleShield.
I myself have been searching for a screen protector for my tab. I have the invisishield on my evo4g, and I find that it adds quite a bit of sticky friction to swiping, or any time you drag your finger across the screen. It's not so important on the phone as it would be on the tab, so here's my question:
What sp will offer some protection, but doesn't add much friction to the touch experience.
Appreciate the input!

The one I mentioned above is smooth. The matte finish makes it feel more like high gloss paper than glass. I'm considering buying a clear protector from the same company though as the "sparkly" effect that the matte finish adds to the screen (esp. things that are solid green for some reason) is getting on my nerves.
I have the zagg invisibleSHIELD maximum protection, is was a little skeptical at first but really like it now the i have had it on for a coupke weeks. There is more grip to the tablet now, but i can still slide my fingers over the screen with no issues. I will say this though, if you have never installed something like this take your time whrn installing it.

Apologies if it has already been asked, i may have missed it.
I'd like to have a specific anti-glare screen protector, the glossy screen is not bad but still very reflective, a part from the usual fingerprints issue.
Any product that suits my needs?

Looking for a Screen Protector

I'm trying to buy a screen protector preferably with a matte finish. I like the fact that its a smooth finish allowing for easy gliding with your fingers. I also looked up crystal clear ones but I do not know how they feel to the touch. Also I'm trying to look for ones with good cutouts (NOT like this: http://www.amazon.com/Fosmon-Anti-G...8-6&keywords=galaxy+s3+screen+protector+matte). Can anyone give me some input or links on amazon?
Have you looked into the Spigen SGP Flex HD screen protectors?
http://www.spigen.com/cell-phone/sa...3-screen-protector-steinheil-flex-series.html
It's wet application, so I don't know how comfortable you feel about installing them.

Do your fingers glide across it easily or does it kinda stick? I've put invisible shields on my phones before and I hate that its sticky (even when I first applied it) and the orange peel/yellowing effect
From what I know, the Flex HD is pretty smooth to the touch and you won't have to worry about any orange peel/yellowing effect because it's a high quality product.

I've been looking @ this:

Trying to look for the cheapest option available and this seems to have good cutouts. Any other suggestions?

not sure about the matte finish or the glide for you, but i can tell you i've had 3 screen protectors on my galaxy s3.
first there was the ZAGG. expensive, full body, etc. the screen protector was decent enough, very plyable and stretchy. uses that press and peel install method. cutouts for the phone suck though. they are cut-downs, not cut outs. more area is exposed than needed. i never did like the feel of it either once it was on. that and the store guy goofed the install, so...tore that off.
then there was the protector that came with Incipio case i bought. way different material. stiff and rigid, a harder plastic feel than the soft plyable ZAGG. i think this is that "crystal" type protector. but the cutouts were worse on this than the ZAGG. even more area exposed because of big cut downs on the top and bottom (lots of area exposed up top basically stretching end to end) i did install it though, and i liked the feel and glide more than the ZAGG. it seems more "slippery". unfortunately the top two corners never took (they are awfully pointy due to the big exposure up top). they seemed to be bent up in the packaging. and so that screen protector also came off (i do like the incipio case though).
now i'm onto the Skinomi. came with a skin. the cut outs are actual cut outs. no cut downs, no extra exposure. install was a little harder due to alignment, i swear i think they cut it small. i did get everything to line up eventually though. old school install with the spray bottle. material of the Skinomi is probably more ZAGG than Incipio-like, but it's not quite as plyable as the ZAGG. I do actually like the feel on my finger with the Skinomi. It's not the same feel as the Incipio though, it has a little more "sticky" to it than the hard protector did. pretty pleased with it tho, and it's working thus far.... :good:
anyway, if that helps, cool. if not, thanks for the vent.
Moshi is nice and anti glare... It does cover edge to edge but the blue trim covers up the blue pebble finish. I have the sgp nano optics on the way...

I picked up the Flex HD and installation went smooth. Only thing I didn't like was the spray bottle included which sucked. After installation, the screen is smooth as silk, very little "tug" or any of that yellowing effect. Best part is, it comes with 2:good:

Anyone plan to sell their second piece of their flex hd? =)
I saw in a review video from a guy who posted it on this forums said it had a rubber feel to it. I'm a swype user and I hate when my finger gets stuck because of that rubber feeling. When I felt matte for the first time, it glided so easily that I would never have problems swyping.

I was never a fan of Zagg products, until I had the HD screen protector installed on my S3. Perfectly clear, and its 100x smoother than regular Invisishield products. Id recommend it to anyone.
so I've had a chance to try a few different screen protectors already and I've found that the edge of the S3 display has a slight curve making it difficult for screen protectors to stay down.
the edges on 3 different sp's have done this. I've tried a full screen and then a few that were smaller than the display and still have issues.
The issue is that thick screen protectors just lift up off the curved display over time..
It sounds like wet SP installs are going good though?

I snagged the Incipio Sicrylic (sp?) off ebay. It's the soft rubber case with the two pieces. A snug rubber piece, and an outer "shell" that snaps onto the rubber case. Works really well actually. My daily case at the moment (better than the vent samsung with coin holder, and a straight skin from skinomi - i have the carbon skin)
I could post a link, but I'm a newb and so that's not allowed. I'll try to take a picture or sometghing and update this or my earlier post. Spent all this money on acc's...might as well share with folks so they don't have to repeat my mistakes....
and to the other poster who mentioned wet installs going well - i'll have to agree. vs the peel install on zagg, and the rgular install on the incipio crystal, i've ben happiest with my work and the protector after the wet install on the skinomi.

I am on my second flex hd and I am taking it off. It's been a week and the "rainbow-like" specks or clouds are appearing. It could be the adhesive that's turning into like colorful sandy appearance. Kinda annoying.
I ordered the Spectre but I am not gonna see it any sooner.
I've used dry application protectors on my other phones but its not going to work with the curved glass of GS3. Good luck.
Im using the Zagg HD, its smooth and installation went smooth.
