Is it ActiveSync 4.5? From the desktop, did you try deleting the device, then plugging it in again?
look at http://www.pocketprimer.com/ and there is a section about active sync.

Sync
I am new too this since I just got an HTC Touch Pro 2 after having a pocket pc for about ten years
It is crucial to me to synch with outlook calendar on PC and not just on myphone. Reason is I use the calendar on computer to book appointments.
No way could I get it to sync...using windows 7 home edition 64 and microsoft mobile synch thing. No problems with pocket pc though.
What I did was put it in wireless mode and then it synched no bother.
No idea if that was obvious but it synchs now
This is happening more and more and more lately! Here's another thread about it...........
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=668497
I am not sure if it's a phone issue or something to do with all the ROM updating....... I'm kinda scared after T-Mobile sends my new phone to do another ROM update.... cause WOW, this is happening a lot.
I have seen more to.....something to look out for this problem......scarry problem, i will call htc dutch
I unticked "Enable faster data synchronization" and then my phone synced.

Re-instal the computer: no luck

And i,m looking fore the stock dutch rom that i can load tru sd.....where can i find that one( i search but cant see him)
Dutch.......... I dunno........... lol, I had fun getting mine back stock on SD, PITA!!! Can you just download it again from your service provider? Like when T-Mobile in the US came out with 6.5 they had an option to DL it, that's what I used.

No Sync on Win 7 32bit Pro
I have the same issue with my work computer running win 7 pro 32 bit. No problem at home with win xp pro 32 bit, sync just fine. I do not sync anything at work, just use it to transfer file to and keep charged. Was working fine for months, then just just stopped being reconized by Win 7. I've tried all the suggested tricks, but luck. I even reloaded my pc at work, no luck. I plug it in to the Win 7 machine.....nothing. I Plug it into the Win xp Machine.....perfect!
Still searching for an answer........

Have you tried the search feature? I know this issue has been covered many a time. Since I haven't had this dilemma, I haven't done any research on it. Try the search function within the Excalibur forum with keywords to this problem.
Hi. I downloaded and tried to install the win mobile 6.1 rom update on my XV6900. I followed all instructions, then while it was updating the error code #328 said this phone could not install the update. Now I have the 3 colorful bars and 1 white bar. I talked with tech support @ Verizon and we tried everything. I am using Windows Vista so I use Windows Mobile Device Center. Is there anything I can do to get my phone back??? Please??
Thank you
you are at the bootloader menu & i doubt you have bricked your phone. so keep your head up.
what exactly are you installing & where are you getting it? What percentage of the update did it fail? Have you tried to run the update again? We will need some more information please.
The screen you are at is called the Bootloader screen. I would be optimistic that you can recover from this.
I'm not at home so I do not have acess to vista, but I know you need to make an adjustment within the active sync settings in order for it to work sometimes. I remember a guy on Youtube did a short video on how to Flash from Vista. try going there and see if the guy shows how to adjust active sync. Otherwise try an XP machine.
Edit: I think in WMDC on your PC. (basicly active sync) go into settings and make sure you untick "allow usb connection". Dont ask why but it worked for me. Then while your phone is in bootloader mode connect va USB and run RUU. I think I had a similar problem once and I just used an XP machine and it worked with no problems, then I found this adjustment in Vista.
Hi. I went to VZ site, xv6900 software MR1 link, to PCD site and downloaded zip file "RUU_Vogue-Vzw_WWE_3.14.605.1_Radio_3.37.78_Ship.exe". I extracted, followed directions, and it hung at about 12% I think. I wasn't watching too closely after I saw that it was working. Then the phone went black, blinked the red low batt signal once, and I got the mssg on PC #328, this update is not for my phone. I have tried the update agan several times, took out battery several times, rebooted PC all of these but only bootloader screen. I am a low-level tweaker, know a little, but this is new to me. I happy for all the help I can get. Thank you.

Does your phone have a low Battery? If so charge it to atleast 50%. Try what I mentioned above about Vista. I swear this happened to me a year or so ago when updating my Sprint Touch. All you need to do is run the RUU file from your PC.
THANK YOU. It worked to turn off USB in WMDC. Now I just have to sync again and reload my programs. The FED EX guy just dropped off my replacement phone too. Now I don't need it!! Which one should I keep? Thank you all. You are all AWESOME!! REALLY, which one should I keep? Is there a way to determine which is the better phone?

I put the applock on, i reboot, i double click the exe to run the dos thing, i allow my fone to run spl something, i click centre button, it says run the ruu ex, I do, and active sync disconnects before I can do anything else...Error 260...i can wait an hr an nothing happens. I've soft-reset, hard-reset, followed and understood and read every instruction but I just cannot get it to upgrade. The phones unlocked, the apps are unlocked. I've tried it without redoing the applock exe. I'm stuck. Any advice before I call it a day and keep my greedy wanting nature under control. All help much appreciated.

active-sync problem
well, ive followed every single instance from all the options available and everything goes fine until it gets to the actual updating point and then active-sync cuts off,10 seconds later i get error 260 saying im not connected. Ive left it all alone to see if it will update as the usb cable is still attached but no. I havent had this problem with any other phone update or unlock or debranding. Ive noticed on google that others have the same problem and they were told to leave it running and it will continue to update but on all the options ive left it overnight and it hasnt updated and neither has theirs. All help stops after everyone else has done what ive done, its too near xmas to drown my sorrows but, thanks for help n have a lovely xmas n new year
When you press the center button and the screen turns white do you hear the chime windows make when a USB device is disconnected?

Well, actually when you flash your activesync shut offs but your USB connection stills active, so that's normal.
Did you sda unlock your phone before you flashed?. You should do this every time you flash (well that's why I do), also make sure you remove your sd card; because these can cause error messages while you flash.
Other option can be try another PC or reinstall activesync, sometimes my laptop gets crazy and I get multiple errors when I flash, but when I use my desktop flashing goes smooth
yes I sda unlocked every time....i only have a lappy....i remove my sd card...i will uninstall n reinstall active sync.....I'll check out if any of my daughters' friends have desktops to see if I can do it that way. I shall try all that over xmas n new year n ill let you know how I get on. Many Thanx....

is there no update on this situation? because i am currently attempting to flash a rom for my friends dash and i am having the same connection error problems. and she has a windows vista laptop. i am not sure if that is what the problem is. convinced its not the cord. during the update process it just disconnects once it gets to about 3 percent.

Hey guys,
I've got a problem connecting my phone to the PC.
I am using Windows 7 64bit and HTC Sync is installed and should work properly.
The problem is that every time I try to connect the phone a tray notification pops up telling me :"Device driver software was not successfully installed.". The device does NOT show up as a removable hdd and is not listed in the device manager.
I really need to backup my data so I can send my phone back because it seems to have a software problem. It randomly tells me that my SIM Card isn't inserted and to solve the problem I have to open the phone, remove SIM and put it back in, sometimes even twice. Need ya help guys. Thanks
Noone who could help me with that?
I need to send it away tomorrow, so there isn't much time left. HELP
Thx

Have you tried un-installing HTC Sync 2.0.33 and re-installing? That is the first thing to do. When you've un-installed re-start your computer before re-installing.
If that doesn't work perhaps try HTC Sync 3? It's floating around on the forums and it's only a matter of days until the official release for the Desire is out.
I've just tried reinstalling HTC Sync 2.0.33 but didn't uninstall it first, so that's what I'm going to try now. If that doesn't work I'll try HTC Sync 3.0.
Hello,
i've got a problem like the title says. Everytime i connect my phone to the computer via usb, i get the message the device wasnt recognized by the computer. i tried everything i know, another usbport. etc. i want to install a new radio, but without connecting to the computer it isnt possible, because i dont have the usb debugging active.
i hope someone has an idea what i can do. i have rcmix 6.1.0.1 installed.
Are you using Windoze?
If you are unfortunate enough to be doing so then you might need to reinstall HTC Sync program (sometimes it works better if you completely uninstall it first including manually removing any left over folders and files in the application data folder.
thanks for the quick answer.
i tried it, but it didnt help. where is this application data folder? do you mean on the computer? i found after uninstalling no more folders from htc.
and yes i use windows home premium 64bit.
got another idea? now it says also the device does not function properly. i hope that nothing on the device is broken.

yes he is talking about your computer... if in the "program files" you hasn´t anythink about HTC SYNC,, ALL IS OK...
but enssure that in the configuration panel-system-dispositive administrator you hasn´t any drive installed for your android device... if you have installed it, erase or uninstall it before re-install htc sync or the htc drivers....then you can re-install and reboot windoux...
and hey buddy!I recommend to you to consider to pass to linux, you will not have this type of mistakes... LOL
UBUNTU is great!
I'm afraid I don't know much about Windoze but memory serving appication data is a hidden folder so you will need to change it to view them and is in the Documents and Settings / [Your username] directory.
Device not function is just a default Windoze error when it can't install something, ignore it, your phone is fine.
If you have reinstalled HTC Sync, try a USB port on the opposite side of the PC. So if you trying ones next to each other on the front, try ones on the back (they use different headers on the motherboard).
If that doesn't work then I'm afraid I probably won't be of much more use, sorry.

I've got the same problem with 2 different PCs, one with Win7 64-bit, the other with Win XP PRO.
Other devices work fine with the same USB ports, so i doubt it's windows or the PC...

you can´t flash any radio if your phone is not recognized
well.. Let's continue with the problem in question...
1.At some time could you have connected it?with the stock rom maybe?
2.have you tried to swich on mass storage usb mode?what´s the result?
3.when you tries to swich the phone for flash some radio you enables "usb debug"
and "only chargue"?
its a weird problem
Hey man, I've had the same problem with my old Desire (normal). Which was actually broken.. Went back to the store twice and it was sent to htc twice. But that one wasn't rooted tho. But in the end, the sensors were broken & something inside the phone that didn't recon the pc. But also try a full wipe, which helped temporarily for me.
1. yes i functioned, not only with stock rom, but also with the next few custom roms. but then 2 weeks ago the problem occured and i dont know why. before i used custom roms for months.
2. it also doesnt recognize the mass storage anymore, i dont see the memorycard as a storage device in explorer.
3. yes i turned usb debugging on and connected charging only, i flashed radios before. but the problem with the actual is, that my signalstrength is weak and so i wanted to flash the recommended for this rom, and so i recognized there is something wrong, cause my problem here occured.
normally i sync with myphoneexplorer so i didnt realize that mass storage didnt function anymore.
and because earlier i got no problems, i think more and more, that something on the phone went wrong.
maybe it helps if i go back to stockrom and undo all changes i made, to start all over again?
again thanks mate for your effort to help me out

you´re welcome companion
i reded in a spanish forum ( www.htcmania.es ) about your problem and there´s people that had the same problem with a S.GALAXY S & desire HD...
someone was solved it fullwiping and formating (in the paragraph of mounts & storage into CWM) and flashing another ROM... then they formatted their sd card with a card reader OF THE PC... later they was formatted the sd card from the pc and the problem was disapeared successfully...
BUT if it persists i think that you should (mi suggestion) send your machine to the thecnical service....
ok, will try this today evening when i'm home. if this doesnt work i will reset it in the orginial state and send it to the technical support. i will leave a comment if i was successful, perhaps this will help others with the same problem.
