Titanium Backup not working... - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I attached an image. I'm using Unrevoked. Also, the phone no longer asks me if I want to charge only or mount the phone as a storage device etc when I plug it in. It just starts charging and I can still browse all the files on the SD card through the Windows Explorer browser.

It sounds like your Evo is not reading your SD Card. Can you browse to it in a file manager?

I think I got it working now. Thanks.

Once I have everything backed up to /sdcard/Titanium do I copy that to my PC somewhere so if I decide to flash a custom ROM I would then copy it back onto the SD card and restore? Is that the idea?

You don't have to copy it to your PC. Flashing a new rom won't touch your SD Card unless your format it or partition it for Apps2sd

Has anyone used titanium to move from another device to the evo?
Coming from the hero, I'm wondering if I can put my hero's sdcard in the evo and go from there...

I did. When coming from my nexus to the evo. You need to make sure you format your Apps2sd partition (if you use one) though. Other than that, it worked fine for me

Exchanging micro SDHC cards?

How do I go about doing so?
Do I just duplicate the contents of my old SDHC onto a new one? Will nandroid via rom manager still work after the hot swap?

I keep all but one of my nandroid backups on my laptop to save size. Also, I keep a full backup of my sdcard on my computer as well for the day that my SD card eats crap (happened once on my Hero).
Unless you've got apps2sd enabled, you can just drag'n'drop the files. All the nandroid backups are located in the "nandroid" folder.
If apps2sd is enabled, you won't be able to drag the applications over, since the section of the disk they reside on is in a different format. I'll bet there's a way, but I don't know how to do it. I just backup all my apps with titanium backup and restore them after a card wipe (but first copying the titanium backup folder of course.)

You can backup all your apps(including a2sd) with nandroid using the Amon Ra Recovery.

This is tearing me apart!!!!
ESPRIMG not found error is usually fixed by reformatting your SD card, taking care to use the FAT32 format (not just FAT). Format your card and put everything you need back on it and try again...

Im a noob how do i do that.
I can't remember if it works to format the card with it in your phone or if you need to take the card out and plug it into your computer through a card reader .. think it works through the phone.
So plug your phone into you computer and make sure that the sd card contents are available through the computer (you might have to turn on the disk drive setting on your phone).
In Windows you would then right click on the drive for your phone's SD card and select format. Then make sure the format is set to FAT32.

Ok I've rooted every thing but I got a few problems
I get no cell phone service
And I want the slide rom not the nexus one and all I rooted for was to get the froyo ota for the slide that went unrealsed so if you can help I greatly love it thank you
heres the guide i used....

this is what i want....

If all you want is the official Froyo update then you can now go download it directly from HTC. See the Offical Froyo is out on HTC site! thread.
Note that following that path will remove root from your phone.
If you would rather keep root you have a few other options. There are a few sense rom variants including the one you linked to.
If you already have root and have installed rom manager then you shouldn't have any trouble using that to install a new rom, create backups, etc.
Not sure what your comment about nexus 1 meant? You certainly cannot install a nexus rom on the slide. Did you mean the Cyanogenmod ROMs?

There is nothing wrong with your card. The SD card error is a known bug with CM7. Deleting the LOST.DIR folder should eliminate the SD card error message. If you feel you want to format it anyway, go into recovery and select "wipe SD Card" if you're using amon RA as your recovery.

How do i get to the .lostdir? when i plug the phone into the computer it wont mount the sdcard. is that because its not formated for the phone?
this is the first time i've put a brand new sdcard in.
im on clockwork. should i flash to amon_ra for this?

Did you have CM7 installed PRIOR TO installing the new SD card or was the new card inserted before CM7? If the latter, a LOST.DIR folder *should* be on the root of the card. If not, it's no biggie, just know that the SD card error is a known bug. If the new card was inserted after CM7, then it may indeed need to be formatted thus the reason your PC is not recognizing it. The cards I have, were already formatted and readable when I purchased them. You could use the EVO to format the card for you in the settings-SD card & Phone Storage menu or it's equivalent in CM7 or you can go into recovery and format it. Either way is sufficient and effective.
neither format method i tried works.
ive had CM7 RC2 already running on the phone for a while(since early march)
most things worked fine.
until
ordered the new card and got the card yesterday.
took the old one out
put in the new
and then i get the errors.
can i screw anything up in Clockwork if i try unmounting and mounting and such?
also what is "format sd-ext"? do i need to do that?

Unmounting & mounting will not destroy anything in and of itself, however, the card must be mounted in order for you to format it. Format sd-ext means formatting that particular partition, but not the entire card. I recommend you switch to amon RA v2.3. The menus are, in my opinion, clearer and pretty self explanatory. You can format/wipe the entire SD card as well as partition it. You can download it from http://goo.gl/cgh5e
A detailed description of every menu can be downloaded from http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=516947&d=1297626700
To install it:
Place PC36IMG.zip on the root of your sd card.
Boot the phone into the bootloader by powering the phone down, then press the power and the volume down buttons at the same time.
Once the phone boots into the bootloader the phone will automatically recognize the zip file. It will ask if you would like to update, select yes and let it do it's thing and you will be good to go

You're very welcome. Enjoy your weekend...
wow.
ok i put my old original card back in and flashed CM7 RC4
put the new "unworking" sdcard in
and boom
worked seemlessly. except when i plug into the computer there are only 3 folders. can i just make a music folder?
so i guess the issue was RC2?
i also updated cwm from 2.5 to 3.0something so i could flash amon from rom manager.
but never did anything with it
yeah man. Enjoy your weekend too!

I do recommend amon RA v2.3. It is a very solid recovery. I also recommend that you do it manually. The installation takes less than 10 seconds. Furthermore, it's a good idea to familiarize yourself with wiping & flashing from within recovery. Anyway, I'm glad you got everything taken care of. Take care, my friend....

Question about NANDROIDS

I'm almost positive that this question can be answered with common sense...but just in case:
My SD card is running low on memory and I was wondering about whether or not I can delete the ROM .zip folder from my SD card after flashing it. Or does the .zip folder need to be on the card for the ROM to boot up? Any help would be great. Thanks in advance!

Yes you can if you have already installed the zip. You can also remove nandroid backups if you have them on your computer. You can push them all back to the phone while connected and in recovery.

Thank you. I don't really mess around with adb just because my computer and my phone do not get along at all. It won't even recognize my SD card when I connect it through the phone. I have to put the card in a special SD card reader.

Actually if you're using Amon Ra recovery (recommended by every dev I've seen), you can access your sd card on your pc using the "USB toggle" menu option. (Saved me once when I accidentally wiped my sd card before flashing a new rom).
Of course if you still can't access the sd using that option, then that's a hardware issue, yes?

Titanium Backup
A great way to do this is to use titanium backup. You'll need root to use it though. Look for it in the market.
Install;
Backup to sd card.
copy everything to a computer including hidden files.
copy again just in case.
put the old sd card in a safe place.
copy everything to the new card.
insert the card into the phone
turn the phone on.
if anything is missing,
batch restore in titanium backup.

Everything will be missing as the ext that symlinks all the apps will be empty. With some a2sd+ scripts, the.phone won't even boot if this is the case.
Then you get these huge sense roms that shift part of system to ext. There is no way titanium could fix that
The method I mentioned is tried and tested as the best, most consistent and completest way to do this with an ext partition

Since you obviously don't know how to, I suggest opening a new thread on it, like the op here did.
No seriously, create new thread button should be disabled for n00ns.
