If you already have this phone in hand, could you do a favor and drop me some files from /system, namely the video player and any other files/apks possible... RootExplorer might do the job, no root required (at least not on my phone).
Trying to port some apps/drivers, but since i dont own this phone - its proving to be difficult =)
Thanks for the help!

Deodexed? damn i'm so new to android.. thought i understood wm6.5 (rom building) pretty well.
I've downloaded it three times. Every time I received errors when I tried to unzip it using 7zip - error: Unsupported compression method.
Any suggestions?

downloaded, extracted, no error... must be something on your side
What program are you using to open the file?
7z, probably same as you...

Well... This sucks...
I have downloaded it four times. I have tried WinRar and 7zip and both give the same error messages for all downloads: Unsupported compression method.
I downloaded the Framework and it opened up just fine.
Can someone post a separate d/l link for the dump? Maybe, on another service? Then I'll try again.
@frifox - thanks for your quick replies. Can't imagine what the issue is. MY IS provider has three data transfer rate plans and I'm on the third (second fastest of the four). And, it appeared to d/l pretty quick with no issues/interruptions.
might be good idea to try upgrading 7zip to the latest one... i used the max compression rate when packing the dump.
I'm using 4.65... Are you using the 9.15 beta?

BTW, can you get you hands on the GPS files? It's a just a hunch, because there isn't nothing known yet about the GPS that's on the tab, but maybe it's the same one as on the Galaxy S.
Files that are interesting are:
From the directory system/etc:
gpsconf.etc and jupiter.xml
From the directory system/lib
libgps.so (and maybe other files containing the word gps, maybe libsecgps.so
From the directory system/bin/gpsd
glgps_samsungJupiter and the *.cer files

Don't know but I'm definitely going to try it. Case_ extracted the same files from the new Captivate fw rom, where they are working on a fix, and it did also work for the galaxy. (Of course this is a froyo rom, but anyway..)
I will report back.
Wow that would be great! but i don't think it is a software problem! but a driver/hardware related issue!
But that's just my point of view Great work anyways!
I´d be very grateful if you could upload the whole factoryfs (extracted)

I don't know if you followed the latest discussion about the Captivate FW, but the weird thing is that the upperlimit of a maximum of 10 locked satellites was gone and the weird constraints was gone that there wasn't a lock possible on sats with a signal noise ratio < 20 . They did accomplished that only with a change of drivers.
But if all will be fixed in the end, is something we have to wait for.

On 2.1.. I'm now going to try it on JP3 ... BTW I'm trying also the new modem.bin from the tab fw on it and definitely going to try the kernel later on.
Okay people, its done!
This is the procedure and firmware package for a single-step flash to DXJPA using Odin:
http://touristinparadise.blogspot.com/2010/11/samsung-galaxy-s-how-to-install-froyo.html
If you flash using that procedure, you should get a 'stock' DXJPA phone will all DX-series CSCs. Unfortunately, it *will* do a factory reset / wipe data.
DXJPA is the official Froyo for the Southeast Asian region: Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines.
DXJPA is tricky because it really needs PIT 513 (it's the only ROM, as far as I know), probably because the /system partition size needs to be very big for the carrier customizations.
I've basically combined the missing parts from DXJPA with the files from the original DXJG4 and used the correct PIT.
Bro, thanks. now downloading from multiupload site. going to try flashing directly through odin1.7 with pit513 directly and will report back to see if successful or not.
btw, time to change your signature?
p/s: is it okay to use your k7 kernel on this rom?
edit: looking at the downloaded file from Richtofen, the modem.bin is missing. hmm....
edit2: after reviewing, i am using your package to flash.
No bro, you should use my download link. All the other packages have the wrong dbdata and the CSC wont work properly - unless u do the 2 step from DXJG4 to DXJPA.
Hey bro. Did you find any significant changes between this ROM compare to ADJP5 like does it work better with your kernel? Just curious.
Thanks!

ADJP5 is from another region. The DX series is for Southeast Asia. And yup, it works with my kernel too - all Froyo ROMs work.

yeah, i notice a huge difference in the dbdata.rfs as well as the cache.rfs. The cache.rfs should be containing all the bloatware apps i presume.
now flashing, almost done now.

Someone needs to work on customizing this ROM so we can save more space.
hmm, seems to get stuck at bootup screen, but no black screen yet. will wait a bit longer, and get into recovery to wipe cache, do a factory reset.
edit: just booted up. haha...

For those of you that want to get in on early GB development but don't have the skill to compile it from source, I compiled the new source code that dropped for the gingerbread build for the Sprint Tab. This is NOT an installable rom. This is a zip containing the compiled AOSP kernel and system, purely for research/development purposes. Download, unzip and play. I doubt this will boot on a CDMA device without the proper bootloaders, but you're welcome to try. You can even develop AOSP roms from it that will probably run on your tab after the update on the 5th. Enjoy.

1.working skype video calls!
2.Working hulu!
3. Last but not least, Working Netflix!
it would make the tablet experience so much better for us CDMA owners.

I guess I should add: you'll need the driver libs to get this running... you'll have to gank what you can from the gsm GB build. Stuff in /system/lib/hw and /system/lib/egl and so on. Just compare and you will get the idea.

I've looked but I would really like to find a complete list of what all the apk files are along with what they represent in Gingerbread 2.3.x.
Mainly for the purpose of replacing /system/app files with versions out of necessity or for purely esthetic reasons.
Ummm maybe read calks bare rom converter?
That is only a list of stripped apps from his rom. I would like a list of all the apk files AND what they represent.
For instance, Camera.APK is the Camera App (pretty obvious).
However, ChocoEUKor.APK is not as obvious.

2nd: Those are the patha I'd go diggin. Maybe gonna explain a bit closer/have a closer look tomorrow. Got to sleep now.^^
Amything new here? Have you already searched in the fokders I "mentioned"?
I'm back and trying to get this working once more. It is so odd that the way they got this working on the G2 and G3 does not work on ours. It makes me think that the stock LG ROM with lollipop for the G Pro is just a bunch of hacks LG threw into a zip file which just makes this even more difficult. I'm not going to give up yet though. If anyone else has any suggestions please PM me. I would gladly appreciate more ideas.

I am pretty sure the odex files are generated when the ROM is installed. This means I need to have someone who has the ROM working to get them to me.. The zip only has the files from the system partition.
