Hey guys, so my friend was telling me about overclocking and underclocking today and I was very interested. However from searching I have found mixed results. Although, I have found out there is no application for the Rhodium, YET!
Questions to be answered:
What is a good amount to overclock to without it being dangerous to the device?
Overall, is it a good idea?
Most importantly, Why hasnt someone not already came out with this?!

If you had searched you would have found ...... this quite accessible ... the only ROM that comes with one is .... this ...
But I think you need to do a fair bit more reading and searching before you go ahead and flashing stuff if you think touchflo is a ROM
Hehehe, thanks alot Zocster...Believe it or not, i did actually search and ive been reading alot of posts! Im not 1 of those forum idiots who randomly posts messages without reading anything...
However, i am TOTALLY new to this world! I decided to ditch the trusty old cell phone and move to a pocket pc/pda phone whatever you wanna call it I have decided on a TyTN and am now getting into the world of cooked ROMs and all the stuff you guys know all about
Im learning!!!

I seeI have an imate jasjam, so yeah you have a front camera I presume you would want to make video calls too then, so may be that ROM i mentioned not for you as it doesn't have video calling dial pad cooked in.
To be brutally honest, Ive had a Sony Ericsson K800i for a year and a half now and have NEVER used the video calling feature Our networks are rather unstable and its expensive, so why bother Im just looking for a fast, reliable ROM

Let me see then ... you have ten or so ROMs to try out took me two months to go through about 30 from pays, tnt, binky11s, now crc and pdacorner as my favs. You need to know what works for you, make sure you read the wiki, you don't want to kill your new toy ey ...
Welcome by the way .. saw it was your second post oh by the way, go the wallabies, even though i live in new zealand! hehe .. and this is for the trinations!
Much obliged Zocster!!!
Thanks alot for your help...I know that forum noobs are often ignored or flamed lol!!!
The problem i have is being a complete newcomer to this stuff...I honestly dont know where to start, I was hoping there would be a poll with "your favorite ROM" or something, then at least id have somewhere to start

Sorry mate, honestly, ... trying it yourself is the only way you can judge, read the wiki, and try out different roms, as i said what is good for me may not be good for you. So go try them all out and make up your mind from experience. I have had my phone for two months and I have been through honestly about 20 or so roms before i made up my mind, each chefs have got their own style and yeah you need to determine what style suits you.
Thanks alot, will definitely do so
One more question...In my research on the P4350 which uses the 200mhz OMAP cpu, i read that there is an app to overclock (and declock) the device, does the TyTN have a similar app??

If you want to keep your device for another couple of years, then no, it is not recommended. it is doable, but it would not be doing your device any favour.
Well since the reviews i read all said the TyTN is powerful enough, im actually more interested in declocking the device when i dont need the power, to save battery life

hmm, you need to try the roms available, and once you get applications such as BT GPS, BT Stereo, MP3 etc going, plus the touchflo extension you mentioned, it ain't all that powerful.
These chefs have done their best to make the most out of a device that is 2 years old. so ... yeah it isn't that powerful, but yes you will determine that when you have run a couple of things on the hermes have fun, ...
Starbase has the cab on his 4shared site. I have had it before, but find it useless, the touchflo that schaps has is better for finger scrolling and quick landscape mode switches however.
Good to see more South Africans here. (From South Africa myself). As Zocster said, just try the roms out. Been flashing my TyTN at least once a week. Just remember to Hard-SPL first.

Glad someone remembered.....
lol thanks guys!!!
Been reading the guides and the wikis, will definitely hardSPL first
first of all make hardspl ! it is the first thing you need to flash into your tytn....what you meen about -toch flo- ? many component may be instaled on any rom. personaly I use 3ppc.net russian 6.1 rom, whith htc home today plugin (one part of tochflo) included. for finger scroling I use ftochFlo, cube not use at all - personaly I found it useless....(anyway - there are some custom cube on 'hacking and developing' section of developers, as for me it much better than original.)
about overclock. sumsung procesors (which use tytn) is wery bad in frequency control. looks like time generator somehow connected whith main frequency - when you changing it, a lot of bugs appear....for example - if you overclocked cpu, you will notice that music/video/e.t.c. will run more fast that it needed. no need to worry about cpu power consumtion - it low anyway for samsung cpu. much more buttary will eat 3g, wifi, backlight e.t.c.

Welcome to the board. You gotta be careful of that question. You have like 30 chefs on here and you're probably going to get flamed for not researching. I guess the best way to decide which ROM is the best is to decide what you want to use your device for. Then start reading. Or you could cook your own. Before I started cooking, I used JoshKoss, CRC, Mick Smith's. They are all good. Just read my friend.

WHOA WHOA slow down you over-achiever. Take a deep breath. Now, this should be your first read. It has a BUNCH of info. The site has a WIKI also that answers a ton of stuff. Yes, I have a Yahoo ID. It's in my signature, just send an invite.
lol...yes indeed. Your question is almost begging to be flamed. Though you may also get lucky and get away with it Like the above poster said there isn't anything like a specific 'best' ROM for a phone. Its a personal preference. The wiki is an excellent place for you to get started on getting to understand everything you need to know about you phone. Use the search option for any question you have. Your bound to find relevant results on almost any type of search. Happy reading and welcome to the board.

sorry guys,, newbees fault...
after i got the first answer i have found teh WIKI.. no bad intentions here...
i just saw so many ROMS... and i hardly know what they are.. just now trying to find out.. somebody enlighten me pls..
i am reading, reading..
thanks..
Start with CRC's rom.. good, fast, stable
This cant be flamed, BTW!!!! this can be great apreciatted.
I meet many designers and has magic on their hands (and HD's full of tricks on photoshop's projects!) well if you want to start... you can talk with joshkoss, CRC, abuzalsa and many others... cause at this time they are trying to change some icons in .PNG and .ICO full glossy pics maybe 32 x 32 or less like the Notification Icons in upper bar... so talk to him about your skills maybe you can give us new Icons or something... read about the images on the ROMS... what extension, or what kind, sizes, and wheigts...
Hope you can find your work here.
I saw this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=596925
...and it got me thinking. (I know scary right?) ...but it would be a good idea to have benchmarks for all the roms out there. That way, you could actually see hard numbers to see the real differences between the roms. Now, I know nothing about the benchmark programs out there, so I was wondering if anyone had any experience on which ones were better than others. A quick search turned up
http://www.smartphone-freeware.com/tag-_benchmark.html
http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/benchmark
http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/Developer-Tools/Benchmarks/
http://www.pocketpcfreeware.mobi/tag-benchmark.html
So, my question is, anyone have any experience with any of these or something better? I wouldn't mind running some benchmarks myself to see the difference in performance between some of the roms.
Hmmmmm...
I thought for sure someone would reply to this. After further searching, seems like spb benchmark might be the way to go. Now, wouldn't it be a good idea to have benchmarks for all the roms? I would love to see the performance differences between them all. Any input?
HI Dougstoner,
Short answer here is probably no. At least that is the answer I got when I suggested a Rom Wiki that had a user rating system. I was told that cooks would not want to see how their roms compared to others.... go figure.
I think it is a great idea. I am thinking about making the wiki.. when I have time. So if you do these benchmarks I would love if you would share them there...
I think this is valuable info. Especially for those with limited time.
Thanks. And goo luck!

What's up Cameraddict? Thanks for the response btw...
Well, I'm not trying to have users rate the roms, I would just be interested in the performance differences between them all. I have installed spb benchmark, but it takes 30 mins to run the benchmark, so I'll have to wait until I get home first. I'll run it tonight, but I think it would be a great resource for everyone to see. How much easier would it be to see which roms actually run faster, or which one has better drivers for graphics? I think it could be used as a tool to see if there are improvements in rom updates, drivers, etc...
Also might help the cooks out to see which versions work better than others as far as functionality goes. Again, my intent is not to say one rom is better than others, just to see the specs of them.
I'll run it tonight and test the rom I'm currently using, but if enough people want to see this, I might start doing it for all the roms.
I'd be interested in reading about your comparisons.
actually i was wondering about other tp2 users' benchmark results also and started this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=586598
but only 2 people replied. and one of them had much higher results than me using a custom rom which kind of explains why this is important.
needless to say i think it's a great idea too and i will share my results when i get spb benchmark
Would be interesting to know how big of a difference a rom can make.

I've thought about this as well. I have a lot of experience with Wikidot and their modules, and could assist in building a system for users to review and rate ROMs, and various means of categorizing them if you're interested in some help.
I think it would be a great resource.
This is a great idea. I am willing to bench the custom rom I am using and report it in.
okay so i am recently changing over from android. and i understand i can have best of both worlds on this phone. if anybody would be kind enough to tell me how do i get android on my phone. and also how do you install roms. i really like the energy-roms. links to these items would be greatly appreciated. thanks guys. im a noob at this so please bear with me im new to windows phone. thanks & God Bless.

Thanks. i hit google last night and didnt go to bed till i found the info i needed. and i came across all of those pages except for the android one.
by the way. are you using a rom? if you are which one are you using and is there another that you recoomend me to use?
Thank you. Hope your next few days are filled with joy. God Bless.
Well generally what say is what most will say, after you have used the Hard sPL unlocker, i would recommend a simple Rom that has been stripped of all the bloat ware, to get a feel for the speed and responsiveness , then after you get bored with it, then try the other Roms that the fine chef have cooked.
Here is what i have been using, its simple and fast
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=811121
Kwbr is getting ready to update the Rom shortly with a newer version.
thanks i was getting stuff ready for when i my parents got me my phone this chirstmas. turns out the got me a unlocked HD2. so im guessing it works the same, since they both run windows 6.5 right?
I would head over to the HD forum and start reading, some may be the same but there will be differences ...i would still set up both phones with stock stripped Roms and compare them both...i still favor the Tilt 2 Pro... because of the keyboard
http://www.infosyncworld.com/review...Tilt+2&name2=&name3=&name4=HTC+HD2+(T-Mobile)
Read this thread then decide....tilt 2 has 3g the HD2 uses edge..

Agreed.
In unrelated news, sjpritch25, what are your voltages set at with the 1.7 oc speed? I'd like to learn more about acceptable voltage settings and I'm a little scared to venture into it too much. Thanks in advance
