Faulty screen - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Hello,
I've got a problem with the screen of my Qtek 9090 as it doesn't seem to be displaying colours properly and there are lines going across the screen and text at times.
Would someone have any idea of what the problem might be and if it's fixable?
Here are a couple of images of what I'm getting. Quality isn't great but I hope it shows the problem well enough.

that looks like a hardware defect, you can use the htc service manual linked in my signature to disassemble the device and look for problems with the display's connectors, cables and possible pressure on the display/digitizer or anything related to the display. a good way to test that would be to take away any housing and start the device, that way you can carefully bend the cable in normal angles and see, when it happens.

Touch screen problem after switching LCD

Hi,
a while ago, I cracked my Uni's LCD. So I ordered a new one including the digitizer, opened my Uni and swithched the displays. Now at times, the touch screen wouldn't work at all - unless I tap the upper left corner (the start button; in portrait mode) or the lower left corner (the left button or slightly above it; in landscape). After that, tapping everywhere works normally. Does anyone have an idea what this could be caused by or how to solve it?
Thanks in advance!
I'd make sure your contacts are very clean. If you think maybe they're not, then take out and clean contacts with dry cloth or contact cleaner and re-insert.
Also, make sure there's no debris around screen. That nothing is pressing on digitiser anywhere else that gives false postive for it.
enigma may be able to help you better, I think she's more accustomed to the HW
Generally, all touch problems are associated with a digitizer. Without actually seeing your device I assume your digitizer is faulty and the problem may be either improper adhesion or the soldering joint improperly formed. Adhesion problem may be resolved by warming the screen with a blowdryer, no need to get it hot, just slightly warm all over and smooth with a soft cloth as if you are applying a screen protector, it loosens the special sticky gel that attaches the digitizer to the LCD and usually helps in cases where sensitivity is sporadic or screen calibration returns wrong response. Check for any bubbling, although not seen when the screen is viewed directly, some may be noted at the angle.
However, in your case there are certain points that need to be pressed in order for it to work, so I take it, the screen works most of the time and the problem is intermittent, the corners that need to be pressed might be the ones where adhesion is not up to scratch.
Try re-assembly, if all fails - contact the screen supplier, faults can happen, especially in non-OEM parts.
Do keep us updated if you find the solution, I am sure all members can benefit.
Problem solved
Well over time, the situation changed so that the touch screen didn't work at all, unless I was pressing one spot above the LCD fairly hardly, at which time it worked without problems. Once I stopped presing the spot, it stopped working again.
So I tried opening the Uni and disconnecting and reconnecting the LCD FPC (which was located just under the spot that needed to be pressed), which seems to have solved the problem

Help - Daughter broke LCD on her G2

Help - Daughter broke LCD on her G2 :-(
So we ordered a new one from Repairsuniverse.com and meticulously followed their instructions. Everything appeared to go very well and the screen worked afterwards. There was however a faint strange blue spot in the center of the screen. 2 days later the brightness stop working. Now the screen is very dim and can be only read the dark room. When I contacted the supplier they attempted to blame it on the motherboard.
Any ideas? My daughter wants her phone back :'(
It sounds like the backlight for the screen went bad. It may be a loose connection to the motherboard though. I would try to disassemble the phone again and make sure the ribbon cable from the screen to the board is tight. If it is and there is still a problem, it is probably the screen.
Thanks... Appreciate any and all input.
If the ribbon is loose, I would think that the screen would work intermittently or not at all though. Instead it works consistently, only dimmly and won't brighten or respond to brightness control
I would tend to think so as well, but I have seen some strange things for cables being just slightly loose. If you feel comfortable disassembling and reassembling the device I would suggest it just to rule out a loose cable.
You may just have to fight with the LCD supplier to get a replacement though.
Thanks again for the input. I definitely feel comfortable enough to take it back apart. We already had to do a complete breakdown once before in order to replace the LCD. Now the LCD works but it's stuck on the lowest setting.

[Q] HTC Desire Screed Display Problem

My screen turns to random color from pinkish to red and purple to monochrome(black and white). It started when I highlighted a text into my message box and then suddenly it turns to pinkish red display. And then everyday the color changes randomly. Here is the display.
Hi,
does it also happen while boot, or when you in recovery, etc... ?
If yes, it is probably a hardware issue. If you are under warranty, send it there.
If no, you can try to disassemble and check the connectors if all is firmly in place.
I also read once about a broken display. Spares can be found on ebay, etc.
Yes it happened also while booting. I am not sure what to do with this problem if there's just wrong with the amoled adapters or i need to buy amoled display.
Hi,
well if you think you can manage it, you can disassemble it. How to's can be found on youtube.
Check if anything is loose. But be careful not to break any thin wire.

[Q] Back light only comes on after replacing LCD and Digitizer

Hello, and I appreciate everyone who has taken a look at this post.
I recently replaced my LCD and Digitizer. A couple of months ago I dropped my phone into the bilge(bottom of a boat) filled with oil. When this happened the digitizer had a crack in the corner and the LCD got flooded with oil, not to mention the phone. I took of the back cover and let the oil drain out. I didn't open up the housing or anything. I soaked up as much oil as possible. Still though, half of the screen was a few shades darker and difficult to read text messages and playing games were out of the question. Everything else was fine, the OS didn't slow down and I saw no signs of rust anywhere.
During the holidays, I got the digitizer and LCD. So I followed the video on youtube from this website on how to take apart the Xperia Play. I replaced the LCD and I used the same adhesive strip over again with the digitizer. Now when I turn on my phone, it vibrates, but the back light comes on periodically for about 2-3 seconds and then turns of. And then a few minutes later the back light will turn on and turn off again. i get no picture from the LCD. I have turned it off and on a few times. Same thing. I have also tried turning it on while holding the power button and random combinations of the other buttons. I plugged it into my pc and when the back light goes off, my computer detects a device but shortly after losses it.
I have read through other threads to see for similar stories. The only thing i can think of is maybe, I damaged the strip of the LCD or i fried my mother board. I just would like to know if it is another problem or if anyone has some good solutions for this.
If anyone can help me, it would be greatly appreciated. I love this phone and this n00b needs some help. Lol.
If it was just oil you dropped it in then the electronics will probably be fine as it is non conductive so the problem probably lies somewhere else. I do many phone repairs, mainly to iPhones, HTC's etc, but I have never done an XP so not too sure on specifics but what you describe would probably be ribbon cable related, either not a perfect connection or slightly damaged. It only takes a slight nick on the ribbon to render it useless. I replaced a digitizer on an HTC sensation once and the phone did exactly the same as what you describe. I took the new one off and put the old cracked one back on and the phone was normal again.
Dunno how much that helps but hope it's of some use

Screen fuzzy and distorted starting today

Hey everyone!
Today something started happening to my phone's display. The picture is visibly brighter, and the brightness seems to be originating from the bottom two corners in a U-shaped manner. Moreover, when I look closely at the screen, it's fuzzy - you can see the horizontal lines that the image is comprised of kinda "twitching". I'm not sure what this might be.
I attached a photo so you can see the general idea of what's going on.
Any suggestions on what to do to get rid of this would be appreciated.
Cheers!
Just to exclude a software influence: Does the effect persist even after reboot? If so, even in recovery? It might again be a faulty cable (the one which transfers data to display and digitizer). I read about a lot of cases on the internet where replacing that cable solved issues with screen and digitizer.

Actually, I kept my phone off for a few hours and this issue seems to be gone now. I have no idea what might have caused it...
