Hello.
I'm pretty sure i bricked my HTC desire yesterday when trying to flash LeeDroids Mod. My phone hangs at the three green HTC letters and it has been like this the whole night. I've tried taking out the battery and things like that but it still hangs. Even when triyng to do a recovery. So i searched the forum to find out how to unbrick the phone and i found a nice thread that explains how to get acces to the SD again and then how to unbrick the USB connection. But I havent been able to try this out yet since i cannot find out how to enter commands when in fastboot. I know I need to be connected with a USB-cable to the PC, but what else do I have to do?
Hope someone can help 'cause I would really love to have my HTC Desire working again so that i can try out more cool FroYo mods from this lovely forum.

you have to use adb, google the android sdk and start there
All you need to do is boot into FASTBOOT, plug in your USB and run an RUU to get back to stock (assumg one is available for your phone) and then root again, had to do it myself the other day
you do not have to do ANY of this
if you are using clockworkmod or any custom recovery then there is the option to mount USB storage in which you can put on a backup or any other rom onto your sd card, unmount usb storage, and flash it, all in one.

Do you have the fake-flash zip file renamed as update.zip and at the root of your SDCard?

Have you booted the phone while holding the volume down and then selecting recovery, then when recovery boots, press volume up and power then select "apply update.zip" ?
The problem is that when i choose recovery it freezes aswell. The screen with the phone and the little red triangle freezes, so i cannot choose recovery.

So do what I said here...to get into FASTBOOT hold back and power it on
What is RUU?
Edit: Maybe I need someone to make a step by step noob guide? Im totally lost. Ive flashed my Desire lots of times before and ive never had a single problem, but right now i really dont know what to do and how to do?
If you're asking questions about RUU's then maybe rooting wasn't for you. It's basic stuff. You need a grasp of the basics before trying something advanced!
Basically it's the official ROM file from HTC/your phone vendor...
Okay. Thanks. I thought that RUU was something like that but I just couldnt see how i should be able to acces any files right now. As i wrote before the phone freezes at the picture of a phone with the red triangle, and i am not able to get any further that that. I would really appreciate if anyone could tell me how and what to do next?
I had the same problem a few days ago. For me it worked to just go through the rooting process again, you can find the steps on modaco (just step 1 of r6), I can't link them at the moment I'm at work and it seems I can't open modaco from here.
Anyways if you follow step 1 you can access the recovery again and the phone will boot past the HTC logo screen.
Also these steps are well documented on modaco.
Try this first since it will save you the step of running the RUU, which I wasn't able to (somehow the software complained my battery was below 30%, which it wasn't)
Good luck hope this solves it for you.

You don't need to go into recovery! boot into FASTBOOT and then leave it at that. Plug the phone in and it will then say FASTBOOT USB. Then run the RUU your phone came with originally. You don't need to go anywhere near Recovery
I am pretty certain that ive found a solution now. I deserve a fist in the nuts for being so stupid not to press volume up + power when trying to get into recovery mode. But fortunately dnlgee asked if i had remembered this. Now that ive gotten this far i should be able to solve the rest. I will however return if im still unable to solve it.

Ah I missed that part, I couldn't access recovery either. Only thing left working was fastboot for me. All other options would hang on the HTC logo screen.
Hello,
I was trying to flash a new Rom onto my phone (Superfly) and installed the .zip file from clockwork, however, when I try to boot the phone, it sticks at the Mytouch slide screen.
I cant load into the card nor the phone.
Is there any way to reverse this?
Thanks in advance!
Hopefully you made a backup. You should still be able to boot into recovery and restore your backup or even flash a new rom.

The problem the OP and myself are having is that we cant load Clockwork recovery, and I think its cause when we flashed the new rom, it did away with USB debugging mode, and now we cant get back into the OS to select it again. I too am stuck in this loop, and I might just have to bite the bullet and bring it in to tmo and tell em it just stopped working for no reason...

The USB debugging option means nothing while booted in to recovery. If you haven't flashed the engineering rom before you will need to redo the loop/ota.zip/update.zip spoof to get back in to clockwork.
I did do a nandroid backup, but the phone magically can not find it now. And It took forever to get to work, but I was finally able to get back into clockwork and tried to install another a different rom (Kanged CM6 ROM) but ended with the same results of sticking on the mytouch slide startup screen. Frustrating, because it probably took about 3 hours to get back into clockwork!
Any other suggestions???
wipe everything on the phone, find the thread that walks you through that

As was noted previously, if you haven't flashed the ESPRIMG rom, you're basically looking at re-rooting your phone every time you want to install a different rom. This means going through the whole process again and again and again.

thats weird, cause before I could get into clockwork after 2 tries max, not I tried repeatedly for 10 mins and it didnt work, so I should just keep tryin to get into clock work then?
Yes, keep trying. And when you do, please flash the engineering rom and keep the proper update.zip on your card! It will save you a lot of trouble in the long run.

will do, theres alot of assumptions around here tho, and newbs to android are kinda expected to know things without them being stated in the threads..
Now I know theres something that makes it so I dont have to go thru the pain of rooting to get into clockwork I'm def gna use it..
what method should I use? Ive been doing the following and no luck so far
1 - cd to android sdk tools folder
2 - vol down + power for recovery
3 - highlight recovery
4 - run loop in cmd
5 - plug usb into phone
6 - plug usb into pc, and before it changes to HBOOT from USB i hit power to select recovery
7 - adb devices sees it as an offline device for a few cycles, then it disappears.
after step 7 I've tried running update.zip
unplugging and plugging back in
ctrl+c to stop the script when its offline
unplug when its noticed as an offline device
whats the best way to get into it now?
======
EDIT - finally got it into recovery, i loaded up htc's recover with it plugged it to the pc so it loaded up HBOOT from USB
normally your are not bricked if:
1. you can boot into recovery
2. you can not boot into recovery yet you can boot into bootloader [HOLD (power + volume down) to boot]
Don't worry I got a black/blank screen of death the other day for flashing the wrong boot.img fortunately I was able to boot into bootloader and start from scratch using the ESPRIMG.zip

I agree to an extent, but if you take the time to read through things thoroughly (as in every post in the How To Root or Engineering Build or even Rom Bible thread), you'll be okay. This is my first Android device as well. I put off rooting for a solid couple of weeks while I read through everything I could. I was completely paranoid about bricking my phone. Eventually, I went for it. Even then I had a couple hiccups along the way (including have to re-root two more times), but all the information is here.
So an update:
I went to a Tmobile retail store to see if I could do a direct swap and am having a new phone sent out to me. I will definately take all the replies into consideration when starting the root process on my new one! My final question is, since I am afraid Tmobile will not find my phone valid to be replaced under warranty due to it being rooted, is there any way to unroot and go back to stock? I have googled it, but cannot find anything specific for the slide...
Thanks!

And found items about the champion build and this little file named ESPRIMG.zip?
U can also check out the ROM BIBLE stickie post.
u can try this:

I had the same problem you did, and fixed my phone, so its possible. refer to my post on the first page and then refer to this post and use the mirror that Wes himself posted.

Let me just start off by saying poop.
I've been reading up on these forums quite a lot, equipping myself with enough knowledge to get going on using this phone to its potential.
After the anticipation of getting my DHD, I went about rooting it. I used this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841076.
Everything went fine without much trouble. I completed all the steps in rooting it and gaing SU access. Also installed the Clockwork Recovery mod without a hiccup. I went on to install the Android Revolution ROM and going through the guide I used a tool called: 'Easy Wipe Upgrade.'
After installing this zip, the phone reboot and it just refuses to budge. Stuck on the HTC splash screen.
I've held down the bottom volume button with power and it gets me into HBOOT. I've tried a variety of option such as factory resets and nothing seems to be working.
My luck and phones. Just have a very expensive brick now sitting on my desk. Ah
I'd appreciate any help I can get please. Thanks.
I managed to resolve it!
Just FYI. Mounted the USB (Which was hidden fairly deeply) I guess you don't look when you panic? I then dropped on the ROM and installed it and boot up took a while but voila, it worked!
Well done, I would go mental if I bricked my phone. That's why I am still just reading up rather than trying things.

in the exact same situation as you where Could you go into abit more detail how you resolved this? currently have no phone cheers
whats wrong with your phone mate
Just so you know, as long as you have access to the bootloader (can be stock bootloader with S-ON, doesn't matter), 99% of the time you can 'unbrick' your phone by installing a stock RUU (PD98IMG.zip method) which returns your phone to complete stock.
If you install the wrong RUU while ENG HBOOT S-OFF then you can potentially fudge up your phone for good (unless you have Radio S-OFF, then you are fine - just install the correct RUU).
So don't worry, because there is nearly always a way to go back to how your phone was before you started hacking it.

hey guys, hope u could help me out.. i tried this RD1945's method.. got an ruu file, renamed the ruu file, then i put it on my micro sd card using a reader, then i plug it back in my phone, run hboot, the hboot parsed the zip file which i renamed according to the steps.. after it parsed it brought me back to the fastboot, recovery, restore factory defaults menu, etc... which i then chose fastboot then reboot... it reboots but im still stuck at the htc white splash screen for some time now.. what am i doin wrong? does it take long to start? sorry im a noob can someone explain to me how its done properly?

You are not supposed to rename the RUU file, rather you run the RUU file and then afterwards locate the ROM.zip file located in your temp folder. This ROM.zip file is meant to be renamed PD98IMG.zip, NOT the RUU file.
ok that was stupid of me.. ok will try to give it a go..
sorry if this sounds stupid to you again.. but, i just wana be sure.. its my first smartphone..
anyway, i run the ruu file on my pc, yeah? so then when i run it, it asks me to connect my dhd using the usb cable.. so i did... but it couldnt detect my phone.. thus, it couldnt continue it's setup.. ;-( thank you for helping out..
Make sure you install HTC Sync, it should also install all the DHD USB drivers needed.
hey, do you have any step by step guide on doing this? im afraid il do something wrong again and just risk messing up the phone even more..
i have htc sync and the htc drivers on my laptop but when i connect the usb plug to my phone and try to run the ruu.. it still gives me the prompt of no connection from the pc and android phone.. :-| what am i doing wrong? sorry...
thanks in advance for the any help!
i managed to get to the update part.. but now it prompts a 131 error message.. :-( help?

Keep in mind, this method is not confirmed working if you're running android 2.3.x [ Gingerbread ]. So do not use this if you're running it. Also dual sim ones aren't supported from what I see it tempers with the phone, I haven't tested it but many have reported it doesn't work on dual sims.
Lets get started shall we? Firstly I have gathered up some useful resources that will help you get started. Make sure you read this guide first, from top to bottom. Then continue. As you must have a clear understanding on what you are going to attempt. If you have any queries don't hesitate to ask on the thread itself.

I have performed these exact steps and have successfully unlocked my bootloader and rooted the phone. So if you're worried. Don't be. After attempting this I haven't noticed any issues either.
Okay, first of all you will need to download Unlockbootloader ---> View attachment unlockbootloader.zip
Once you have downloaded the said .zip extract the .exe file inside the .zip to your desktop.
Continue by turning on USB debugging on your G300. if its already switched on then skip the part below..
Go into Settings>Developer Options and tick the USB Debugging option.
Once its switched on, plug your phone to the computer using a USB cable.
So far you've downloaded Unlockbootloader, have switched USB debugging on, and your phone is connected to your PC.
Now run the .exe file you have just extracted. Click "Root" and let it do everything, it will prompt up with a few warnings saying don't use your keyboard because CMD is running.
Once the setup finishes, your phone should be rooted.
Head into the app drawer, and if you see "SuperUser" you're now officially rooted.
Reboot your phone to finalize the rooting and exploits.
Ok, now for the bootloader.
Once your phone is on, and connected again to the PC with debugging mode on, run the .exe file again and this time click "Unlock BootLoader".
Wait for it to do its job, once done reboot again and you now have a Stock Rooted and Bootloader unlocked ICS phone.

Hi, assuming you have installed the g300 adb drivers, once the device is hanging on the boot logo and you connect the usb cable. You need to wait for windows to fully the load the adb driver before you use the unlockbootloader.exe program.

What you have to do is,turn on debug, then power off device fully by pulling off battery then putting it back in, now you must power on by golding the volume down button and power button at the same time, this should get it to be stuck on the huawei logo screen, now plug in your USB cable and wait for you PC to detect the phone and it should automatically install the devices driver's, one its done the now open the folder and run .BAT files, If you are experiencing problems here's a link for another guide : View

Hello krishneelg3,
I have tried a method on http://huaweig300.com but I'm stuck with the problem.
Installing USB drivers/Root/Backup IMEI went OK. Then by mistake I skipped the Step on page 5. Check Baseband and kept continued by Bootloader & ClockworkMod all went OK until the step 10. On page 6. After executing BootloaderG300.exe the phone rebooting cyclically, My operator screen appear for a approximately one second and the phone restarts again. How to resolve the problem and is there any hope to return to official ROM?
Thanks in advance, I really appreciate it.

What was ur baseband and were u running gingerbread?
If u r on official ics then this guide is for u, if not notify me.
PS : If you are running Gb I refer you to look into this guide, as long as your phone can boot into bootloader your fine, and I'm sure it will boot into Bloader mode : http://www.modaco.com/topic/353386-how-to-root-your-huawei-ascend-g300-for-windows-mac-and-linux/
Thanks krishneelg3,
my baseband is 109808, and I'm running GB.
The problem is that I don't know if I'm in a Bootloader mode when I see a pink screen?
When I press VOLUME DOWN + POWER it starts same as when I press POWER, first logoo (in my case picture of my operator) it lasts for about few seconds, then phone reboots and start doing it cyclically.
The other thing is that, when I press VOLUME DOWN + VOLUME UP + POWER, it then turns into a pink screen.
In that state (pink screen), when I plug in my phone to my PC, PC recognize my phone without reading sd card or internall memory.
So what should I do?
Thanks man, really appreciate it!
Guys,
I solved the problem.
I've just followed the instructions in step 5. on the site http://huaweig300.com and put a new update.app (1 KB) and copy it to the dload. After that I've used main dload (ICS folder, aprox abot 600 MB) and everything updated and installed successfully.
Thanks.
p.s. if anyone has or had the same problem, do not hesitate to ask.
hi all
sorry to hijack the thread
I have just got my son an ascend 300 which is locked to vodafone
its on android 2.3.6
the build number is
u881v100r001c02b892
i have a download of HDU88151079V100R001C00B934 which is the ICS but i dont think that will work for my build
ideally i want ICS but dont mind too much waiting.
but i do want to be able to get of all the bloatware.
I guess i need to root to do this.
the link to the modaco site is down and it seems this is for those lucky enough to be on ICS
would i be better off upgrading to ICS then following the method above or would i be better finding a method to root under gb (If so where)
many thanks

OK get the official pics update b927* must be that build.
After its done downloading, extract its contents to your memorycard of the phone.
Make sure the update.app is in the root of SD card .
Then power off phone, remove battery re apply battery and hold the three buttons "volume up, volume down and the power button" until a screen pops up it will then install the stock ics once its done it'll reboot twice.
If only one it doesnt matter.
Setup the phone. Now to install b934 or newer versions use cwm for dazzozos repacks or the update force method. But I advice u to look for help on modaco. Thanks.

Thanks for that by b927* you are referring to a different version of HDU88151079V100R001C00B934 ?
where would i be able to get this from?
so this would give me the stock ics
what is the advantage of then installing HDU88151079V100R001C00B934 ?
Thanks

Your on gingerbread so your baseband Is 109808 and if u flash any b934+ stock using the combinations say goodbye to your phone. I did that to my brothers and it bricked.
So to get to ice you must install b927 version of ics then your baseband will change to the new one *2030* now you can flash any b934+ stocks because you now have the new baseband.
Go to modaco and enter the G300 forums and look at the first dew pages all the info and guides you need. Procedure is simple.
Hi All!
I've checked all similar threads but I haven't found any solution to my problem, hence this post.
I was trying to root Samsung Note 2 and install Cyanogenmod but rooting failed
The current problem:
1. Samsung Note 2 has ended up in a bootloop after failed rooting
2. I can't boot the phone in the Recovery Mode
3. The USB Debugging Mode was not activated
4. I can't turn on the phone
Description:
I was trying to root my friend's Samsung Note 2 using the following method from this website http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2291827
- Download and unzip the CF-Auto-Root-....zip file (see posts below this one)
- If you end up with a recovery.img and cache.img file, you've extracted twice. You need to end up with a .tar.md5 file - don't extract that one
- (USB) Disconnect your phone from your computer
- Start Odin3-vX.X.exe
- Click the PDA button, and select CF-Auto-Root-....tar.md5
- Put your phone in download mode (turn off phone, then hold VolDown+Home+Power to boot - if it asks you to press a button to continue, press the listed button, or run adb reboot download command)
- (USB) Connect the phone to your computer
- Make sure Repartition is NOT checked
- Click the Start button
- Wait for Android to boot
- Done (if it took you more than 30 seconds, you need practise!)

The problem is that by mistake I used a wrong CF-Auto-Root... file and instead of this file CF-Auto-Root-t03g-t03gxx-gtn7100.zip which was designed for Samsung Note 2 I used a file which I was using before for my own phone (Samsung Galaxy S4) CF-Auto-Root-jflte-jfltexx-gti9505.zip
Result 1: The rooting process got frozen and I had to disconnect the USB cable connecting the phone with the computer.
Result 2: Black screen, I couldn't boot the phone.
Next, I used the same rooting method but with the correct CF-Auto-Root... file.
Result 3: Bootloop. The phone boots up when I press the power button but when I see the first screen with a white "Samsung Note 2" on a black background, the phone reboots again and the process repeats itself for ever.
Result 4: I can't boot the phone in recovery mode. When I press the Volume Up+Power+Home buttons, the phone reboots and keeps rebooting instead of going into recovery mode.
Result 5: The USB Debugging Mode was not activated before rooting. Since I can't turn on the phone I can't activate the mode now. All solutions to my problem that I've seen require having USB Debugging Mode activated.
Could anyone help me and suggest what to do, please?
I don't know much about how mobile phone works but I can follow instructions if I know what to do.
I rooted my own mobile phone and installed Cyanogenmod successfully. I wanted to do the same with my friend's phone who was fed up with bloated and slow manufacturer's firmware.
I hope you can help me. Thank you.
I really don't know why so many users try to root before flashing a custom rom -> it is simply useless and as shown in this example dangerous, when a false root method or file is chosen.
You need:
1. Custom recovery, flash through ODIN, I think latest TWRP will do the job
2. Flash your desired custom rom through above recovery, (if needed: GApps also)
3. Flash SuperSu if needed (read in OP of that rom) done
If number 1 won't work, you got to flash firmware from sammobile first using ODIN
and then take steps 1, 2, 3

Thank you very much for your quick reply.

As I said, everything I mentioned before went fine but there is one problem. The system doesn't detect the network as if the SIM card wasn't inserted. I double checked everything and I have no idea what that is.
I installed CyanogenMod version 11-20140715-NIGHTLY-n7100 with android version4.4.4.
I would be very grateful for any suggestions.
Many thanks!

The problem originated from the fact that my IMEI got lost somewhere during failed rooting/flashing. I've flashed with the stock firmware which retrieved my IMEI and the phone connected to the network as usual. After the phone was brought back to the fully operational state, I used CyanogenMod installer for Mac and I successfully installed CM, and it works like a dream.
I hope it will help. Good luck!

I understand that you are asking if there is a CyanogenMod installer for Windows. Yes, there is, particularly for Windows http://beta.download.cyanogenmod.org/install
Just copy of my posts in another thread as this one is more relevant to my problem I think:
Good afternoon gents and girls, I have a bit strange problem wonder if anyone can get a bit of light on it. My Mrs's GT-7100 one day was stuck on boot up screen. I thought is was corrupt tried to do factory reset. Didn't work out read about is decided to flash it with a different official ROM for that installed twrp-3.0.2-0-t03g.img.tar and was trying to do a lot of different things within TWRP mode. As I'm not familiar with flashing process I guess didn't do it properly BUT! While doing it all over sudden I realised that the phone is actually working while connected to external power it shows charge and goes upto 100% but as as soon as it disconnected from main power source it starts to reboot constantly again stuck at the same boot screen again, till reconnected to power source again, then goes in to fool boot and functions properly making and receiving phone calls. The charge shown on the battery drops from 100% to 4-7% in a matter of the boot up time which is say 5-10 seconds.
Tested by multimeter battery shows 4.32V. I can't test battery under load, but will endeavor to do so by a test light. I have a bit strange problem wonder if anyone can get a bit of light on it.
So any thoughts?
I suspect the battery is not the issue. I have 2 external banks which are holding the charge to keep running Galaxy 3 8.0 up to 2-3 hours in use. Both of them are 5.2V 1A and having GT-7100 connected to them doesn't help to boot up the phone. Olso 5V 0,5A charger of Bluebery either, only Samsung 2A charger gets the GT-7100 back to fanctioning mode. When phone is booted up it shows
The ROM Version it is N7100XXUFND3,
Kernel version 3.0.31-152758,
