Does Froyo use EXT partitions on SD cards or are the apps stored in the FAT partition? in which case, EXT partitions have no use with Froyo?
Thanks,
Stew
Try reading one of the Froyo threads maybe?

Froyo doesn't like ext partitions. So if you are going to use it, format your SD card to FAT32 only.

Correct me if im wrong
1. Partition is FAT32 primary
2. Partition is ext3 primary
I do not need swap space?
Im planing to install stock htc froyo prerooted with A2SD+, first i was partition SD card with rom manager and thats not working well.
Now i use Gparted.
All advices are welcome

Yes... 1. FAT32 2. ext 2/3 and no swap.
Please use search next time... There are plenty of threads with solutions.
How do I fix this? I made an EXT partition of 256mb and I even tried formatting the sd card. Using a Patriot 16gb Micro sd Class 10 (don't know if that is relevant)
Also installed the recovery from fastboot. CWM 3.0.0.5

Where are you getting this error? Are you trying to set up Apps2ext? I think currently that only works on Enomther's ROM. If you aren't trying to run Apps2Ext, what is the EXT partition on your SD card for?

Apps2EXT is the same as Apps2SD right? If that's the case then yeah that's what I'm trying to do. I thought EXT Partition works with CM7? If not then guess I'll stop trying. I get that error in recovery when I wipe Dalvik Cache and when I try to mount SD-EXT Partition or when I try to format it.

Apps2sd and Apps2sd are two diffreant thing apps2sd stores apps on a FAT formatted sdcard (which is what Froyo uses as native apps2sd with apps that allow it and no widgets) , while apps2ext stores apps on a partition on your sd card formatted to EXT file system, which your phone mounts as part of its internal system so it will support widgets and apps that previously could only be supported on internal storage, so it considers it internal storage even though its on the sd card, so no they are not the same thing, right now the only rom that supports apps2ext is Enoms rom.

I think nowawdays Apps2SD is used to refer to the system built-in to Froyo for moving apps to the SD card (does not use ext file system or need special partitioning). This just works out of the box on any Vision ROM.
CM7 uses the ext4 filesystem for all of it's partitions, which is new (not sure if that's what you are talking about). Hadn't heard it supports Apps2Ext, but maybe?
If you aren't using Apps2Ext though, you should expect to see a warning about a missing sd-ext partition when doing that stuff in recovery, so you're okay.
whats the difrance betwen A2SDand A2SD+
A2SD - default android; some parts still remain in internal memory after moving
A2SD+ - script; All of the files moved to the EXT partition of your SD Card.
A2SD+ doesn't move everything. I believe it does move more than android A2SD but the most important differences are:
All apps are moved automaticly to ext partition.
Dalvik cache is also moved
Apps on the ext partition will still have widgets enable.
Apps will work when sd is mounted.
And the stuff I forget.

i just partition my sd card with amonra recovery 2.0.1 woth details:
32 mb swap
1024 mb ext2
ext2 upgrade to ext3
so...what does above mean? is it a2sd ready or a2sd+ ready?
You can use both of them. The difference is that a2sd+ also moves dalvik cache to ext partition.
Both of them have nothing to do with froyo apps2sd which moves parts of the apps to fat-partition. When you use a2sd or a2sd+ you shouldn't use the froyo one.
And a swap partition is not recommended

Every sense ROM requires a ext4 so i was wondering if i could make a partion of 1gb on my SD card with out reformatting, if this is possible any links or help would be appreciated.
thanks
Try MiniTool Partition Wizard.. [sometimes] allows you to resize your FAT32 partition and put in an ext4 and change both to primary....
Sometimes it lets me resize, sometimes it doesn't. Have yet to figure out why though..
Don't use mini partition wizard. Many users reported it destroyed their sd card. So use GParted, it's worth it to deal with this software.
Not all sense roms need a partition, try cool bravos

Recently I partitioned my sd card with gparted and vmware. Didn't had to format card. Gparted managed everything. Very powerfull and easy tool.
Just follow @rootSU guide.

You can convert ext3 partition to ext4 by 4EXTRecovery, You don't lose any data from the partition sdcard.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1154221
Or you can use the file from coolex that your partition convert ext3 to ext4, just flash the same like rom from recovery.
"EXT4 Partition For A2SD, No Swap New Scripe
Align Your EXT4 Partition With...
THIS
Also Alignment_Cool.zip Convert Your Ext3 Partition To Ext4"

Yeah that's a bit slow but you could give it a try. I started with a class 2 card, too. Then I switched to class 6 because of the speed.

If you already have ext partition use recovery to convert it to ext4 as advised by Gramzz. if not its better to make backup and recreate FAT32 and ext4 partition you can also do this using recovery or use Gparted on computer.
I'm not an Android guru, i'm just investigating what's going on with my phone and now i'm completely lost after reading tons of topics & googling about all that Apps2SD, Data2SD, Data++ etc. stuff. I'm wondering is it possible to move the WHOLE DATA partition to SD Card, so original Data partition on internal memory would not be used? Like in Linux, where you can mount external disk over empty partition/folder. Thanks in advance.
yes
there is script called data2sd
like in droidzone rom
supernova
starbrust
internal become the ext partion
You can search for :
DATA2SD
Data2ext
Data2whatever
And also modified amarullz script.
