[Help]A2SD failed!Phone can not boot, stays at HTC white screen! - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi everyone, today is the 3rd day and 1st time using android phone. im a super newbie here.
first my desire has already rooted. done myself yesterday.
today, i follow an instructions of how to a2sd which link over here
http://nimbu.amorvi.com/2010/05/how-to-root-your-htc-desire/
6. Install Apps2SD
Put your Goldcard into your phone and turn on your phone
Attach your phone to your PC via microUSB cable (harddrive mode).
Copy the r1-a2sd-desire-dalvik-fresh-signed.zip file you downloaded earlier onto your Goldcard sdcard via your phone.
Turn off the phone and unplug it from your PC.
Turn on your phone while holding the volume down button.
You will see HBOOT on the screen.
Use the volume buttons to move up and down and power button to select the RECOVERY option.
You will now see a red triangle on the screen, at this point plug your phone into your PC via your microUSB cable.
Double click on recovery-windows.bat inside the pushfiles_windows.zip folder you unzipped as part of the root process.
Looking back at the Desire, you'll see that the red triangle screen is gone and a greenish recovery console appeared.
Using the optical trackpad select Wipe > Wipe data/factory reset
After this has completed do Wipe > Wipe cache
Again, once this has completed do Wipe > Wipe Dalvik-cache.
Next select Flash zip from sdcard and select r1-a2sd-desire-dalvik-fresh-signed.zip.
Once flashing is over, select the "Power off" command.
Unplug your phone from the PC, and replace the GoldCard sdcard with your normal sdcard.
Remember to have backed up your normal sdcard before proceeding, as the next step will wipe all data from it.
Using the optical trackpad select Partition sdcard > Partition SD
Select SWAP=0, EXT2=512 and allow the rest to be FAT32.
Select the SD:ext2 to ext3 option in this menu.
Go back to the Recovery Console main menu and select Reboot system now. While rebooting, unplug the Desire from the USB port.
And thats it! You now have a rooted Desire with apps2sd. Get in!
i did exactly the instructions. when do the last steps/reboot system now. it stays at HTC white screen. then i tried lot of ways to restore to original ROM///whatever... all failed.
and i can't go into the green recovery mode! thats a tragedy. could anybody experts in the forum help me out? all i want is just go back to the original ROM. thank you.
my phone was bought from clove.

How to partition sd cards for a2sd+ uwing windows xp

How can I partition my SD using Windows xp. I have revoked recovery installed and it doesn't have the option to partition and I can't install Rom manager because when I try my market installs are unsuccessful because I need to partition my SD.
Thanks for help.
Any 1?
Sorry to bump but I'm getting tired and would like to fix this before I drift off.
Thanks
Dion.
Ensure that you have HTC Sync installed.
1. Turn on your phone while holding the volume down button.
2. You will see HBOOT on the screen.
3. Use the volume buttons to move up and down and power button to select the RECOVERY option.
4. You will now see a red triangle on the screen, at this point plug your phone into your PC via your microUSB cable.
5. Double click on recovery-windows.bat inside this pushfiles_windows.zip folder (unzip to Desktop).
6. Using the optical trackpad select Partition sdcard > Partition SD
7. Select SWAP=0, EXT2=512 and allow the rest to be FAT32.
8. Select the SD:ext2 to ext3 option in this menu.
9. Go back to the Recovery Console main menu and select Reboot system now. While rebooting, unplug the Desire from the USB port.
You could just use Rom Manager to do it

This doesn't work because i used the new one click unrevoked root guide. So when i put my phone into recovery it doesn't show the red triangle now it goes to the clockworkmod recovery v2.5.0.1 screen. In here it has a partition menu but when i enter it it doesnt have any options to partition the sd for a2sd.
So is there anyway to remove the clockworkmod recovery?

I cant use Rom Manager becuase the rom I flashed has a2sd+ built in but my memory card is not formatted for this so when i download apps from the market they can't install.
Ok I think I have a plan.
I've downloaded the rom manager.apk but i need to know how to change this to a flashable zip so it installs on internal memory as a system file sort of thing.
How do I do that?
Is any1 actually alive on this forum??????
Mod. can you move this to the Desire Android development thread. I think I'll get more help in there.
Thanks
buy acronis disk director suite, put your sd card into reader and plug via usb to windows
start the program, run the wizard and voila
download gparted live cd and create it there...it's way too easy there

[Q] Another Is IT bricked! question.... please help

my desrie has been running fine until today.
was running the open desire rom but changed the pinky desire 1.8 a few weeks ago.
when using phone today a few apps kept force closing so i decided to reboot the phone.
it kept sticking on the loading screen, it would go black for a second as if it was about to load as normal but then it would loop back to the loading screen.
i tried factory reseting from clockwork recovery console then wiping cache and data and then re installing a rom.
now it just sits on the first HTC screen the one you get after powering up.
EDIT ; i have googled and had a bit of a search for answers. have tried most of them with no positive results.
have probably made things worse,
while waiting for a possible reply on here and various tinternet searches for my problem i was tryingh all sorts to get it working again.
and have now wiped the SD card data completley. so now i cant load a rom from the SD card.
i tried coping my sd card back up data from my pc back on to the card but it cant run the update.zip file to get into the recovery mode.
will i have to use my gold card to get some sort of working rom on my phone now?
OK first thing to try is ensure the SD card is formatted correctly, so boot into recovery and partition the SD card. You want 0swap, 512EXt2, and rest fat32. Then still in the partiton menu upgrade ext2 to ext 3.
Once that is done, while still in recovery you should see an option for usb toggle or or something it's called. With the usb lead plugged in this will mount your SD card on the computer so you can copy your rom onto it.
From there you should be able to flash in the usual way.
Edit: just re-read your second post, and realised you can't boot into recovery. You will need a card reader to put the update.zip on, or you should be able to flash an ruu. You'll likely need your goldcard for that, and then re-root afterwards.

i take it i dont need my gold card if my phone has been debranded?
the stock roms are ruu files and all the guides i have read including
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696189
this one im guessing you need your phone to access htc sync..
if my phone is not loading up how can i put a stock rom or unroot from the recovery console?
i have managed to put back in the fake flash update zip and have that working now at least.. tried installing a custom rom zip from the SD card from recovery console on the phone but it is still stuck on the HTC screen.
Have u tried a stock rom, running an RUU? Do it like this enter bootloader and connect the phone to the computer it should be found by the computer, in your phone should apear fastbootUSB or bootloaderUSB, something like that..
Hope it works
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
case closed, thanks for the help and input guys..
i followed the guide
from benko286
1. Download this
2. Turn off Desire and then turn it on while holding back button to enter bootloader(white screen)
3. Once in "white screen" press power button again to enter bootloader
4. Connect Desire with PC
5. Press Volume Down and than Power to enter Recovery
6. Now the red triangle should show up, go to folder you downloaded file and press recovery-windows.bat, recovery-mac.sh or recovery-linux.sh depending on which OS you have
7. Now you are in recovery mode (green screen), press Wipe and than Wipe data/clear storage, than press optical tracker to confirm it
8. After that press Volume Down to go back to main menu in recovery
9. Navigate to Flash zip from sdcard using optical tracker, select .zip confirm it and wait until process finish, after that press Reboot system and unplug you Desire
10. Enjoy your new ROM
and it worked, for some reason i couldnt flash the rom using clockwork recovery mode, but this worked a treat..
was really pooping it cause i thought it was game over and welcome to a posh shiney door stop..
Nice one. Glad you got it sorted.

Desire doesn't boot up!

I haven't changed anything in the phone since I bought it last year, I just rooted it and put Leedroid on it shortly after.
At first, the phone used to randomly reboot. This started a couple months ago. But today it turned off during a call and now stays on the white HTC bootup screen.
What could be wrong?
Falsh another rom via recovery
No, not another one. Flash the same one, so LeeDroid. If that doesn't help you can just do a full wipe then flash LeeDroid.
Thanks for the replies. Much appreciated.
However, theres an update. I cleared storage through the bootloader menu and now rather than hanging on the white screen, it goes on further to a black screen with "android" written in silver.
I'll try the Leedroid flash again. Do I do the original Leedroid ROM or can I do an updated version?
Can anyone help me with how to load a new ROM whilst stuck in this situation? I can get into FASTBOOT USB, just need to know how to transfer the ROM onto the phone's storage.
Thanks!
U can't transfer data threw fastboot either use a SD card reader or some one else mobile n transfer data n then reinstall or install a fresh Rom
Device HTC Desire
Rom RcmMixSv08
SD class 4 6.40gb fat32 / 1gb ext3
S OFF
Radio 5.11.05.14
Hboot 0.93.1000
custom hboot Alpharev Cm7
Recovery Alpharev Cmw 2.5.1.8
Fake Flash Cwm 3.0.0.5
I thought that the update.zip option only works from the internal storage, not the external?
download the newest complete rom - not an update.zip

I'm stuck on the bit after that.
I've downloaded the ROM. I just need to install it in the phone's current state. I would be grateful if someone could tell me how to install the ROM if the phone doesn't boot.
Assuming you have Clockwork Mod installed, this is what you need to do:
1. Somehow get the ROM (*.zip file) on your SD card (through a card reader or someone else's phone or any other mean).
2. Boot your phone into the bootloader (hold volume down when you turn on the device).
3. Click Recovery (wait a few seconds for the SD card to mount, then press volume down to navigate and use the power button for "click").
4. Then click "install zip from sdcard" and navigate to your ROM and install it.
What version of LeeDroid were you using? If it's one of the latest ones then you need to have USB debugging enabled otherwise you could encounter the problem you describe.
I hadn't yet installed the ROM, and the ROM that I was using previously was one of the early 2. versions.

I really hope that it's the solution for me too. I have the same problem, my DS is also dead but i don't know what rom i had.. So i guess i'll just try RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe...blah-blah..

[Q] Cant download apps on Revolution root

I just recently rooted my evo4g with revolution via Zedomax tutorial on youtube.
The root appeared to go smooth and easy up until i tried to download the app that allows me to wireless hotspot (the reason behind my root)
since the root, each time i try to download an app from the market (or connect to a wifi-network such as the one in my home) i get a download failed error message (as for the wifi, it just never connects to the network)
Someone please help me fix this or direct me towards the unroot process so i can try it again.
Turn off the phone, and then pull the battery. Put the battery back in. Hold the volume-down and power button.
This will take you to HBOOT. Top line, does it say S-Off? If it does, then continue with what I am saying. If says S-On, re-run Revolutionary.
Download AmonRa as a PC36IMG.zip and put it on the root of your SD card (meaning not in any folders or anything). Get into HBOOT again. It will check for certain files and find the PC36IMG.zip and ask if you want to update. Choose yes. It will ask if you want to reboot. Say yes. The phone will reboot. Delete AmonRa off of your SD card.
Get to HBOOT again. Navigate with the volume buttons to recovery. Power button to select. This will take you to recovery.
Make a nandroid (Backup, Nandroid Backup, choose everything except for cache).
Plug up the phone to your computer. Choose mount as MS. Back up everything you have on your phone to your computer.
I am assuming you are using the stock 8-gigabyte card.
Partitioning your SD card: (helps alleviate the phone, stores data on the sd card) (PARTITIONING WILL DELETE EVERYTHING OFF YOUR CARD SO BACK UP EVERYTHING TO YOUR COMPUTER BEFORE)
Back up everything on your SD card to your computer.
Boot into AmonRa.
Select "Partition SD Card". You will be prompted to set an amount for Swap and ext2. The rest of the card will be FAT32, which is normal storage space for everything else.
Select 512 megabytes for swap
Select 1024 or 2048 for ext2 and the rest for FAT
After process finishes, select "Upgrade ext2 to ext3".
After process finishes, DO NOT CHOOSE TO UPGRADE TO ext4. Do NOT do it. DO NOT DO IT
Go to the wipe menu and wipe EVERYTHING there. Three times.
From main menu, select USB-MS and copy your files back to your SD card. You don't have to transfer files like android.secure and Android and temporary files, only what you need.
Download a ROM of your choice, I suggest Team Nocturnal's Stock if you want stock. Found here
Transfer to your SD card while phone is mounted as MS.
Unmount phone from computer.
Choose "flash zip from SD card"
Navigate to ROM.
Select with power button. Let it run its course.
Reboot.
Initial boot will take a while. Let it be.
Once everything is booted up, do setup and reboot.
This is total overkill, but it will help hopefully. You only need to partition your SD card once so I am helping you do it the first time
Oh yeah, the Sprint Hotspot in most ROMs (including Team Nocturnal's stock) are hacked, meaning that you can tether for free with the app without the need for a 3rd-party one. It is restricted to 3G-only though
Are you using the stock ROM or have you flashed a custom rom?

[Q] [Really need help!!!]Cannot enter recovery with sd card

I'm dealing with a very very weird issue
Recently i flashed ICE beta 6 rom but it was slow and not good enough for daily driver, so I decided to restore latest nand backup from my last sense 2.3 rom
I did as usual. Reboot to recovery. Noticed that sdcard is recognized as 'null' but did not pay attention to it (which seems to be very stupid now)
I wiped all the partition and system and cache and factory reset etc... as usual
Then i chose restore but it said "error can't mount sdcard"
Tried to mount /sdcard but it said error
So i thought, ok we could try powering off and detach/attach the sdcard again
I powered it off, and now i can only enter Fastboot. Everytime when choosing BOOTLOADER, it enters but then i cannot use Vol up + Vol down + power to navigate through options. Have to pull the batt off to turn the whole thing off.
But when i remove the sdcard, the navigation buttons are MAGICALLY working again! But it does not make any sense because i need the sdcard to restore!!!!
So, any one, help me, please!!!
Very appreciated and thank you in advance!
Somebody helps me please!!!!!!!!!! Super urgent
Maybe your sd is messed up. Put the sd in a card reader and read it from pc. If u can, perform a backup. Then format the sd and see if u can enter recovery !
Or try a different sd card of you have one
