Hi guys, I would like some info if how your battery fares while using the browser. I took mine off charge, then straight away used the browser for between 5-10 minutes over WiFi. When I checked my battery after this, it was on 90%. Surely losing 10% from just 5 mins browsing isn't right?
I'm on an unbranded Orange desire running latest generic update. Thanks.

Sounds like your battery calibration is just messed up after your update. Give it couple cycle charges and try again. Keeping the screen on for 5 min with wifi probably should realistically drop you between 2% or 3%.

I know there are a lot of battery threads out there, but I can't seem to find any that deal specifically with the issue I have and it's got me worried.
I understand that USB charging is slow no matter what, and there's already a thread about that, but even when I plug the device into the wall (AC charging), it takes at least 3 1/2 hours to charge from zero. I timed it last night, and in a matter of 20 minutes the battery went from 73% to 77%. This was with 3G on and the screen turned off. If I actually use the device while charging, it may jump 1 or 2% in 15 minutes.
So, my question is does anyone else have this issue, or do I have a bad battery/device?

Not sure what's wrong with yours maybe your using a charger other than what came with the phone. Mine charges from zero to 100 in a little over a hour. Feels like faster than that lol I was actually amazed how fast this thing charges.

But hey it drains just as fast it charges for me

Def charges faster than my s2!!

Ya, charges from 30% to 100% in about 2 hours. Dies ~5 hrs when I actually use mobile data.

Hmm. Def. something up, then. It takes for freakin' ever to charge even sitting idle the whole time. I'm going to drain it again today and let it charge again and time it with the stopwatch app on my tablet.
I also ordered the extended battery from vzw for $25. Hopefully that will help.

Working on battery stats atm over at RootzWiki. Far from complete.
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/12320-a-little-battery-stats/
@ 1 amp mine charges about 1% a minute if I'm not using it. If I'm listening to music it goes to 1.5 mins a percent. With the screen on and actively using it takes about 2-4 mins a percent.

Im still using the standard battery and with my phone on a full charge from ~10% takes 1.5-2 hours on the other hand with the phone off its 0-100% in about an hour...
GSM here. 1 Hour charge from 0 to 100 on average.

So I just got my Note 2 this week and I'm only getting about 9hrs of use before hiring 30%. I checked a bunch of reviews and they were saying they usually got a day in a half with moderate use. How about u guys? How long are u guys getting of of your phone? Are u rooted? Using a juice app? Is an SD card inserted? How long does it take for your battery to recharge?
Use search button before opening a new thread?
I have to charge it in between, but I am always on it. Still the best battery life I have gotten out of a phone since razr maxx.

I've been getting 1.5 to 2 days on mine with my normal usage.
I spent a few days at my in laws where I used it a solid 8 hours near continuously and ran it down to 15%.
I was in an area of no cell coverage and had wifi calling running all day.
16 hours yesterday with moderate to high usage. 40 minutes calls, 25 sms, 6 mms, 10 photos + retouching, 3 app updates, 1 install and a total of about 3-4 hours greader/browser reading. Wifi on, 3g on, power saving on and sync on. Display brightness between lowest and 50%. Display on time 48%. 19% battery remaining. Stock international version, unrooted. No LTE.
I have no idea how long it takes to charge. Sorry.
Trivia: The word "Nomofobi" (swedish) or "Nomophobia!?" (English) has been added to the Swedish dictiodary. It is the fear of running out of juice on your mobile phone!
My nomophobia disappeared with the purchase of my Note II.
I hope you sort your battery issues out.
Question, those with insane battery life, are you rooted? The first day I got the phone, it had 16 hours before going down to 5% battery life, and I had about 6 hours of screen time. I wasn't rooted.
I rooted yesterday, and the battery life today was about 12 hours, and its at about 20% battery life.
I was curious, maybe rooting the phone has a parasitic effect on the battery. All I did was remove T-Mobile's bloat ware, nothing else.
I don't see any difference in battery life pre-rooting and post-rooting. I consistently average around 16-20 hrs depending on usage. Typical day use for me is to take it off the charger at 6 am, then I usually have 1 to 2 hrs streaming on 3g, another 2 hrs streaming on wifi - all using Plex. Youtube about 1 hr, maybe 1-3 calls lasting 5 mins avg., 1 hr playing games, and about 1-2 hrs browsing internet. I'm not a heavy texter or gmail, since usually I can do that on my laptop at work.
I usually don't put the phone back on the charger until around 12 or 1 am, with about 14% left. I usually have wifi on, gps on, sync on, brightness level around 10-20% except outdoors (then it's full brightness), power saving mode on, and screen time out at 1 minute.
I had realized that I had the brightness set to full brightness since early in the morning lol. All in all, I don't know any phone that would last all day with full brightness and doing all I did.

Thanks for the responses guys, ive turned on power saver mode and I'm starting to notice a difference. Hopefully I can get 16hrs like the rest of u guys
The battery life is good and stays longer by not using it or talking on the phone with it

Two hours of screen time and the battery is at 79%... Doesn't seem normal. Going to take it back and try and get it replaced, not root and see what happens.

I had the htc one for a couple days i noticed it can charge from around 5 percent to full within 1 hour-1hour-1/2. I just installed battery widget reborn and it states that it will be fully charged within 4 hours. I also read about the charging time being 4 hours also they covered that in a bunch of online video reviews. Is there some kind of software glitch that shows its fully charged but not really charged all the way?? just weird little thing to me.... thanks guys for any input...........
My phone doesn't take 4 hours to charge unless I'm running aosp. Then it will take around 4 hours.

I've calibrated my battery a couple times this month due to ROM and kernel updates and it takes just over 2hrs from zero. It has never taken 4 hours for me. Running Viper/Elite Lunar.
Battery calibration is a myth. In android once you hit 100% it deletes the batterystats.bin which makes the stats start over. When you do the calibration all you're doing is manually deleting that file which does nothing really. If your battery drops large amounts between a reboot or drains super fast it is probably a bad battery.

I bought this phone yesterday and is my first non Motorola phone.
The phone is still running 4.4.2.
The battery is draining at an alarming rate (13% doing nothing) and gets hot ~ 40°C (and laggy when hot)
Is this normal the first few days or should I return the device?
Regards
Sanjay
You can probably wait a few days for it to settle down with the syncs and stuff. Battery temperature is quite high for not doing anything but it could reach that temperature if you use navigation or during heavy gaming. My battery usually stays at about 31-32 degrees during moderate usage like browsing or playing youtube videos.

Mine did the same thing when I first got it, let it fully die then charge it. It should settle down after that.

How many times did you do that? I have done it twice already
To drain the battery at an even faster rate, I just have to use Google Chrome. The phone is drained empty in forty five mins to an hour
Hello everyone.
Past couple of weeks I have been having issues with my phone battery. No matter how much battery I have left when ever I play some game or edit photos my phone will all of sudden drop from 70%(or any given point) to 0% and switch off. At first I thought my battery was not calibrated so I drain to 0 and charge to 100 while it is off for couple of times but problem still occurs. Also when this happen my phone charge only upto 80% and stop charging until I unplug and plug back in order for it to charge100%.
Is there a way to fix it and how could I check if my battery is bad?

First, battery calibration is basically a placebo. It does nothing nowadays.
The whole thing about waiting a few days after installing a new rom or firmware so that the battery can "settle down" is real though, but is only because the new firmware will be doing a lot of background stuff and thus drain the battery more than usual.
Second, the only way to tell if your battery is bad is to try a new one. Unfortunately.
Based on your symptoms though, your battery is DEFINITELY bad. I'd recommend either sending the battery out for warranty, or buying a new one. Or both- you'll end up with 2 new batteries that you can swap out if you're a heavy user.
FYI Warning- apps that claim to scan and repair your battery are scams. There is no way to scan your battery. It isn't a harddrive.
Just thought I should warn you before you get desperate.

Been having similar issues with mine as well. My phone will show about 20% or more left in it, but then the phone ships down as if it was completely drained. When I plug it in, it will show the battery is dead. Also, like a little whole ago, it showed 25% left, but when I plugged it in, it went to 12%. It also continued to drop even while plugged in and showing it was charging. I did a battery pull, cleared the cache, then rebooted. It showed 18%, but only 23 minutes left to full charge. I did another battery pull, and it now shows 1 hour and 43 minutes left to full charge.
Like you, this has been going on for a few weeks now off & on.
I had problems a little while back (not as bad as these). Mine would die with the percent showing around 5-8% remaining. I took the battery out, held the power button for about 30 seconds, then continued normal use. I read somewhere that doing this somehow helps. I don't know if it's true or not, but now my phone doesn't die until it hits 0%, so something did change.
