My knowledge of formats, computers and mobile devices are pretty crap IM learning so please 4give me......
I want watch a full length film on my handset n having few problems
Wat format i need the film be? I downloaded films in mp4,and .avi there on my PC
But the file is understandably massive,do i compress it using winzip? Just i tried and dnt seem 2transfer over takes ages anyideas or pointers would b grateful thanx
mp4 or avi are ok. normal size for a movie in good quality is about 1 Gb. don't compress it.
if your movies are larger you can use a tool which is in this forum, just search for video converter for blackstone.
Ok i try thnx gr8 help....all i need do is run mp4 or .avi movie though tool tht should wrk should it ttake long 2 transfr,?
This is the link to the tool you need, but with the slow write speeds it will take a while to transfer the file to your device.

Just done an initial test of video playback on the Desire. Used an MP4 which was encoded at 640x480 fro my iPhone, and I know the file is good. This plays back jerkily, and is not wide enough on screen.
I have tried yxflash and playback is poor.
Can the Desire play back this format smoothly, and can it adjust the aspect ratio in the player?
What are the recommended file types/sizes/encoding for the Desire?
well i think the reason it's not wide streched is because the width of the video is 480px and the width of desire too so it cannot expand to the whole wide height since the video's height is 640 and desire's is 800!! my opinionas i see it
800x480. Perhaps use the HD Encoder tool found on the Blackstone forumns here. Encodes videos perfectly for this resoultion.

Tell us how it goes. Remember to use this from the source video, and not your already converted videos which are lower res and not widescreen
Thanks. I'll give that a go.
have you tried this yet? Any luck?
There is also DoubleTwist, which acts as an iTunes replacement. I tried this, but it is extremely slow at encoding video, although it does work, and the quality is OK.

Fantastic program. Have converted avi's and even 720p mkv files.
Results are excellent on the Desire's screen.
Highly recommended

It's a bit of a shame that video playback is pretty poor, Hero was the same. Don't know why HTC choose to do this everytime, make a fantastic device and spoil it by sticking in a inferior software.

Hi there,
I was just wondering if you use any specific settings in the program for the Desire, or do you just use the default settings? Thanks in advance!

I would use defaults. By default it's set to the correct resolution. Depends if you are converting a SD or HD, then choose from the two checkboxes to the left of the resolution. That's it. Just add the files you want to convert, choose a destination folder and go for it.
Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for your reply! I'm trying to download the program from the thread, but the link seems to be broken??? I was wondering if you might have an alternative link to it please? TIA
** Edit - Forget that, I managed to download the program, and i'm testing with a HD Rip at 750 kb/s now! Will let you all know the results soon.

Link isn't broken. Although I will upload to rapid share for you in a a few mins as it's taking forever.
http://gm.mainframe.no/stuff/Encoder.rar Try that again as it works right now for me.
Thanks for that! All is good and working right now, hopefully the quality will work out! For those that haven't checked it out already, I recommend beebplayer! Works just like BBC iPlayer but also includes live TV broadcasting

can't wait until they finally port Coreplayer to Android...
I've not been able to test further yet - I on the road just now. Will be checking this out later today.

Hi All,
Just to update, I have converted a HD video at 750 kb/s and it plays perfectly on the Desire! The colours are vibrant, and warm, and motion is super fluid! I recommend people give it a go, it's great!

Hi
I did a screen-recording while sketching in S-Note. A recording functions that's built-in. I was able to play them back within the S-note app.
But, I could not find the recorded video / smb files - however I did find static image sketches' smb files.
Any pointers would be great help.
Thanks in advance

YES i found out this too.
Now the question is Where are those videos saved!
Are you sure it saves as a video file ?, could the static images you found actually be animated gif image

No, they don't appear like an animated gif, If I open it using VLC, it only shows a thumbnailimage.jpg - where as the file is over 3MB.
Also - was not able to extract .smb file neatly. Any clue on that?
try changing the file extension to .gif and open it with any programme that you know is capable of playing animated gif images correctly. It may well be a video file of some type proprietary to samsung, which only samsung app will play - I can think of other video files that cannot be played by any other software other than the app that they are designed for.
I thought the on screen recording doesn't work yet.
Oh snap! I don't have a witty tapatalk signature!
It's available in snote only and not available as advertised. .

I saw several apps but none allow you to add the one you wanna use.
If the gif could be converted into a file like a live wallpaper im pretty sure its possible. Google how to make live wallpapers for android, use a program to extract the frames from a gif and that should be the right direction. After u make the file, ud probably have to inject the file into the system, dont know the location where live wallpapers are saved but it shouldn't be too hard to find.
Lemme know how it goes, seems like a cool idea which can be done fairly quickly.
Google dvd media soft, they have a program that i use to do general media stuff with, extracted frames from YouTube videos with it, possibly can do it with gifs aswell, not sure

I'm looking for a full resolution version of this artwork. Its LG's default album cover when none is specified, and its also the lockscreen when you're playing music. Its awesome, and I want it in full resolution to use as a legit wallpaper. Thanks!

!!! thanks, but can you upload it on flickr? Oftentimes, attaching pics on this site shrinks/degrades the pix enough pixels to make a big difference in image quality.
also, i just tried looking in the system dump. If you can't put the full thing on flickr, can you tell me the file path? Thanks
I don't have a flicker account so I uploaded it to
http://www3.zippyshare.com/v/lPaJkuZr/file.html
As for path, in system/priv-app/lgmusic/lgmusic.apk
I choose to view instead of install using root explorer and go to
Res/drawable-xxxhdpi-v4/ and extract albumart_mp_unknown.png
