Snooze - Desire General

Why does HTC DESIRE locks screen and i need to click on POWER ON again?
And also for ALARM it needs to be powered on?

nobody can help?

What help would you like? It is indeed the way that the phone works

Since if it doesn't lock screen, you would complain at it answering calls while is in your pocket, and similar situations
For alarm it turns on itself (just like when you're receiving a call) and gives you option to dismiss the alarm or snooze it (pull down to dismiss, like when you unlock it... or click if you want to snooze).

Well it kinda sux, don't you think?
Anonying always to pull down and turn on power on everyt time...grrrrrr......

Got to disagree, it would suck much more if the touchscreen didn't lock. Never seen a touchscreen phone that didn't lock the screen, for very obvious reasons!

is there any possibility at all to unlock screen without pressing on power button?

Manually turn off screen?

Hi, I would like to know if there's a way to manually turn off the screen? I've changed the display time-out settings so that it doesn't automatically turn off the screen while I'm still using it, but it would be nice if there was a way to manually turn off the screen. Right now I'm resorting to locking it, but that means extra work

If you press the red call button it will block your screen and in a few seconds will be off and locked
Hope it helps,

You can se the screen to auto lock at desired time(10/20 seconds, etc.) from the last time you touched a button, with a digital or analog clock display as a screen saver using smarttoolkit. Instead of manually, it will be automatic, but it will turn off your screen. Let me tell you this is a great feature if you have kids, like myself , if I put the phone down, I don't have to worry if my kids get a hold of it 'cause the screen will be locked.

Nothing happens when I press the end call button. Is there some hidden setting I need to activate for it to work? I'm on WM6.1 by the way.

Switch on screen

Well when you want to use the phone you have to press the power button first right? Then slide to unlock.
Is it possible to remap the button to switch screen on from the power button to say...clicking the trackpad? A native way or an app i don't mind. Just seems strange to reach to the top of the phone and i have pretty big hands, it's no problem just me being me i guess.
Download keyguard disabler, then you will be able to turn on the screen with any of the bottom buttons.
Though pressing trackpad seems best as others invoke some kind of action.

Oh that's a shame! Yeah i think any key would cause me to make mistaks while it is in my pocket that's why i would like the trackpad.
I'll live in hope!
Well it was recommended an app called flyscreen but that turned out to be a full lock screen replacement. Not really what I want!
I don't want to give up on this it's my only gripe lol. Anyone any ideas? Or help? Nothing from the Nexus One?
We may have to wait till it's rooted before we get this feature
How about just locking the screen rather than turn it off?

If Paul from Modaco gets his Desire it could be rooted very soon. Let's hope so and i want this feature first lol.

Unlock Desire by pressed the trackball button twice

Hi,
Is there a way to unlock the screen only by pressing twice on the trackball button?
Ty
I've wanted this exact thing since day one. Now we have root i'm pretty sure some dev can come up with it there just needs to be a high enough demand!
Write access on /system is not required for this ?
instead of pressing the trackball twice you can just click menu
or do you mean twice from when the screen is turned off?
I mean, sreen off -> press trackball twice = screen on unlocked
Can be done with the cyanogen rom for desire
Waking up the screen by ANY of the four HWbuttons would be nice. I remember the Dream, waking by pressing 'menu'.. aah those good ol' days.
Yeah but i think that would cause it to unlock when i have it in my jeans pocket or anything like that. Trackpad to wake is perfect. I'm using The Nex-Desire rom and it has this option.

I couldn't find this app on the Market - did you mean "No Lock"? That seems to do what the OP wants, although it only requires pressing a hardware button once to turn screen on, as the lock is effectively disabled.
This looks easy to be done yet there is no answer...
Confirm, its the "no lock" app. Its free, and leaves your htc like an iphone..

Slide unlock can be bypassed by the menu button

Not sure if this is a bug, but I noticed that if you are running an app that has a "..." menu button at the bottom (next to the app switch/task manager button) and you press the power button to lock the phone, next time you unlock it the menu button will still be there. Pressing it takes you to the application you were in before.
It only works for apps that have the menu button at the bottom. I tried other more secure locks and the menu button still appears, but pressing it does nothing.
Oh no.. first the face unlock fiasco and now this..
Worst security ever!

I don't see why face unlock would be a fiasco ... ?
And this may be a bug, but it's not a security issue.
I've tried it, but doesn't happen for me. Running a custom rom though.

You can pull down the notification bar as well...
I don't think anyone could argue that slide-to-unlock is a secure option anyway at all.

I think thats a feature.
Yes, but pulling down the notification bar does not allow you to unlock the phone. The settings button is disabled.
I'm not saying its a problem, just something odd...
The MoDaCo rom removes this feature/issue.

I don't think that slide to unlock is a security option. If you really want to have the phone blocked put a pin code or a slide pattern.
But it's true that maybe this option souldn't be posible. The notificaction bar can be displayed but not presed to enter the phone.
I'm with the autor of the post. This souldn't happen.

Actually, if you have a notification, you can pull down the notification bar and click the notification and it will work just like it would if slide to unlock first.
As stated by someone else, slide to unlock is only for butt dial protection, not security.

Yeh I was just kidding lol.
Sounds like a feature to me. Damn convenient.
This is not an issue. If you want security use pin, pattern, or face unlock. How is just having slide unlock considered security? It isn't.
And before people bemoan face unlock, who the hell is going to have a big picture of you to fool face unlock AND know the phone is yours except people you know. If you need to protect your phone from people you know or are uncomfortable with it, use a pin or pattern.

It does? I'm running MCR and the ADW menu button still shows up..
But like someone said, with slide to unlock does it really matter? It's not very hard to slide to unlock anyways.. now if it was slide to unlock AND it had a password unlock it would be different..
I'm not really concerned with the security side, however I am concerned with the practicality of it. I often accidentally push buttons on my phone when both my hands and phone are in my pocket, and because of this button it often unlocks and I end up ringing someone or sending them a text full of random characters. Quite annoying.
If you click on a notification it goes into the app. I actually find this quite convenient, I can get right into the app without sliding my finger.

If you "exit" (go to the homescreen) said app, then lock the phone the menu button won't pop up.

Not valid with ADW launcher ... or any launcher which still uses the legacy menu button.
Its a feature...and i like it. Quick access to last opened app. Why would this be a problem if you dont set a security code. Its a welcomed feature imo.

HELP PLEASE SOMEONE! :crying::crying:
My ROGERS Samsung Galaxy SIII LTE SGH-i747M running Jelly Bean 4.1.1 has a lock screen bug! I have been googling around the web, but still couldnt find anyone with the bug I am having right now, so i am asking for someone to plz help me out here! The bug just started today, my phone is set to "Swipe" mode on the lock screen, so usually I would just need to swipe my screen to unlock my phone, but today, when i press my power button OR home button, my phone turned on, and showed my lock screen for 1 second, and it unlocked by itself. I didnt have to swipe or anything, all i did was pressed my power button OR home button, and it unlocked by itself. I know this is just a minor problem, but it is so annoying! I am sorry if i dont make any sense, because its hard to explain the situation I am having, but plzzz someone help me out here!

Goto settings >security and check what they are set at under lock screen. Less security than swipe is none, which means once it wakes up you are on the home screen.

But the problem i am having is that, mine is set at "Swipe", and before the bug happened, i can swipe my screen and unlock, but now, all i have to do is just turn on the screen with power or home button and my lock screen wall paper will show up and then half a second after, it will unlock to my home screen by itself, and it wont let me swipe.
The above bug happens to me sometimes. I then switched to using a pattern on my lock screen.
If I leave the phone unattended sometimes for a few hours, when I "wake" it, it reverts to a "swipe" to unlock instead of my pattern of password that was set. My phone is stock 4.1.1 and not rooted.
